Travel company Travel Plan "DSBW Travel Collection" organizes in 2019 a variety of tours to Portugal - one of our favorite destinations. Portugal is a wonderful country for a relaxing holiday and interesting trips. The destination is relatively expensive, mainly due to air travel to Lisbon.

We specialize mainly in sightseeing tours, of which I would like to highlight our wonderful tour in the first place. "Iberian Voyage"   from the DSBW Travel Collection. This tour includes a visit to two countries - Spain and Portugal, and is relatively inexpensive due to a more economical flight to Spain.

Portugal differs from many other countries in calmness and peace in everything. Even the songs are somehow calm and melodic. Portugal is also distinguished by excellent service, an abundance of attractions and the absence of a "tourist crowd". And also a calm, non-hot climate, very fresh air from the ocean and excellent cuisine that could easily argue with more eminent neighbors. But the Portuguese do not argue - they just cook deliciously.

There is something to see in Portugal. In addition to Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve are of interest, numerous palaces and monasteries: Alcobasa, Estoril, Braga, Guimaraes, Caimbra, Fatima, Batalya, Sintra, Obidos, Mafra and much more. By the way, Portugal is a great option to combine an informative vacation with a beach, going from Moscow to the resorts of the Lisbon Riviera, Algarve and Madeira.

As a specialist in Portugal, we will help diversify your trip in 2019 with interesting trips and vacations in Portugal.

Portugal's Underground Riches: Piggy Bank Cave with Coins
Among the many attractions of Portugal there are rare objects, which include the GrutasdaMoeda Cave. The name is translated into Russian as “piggy bank with coins.
   Legend of GrutasdaMoeda Cave
Locals tell an old legend about the robbery and murder by robbers of a rich man, which was commonplace in those troubled times. However, at that time, the bandits incorrectly chose either the place, or the time, or the object of their criminal business. Anyway, they didn’t succeed in making money: they threw the lifeless body of their victim from the rocks and in a hurry dropped a bag of gold, coins scattered across the rocks, and the robbers left without prey. Since then, a deep cave, allegedly strewn with gold, began to be called "piggy bank with coins."
   Lucky Fox Hunters Find
It is amazing that the legend of a rich cave has been around for a long time, and it was discovered only in 1971. This was done by two fox hunters who looked into a hole behind a whiskered fox and found a huge karst void. Out of curiosity, they entered the cave and found it interesting. On the first day, the hunters opened an amazingly beautiful hall with limestone formations. They called it the "room of the pastor" or the "room of the shepherd." For another two months, the newly minted researchers independently paved the way through the underground, excavating in narrow places, finding more and more new halls with outlandish figures, lime stalactites and stalagmites, lakes and waterfalls. Each new room was more amazing than before.
After two months of hard work, friends turned to professional geologists for help, who determined which calcite and clay deposits were in the karst cave. We spent almost hidden illumination, which allowed us to see the incredible beauty created by nature itself. In some places, steps were cut down.
Soon, a new cave was opened for tourists, taking measures to preserve the pristine natural beauty of the surrounding rocks and the cave itself. Many of the halls were named by visitors: Crib, Red Dome, Pastor, Our Lady, Waterfall, Imperfect Chapel, Fountain of Tears and even Wedding Cake.
Tourist information The length of the tourist route is 350 meters.
The maximum depth of descent is 50 meters.
The air temperature in the cave is an average of 18 degrees throughout the year, since it is warmed and cooled by the water that oozes from the rocks. It is pleasant to wash on a hot day with cool vodka from a thermal pond.
In some places, one can well see the traces of bygone eras, for example, the petrified chain of dinosaur tracks that walked in those places during the Jurassic period 175 million years ago.
The entrance and exit to the cave is in different places, so you should be next to the guide.
   Fatima
For almost a century, Fatima has been a famous religious center. The events that occurred in these places from 1915 to 1917 are called by the Catholic Church a true miracle. You will hear a story about how shepherd children met the Virgin Mary, who introduced herself to them as an Angel of Peace and told about upcoming events. Every year, pilgrims from many countries come to Fatima to see with their own eyes the place where miracles happened.
