How to get from Riga to Jurmala. How to get from Riga to Jurmala. How to get to Jurmala

I asked: How to get from Riga to Jurmala on your own?

I will try to help and answer the question as detailed as possible. The information is useful to all tourists who want to get from Riga to Jurmala.

Dial Riga departure and arrival station Majori. Choose from the proposed menu in Latvian. We get the schedule of all trains in the Jurmala direction.

Jurmala Jurmala  is one of the most famous and largest resort towns not only in Latvia, but also in the Baltic countries. Jurmalait is a city located near Riga, with a population of more than 55 thousand people. Translated from Latvian "Jurmala" means Juras mala "The edge of the sea!"

The land, which is now the territory of Jurmala, in the past was part of Riga. Some of its areas, in particular Sloka and Kemeri, were known as the famous Latvian health resorts. When this land was ruled by Latvian Germans, it was called Riga Beach. But this is another story, and to the topic of the page   already a little suitable. I'll leave it for next time.

Currently, modern Jurmala is the most famous and largest resort in the Baltic States. The population in Jurmala in the summer increases due to the many tourists who want to improve their health and relax. Popular with tourists is not only the mild, delicate climate of the city, but also healing air, beautiful pine forests, mineral and mud springs. An important factor in attracting guests is the natural border of the city - this is the Lielupe River.

In order to get to this popular resort, you can use the buses coming from Riga, from the Riga bus station. In 40 minutes you will be there. I’ll write about the bus later. It seems to me that this is not very convenient.

For lovers of minibuses - you can get with this transport.

But personally, I recommend the train! Reliably. With a guarantee. Punctually. There will be many people on weekends and good weather. But usually everything fits. On working days - more spacious. Most likely, someone else remembers jam-packed electric trains to Jurmala in the times before 1991. Now this is no longer there. Latvia in the EU.

How to get from Riga to Jurmala.

Can I buy a train ticket?

The question is asked by Igor:05-09-2012 18:45

- By train to Majori, 30 minutes from Riga Railway Station. The fare in one direction was 1 Lat. (Now 1.40 Euros.)  Round trip 1.95 Lat at the box office at the railway station. BUT, I saw how many passengers pay the fare to the controller-conductor?

Answer:

- Igor, That's right! In the train, already in the car, you can buy a ticket directly from the conductor. Such an opportunity is provided for those passengers who are late, drop into the car, not having time to go to the ticket office. Or who really is too lazy and money a person does not particularly consider.

And even at some small stations, ticket offices may be closed at a later time. Here it is - either buy a ticket in advance, or pay with interest!

It will be cheaper to buy a ticket at the box office right there and back!

Buy a ticket in a carriage at the conductor controller  possible, but it will be more expensive ... About 30%.

How to get from the airport to Jaunkemeri?

Question from Alexander:03-10-2012 21:54

- Thanks. How to get from the airport to Jaunkemeri?

Answer to Alexander:

Alexander, welcome.
There is no direct transport airport-Jaunkumeri. Apparently, a taxi. You can first go to the center of Riga, then by minibus. In any case, only with a transfer ... I'd rather order a transfer.
  Jaunkumeri, a sanatorium?
Try to book: The Jaunkumeri Center provides, upon reservation, a meeting and departure of guests from Riga Airport and the railway station (the price for a transfer from the arrival point to the Jaunkemeri CRC and back is EUR 40.00).

Or get to Riga and take a minibus there. If not laziness and a little baggage. The minibus is comfortable. New. Budget option! :)))

Jurmala in the fall. Sea.

Since Jurmala is located at some distance from Riga, all tourists who choose this resort to spend their summer vacation have to get here from Riga on their own.

A train

If you come to the capital of Latvia by train, it is most logical to continue the journey to Jurmala by train. You can familiarize yourself with the schedule of electric trains in the building of the Riga station or, but there is no point in looking for the Jurmala station in it - it just doesn’t. Choose a direction to Tukums or Sloka - this is Jurmala. If you need to go to its center, then Majori station will be yours. The first train leaves Riga at 05:50, and the last at 23:36.

Electric trains are the most profitable way to get to Jurmala: although the ticket costs a little more than by car, they do not stand in city traffic jams. The interval of movement of trains is about 30 minutes.

It is better to purchase a ticket at the ticket office of the station. Its one way price is € 1.90. You can buy a ticket directly from the conductor in the car, but then it will be 30% more expensive.

On business days, the fare from 10:00 to 15:00 is 25% cheaper. Travel time is 30 minutes. You can always specify the train schedule on the LDZ.lv website.

Route taxi

From the railway station

Another way to leave the railway station in Jurmala is by shuttle bus. Its headland is opposite the station. The journey will take 30–35 min. Cars in the direction of the resort in summer leave every 10 minutes from 06:00 to 23:50. Among the cluster of cars you need to look for minibuses under the following numbers:

  • No. 7018 Riga - Spunnciems - Jaunkemeri, walks only in the early morning and late evening;
  • No. 7021 Riga - Dubulti, makes ten flights a day;
  • No. 7023 Riga - Sloka, runs in 10-15 minutes.

The issue price is about 1.24 €. Travel money must be given directly to the driver, having previously warned him of your final stop. Minus minibuses - traffic jams on city streets.

From Riga Airport

If you got to the capital of Latvia by plane, then from the air gates of the city to the resort, most likely you will have to get with a transfer. You can get to the station by city bus number 22 to the Stockmann centrs stop, and then use the electric train or minibus.

In the tourist season there is another option. From June 3 to October 31, a direct bus to Jurmala runs from Riga Airport. Ticket price is about 3 €. The fare should be paid to the driver.

An alternative is city minibus taxi number 241. It should go to the Imanta station, where to transfer to the train going towards Tukums. It will take less than an hour to complete the journey, and the costs will not exceed 1.5 € per person, which is two times cheaper than on a direct bus.

When traveling as a family or a large company, it may make sense to use the transfer services from Riga Airport to Jurmala hotels. Such a service is about 2000 rubles, if ordered in advance. You will be met at the airport and taken to the door of your hotel in a comfortable car. You can calculate the cost and order a transfer.

Transit bus

From the Riga bus station on the street. Pragas, 1 to the railway station is only 500 m. Further to Jurmala you can either follow the train or take any transit bus going towards Lielupe or Dubulti. The schedule is available directly at the bus station or on the website. You can use the bus to Ventspils (at least 11 flights per day from 07:10 to 22:40). Travel time is 40 minutes. A ticket worth € 1.24 is payable at the ticket office of the station or at the driver.

Personal car

Ventspils highway (E22, Karļa Uļmaņa gatve) leads from Riga to Jurmala. In front of the bridge over the Lielupe River, when turning right, you need to be very careful not to get on the ring road. Travel time will be 15–20 minutes. Entrance to the city from April 1 to September 30 is paid. In 2014, the cost of the pass is 2 €, but it gives the right to free parking in the city during the day. However, if you have booked a hotel room or are planning to be treated in a sanatorium, you do not need to buy an entry ticket.

River transport

This is the most expensive and slowest option, but it looks more like entertainment. From May 1 to September 30 from the pier opposite the Presidential Palace next to the Cable-stayed Bridge in Old Riga every day at 11:00 in Jurmala on the Lielupe river the motor ship “New wave” sets sail. This is a great option to get to Jurmala by sea for tourists who live in Riga but want to spend a day in Jurmala. The ferry departs at 17:30 from the Majori pier.

Travel time is 2.5 hours. One-way ticket costs € 15-20 (children receive a 50% discount).
