How to get from Moscow to Fukuoka

From Moscow to Phu Quoc Island (Vietnam) can be reached in three ways ( the third fastest and most convenient, plus inexpensive):

  1. Most popular way, about which everyone who is not lazy writes. At first . This method is cheaper, but it has disadvantages. The biggest of them is that you need to correctly connect flights, and besides, you will fly an average of 25 hours, including transfers.

Taking air tickets Moscow - Ho Chi Minh City - Moscow, Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc - Ho Chi Minh City is risky, because. there is a chance that some flight will be postponed, and as a result, your entire chain may collapse. And due to long transplants, this risk increases to a very high one.

It is not too complicated, but it is still better to draw up detailed instructions in order to avoid surprises.

  • First, from the airport (or hotel) you need to get to the local bus station, which is called Mien Tay Bus Station. There you need to buy a ticket for one of the buses to the city of Rach Gia. They run at different times, but many tourists prefer the night bus.
  • The journey takes about 5 hours, there is one small stop along the way. The route ends at the bus station of the city of Ratzya, and from there you still need to get to the pier.

And then you can get there in two ways - by plane or by bus + ferry. The fastest and most comfortable way is to fly from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc with Vietjet Air in just 1 hour.

How to get to Fukuoka from Moscow? Very simple! Fly to Ho Chi Minh City and transfer to Vietjet to Fukuoka

So, to get to Phu Quoc Island from Moscow, you first need to fly to Vietnam. Most travelers fly with Aeroflot's direct flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Then, at the same airport, they transfer to a local airline flight to the island. If you are lucky, you can catch Vietnam Airlines tickets, they are cheaper and you will not need to collect luggage at the dock. Flights buy on Avisales.

See also flights Moscow - Phu Quoc with a change in Hanoi. From Hanoi, the flight is a little longer - 2 hours. Flying via Hanoi can sometimes be cheaper. Or tickets may remain only through the capital, when with a transfer in Saigon everything is already sold out. In any case, an hour more, an hour less, there is not much difference.

Also, often many tourists fly to Phu Quoc through China with one or two transfers in Guangzhou and Beijing with China Southern or Air China. Such air tickets usually cost a little less, you can save 5-7 thousand rubles from each ticket. But the travel time increases to 20-25 hours. You can buy flights from Moscow to Phu Quoc with a transfer in China here.

By the way, when flying through China, you will be given a Vietnamese visa for 30 days, and not 15, as in all other airports. This rule only applies to direct international flights. As I understand it, if you fly through Saigon or Hanoi, then upon arrival you will be given the usual Vietnamese 15-day stamp. You cannot get a 30-day stamp at a land border crossing.

It is better to buy air tickets "Moscow - Phu Quoc" immediately to the island, and not separately. Since in this case, if the flight from Moscow to Ho Chi Minh City is delayed and you do not have time for the plane to Fukuoka, then you will be put on the next flight at the expense of the airline. And if you buy separately, then the tickets "Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc" will be lost.

The flight to Ho Chi Minh takes about 9-10 hours. And you can fly to Fukuoka in a little less than 1 hour. Ideally, flights and connections take 13-15 hours. We flew from Moscow in the evening, flew to Vietnam in the morning, 2-4 hours of docking and by lunchtime you are already in Phukuoka. That is, such an option with docking is not at all tedious.

Visa to Vietnam for Russians

If you are flying on holiday to Vietnam, lasting up to 15 days, then a visa is not needed. If you want to stay longer, then get a visa on arrival for 1 or 3 months. Read more about the visa in the article -. You can also get a visa at the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia or in any other country. Of the documents you need only a passport and 1 photo. For example, in 2016 we visited by land and got a single entry tourist visa for 3 months at the Vietnamese Consulate in Cambodia at a cost of $55. Visa on arrival is cheaper, from 20 to 30 dollars, but you can get it only at the airport of Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang or Hanoi.

How to get to the hotel from the airport

Upon arrival to the island from Phu Quoc International Airport, take a taxi to the hotel. Official taxis stand outside the building. According to the meter, you can get to Long Beach for about 5-7 dollars (100-150 thousand dong) plus or minus. The price depends on the location of the hotel, the farther from the airport, the more expensive. I also heard about minibuses for $ 2 (45 thousand VND), which recruit people and deliver them to hotels. But even if there is no minibus, a taxi is quite affordable for everyone.

Book a private transfer you can on this site →

Where to stay

Based on personal experience, we recommend choosing hotels on Long Beach. The best part of the beach between Duong Dong town and the airport. Here is the most developed area, there are restaurants and shops. We do not recommend settling in the city, there is nothing interesting there and, most importantly, there is no beach in the city. In remote areas, including Bai Sao Beach, there is no infrastructure other than a hotel. So think carefully about where to stay on the island.

How to get to Fukuoka from Ho Chi Minh City

Flights from Vietjet Airlines usually cost no more than $30-40 per person, which is almost comparable in cost to a bus and a ferry. Only in time it turns out much faster. Buy tickets for Aviasales.

When purchasing Vietjet flights, please note that meals and baggage are not included in the ticket price. Meals on a short flight are not necessary, but if you are with luggage, then do not uncheck the boxes.

A mini life hack that will help you save a couple of dollars is to set a weight of 15 kg at the check-in stage (by default it is 20 kg). This will slightly reduce the cost of air tickets, but only if your bags weigh no more than 15 kg. If there is only one suitcase, then remove the paid baggage from the second passenger.

If you choose this option, then after the flight you will need to stay in Ho Chi Minh City for at least one night in order to buy a combined bus + ferry ticket in the evening, and leave early in the morning to catch the ship, which runs until 2 pm. But it's better to stay for a couple of days to see Ho Chi Minh City.

Ferries start from the cities of Rach Gia and Ha Tien. According to reviews it is better to go from Ha Tien. From there, besides, ferries are cheaper. We ourselves went by ship from Hatien when we went to Phu Quoc from Cambodia. Tickets cost 230 thousand dong ($10), and from Rach Gia 350 thousand.

You can buy bus and ferry tickets at travel agencies in Ho Chi Minh City. Many agencies organize a compound transfer "Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc". You can also buy a ticket at the box office on the pier. I don't think it makes sense to order in advance. There are several ferries per day. See the current ferry schedule on the official website of the Superdong carrier company - superdong.com.vn/en/dich-vu/

Travel time by ship is about an hour and a half. Be sure to take a warm jacket and socks into the salon, as it will be cold. All passengers are given a free bottle of water and a wet wipe. All the way through the television shows the Vietnamese stage. You can go out to breathe / smoke on deck.

How to get to the hotel from the pier in Fukuoka

Taxi drivers and minibus drivers meet you at the pier. A taxi from the pier to Long Beach costs $10, fixed price. They will take you on a minibus for $ 2 per person (45 thousand VND). Where to stay

Most travelers stay at Long Beach. We also recommend that area. If you look at the map, then look for hotels between Duong Dong and the airport. Do not settle in the city itself, there is nothing to do there and it is far from the sea. Read more about housing on the island in the article -.

Another good option is to take a night sleeper bus to Ho Chi Minh City, and then fly to the island. Such a trip will cost several times cheaper than flying all the way. Overnight on the road, at 5-6 in the morning you are in Ho Chi Minh City, then take a taxi directly to the airport and then fly to the island on the morning flight of Vietjet, Jetstar or Vietnam Airlines. Thus, without spending the night in Ho Chi Minh City, you will reach the island in one night and morning.

  • You can buy bus tickets from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City at Nha Trang travel agencies or on the 12GO website
  • You can buy flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc on the Aviasales website

Bus + bus + ferry

An option to reach for the most enduring travelers. Since after a night in a sleeper, you still have to travel 5 hours in a regular bus. See above for details on the Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route. Also, along this route, I don’t know for sure whether it will be possible to immediately leave for Hatien early in the morning or whether I will have to stop overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

How to get to Phu Quoc from Cambodia

In order not to repeat myself, I will briefly say how best to get there. Just buy a compound ticket (transfer) from a travel agency. For example, from Sihanoukville, such a minibus + ferry transfer cost us $ 22 per person. The same scheme can be reached from Phnom Penh. From Siem Reap, it is better to get first to Phnom Penh, Kep or Sihanoukville.

There is also an option to fly with a transfer in Saigon. Link to flights

Outcome

Getting to Fukuoka from Moscow is not as difficult as it might seem. The main thing is to catch and buy flights from Moscow to Phu Quoc at a good price. Ideally, take with one change in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi with a connection time of 2-4 hours. Flights through China are usually a little cheaper, however, they take longer and require two transfers.

An alternative to flying is to take a bus to the city of Hatien, and then get to Phu Quoc island by ship. We advise you to immediately buy a compound ticket at Ho Chi Minh travel agencies for a bus + ferry, so that you do not bother with Hatien, how to go from the bus station.

Traveling from Cambodia is also not difficult. Just take a transfer. Prices in Sihanoukville vary from office to office, but the average transfer costs $25.

All hotels in Fukuoka

You can get to Fukuoka by plane, or by bus and boat. Below we will tell you more about these two ways of traveling, and you choose how it will be more convenient for you to get to the paradise of Vietnam - Phu Quoc Islands.

By plane

Phu Quoc Airport is located in the very center of the island, 2 kilometers from the city of Duong Dong. It is a small airport and currently only accepts flights from domestic airlines such as Mekong airlines and Vietnam airlines. Currently, an active construction of an international airport is underway and it is possible very soon that it will be possible to be on the island by a direct flight from Russia. In the meantime, the average price for a ticket starts at $50. Flights to Phu Quoc depart regularly from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Kanto (Can Tho) and Rashgia (Rach Gia).

Upon arrival, at the exit from the airport, you will be offered a taxi or minibus, which will comfortably and for a small fee take you to your desired destination.

If you are planning an independent trip to Phu Quoc Island from Russia, then the most rational option would be to purchase a ticket to, and from it a plane ticket to Phu Quoc. And you can take a ticket to, but the distance to the island will be much longer. You can find out the best ticket prices using this window:

By bus

Of course, the journey by bus will take much more time and effort, but this method will save the budget. All buses to Fukuoka are sleeping buses, that is, they go on the road at night and arrive at their destination in the morning. When purchasing a ticket at a travel agency to the island, its price immediately includes a boat ticket that will take you to the east of the island. Quite convenient. But since the main town of Duong Dong is on the west side of Phu Quoc, you will have to take a bus to get there. Buses are already waiting for the arrival of tourists in the morning. Such a ticket to Fukuoka costs around $30. We recommend choosing this route to the island, as traveling on your own is only a few dollars cheaper and does not guarantee that you will reach your destination in time. And the last flight from the port leaves at 13:00 and if you do not make it by this time, you will have to stay in the port for a day waiting for the next one.

You can get to the island without the services of travel agencies, for this you need to buy a ticket to the port of Rashgia (Rach Gia) at the Mien Tay Bus Station in Ho Chi Minh City. Travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to the port is about 6 hours. Upon arrival at the port, you need to buy a boat ticket to Fukuoka, its cost ranges from 160,000 dong to 350,000 depending on the class of the cabin. Travel time by boat will be about 3 hours. Already on the way to the island, they begin to offer tickets for buses that deliver tourists to the western part of the island, they can be purchased on a boat or upon arrival at the shore.

Sea transportation services are provided by several companies, at approximately equal prices.

Transport in Phu Quoc

On the island, you can travel by rented transport, motorcycle taxi or a simple taxi. There is no public transport in Fukuoka. Taxi is quite expensive, and it will not be possible to drive it everywhere. You can only rent a car in Vietnam with a driver, and it's not cheap at all. The most convenient and economical option is to rent a bike. But this transport is only good if you have driving experience, as many roads on the island are in poor condition, in some places they simply do not exist.
