Sandy beaches of Corfu with warm sea water. The best sandy beaches of Corfu. From skepticism to love

The island of Corfu (or Kerkyra) is located off the coast of Greece from the northwest and is washed by the Ionian Sea. The landscape of Corfu is created by rocky mountains and hills. At one time, the beauty of this island impressed even Napoleon, which he told his beloved Josephine: “This is the only place on Earth that is comparable to your beauty. But it is softer, kinder and more affectionate, here the soul rests, and the body strives to fly. " It is not surprising that this place attracts millions of tourists all year round. The amazingly transparent sea and the most wonderful views create together an indescribable beauty, which you can contemplate endlessly. We have selected the best beaches in Corfu to make it easier for you to understand their diversity. Among them there are sandy and pebbly beaches - choose according to your taste. So let's start - 10 of the best.

10. Nissaki

Approximately 19 km from the city of Kerkyra on the eastern part of the island is the Nissaki resort with the beach of the same name. The main motorway to Corfu runs through it, so it will be very easy to get to it. You can rent a car or take the bus. There are many hotels and guest houses on the coast where you can comfortably stay. The infrastructure of Nissaki itself is well developed, in principle, there is everything you need for a great vacation. The beach itself is a gentle coastline with white pebbles.

The sea here is clean and due to its location in the bay it warms up well and does not have strong waves. For scuba divers, there is a rocky coast on the left side of the beach, where you can watch the local representatives of the marine fauna. In Nissaki, there are many married couples with small children, who are very suitable for the local warm sea and shallow depth on the shore. We can say that this is one of the best pebble beaches in Corfu for families with children.

9. Kontokali

About 8 km from the town of Kerkyra on the east coast of Corfu is the Kontokali beach or Kondokali as it is also called. The view to the sea is excellent - opposite there is a small island, behind which you can see the outlines of the coastline of Greece, to the right on the horizon you can see the old fortress of Corfu Town. You can lie on the beach for hours and watch this beauty from time to time plunging into the beautiful azure sea.

The beach itself is covered with golden sand and is quite wide with a small strip of pebbles right next to the water. Sun loungers and parasols are completely free to use. In 2014, this beach received the Blue Flag - a symbol of the cleanliness and safety of the coast. So if we consider the comfortable beaches of Corfu for families with children on the east coast, this place is definitely worth paying attention to.

8. Barbati

In the eastern part of Corfu, at the foot of Mount Pantokrator, about 15 km from Kerkyra, is the Barbati beach. If you are tired of a large number of tourists and want to spend time alone, swimming in the clear blue sea and admiring the picturesque views, then you should definitely visit this place. You can get here by taxi, rented car or by regular bus from Kerkyra.

The beach itself is covered with rather large white pebbles, well-hewn with water. If you have special rubber slippers, it is better to take them, so the entrance to the sea will be the most comfortable for you. In its central part there are paid sun loungers and all the infrastructure. Along the edges, between the rocks, there are small wild areas where you can quietly retire. There are many hotels and guest houses that are separated from the beach by luxurious olive trees, so you won't have any problems with accommodation.

7. Dassia

The village of Dassia with the beach of the same name is located in the central zone of the eastern part of the island of Corfu, about 13 km from Kerkyra. The beach itself is covered with golden sand mixed with pebbles. When entering the sea, the pebbles become larger and there are quite large pebbles, so for a comfortable entry into the water it will be useful to purchase special rubber slippers.

On the shore, you can hide from the sultry sun under an umbrella or sit comfortably in the shade of olive trees growing right next to the water. There is a full variety of beach activities: water skiing, boats, a diving center and much more. In the village itself there are many taverns and restaurants with varied cuisine. On the territory of the village there are nightclubs and bars where young people prefer to spend their time. The site has also been awarded the Blue Flag, an award for the cleanliness and safety of the coastline.

6. Agios Gordios

The western coast of Corfu is adorned with a beautiful bay, where the village of Agios Georgios is located with the beach of the same name. Distance from Kerkyra is about 32 kilometers. If we consider the best beaches of Corfu on the west coast, then this place definitely needs to be paid attention. The bay itself, surrounded by rocks overgrown with orange and olive trees, makes an indescribable impression.

A small rock sticking out of the sea is the hallmark of this place. Parents with small children will appreciate the gentle, golden sand and the gentle entrance to the sea. The crystal clear azure sea calmly strokes the coastline with virtually no waves. After enjoying your beach holiday, you can go for a stroll through the village itself, where there is a beautiful church. There are many cafes and restaurants, as well as guest houses.

5. Porto Timoni

Porto Timoni beach is located near Afionas village on the west coast of Corfu. You can get here only by car, regular buses do not go here. In the village, follow the signs to the Anemos tavern, this is where the road to the beach begins. We want to say right away that the place is wild, so take everything you need with you.

As you descend through the olive groves along the path from the village, you will discover indescribable beauty views of the turquoise, transparent sea. A narrow strip of land separates the two beaches from each other. One of the peculiarities of this place is that each beach has a different water temperature and you yourself choose whether to cool off or take a dip in warmer water. We recommend that you stay in this place until sunset in order to admire the crimson sun over the horizon.

4. Bataria

In the area of \u200b\u200bthe village of Kassiopi, about 38 km from Kerkyra, there is a small, but at the same time very beautiful and cozy beach. There is clear azure water here, there are sun loungers with umbrellas, changing cabins and a cafe. You can get here by car, there is parking above the beach. Snow-white pebbles and turquoise sea create a picture of a heavenly place. We recommend visiting this beach in the early morning when it is deserted, and at lunchtime go and walk around the fishing village of Kassiopi, there is something to see.

3. Peroulades

In the western part of Corfu, in the town of Peroulades, there is a beautiful but very narrow beach surrounded by towering cliffs. This place is considered one of the most beautiful on the island. The path leading to it gives way to a staircase that abuts against the sandy beach itself. There is really little space here, but swimming under the overhanging rocks really leaves a lasting impression. Even if you do not want to go down to the sea, then you simply must sit in a local restaurant with a glass of red wine, watching the red sun slowly sinking into the sea at sunset. We definitely recommend visiting this place.

2.Μirtiotissa

One of the most beautiful beaches on the island is located at the southeastern foot of Cape St George in the Myrtiotissa area. This small beach, sandwiched among massive rocks, is covered with golden sand. The sea here is crystal clear, beautiful azure color. To get to it you will need to walk downhill (about 20 minutes). There is a sun lounger rental and a small bar, but if you want to grab a meal, your best bet is to head upstairs. Nudists love to visit this place, so we do not recommend families with children here.

1. Paleokastritsa

Palaiokastritsa Beach is truly a piece of paradise on the western side of Corfu. It is located in the village of the same name. You can get here both by car and by regular bus. Cliffs covered with emerald vegetation, turquoise sea like on the best beaches of the Indian Ocean, delicate golden sand, all this together create a picture indescribable in its beauty.

The rocky coastal areas have become ideal diving sites. The infrastructure is well developed here, there is everything you need. This beach is also marked with the Blue Flag - the quality mark for the cleanliness and safety of the coast. In our opinion it is the best beach on the map of Corfu.

Locations of the most famous beaches in Corfu

We hope that our article will help you choose the place to visit that you will later remember with pleasure for a long time.

Good afternoon friends! The resorts of Greece are great for summer holidays at the sea. Today I will tell you about the most interesting beaches of Greek Corfu according to the reviews of Russian tourists.

Corfu Island is located at the intersection of two seas. On the one hand, it is washed by the waters of the Adriatic Sea, and on the other, by the Ionian Sea. Therefore, the best beaches in Corfu vary significantly.

The beach can be safely called a legend, it is incredibly beautiful and romantic, it is a thin strip of coast, separated from the surrounding world by tall rocks (100m).

Available at low tide only. When the tide comes, the water rises high and reaches the rocks. Tourists get to the beach via two steep staircases that are not designed for people in poor physical condition. Due to the inaccessibility, there is no infrastructure at all.

A stunning place on the beach is the upstairs terrace. The view from there is dizzying, and the best photos are taken during the crimson sunset.

Another popular beach in Corfu. It is located 16 km from Kerkyra, at the western end of the island. It got its name from the church of Agios Gordios - a beautiful temple that will be of interest to connoisseurs of architecture.

The beach is located in a bay, cliffs rise around. Olive groves and vineyards grow on them. The views are fantastic. They will delight selfie fans indescribable.

This is the best place for families with small children, there is a shallow sea with a smooth sunset, pleasant sand on the shore. The kid will appreciate this fact.

The infrastructure at Agios Gordios is well developed - there are sun loungers, umbrellas, cafes, showers, toilets. Large selection of water activities.

Nissaki beach

The beach is located between Kassiopi and Barbati and consists of many tiny coves inviting seclusion. Finding a more romantic corner in Corfu will not work. The coast is strewn with large pebbles. The pebbles have a snow-white hue and contrast with the blue waters. Nissaki is incredibly attractive at sunset. Lovers from all over the world come here to see the sun hiding behind the horizon, plunging into the blue depths.

The entry into the water is shallow, and the sea itself is quite shallow and warm, which is very important for families with children. Another group of tourists who adore Nissaki are divers. The clear waters are rich in animals that scuba divers love to look at.

There are many taverns along the coast, serving the finest lunches and dinners teeming with fish and seafood.

Paleokastritsa beaches

Paleokastritsa is one of the best resorts in Corfu. The beaches here fully meet all the requirements that even the most spoiled tourist can present. Local infrastructure implies comfort, all imaginable and inconceivable amenities. There are many hotels in the vicinity of the coastline, which unites six beaches.

The main beaches of Paleokastritsa are sandy, in some places there are small pebbles. The water is cooler here than in other regions of the island. But there are practically no winds - thanks to the high cliffs covered with green vegetation, fencing the beach sections from each other, making the area picturesque. The sea is clean, the recreation area has been awarded the Blue Flag.

There are many activities on the beach for lovers of active recreation on the water. You can take a boat trip, go to rocky caves. Such a trip will be remembered for a long time. It is difficult to imagine such beauty just by looking at a photo, it is better to see it with your own eyes.

Sidari beach

Another interesting beach in Corfu is Sidari - a kind of mix of picturesque landscapes and excellent infrastructure. The most diverse audience comes here - married couples, elderly people, young people. Active tourists have the opportunity to ride water ATVs and paragliders.

Of particular interest are the small bays delimiting the sandy headlands, they can be found traveling along the coast. One of the natural attractions of the island, which is associated with romantic beliefs, is called the "Channel of Love", and is a narrow strip of sea between the sand dunes. There is a passage in the rock that looks like an arch. It is believed that if you swim under it, guessing the name of your beloved, the relationship will definitely work out.

Perhaps you have not yet decided which resort in Greece to choose, read the article. Alternatively, consider vacationing in Cyprus. Comparison of these two countries from the point of view of a tourist who doesn't care where to go, if only in the summer at sea, read.

If you have interesting stories about your vacation on the island, write to me, I will definitely publish them in the "Readers' Travels" section, see details. And on the topic of the article, leave comments, I will read them with pleasure. Subscribe to updates, I recently changed the design, which made the resource more convenient for the reader.

This is all that I wanted to tell you today, I say goodbye for a while, see you again!

Tatiana Solomatina

Probably, every city, and even more so if we are talking about a resort, has its own "branded" places. It is from these sights that you can guess the place and make your own impression of it. There are several such places on Corfu (or the island of Kerkyra, as the Greeks themselves call it). But the main calling card of this place is gorgeous beaches. In this article, you will discover the best beaches in Corfu.

Pebble beaches

For your convenience, we have divided the main beaches of Corfu into two categories: pebble and sandy. Some beaches are pebbly and sandy; this will be discussed separately in the description.

Magnificent Paleokastritsa

If you decide to search the Internet for photos of the beaches of Corfu, the first place will probably be the pictures of Cape Paleokastritsa. Many consider this cape to be the most picturesque attraction of the island and strive exactly there.

From the capital of the island of Kerkyra, you can get to Paleokastritsa by Green Bus (this is the name of the bus), a ticket costs a few euros. The journey will take about thirty minutes. Another way to admire the cape is to book a tour of Kerkyra, not a single tourist group passes by. However, in this case, plunge into the warm sea is unlikely to work.

If you are going to the beach, then by all means take a mask and fins with you, because the water is pure, and the underwater world is rich. Everything around is fragrant with the aromas of the Mediterranean.

Buses come straight to the central beach, there is also a pier. On it, the locals offer a ride on a yacht or boat through the grottoes and caves. It seems that there are too many foreign tourists, but most of them do not make noise and observe the harmony of this place. Here you will find incredibly picturesque coves. Paleokastritsa has the best beaches in Corfu, on the map you can find a town in the western part of the island.

Here sand mixed with pebbles. The entrance to the water itself is purely sandy, so no special footwear is needed. Be prepared that the June water will be cold, it is better to swim later. But at any time of the year, the turquoise transparent sea will not leave you indifferent!

Barbati - trendy beach

Barbati is a very clean pebble beach with clear water. From the coast you can see Albania, and if you sail further away, you will get a magnificent view of Mount Pantokrator. Everyone can rent sun loungers and umbrellas (there are always enough of them, trestle beds are placed in several rows). There is a place to eat on Barbati. You will find both a shower and a toilet here. Despite all the amenities, the place is not crowded. The only exceptions are weekends, when the Greeks want to relax too. If you get tired of the heat, you can walk through the olive grove that separates the coastline from the residential complexes.

In general, Barbati is a "glamorous village", the best place to hang out, where people come to shed the burden of fatigue from the cream of Greek society. And if you are looking for beaches on the island of Corfu, where you can also hang out, then you are here! Clubs are within walking distance, where you can cover yourself with a beautiful tan and cool off with a delicious cocktail. If you love music, fun, and the smell of coffee in the air, then you are in the right place.

Modern Agios Gordios

Agios Gordios is comfortably located in the most beautiful bay of Corfu, which you can immediately recognize from the photo. Typical features of the beach are the characteristic rocky terrain and a small rock that looks like it looks out of the sea. This is the west coast of the island and is traditionally considered European. There are very few Slavs in the village and by the sea.

Agios Gordios is civilized, there are many places to eat. There are taverns with delicious national cuisine. Moreover, many coastal restaurants and bars offer customers free sun loungers. Even if you don't buy anything, sunbeds are inexpensive. Two sun loungers with an umbrella cost from 5 euros per day.

If you are wondering where are the sandy beaches in Corfu, then you will find a partial answer here. Agios Gordios is rather big, three kilometers long. There is sand on the shore, but the entrance to the sea is strewn with small pebbles. There are no sharp changes, the entry is smooth, and deep places begin 15 meters from the coast. If you search, you can stumble upon a wild beach with stunning fine sand not only on the shore, but also in the sea. In general, the place is ideal for relaxation, especially with small children.

Porto Timoni - when the mountains embrace the sea

Porto Timoni is a truly unspoilt place with lush vegetation and clear sea. In terms of beauty, this is the best beach in Corfu. You cannot get there by public transport: only by a rented car, by taxi or on foot. Even if you go by car, on the way to the beach you still have to overcome the descent from the mountain (about a quarter of an hour), and back, accordingly, you will have to climb. We advise you to take a shift with you. But the Porto Timoni views are well worth the effort. So when asked about the most beautiful beaches in Corfu, you will surely tell about Porto Timoni.

Before descending, you can refresh yourself in a cafe, and forward to the chic pebble coast. To avoid getting lost, look at the signposts and look for the Double beach sign. In general, the name is not entirely true. In fact, there are three beaches, it's just that getting to the third one is even more difficult than to the first two, so there are usually no people there.

Going to any of them, it is advisable to take an umbrella with you, because you will not find a shade. The north beach is windy and the water seems colder. But in the southern Porto Timoni there is no wind at all, so there are many wasps. For those who do not want to climb the mountains, there is an option to get to the beach by catamaran or boat.

Bataria - a beach with white stones

Bataria is cozy and clean, but there are large pebbles on it. Trestle beds and umbrellas are paid, almost all of them are laid out on stones. Pebbles can be a nuisance when entering the water; pebbles can injure feet, especially for babies. It is best to purchase rubber bathing shoes right away.

But the views are simply fantastic: azure water contrasts with white stones. Great views of nature! The photos are great. However, there are also downsides.

The beach is small, there are a lot of people during the day. The sunbeds are uncomfortable, the umbrellas are old and sometimes broken. No toilet and no shower. There is only a cafe where you can visit the toilet. But there are changing cabins on Bataria. But in terms of transport accessibility, there are no questions, there is parking above the beach.

Rovinia - the beauty of the wild

Rovinia Beach is a small pebble and rocky beach. Buses do not go here, but you can easily get there by car, boat (sea taxi) or on foot. There is a parking nearby. White pebbles, blue sea, tempting grottoes. The water is crystal clear, there are no algae, it's a sin not to snorkel or try to catch fish with your hands! The sea is deep.

A secluded place, but still you can't call it heavenly. There is dirt and in terms of improvement there is something to complain about. There are no sun beds or umbrellas. In addition, due to the fact that the beach is wild, there are no buoys or boat restraints. Everyone who wants to take a motor boat will ride along the coast. Sometimes this creates a danger: people are in the water, and a boat is sailing nearby. You never know how it might end.

It is difficult to find the beach without instructions from the local Rovinia, because there are no signs. The road to the beach is picturesque in itself and runs through olive groves. You can buy food on a small boat that brings snacks and drinks. They sell decent sandwiches, inexpensive beer and cold coffee.

Sandy beaches of Corfu

Those who do not like pebbles, but have chosen Corfu for vacation, will find good sandy beaches on the island: noisy and secluded, popular and uncrowded.

Agios Georgios - a secluded place to relax

This sandy beach is clean and large. There are inclusions of pebbles at the entrance to the water. There are usually few people here.

Employees of hotels, shops and tourist shops do not know Russian words at all. Our compatriots usually rest on the east coast, and we offer tours there.

You can get to Agios Georgios at any time of the day or night by taxi, about twenty minutes. Corfu is full of serpentines and rocks, so if there is a phobia of heights, you may feel uncomfortable.

The entry into the sea is fine, but there may be waves in this part of the island. Although for many this is a plus. Of course, you can't do surfing, but you can ride the waves with small children. Dolphins are swimming by. For vacationers, they sometimes arrange their amazing performance.

The sea is shallow for the next ten meters, then the depth begins. In sight, you can always find a fresh water shower to rinse.

Uncrowded Gardenos

This beach is ideal for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the popular Corfu coastline. Here locals and tourists who live nearby rest. It is not one of those beaches that people go to from the other end of Corfu. The gardenas is huge, completely sandy - sand both on the coast and in the sea. The water is warmer than in Paleokastritsa.

If you go there by car, it is better to take umbrellas and blankets for lying with you. Umbrellas are conveniently stuck in the sand, you can save on rent. Open space, the wind almost always blows.

There are shops and restaurants in front of the beach entrance. There is a shower and a changing room. Fish and other marine life can be seen in the water.

There is a small and simple restaurant on the shore with very affordable prices. You can order takeaway and enjoy your food while looking out over the sea from your sun lounger.

Mirtiotissa - don't be shy

A stunning beach, one of the best and most scenic in all of Greece. The main part of Mirtiotissa is given to nudists. Get ready for this. The beach is modest, cozy, with a sandy gentle approach to the sea.

The peculiarity of the beach is its secluded location: you can get here only by rented car or moped. By the way, to go down to the sea, you will have to overcome a sharp descent, and a scooter with a weak motor may not go upstairs later. Umbrellas here are surprisingly free, they are distributed to everyone at the entrance, but you will have to pay for the opportunity to lie on a sun lounger.

This is one of the prettiest resorts in Corfu with sandy beaches. There is a bar with drinks and snacks, and on the way - a restaurant. Due to its specificity, tourists from Western Europe and representatives of sexual minorities often come to Mirtiotissa. However, there are many families with children.

Another wonderful beach is Paradise. In translation - "paradise beach". Tourists love it for its delicate sand, convenient access to the sea and clear water. Moreover, the beach is very exotic and isolated.

It is important that you cannot get there by land, you will have to get there only by sea.

If you come by boat, remember that it is forbidden to moor the shore. However, if there are no people on Paradise, an exception can be made.

According to the rules, you need to drop anchor at a distance of fifty meters and swim like Robinson Crusoe. This means that you won't be able to take anything with you. The best time to dock is early morning. A taxi boat will cost fifteen euros for each passenger, and renting an entire boat for a day will cost about 80 euros. It is convenient to moor, you can plan the time as you want.

The left side of Paradise beach is more "civilized" and sloping: there are sun beds and umbrellas. The right half is deserted, there are large stones in the sea. In general, the beach is long and generally pleasing to the eye, but if you want to get a better look at the coast, take your shoes for walking on the rocks. Sheer snow-white cliffs, dense greenery, a long narrow strip of coastline - your heart will always remain here!

Marathias

Wide clean sandy beach with a pleasant entry into the sea. It is easy to get here by car or scooter. There are few tourists here, it is quiet and cozy. Most of the visitors are Greeks, and almost no Slavs. Clear water, which sometimes has small waves and wind. The depth at the coast is shallow, so Marathias is suitable for both young children and old people.

Huge space to play beach games or just sunbathe. Almost everyone praises the stunning "golden" sand on Marathias. There are plenty of bars and restaurants. Relaxing music is often heard. All in all, a fantastic beach for all ages, safe for children. A sunbed with an umbrella can be rented here for 3.

Corfu beaches reviews

This morning we went to see the beaches of Corfu.
Drive a rented car in Corfu
Let's go from the place where we live now - Villa Artemis and drive around Corfu counterclockwise.
That is, we are going north along the eastern (northeastern) coast of Corfu.
Too lazy - having driven from Nissaki before Paleokastritsy - turned home.

The sun shines directly into the camera lens and if I wanted to photograph something, I would get an overexposed image.
Therefore, I do not stop: it will not work to capture the bays of the northeast that come across on the way, and there is no place to stop - the roads to Corfu are narrow.

Only once we drive off the road to the beach, my wife read that the beach is famous - Agni (Agni).
I don't know what it is famous for in tourist guides, but the place is worse than ours Fireplaces and did not even uncover the camera - just a bay with boats and yachts.
The parking is far from the beach.
I didn't want to swim here.

The second beach on our way to the north coast of Corfu is the beach Kogevin (Kogevina)
This beach is better than Agni.
But it is also inferior to ours.
But there is parking, the entrance, like ours, is pebble.
The water is clear, but there is no zest.

If you drive a little further along the road, a shrimp farm is located behind the cape in a quiet bay.
At first I assumed that oysters were grown here, but then I looked at the shape of the cells in the water - for oysters they are square in shape, like in the photo

Beaches in North Corfu

Imperceptibly we move to the northern coast of Corfu.
You can feel the difference: the beaches here are like the shores of some estuary or swamp.
The beach is dirty in color and resembles a mixture of clay and earthy sand.

Ankle-deep for tens of meters.
The sand sticks to your feet and is difficult to wash off.
The tactile impression of contact is unpleasant.

I cross the beaches in the north of Corfu from the places on the island pleasing to the eye.
I don’t like places of congestion of hotels, package tourists, souvenir shops.
These are the beaches: Kalamaki (Kalamaki) and Seki (Seki)

Beaches Sidari (Sidari) - muddy water, dirty sand, stinks of rot, many sun beds and hotels.
The depth of the sea can be seen in the photo.
Right Channel of Love (Canal d'Amur).

Something like sucked from a finger: a shallow ravine punched with a thickness of petrified clay.
They say that if you swim along this channel, all the women will be yours.

That's the truth - I would really like that, but there was absolutely no desire to swim in this puddle.
This attraction can be deleted from the plans for visiting places in Corfu.

Cape Drastis

The next stop is the cape Drastis - the northern point of the island of Corfu.
Do not park your car where everyone else does it - drive further along the country road, why stomp in the heat on foot?
We didn't go to the cape itself - I launched it there: I took a photo of the video without an entrance ticket of 10 euros.
The place is beautiful - I recommend it.

Further along the road we drove to the beach Loggas (Loggas)
This is not a swimming beach, although you can go down.
You better go to the bar Panorama and take a selfie on the glass visor over the precipice.
To your right there will be a steep bank of petrified clay.
You can see and take a picture - see the map above.

Beaches in West Corfu

We are already driving along the western coast of Corfu and after the beach of Arila we stop to the south to the beach Agio Georgios Pagon.
Here we finally took a dip.
The water is clear, but icy. This is a feature of Corfu - on the west coast the water is much colder than on the east - cold currents.
On the shore of the beach there is large yellow sand, the entrance to the sea is deep, small pebbles at the bottom.

3 beaches in secluded bays were promised.
In fact, there are probably beaches there, but you have to leave your car somewhere in the village on the mountain and stomp on foot to these beaches for about 20 minutes.

There is an inscription on the asphalt No parking around, no public parking was found.
Besides, stomping on foot under the scorching sun is not our method.
The drone also did not send there. No photo.
Let's go further south - to Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa beaches

Paleokastritsa is a very beautiful place - in this place, the coast is nibbled by numerous coves, some have been privatized by hotels or bars.
Paleokastritsa has several public beaches - the port can serve as a reference point.
There is a large public car park. But there are a lot of people. After our cozy and small beach in the northeast, it is uncomfortable here.

Organized tourists are brought to one of the public beaches of Paleokastritsa by buses - such as an excursion. It is possible that someone will understand my horror from this. Nevertheless, people enjoy the sea: they swim, take selfies and photo sessions with mermaids

It is too early to draw conclusions about the best place to stay in Corfu - we have here one more day before the trip to Albania, but I correctly guessed the current place, which I advise you.
North East Corfu from the beach Barbati in the south to Kalami in the north of Corfu Riviera.

Video from our beach

West coast beaches south of Paleokastritsa

We had time to look at several beaches south of Paleokastritsa:
Ermones beach shared by two taverns and a hotel.
The beach is small and quite cozy.

There are small pebbles on the shore, the entrance to the water is good and comfortable.
The water is clear, there are no waves. It is best to swim here in the evening when the water warms up. The bottom is hard sand.

If you move to the right side of the beach, then further along the coast there is a narrow path and you can put a car and stomp to the bay with a secret beach.
There are nudists.

Myrtiotissa beach

It is a very beautiful beach with very difficult parking.
If you're lucky, you will find a place to park your car downstairs.
Otherwise, you will have to smoke with rubber on a steep rise and park at the tavern or on the side of the road, and then stomp down and up on foot.

The beach is small and consists of several islets of yellow sand.
There are no waves. Entering the water is very comfortable.
The water is clear as a tear. The place was chosen by nudists, but they cluster around the edges and do not interfere with life.

Glyfada beach
I don't like it in the picture, so I took a picture of it from above.
Nothing special and a lot of people.

Pelekas beach
This is horrible.
Look at the photo:

That's all. All beaches are marked on the map - you can use it for navigation.

Local residents and tourists who live nearby rest here.

Sandy beaches of Corfu

In addition to pebble beaches, there are a lot of sand beaches in Corfu. In addition to the pure white sand, the beaches are famous for their picturesque places and the purest sea. The terrain on the northern coast of Corfu is flat, so the mountains are far enough away.

    • Paleokastritsa is a resort that has 6 beaches: Agia Triada, Ampelaki, Agios Petros, Agios Spyridon, Alipa, Lagrotta and Platakia. This resort is an ideal place for families with children and for diving.

The first ones choose the beaches of Paleokastritsa because there is good sand and a gentle entrance to the sea. The latter, on the other hand, prefer to rest at this resort because of the heavily indented edges of the coast, the many bays hidden from the waves and the colorful underwater world. The only completely sandy beach on Paleokastritsa can be called Agios Spyridon. The rest of the beaches are pebble or sandy-pebble. It is convenient to get from Paleokastritsa, both to Corfu, and to the beaches anywhere, the roads lead in different directions. The resort is located 25 km from the city of Corfu.

    • Kalamaki (Apraos) is the most popular tourist resort in Corfu. It is located 40 km from the island between Agios Spyridon and Kassiopi in the northern part. Kalamaki Beach is a sandy shore one and a half kilometers long and 33 meters wide. Due to its shallow depth, the beach is popular for families with very young children. From Kassiopi you can get to this beach by cruise every morning. This beach has been awarded the Blue Flag for its crystal clear beach and water, which is presented annually by the European Union.

The beach itself stretches at the foot of the hill of the village of Pelekas. The beach strip is large both in length and in width, with amazing beauty of green century-old trees and golden sand. The beach is loved by both couples and young people. The first pleasant factor here is the presence of clean and soft sand and shallow water, and the second is the annual BeachParty. You can fly to Glyfada directly from Moscow in 3.5 hours.

    • Moraitika and Messonghi - beaches are located 20 km from the capital. These are villages with a gorgeous view of the sand beach, 4 km long. The rest will be of interest to lovers of water sports. Near the beach, you can fish in the nearest river that falls into the sea. The river is a kind of border between the villages of Messonghi and Moraitika.

    • Agios Georgios (Pagos) - the resort is located 30 km from Corfu. Here, even in summer, the water is cold in the sea. The beach itself is a long sandy coastline, and the northern part of the beach is popular with nudists. Here, like nowhere else, there is such an opportunity to bask in the sun for 14 hours in a row. The breeze in the afternoon is a good companion for surfers. All kinds of active sports acceptable on the seas are relevant here. In addition to recreation for young people. Pagos beach will be interesting for families as well.
    • Paradise Beach is one of the few beaches that cannot be reached from the shore. To visit this beautiful beach, you need to hire a taxi boat in the nearest Liapades or Paleokastritsa. Unusual cliffs, white sand and seclusion on a 1 km long beach is a real paradise for tourists who want to be alone. The main thing is to agree on the return to the island with the boatman.

What to take with you to the beach?

Going to rest on the island of Corfu, there is no need to take special things with you.

The annual temperature averages 22 ° C.

This temperature is quite comfortable for tourists. In summer, the thermometer shows no higher than 32 ° С and not lower than 20 ° С.

The most necessary things will be:

Goggles, headwear, jacket for night walks.

But when packing your suitcase, pay attention to medications tailored to your needs. Medications for heart and blood pressure problems can be helpful. Although all medicines can be purchased locally, even without a prescription.

Greece as a whole is a country where the wind can be quite strong and frequent. This is why a moisturizer may come in handy for long excursions in Corfu. It will prevent chapping and its consequences - flaking and redness. You can also put hygienic lipstick in your suitcase.

Cosmetics for women will rather be superfluous, as it can "float". A matting cream will be more practical.

Sunscreen, which has a protection level of 30-35 points, is also useful before going to the beach.

Family care cosmetics (creams, gels, scrubs, deodorants) do not need to be taken - you can buy them on the island. All at reasonable prices and excellent quality from natural ingredients, in particular from olive oil. Only shampoo or balm to soften hair may come in handy, since the water on the island is hard.

There are many mosquitoes on the island, it will be good to stock up on insect repellent. Although, as a local said: “Corfu has a humid subtropical climate, because of this there are a lot of mosquitoes. You can buy funds from them on the spot or take them with you. There are no midges on the island. But in September wasps already appear during the harvest season.

What should a child take to Corfu? The set of things for children is the same as for any other vacation at sea. Warm clothes, sunscreens and, of course, swimming accessories can be useful.

Remember that you should not take a lot of luggage in Corfu. Thus, you can restrict your movement. Indeed, in addition to beautiful beaches, the island has a lot of architectural and natural attractions.

Even if you are not going to make excursions, believe that when you arrive at the place, you will certainly have such a desire.
