Every airline that values its reputation and values its customers has a frequent flyer program. It's hard to believe, but it seems that such programs are the very rare case when free cheese is not only in a mousetrap. True, you still have to earn money for cheese. How to do this - in a brief overview of the loyalty programs of airlines flying from Minsk.

First, a few general comments. Participation in the programs is voluntary and absolutely free, and any passenger over two years old can become a participant. The general principle for all programs: the "conventional units" earned on flights - most often miles - is a kind of air money, which, if sufficient, can be exchanged for a higher class of service, a ticket, additional services of the airlines themselves, as well as the services of their partners from related areas activities (hotels, car rental salons, shops, etc.). The most important difference between loyalty programs, as a rule, lies in the mechanisms for accumulating bonus miles. Important: a competent member of any loyalty program always mentions (indicates) the card number before booking a ticket, so that the earned miles are immediately credited to the account (in most programs, after the flight, when saving boarding passes, you can credit miles after the fact), and remember that in the case of a flight to for an award ticket, taxes and fees are paid by the passenger.

    Belavia: Belavia Leader

How to get involved: To join the program, you must fill out an application form, which can be obtained from sales offices or agents, and send it to the airline by mail. You can also fill out a questionnaire for participation in the program on the official website. The airline promises to consider the application within 15 working days. After a participant gains 1500 qualifying points or makes three paid flights on regular Belavia flights, a permanent program participant card is sent to him. Until this moment, the participant uses a temporary card, which can be obtained along with the questionnaire at the offices or printed from the personal account on the website.

How to collect points: Points within the framework of Belavia Leader can be qualifying, which are awarded for a flight on regular flights of the airline and depend on the route and booking class, and non-qualifying, which can be additionally accrued within the framework of special offers, as “gifts” for certain events or bonuses for members of elite program levels. In order to move from the starting to the “silver” elite level, you need to collect 25,000 qualifying points during the year, to the “gold” level - 50,000. "Gold" levels, respectively.

What to look for: Points are not earned on charter flights and award tickets. Points can be awarded for flights made 2 months before check-in. The "shelf life" of the accumulated points is 2 years. It is best to book an award ticket 4 working days before the planned flight.

Belavia Leader provides for participation in the corporate clients program. A flight in economy class on the route Minsk - Tel Aviv is estimated at 600 points.

In particular, the network of partners is expanding to provide members with more opportunities to earn and spend miles. Already, program members are exempt from the check-in fee for airBaltic flights (5 euros for regular passengers). Award tickets and vouchers confirming the change in class of service on board are issued electronically. Children who participate in the program receive specially designed Young Pilot cards and earn miles in the same way as adults, provided that a separate seat is reserved for them. Miles can be credited for flights made before joining the BalticMiles program if they took place no more than 30 days before registering as a member.

In addition, miles can be purchased or transferred (albeit in a limited number) from another OK Plus member's account. Miles can also be credited for recommending a new active participant in the incentive program (1000 miles for each registered newcomer). At least 500 miles are credited for one domestic Czech Airlines flight, and 750 miles for an international flight. The number of miles also depends on the fare of the purchased ticket. When a passenger accumulates the required number of miles, he automatically receives a “silver”, “gold” or “platinum” membership card, which is valid for one year.

What to look for: During the Promo Bonus, additional miles are credited for each flight. If an award ticket or other OK Plus award is returned, 5,000 miles will be debited from the member's account. When the flight class is changed, a certain number of miles is deducted from the account of the holder of the "silver" or "gold" card for each segment of the route, depending on the flight distance. A member's account statement can be received every month by email (free) or every quarter by regular mail (2,000 miles). New members of the program can earn miles for flights with Czech Airlines, which were made up to 3 months before the registration date. The accumulated miles can be used for 2 years, provided that during this time at least one transaction is recorded on the account. For the flight Minsk - Prague 750 miles are credited.

    EtihadAirways: EtihadGuest

How to get involved: The fastest way is to fill out a questionnaire at any representative office of the airline or at the check-in counter at the airport, so the passenger instantly becomes the owner of a membership card. The most technologically advanced is to fill out the on-line registration form. In this case, the membership card will be sent within 30 days. The "classic" way is to send a completed application form and receive a membership card by regular mail.

How to earn miles: Miles are credited for flights operated by the airline and for using the services of partners (hotels, banks, car rental services, shops). As miles are accumulated, the member rises from the first level (Etihad Guest Tier) to the “silver” level (Etihad Guest Silver), and then to the “gold” (Etihad Guest Gold). Each new level implies new bonuses, including when accruing miles. The number of miles accrued depends on the flight distance, as well as on the ticket class. For example, for a Pearl Business class ticket, 50% of the number of miles is added, for a Diamond First class - 100%. Upon registration, a new Etihad Guest member will receive 500 welcome miles.

What to look for: The program allows you to receive bonuses immediately after the first mile is credited. If a member does not have enough miles to receive bonuses, he has the right to use the combination of miles plus money. In this case, the passenger decides for himself how many miles to spend and how much to pay in cash. Moreover, miles are also credited for the amounts spent on receiving bonuses under the program. The program runs constantly, i.e. a member can purchase an award ticket even during the high season. An additional benefit of Etihad Guest is the Family Card, which allows you to register up to 8 family members and transfer 100% of the accumulated miles from account to account, which makes it possible to earn the miles required for awards much faster. In addition, miles for flights that were made 3 months before the registration of the card can be restored. Etihad Guest Miles are valid for 3 years from the date they were earned. For a flight on the route Minsk - Abu Dhabi in the Coral Economy class, 2,463 miles are credited.

How to get involved: To become a member of the program, it is necessary to register in an accessible way for the passenger (for example, by filling out the registration form on the website) and open a personal Miles & More account. In confirmation of opening an account, a new program member receives a confirmation with a card number, which gives him the right to earn miles. The card itself is issued after the first mile is credited to the account.

How to earn miles: The number of miles credited for direct flights traditionally depends on the distance between the points of origin and destination, the declared minimum number of miles or published flat rates. The number of miles is multiplied by the booking class factor in accordance with the paid class of service indicated on the ticket.

What to look for: By subscribing to the Miles & More newsletter before 31 December 2009, you can earn 500 miles, which will be credited to your account within one month from the date of your subscription. The program allows you to earn award miles on selected charter flights. Miles that are not automatically credited can be restored within 12 months after using the corresponding service. Award miles unused within 36 months from the date of earning will be canceled at the end of the next quarter. Bonuses earned for miles can be transferred to close relatives or friends, but cannot be exchanged for other bonuses or sold. A flight in standard economy class on the route Minsk - Berlin with a stopover in Vienna will add 3000 miles to the score.

What to look for: Elite Plus members are eligible for family membership. On the company's own flights, members can use the “companion ticket” service: a companion of a passenger using an award ticket can fly for much fewer miles required to obtain a second award ticket.
