Bite signaling devices for the feeder. Making electronic bite alarms with your own hands How to make a homemade bite alarm

All fans of stationary fishing are divided into floaters and bottomers. And if the first bites are tracked by a change in the behavior of the floats, then the latter are forced to invent all kinds of bite signaling devices.

They even invented it to the point that they combined the signaling device with the tip of the rod. This is how the feeder quivertip appeared. But, nevertheless, all kinds of donks and, as well as some feeders, are equipped with various devices and mechanisms for the convenience of catching.

Do not forget about winter fishing enthusiasts, their fishing rods, for the most part, also have a bite indicator - a nod. They are also equipped with summer fishing rods, for example, when fishing with a tackle called "Side nod".

Types of signaling devices

All devices that monitor the bite on the donk or fishing rod are divided into sound and visual. Some mechanical devices and modern electronic signaling devices can combine both methods of notification.

Let's try to systematize biting indicators according to their design, how they work, according to the type of notification, according to their location on the bottom gear and other features:

  1. Pendulums.
  2. Nods.
  3. Bells.
  4. Fireflies.
  5. Electronic devices.

Let's consider each of them in detail.

Pendulums

The essence of all models of pendulum indicators is to control the mechanical displacement of any structural element. The simplest pendulum is a twig or piece of clay hung on a donkey line.

Modern bite signaling devices of this type are simple devices, which are a tube with two rings at the ends. Their choice is quite wide thanks to the products of our Chinese comrades presented on the modern fishing market, but they are easy to make yourself.

Homemade pendulum signaling device

Here is a quick guide on how to make a simple do-it-yourself bite alarm:

  1. We take a soft wire 30 centimeters long. The choice of elastic wire is also possible, only it will be more difficult to make a pendulum and use it.
  2. At one end we fold a loop with a diameter of about a centimeter.
  3. We put on a rod with a loop a plastic tube 10-15 centimeters long. In this case, the bent end of the wire should enter the tube by about one centimeter.
  4. We put some light bright body on our rod. It can be a body from an old float, a capsule from a chocolate egg (you can still put a couple of peas in it for sound) or something like that.
  5. Next, we put on a short one-two centimeter segment of the tube on the wire.
  6. We bend the loop at the end of the wire so that its plane is perpendicular to the first loop, and the cut off tip enters the small tube by one centimeter.
  7. We fasten the first loop in the rod ring, and pass the fishing line through the second.

This design works very simply. After casting, we stretch the line so that the pendulum takes a position of forty-five degrees relative to the blank. Now, when pulled, it will rise, and when loosened, it will fall.

Such signaling devices are also called "swingers", although in fact a swinger is a plumb line, which is mainly used in conjunction with an audible signaling device and looks like a load that is attached to a fishing rod stand on a chain or metal rod.

The swinger is put on the fishing line through the balls brought together in the upper part, which, when hooked, release the fishing line. Such devices are produced, for example, by Prology. Some of them are equipped with an electronic mini-device with batteries and LEDs for bite visualization in the dark.

nods

Nods are used in winter fishing and to equip a light summer fishing rod for mormyshka fishing. This tackle is called: "side nod".

Winter fishing rods, for the most part (except for float or vents), are equipped with nods. Moreover, a good half of anglers prefer to use a homemade bite signaling device - a nod made using their own technology.

A side bite alarm for a summer rod is also easy to make yourself. Here is the sequence of making this gear:

  1. We attach a piece of soft tube to the end of the fishing rod with tape or electrical tape, we will need it to mount the nod itself.
  2. We fix a soft, but elastic wire with one end in a prepared tube. In order to better hold the wire, you may need to bend it twice or three times.
  3. We bend the wire at an angle of ninety degrees to the rod.
  4. We place a bright element on the end of the wire, which will be clearly visible during the fishing process.
  5. At the end of the wire we make a loop for passing the fishing line.

Another option often used for donkeys is to attach the nod to the rod blank between the reel and the first ring. In both cases, in the fishing language, this side bite signaling device is called a “side nod”.

bells

In this category, we have included a variety of sound devices that help in fishing. This type of indication is used on bottoms at night or with a significant amount of bottom fishing gear that is not in the visibility zone. Among other things, sound alarms are the only choice of our visually impaired fellow hobbyists.

Sound indicators are:

  • small classic bells, they have long been equipped with bottom gear, including those with a rubber shock absorber;
  • bells - eggs on a clothespin, produced in abundance by the Chinese;
  • rattles, including homemade ones.

Fireflies

We have combined a rich variety of light indicators for catching fish at night into this category. The bite signaling device for night fishing with feeder or bottom tackle has evolved from a bright piece of paper that gives reflections in the firelight to modern electronic and chemical models.

In addition to the fact that indicator lights are part of many electronic devices, they are also available separately. Light indicators of bites can be chemical, electrical or luminous.

Electronic devices

Electronic bottom gear alarms are now available in every choice. Fishing with them, in addition to luck, brings to the process a share of technological progress and a sense of one's own "advancement" in the soul of the angler. The principle of operation of such devices is based on the passage of the fishing line between the contacts or on the vibration of the rod blank. Moreover, bite signals can be given by sound, light, or transmitted using radio waves to a pager.

It is not advisable to use a pager as a feeder bite signaling device, because with feeder fishing, the choice of indication is obvious - a quiver tip (sensitive tip). These devices are used by carp fishermen, who, after feeding the point and casting gear, rest in tents, waiting for a bite.

The simplest electronic bite alarm for the feeder is a small device that is attached to the rod blank. A fishing line is passed through its contacts and an audible signal is heard when it is shifted.

At the next level there are indicators that are attached to the rodpod or. The principle of their work is also based on the length of the fishing line between the contacts. Modern fishing shops can offer a whole set of bite alarms in a separate case.

Such gadgets are often used in carp fishing. Each of these devices has its own signal melody and light indication, which helps the angler to correctly identify the fishing rod on which the bite occurred. To fix the bite to the shore, you need a swinger that pulls the line with its weight.

Separately, it is necessary to talk about the device, which works, like the “Strike alert” already mentioned above, due to the vibration of the blank. This is the Megatex Electronic Bite Signaling Device, which is a light and sound device. It is easily attached to the rod and adjusted to different degrees of sensitivity. And the model "Joy-3" is a truly smart biting signaling device. It can also be used on due to the miniature size of the device.

Instructions for self-production

There is a category of anglers who prefer hand-made fishing accessories to store gear. And if every Left-hander can make pendulum signaling devices or nods, then to make an electronic model you need to become Kulibin. There are always articles from the Internet with a variety of electrical circuits to help.

For those who are not particularly strong in schemes, we present a design based on a banal electronic key fob from our beloved Chinese brothers:

  1. We fix the keychain on the stand for the feeder.
  2. The contacts of the device are brought out.
  3. We close the button of the key fob-tweeter.
  4. We attach a strip of plastic one millimeter thick to the fishing line.
  5. Insert the strip into the gap between the contacts.

Here we have assembled the simplest do-it-yourself electronic bite signaling device. Now, when biting, the plastic will slip out due to the movement of the fishing line and close the contacts. A beep will sound - it's time to cut. In order for this model to work even when the fishing line is weakened when biting to the shore, it is necessary to use a swinger with it.

Another option for making a bite indicator light is in the next video.

So, it's time to figure out what kind of signaling devices for the feeder are. Their types, application features, and how to make home-made bite alarms for the feeder at home.

All feeder signaling devices can be divided into three types: sound, visual and combined. But such a classification will be rather superficial, since according to the principle of robots and designs are the same, sound alarms can be very different.

Signaling devices for the feeder according to the principle of operation are:

  • pendulum;
  • Light (fireflies)
  • nods;
  • Sound (bells, bells, rattles);
  • Electronic

The most common pendulum feeder signaling device (pic 1) It is a tube that has a small loop at one end, attached to the first ring from the reel, and a barrel at the second end, a large loop comes out of it, which clings to the fishing line.

Pendulum signaling device

After casting, we tighten the fishing line just enough so that the bite signaling device sags a little. During the bite: pull (the fish pulls the tackle from the shore) - the signaling device rises, release (the fish pulls the tackle towards the shore) - falls. If this pendulum signaling device breaks down, you are not in a hurry to get upset, keep its barrel for yourself and then I will tell you how to make a homemade bite signaling device for the feeder out of it (swinger).

Some fishermen, with a weak bite, attach a sound signaling device to a pendulum one. The only condition of the buzzer should be light. Such signaling devices are preferable because they have a low price.

When buying a pendulum signaling device, you need to pay attention so that there are holes on the barrel of the signaling device, they are needed in order to insert an ampoule - a firefly during night fishing. This ampoule contains a chemical element, and when we break it, it will begin to glow, so that we can see the bite. They are usually sold two per pack. Enough of such an ampoule for one night, and they are inexpensive.

Previously, as a pendulum signaling device, we used a piece of clay or earth stuck to a fishing line, a twig, a clothespin.

DIY pendulum

We take a wire 30 cm long (the wire should bend easily and not break). We bend one edge of the wire, making a loop with a diameter of 1 cm, but so that after the loop you still have 1 cm of wire, we put a 10-15 cm long juice tube on the wire. they have a hole in them. We put it in such a way that the float sits rigidly, but at the same time the tube does not stick out of it. Then, on the wire, we put on another piece of the tube, 2 cm long and bend the wire so as to make a loop 2-3 cm long, cut off the excess wire so that after the loop we have another 1 cm of wire. Then we bend the resulting loop at an angle of 90 degrees to the rest of the body of the signaling device.

Arriving at the reservoir, we will fix a small loop, for the first throughput ring from the coil, then we will hide a piece of wire 1 cm long in the body of the tube, fixing our signaling device. After we pass the fishing line through the large ring and again hide the free centimeter segment into the tube, finally fixing our home-made feeder signaling device. In order to remove it, we take out the short ends of the wire from the tubes.

A very quick option - we take a corrugated tube from the juice, close its holes with a cork made of foam, thread a barrel from a kinder surprise or an old float into it, then fasten paper clips in a plastic coating around the edges. Our alarm is ready.

Feeder signaling device (Swinger)

Unlike a conventional pendulum, such a feeder signal does not hang on the rod rings, reducing the casting distance and creating the possibility that the tackle will become tangled. And they don't sway much in the wind either.

The design of these signaling devices is as follows, one edge has a passage ring, through which the swinger is attached to the rod stand. The rack must be collapsible. The horn is removed, and at the bottom it has a tube into which we thread the edge of the swinger, then we insert the horn back into the rack. Well, this is ideally, there are a variety of racks and in some, a different mounting option is provided, the main thing is that your swinger is firmly fixed. Then, on the opposite edge, we have a clamp through which we pass the fishing line. The clamp has a nut, with the help of which we can regulate the force of the fishing line clamp. Also, most swingers are equipped with barrels where you can insert a firefly. Some swingers have a weight to adjust the weight of the signaling device, if you move the weight closer, then light pulls will be invisible, so we cut off false bites, if you move the weight close to the rack, then our tackle becomes more sensitive.

For convenience (so as not to stand and look at him all the time), a bell, a bell clings to the swinger, or it goes in conjunction with an electronic feeder signaling device.

DIY Swinger

It is very easy to make a homemade bite signaling device for a feeder (swinger), for this we need a barrel from the broken signaling device we have, you can also take a yellow barrel from a kinder surprise and make holes in it from above and below. Then, we take a piece of wire, bend it in half and insert it into the central hole of the barrel, so that on one side we have a small loop, and on the other, two protruding edges of the wire 1 cm long. We put two beads on them. We attach a piece of nylon thread to the loop.

homemade swinger

The principle of operation of such a feeder signaling device is simple. We rigidly fasten the free end of the kapron thread to the rod stand, fishing platform. Then, after we have thrown the tackle, we take our barrel and hook it onto the fishing line, passing it between two beads. When biting, we make hooking, the nylon thread is pulled and the feeder signaling device flies off the fishing line, so that we can safely reel out the tackle. Having carried out the recast, we again cling to the fishing line. You can attach a bell to the loop, and in addition to the visual one, our signaling device will also become a sound one, and if you also insert a firefly ampoule into the side hole, then it will be very difficult to miss a bite at night.

Light indicators of bites for the feeder

Feeder firefly signaling device. As mentioned earlier, there are two of them in the package, plus a cambric (tube) - for attaching this signaling device to the float. Many sound and pendulum signaling devices initially have holes for attaching such fireflies, but it is only necessary to select a firefly for the diameter of such signaling devices for the feeder. The diameter of the firefly can be seen on the package, but the diameter of the hole of other signaling devices is not always written on the case, and it is better to take them with you to the store and already there, with the support of the seller, choose the firefly that suits you.

In order to activate the light signaling device for the feeder, it must be broken. Inside the flask there is a liquid, and in the center, a tube with a chemical element, the tube breaks, the chemical element mixes with the liquid and starts to give light, for greater efficiency, the firefly must be shaken.

Firefly, fastening on the tip of the whip

If you are used to determining bites by the sensitive tip of the tip, then this firefly can be attached to it with the help of an adapter. True, there is one thing here, but the adapter cannot be attached to the edge of the tip, as it will hang out. Normally, it will be possible to fix it only closer to the middle. Of course, you will see bites, but this is less effective than if he was on the most sensitive part of the rod - the tip of the whip. It is in this position that you can see even the weakest pulls.

Inexpensive electronic firefly feeder signaling devices are also on sale. It is attached to the tip of the rod and in the working position it lights up green, when the fish attacks the bait, it starts flashing red. It is equipped with a detector that recognizes waves, wind and current. Battery operated.

Therefore, we take scissors, and cut off two rings 3-4 mm thick from the cambric. Then we pass these rings through the edge of the tip. It is necessary to put on the rings, on the tip ring, from below, the tube is elastic and stretches quite well, so that you will not tear the ring. Then the firefly feeder signaling device is rigidly fixed on the tip of the rod with the help of these rings.

Feeder signaling nod

A vivid example of this signaling device is the very sensitive tip of the feeder rod itself (whip, feeder tip, quiver tip, you can call it differently, the main thing is that its sensitivity is sufficient to transmit a bite signal). When we cast the tackle and put the rod on the stand, we wind the line so that the whip is a little tight, and now when the fish is pulled, it will bend even more, and straighten when released.

Homemade feeder bite signaling nod

But it is not always possible to use a rod with a sensitive tip, and in general, due to limited budgets, many anglers use a regular . In these cases, anglers often equip their blanks with homemade signaling devices, which are called "lateral nod". This nod is attached between the coil and the first ring. Fishing shops sell metal nods for winter rods with an elastic band that has three holes, one for attaching the elastic to the rod, the second for the nod and the third for the fishing line. With the help of electrical tape or adhesive tape (3-4 turns), we attach such an elastic band to the rod at a distance of 10-15 cm from the reel, so that when we insert the nod, it is perpendicular

side nod

rod, previously on an elastic band, in a place for attaching a nod, we cut the tape with a knife. At the opposite end of the nod, we have a ring, we cut a small hole in it so that after casting we can start a fishing line. The tackle is ready. For better fixation of the fishing line on the rod, you can make an additional hook on the nod itself. It is made from ordinary wire, one edge is bent in the shape of a hook, the second is threaded into the ring of a nod and bent. And with the help of pliers we firmly fix it. Then, take another piece of wire and fold it in half, then bend one edge. The resulting second hook is attached to the rod as on pic 2. When winding it to the rod, in order not to damage the blank, you must first wind two or three turns of electrical tape on it, and only then attach the hook to it.

Side nod fig. 2

Also, for the manufacture of such a feeder signaling device, you can use any other soft tube 4-5 cm long and 2-3 mm in diameter. Then we take our nod, a springy wire 15-20 cm long is suitable for the role of a nod, just do not take it too hard, otherwise the sensitivity will be weak. From one end, we bend the edge 3-4 cm at an angle of 90 degrees and fasten it into the tube. At the opposite end, we make a bend in the shape resembling the letter Z, each bend of such a hook is 1 cm long. After we have cast, we tighten the fishing line and put it into the Z-shaped hook of the signaling device. For better visualization, we need to paint our hook in a bright color.

Bite alarms for feeder bells (bells)

We have already talked a little about them earlier, these are devices of simple design, consisting of a clip-mount and a sound element (although bells can only have a through hole). They are attached to the edge of the rod.

Bell and bell

In order for the sound feeder signaling device to work, after casting, the tip of the rod must be stretched a little, and then when biting (pulling or releasing), the tip will begin to bend and the bell will give a signal that it is time to hook. Unfortunately, this method of fastening is far from perfect, since when biting, there is a chance that the bell will stop the line or fly off the rod during the fight. Therefore, it will be more effective to take an elastic band, attach one edge to the rod stand at a distance of 20 cm from its upper edge, the second edge directly or through a carabiner to the bell pass-through ring, on the other hand we attach the hook and hook it to the fishing line near the reel. If you are attaching a bell, or the bell does not have a separate access ring, but only a clip, then the leg of the hook or carabiner must be of the required length and thickness so that the clip can be fixed behind them. The length of the elastic must be selected so that the hooked hook pulls the fishing line a few centimeters. After hooking, make sure that the hook has flown off the line, and only then start reeling out the tackle.

Now the feeder signaling bell will not be lost during casting, as it will be installed after. If you are going to fish with several rods, then it is better to use several bells with different tonality.

In order to give the bells maximum sensitivity, it is necessary to stretch the springs.

Do-it-yourself bell

You can make bells yourself, they are two balls, inside of which there is a bearing, when it hits the wall of the ball, a sound is made. So, we take two spiral wires, about 10 cm long, we attach them to our balls. Then we attach the free ends of the wire to a clothespin or crocodile. That's all. Although these homemade bite alarms for the feeder are very rare, since they are easier to buy at any fishing store for a small price.

Electronic signaling devices for feeder

These signaling devices can report a bite with a sound, light or light-sound signal. In carp fishing, signaling devices are used that notify of a bite on a pager. At the same time, it has several different receiving channels so that you can always recognize which feeder signaling device has worked.

The signaling device determines the bite by changing the tension of the fishing line between the contacts, and some models can separately notify about the pull and release, and this is a definite plus. There are also signaling devices that determine the bite by the vibration of the rod, such feeder signaling devices are considered more accurate, since they are minimally affected by wind and current.

electronic signaling device

They have a number of advantageous advantages over their mechanical counterparts:

  • Higher sensitivity
  • Less chance of triggering false bites.
  • The presence of an electronic board that recognizes the fluctuation of the fishing line caused by waves or wind. So we are no longer dependent on weather conditions.
  • If you are fishing with several rods at the same time, then such a device makes it possible to quickly determine on which blank the bite occurred.
  • These devices have only one drawback - their price, and most of these feeder signaling devices are designed for installation on a kind of hearth, which further increases their cost. Therefore, electronic signaling devices should be purchased by those who are sure that the feeder is their way of fishing. These signaling devices are effective when catching large fish (for example, carp), since you can throw tackle and go to the tent without fear of missing a bite, carp do not bite often. They are also suitable for those who like to relax in nature, when you can put fishing rods and do barbecue or other things.

When buying electronic signaling devices, you need to pay attention to the following points:

Among anglers, the most popular are relatively inexpensive, but reliable bite signaling devices for the feeder, such as:

  • "Barracuda" T5, waterproof due to the rubberized body, has a light and sound alarm, it is possible to adjust the sound power, tone, and it also has the ability to adjust the bite sensitivity. Powered by Krona battery.
  • "Kosadaka" T4 as well as "Barracuda" T5, battery operated "Krona", waterproof, very energy-efficient, you can adjust the volume and tone of the sound. When biting, it also gives a light signal. Manufacturer Japan.

Megatex Jay 3 a small device that is mounted on the rod so that it is convenient to turn it on after a recast. The bottom line is, bite, the signaling device determines by the vibration of the blank, and when the fish attacked the bait, it starts to give a signal so as not to drain the battery and not annoy the neighbors, during hooking, the signaling device turns off, when we re-cast the tackle, we press the button again. It consumes very little energy, due to which, according to the manufacturer, it is able to work for about 5 years without requiring battery replacement. It has a relatively low price, which is why it is also popular with anglers. Many fishermen complain about a rather high percentage of defects, so when buying, check its serviceability in the store. It is also undesirable to use it in the rain, although it is considered waterproof. Manufacturer Russia

Popular expensive, but more functional feeder signaling devices that allow you to receive information on a pager:

  • EOSC-9004- the set consists of 4 signaling devices, a walkie-talkie, a case for transportation. Adjustable volume, tone, sensitivity, has a customizable light signaling device. The bite signal is transmitted over a distance of 200 m. The manufacturer is China, but this did not affect the strength and reliability of this signaling device. You can connect a swinger to this signaling device. He also has a memory of the last bite.
  • Delkim also consists of 4 alarm sensors and a pager. This signaling device has a memory that allows, even after a long time, to obtain information on which particular fishing rod the bite occurred and its intensity. The pager has a vibration signal, so you can avoid unnecessary noise. The functionality of this signaling device is very high, as well as the price itself. Transmission distance 200 m. Made in Great Britain

Homemade electronic bite alarm for feeder

You can make a home-made electronic bite signaling device for the feeder, and for this we ourselves need a regular squeaker keychain. So, we hook a thin, 1-2 mm thick strip of plastic onto the fishing line. Then we attach the keychain to the rod stand. After we insert the plate into the gap between the contacts of the key fob. When biting, the fish will pull the line and the plastic will fly out of the contacts, they will close, and a signal will sound. Unfortunately, such an alarm will not work on the release, so it must be combined with a swinger.

So, now you know what kind of feeder signaling devices are, and which home-made, mechanical or electronic one to choose depends on your budget and fishing preferences.

On every fishing trip, it is important to always clearly determine the moment of bite. Many experienced anglers prefer to make their own bite alarm, although there are many industrial accessories for this.

Depending on the method of fishing, equipment, as well as weather conditions, certain devices may be used.

Types of existing signaling devices

The most famous and most used bite signaling device is regular float used in various equipment when fishing with a float rod. But in recent years, bite alarms for the feeder have become very popular. This is not surprising, given how popular this method of catching bottom fish is becoming.

There are several types of devices that help the angler not to miss the bite. This:

  • visual indicators;
  • sound alarms;
  • hybrid;
  • various electronic devices that can be attributed to both visual and sound.

The visual category includes: various nods, beacons, fireflies, pendulums, luminous tubes etc. These are simple devices, the main working parts of which are made as bright as possible to attract the attention of the fisherman.

Expert opinion

Knipovich Nikolai Mikhailovich

Interesting! For greater preservation of luminous tubes, some manufacturers recommend storing them in the refrigerator.

Audible alarms include bells, bells, metal tubes etc. Sound devices compare favorably with the fact that the angler does not need to constantly watch them. A sound will alert him to a bite.

Electronic devices are mainly industrial products which can be purchased at retail outlets. The main disadvantage of electronic assistants is their high price and insufficient security from the influence of external factors (water, sun, dust).

The feeder signaling device can be attached to different parts of the equipment, for example:

    1. At the very tip of the feeder rod. Despite the fact that the tips of such rods themselves are considered quite sensitive and informative, the signaling devices installed there are never superfluous, with their help, the definition of hooking becomes much more timely. Their main drawback is that before hooking or immediately after it, when playing fish, this device must be removed from the tip of the blank.
  1. Directly at the butt of the rod, usually between the first and second access ring. Most often it is attached side bite alarm for feeder. The main element of such devices is various elastic plates or springs.
  2. Another option is to attach the device to a rod stand. Most often, nods of various designs are attached in this way, which are complemented bells or bells.

Do-it-yourself bite alarms for a feeder, as a rule, take into account all the features of the gear for which they are adapted, besides, they are much simpler and more reliable, and therefore can be much more effective than industrial designs.

Model options

Nod

Perhaps this do-it-yourself feeder bite signaling device can be considered one of the simplest, but also one of the most sensitive. To make it you will need:

  1. 10 - 15 cm piece of any springy material of small section. It can be an elastic wire, a steel plate or a spring.
  2. A polymer or durable rubber tube 3 to 5 cm long. It is useful for attaching a nod to the tip of the form.
  3. Colored varnish.

At one end of the elastic element (nod body), with the help of round-nose pliers, you need to make a small loop (ring) for threading the main fishing line into it. After that, using a polymer or rubber tube, the nod is attached to the tip of the fishing rod. This fastening should be tight, but at the same time - not interfere with changing the length of the working part of the nod. This allows you to adjust its sensitivity. For greater visibility of the nod, you need to cover its body with a bright, waterproof varnish.

After fixing the nod, we thread the fishing line through its ring, equip it and start fishing. Since the material from which it is made is quite elastic, it is not required to disconnect it from the blank during hooking and subsequent fighting.

Such a homemade bite signaling device, after equipping the rod with it, can serve for a long time without repair and additional adjustment.

Firefly

Firefly, this is a signaling device for a feeder, designed to detect bites at night. As a rule, this is the name of polymer tubes, which, after their fracture, better in several places, due to a chemical reaction, begin to glow in the dark. They are usually supplemented with visual homemade bite signaling devices for the feeder. It is also possible to attach such a tube, 3 to 6 centimeters long, to the flexible tip of the feeder rod. This is done using a colorless adhesive tape or a polyethylene tube of a suitable diameter.

In addition to such luminous tubes, you can use various phosphorescent (glow in the dark) materials and paints, as well as miniature LEDs.

The principle of their operation is the same - fixing mechanical signaling devices (nods, pendulums, etc.) on the working elements.

In this simple way, you can do light indicator bites on the feeder, which will be noticeable at any time of the night from a distance up to 10 - 15 meters.

Side signaling device

Consider how you can make a side bite signaling device for a feeder. Its principle of operation is the same as that of the nod, but the difference is that it is fixed a little higher than the butt of the stick, in front of the first wire ring. To make such a bite signaling device on the feeder, you will need the following:

  1. Elastic wire or thin metal plate about 200 mm long.
  2. Thick rubber ring 30 - 50 mm wide, with an inner diameter identical to the diameter of the fishing rod at the point where the signaling device is attached. To do this, for example, you can look at a car shop of suitable sizes for a silent block from a car.
  3. Colored tubes according to wire diameter.

Manufacturing process:

    1. First, we prepare fasteners from a rubber ring. To do this, you must first cut it on one side so that you can put it on the form from the side.
    2. After that, in the rubber fastener, in order to be able to fix it perpendicular to the form of the elastic wire, it is necessary to make a hole. The hole can be made with a hot-hot nail of a suitable diameter.

Expert opinion

Knipovich Nikolai Mikhailovich

Zoologist, hydrobiologist. I am a professional fisherman.

Attention! The hole can be made along the whip or perpendicular, depending on the size of the rubber ring. If the hole is made along the rod body, the end of the wire that will be inserted into it must be bent at an angle of 90 degrees.

  1. At one end of the wire (metal plate), we make a hook with the help of round-nose pliers. A line will be inserted into it.
  2. We fix the colored cambric near the hook. This will make the alarm more visible.
  3. We insert the elastic element into the rubber housing of the fastener perpendicular to the fishing rod. The signaling device is ready to work.

After casting the tackle, insert the line into the ring and wait for a bite. When biting, when the line is pulled, the elastic element of the device will bend down to the rod body. When hooking and playing such feeder bite alarms no need to take off, they do not interfere with the actions of the angler at all.

It is quite possible to supplement such a hand-made signaling device for a feeder with a small firefly, this will allow it to be effectively used for fishing at night.

Sound notification

The most common and simple sound bite alarms are considered ordinary single or double bells, which are attached to the very tip of the form with a clothespin.

Also often used are a variety of bells that need to be attached to a fishing line, 10 - 15 centimeters from the tip of the stick. Under their weight, some sagging of the fishing line is created. When biting, the fishing line pulls the bell and a melodic sound is heard.

In order for the bell to hold securely on the fishing line, you will need a piece of dense, thick rubber. On the one hand, a bell is attached to it with the help of a ring, on the other hand, a cut is made in the rubber, approximately to its middle. When installing the bell, a fishing line is inserted into this slot, which, due to the friction force and elasticity of the rubber itself, is held quite securely.

It would also be useful to fasten the bell, with a cord or old fishing line, to the end of the form. This will help not to lose it after hooking. Such a do-it-yourself bite signaling device is, perhaps, every experienced angler. It is very sensitive, simple and effective. And only with a strong wind, with a buildup, it can give a lot of false signals.

Bites are an important element in modern fishing tackle, the task of which is to indicate the bite of a fish. These devices have come to replace the bells and various rattles that have already become ancient in the fishing environment.

Alarms are of the following types:

  1. Mechanical.
  2. Electronic.

Visual bite alarms should be selected based on the place of catch and the tackle that the fisherman will use.

Tackle with a sliding weight is designed for fishing in coastal areas. For this type of gear, it is better to use electronic identifiers with high sensitivity and mechanical signaling devices with the smallest possible weight for line tension.

Many fishermen do not really like to use such “newfangled” signaling devices that have a rather high price and there is no mistake in this, since the bite signaling device is not the main equipment, such as a fishing rod or bait, but only an additional one.

Therefore, whether to use it or not, everyone should decide for themselves, besides, now you can make such bite alarms with your own hands, which will be much cheaper, and in quality will not be inferior even to the average identifier.

Visual bite indicators

Visual (mechanical) biting identifiers are a type of biting indicators. They are of the following varieties:

  1. Swingers.
  2. Hangers (or bats).
  3. "Monkey".
  4. Springers.

1. Swingers

The swinger is a very popular mechanical signaling device for carp fishing. It looks like a small plastic head with a special clip for attaching fishing line. On the other side of the clamp, a lever is attached to which a weight is attached. The other side of the lever is adapted to a hinge with a bracket that attaches to the rod stand.

The swinger line for the fishing process is inserted into the clamp, and the degree of its tension is adjusted by moving the weight along the lever - the closer it is to the plastic head, the greater the tightness of the line. The most optimal line tension should not be too tight, but sagging is also not necessary.

A swing weight usually weighs no more than 100g, which is enough to set the right line tension even in a body of water with a strong current. If the fisherman does not manage to balance his tackle, then in such cases the use of additional cargo is allowed.

2. Hangers

Hangers are an oval made of plastic, at the top of which there is a small clip for fishing line, and collapsible weights are attached at the bottom to make it possible to adjust the tension of the fishing line. The signaling device itself adapts to the front crossbar using a small chain. Hangers are most often used when catching fish on various lakes and ponds.

When fishing in a body of water with a strong current or at a fairly long distance, this signaling device usually lacks the necessary weight of the weights that are included in the kit, for sufficient line tension. Therefore, many firms manufacture additional weights with a large weight for catching in such an environment.

The main advantage of hangers, or as they are also called “bats”, is a very good sensitivity compared to all other visual identifiers. In addition, it also has excellent mobility, so it will catch a very careful, barely perceptible bite, which is a weighty argument in its favor.

The disadvantage of the hanger is its instability to gusts of wind. Therefore, for such conditions, an instance with a steel bracket will be the most suitable. Such devices usually contain an already mounted LED, and they are quite practical for transportation and quickly enough to be put into place in the stand.

3. "Climbing Monkey"

The climbing monkey is made from an oblong steel rod that goes into the ground under the rod between the reel and the electronic ID. A plastic cylinder moves along the rod, under which the fishing line adapts, and its tightness is adjusted using special weights that are attached to the cylinder.

When cutting, the weight comes off the rod and weakens the line. The main advantage of this device is its good durability, which does not allow a false signal to be triggered when biting. The main disadvantage is low sensitivity.

4. Springers

Springers are made of plastic and are shaped like a cylinder that attaches to a fairly flexible rod. This rod adapts to the crossbar thanks to a special adapter. The tension of the fishing line can be adjusted due to the good flexibility of the graphite rod with a special additional lever, which is located in the adapter.

Springers are quite sensitive. They are strong and functional during transportation, as they do not take up much space. Their only drawback is poor line tension.

Advantages of visual signaling devices:

  1. Provides great sensitivity gear.
  2. Provides an opportunity for trouble-free and quick regulation of the tension of the fishing line.
  3. They adjust very quickly and accurately for fish biting, without giving false signals due to wind, waves, etc.
  4. Large selection of models.

Disadvantages of visual signaling devices: difficult installation of these devices.

Basic requirements for visual signaling devices

The main characteristics that high-quality bite alarms must meet:

  1. They should be visible on different backgrounds of nature (on grass, on water, etc.).
  2. Have the opportunity for the fastest and most problem-free mounting on the stand.
  3. Contain a built-in LED that will glow when the fish are biting.
  4. Do not stagger in gusts of wind, be persistent.
  5. To be able to independently regulate the degree of tightness of the fishing line.
  6. Instantly repel line, .

Visual alarms are best purchased with the following characteristics:

  1. The presence of additional lighting.
  2. The possibility of movement of the swinger arm in the hinge without unnecessary friction.
  3. The function of quick adjustment of the degree of tension of the fishing line.
  4. The presence of a removable platform for mounting, which can quickly attach and detach the indicator, and will also connect the necessary connectors to the electronic indicator.
  5. The presence of a slow adjustment of the clamping force of the clip.
  6. The clip must be made of quality material and by a trusted manufacturer (beware of cheap low-quality fakes).

Acoustic (electronic) bite alarms

The principle of operation of electronic devices is that it “tells” the fisherman about the bite of the fish in time, even if he does not see the fishing rods. It will also help to instantly react to a barely perceptible bite of a carp, informing about it with a special sound signal.

Such signaling devices differ among themselves by the presence of various built-in functions and adjustments. For example, these can be functions for adjusting sound, light, tone, adjusting sensitivity, etc. The number of such functions largely depends on the price of a particular indicator model.

How does an electronic signaling device work?

In order for the electronic identifier to be useful when catching fish, it is necessary to configure it as correctly as possible.

The principle of operation of the electronic signaling device:

  1. Based on the use of a roller sensor.
  2. The line is passed through the instrument roller.
  3. When biting, the fishing line begins to move around, moving this roller.
  4. Then the electrical circuit diverges and an audible signal (sound or flashing light) is emitted.

Electronic signaling devices are of the following types:

  1. Sound.
  2. Light.
  3. Swinger.
  • Sound. Sound signaling devices are considered the simplest, as they are equipped with a quiet sound signal, without additional functions. In newer models, there is also sensitivity regulation and additional settings for fishing conditions. Such a device, when biting a fish, notifies the fisherman with a sound.
  • Light. Such a signaling device is attached to the tip of the fishing rod and lights up in green. When biting, it starts flashing red. Runs on small batteries. More suitable for night fishing.
  • Swinger. The swinger is designed to monitor the bite of the fish due to the movements of the weight, and its signaling device can notify about the bite and light and sound signals.
  • Signaling device equipped with a pager. The signaling device, which is equipped with a special pager, has the following advantages:
    • Thanks to the pager, you can determine which fishing rod was biting.
    • You can go long distances and are not afraid that you will miss a bite. The pager can notify about this at a distance of up to 200 meters.
    • The pager can be used both wired and wireless.

Tips for choosing a pager:

  1. It is better to choose pagers that have a discharge indication so that the fisherman can see in time when he needs to be recharged.
  2. It will be more convenient to buy several signaling devices with a pager.
  3. When choosing a pager, you should pay attention to its functions. They must be adjustable, like signaling devices.

Basic requirements for sound (electronic) signaling devices

Basic requirements for electronic bite alarms:

  1. Ease of use. When choosing a signaling device while still in the store, the fisherman should try to set it up on his own. It is necessary that he can easily adjust all the settings, because when fishing, it will be much more difficult to make settings with wet hands.
  2. The presence of reliable protective covers, which can save the signaling device and significantly save the fisherman's time during installation and space in the car during transportation.
  3. Minimum power consumption. It is necessary that the battery of the signaling device can allow it to be used for quite a long time, so that the fisherman does not recharge or change the batteries before each fishing trip.
  4. signaling reliability. Since the weather conditions for catching fish are very different (from rain to winter frost), it is best if the bite alarm is “packed” in a hermetic case that cannot let water or moisture through.

When buying a sound signaling device, it is desirable that it has the following characteristics:

  1. Additional presence of a counter.
  2. Well-differentiated issued sounds when biting "to the shore" and "from the shore", so that the fisherman does not confuse these signals.
  3. Availability of several outputs for the possibility of connecting a backlit indicator and an external transmitter.
  4. The presence of a high-brightness LED.
  5. Possibility of feeding the biting indicator from widely available means.
  6. Good sound and the ability to turn off the sound completely.
  7. Sufficient memory for settings.
  8. Confirmation signals with very quiet sounds that will not disturb or distract.
  9. The presence of the most convenient handle in rotary type regulators, allowing them to be rotated even with a wet hand.
  10. The presence of a separate power switch, which will be located in the upper zone of the bite indicator.

Additional options that may be in electronic bite alarms:

  1. Possibility to choose the appropriate color of the LEDs.
  2. The presence of a special button, the function of which is to temporarily turn off during the installation of fishing rods.
  3. The presence of a test mode to determine the footage of the pager.
  4. Connector for connecting swingers.
  5. Energy-saving mode (for those cases when the pager is not very far from the signaling devices).
  6. Function of definition of the category of batteries.
  7. Constant glow when pulling from the shore.
  8. The presence of a flashing light bulb when biting towards the shore.
  9. Built-in theft alarm.
  10. Backlight for night time.

Installing bite alarms

The installation of biting signaling devices is done in this way:

  1. The feeder adapts on a stand (the most convenient stand is Rod-Pod).
  2. The bite identifier is attached to the stand using a special threaded hole.
  3. A fishing line is threaded through the roller of the electronic indicator.
  4. The friction brake is released (only if the reel is not equipped with the system).
  5. Special settings are made for the volume, tone of sound, light and the degree of sensitivity on the bite indicator.
  6. The length of the pull is adjusted, which depends on the location of the catch, as well as the power of the gusts of wind (usually its length is from five millimeters to 4-5 centimeters).

Use visual and audible alarms together or one of them is enough

It is usually customary to use both alarms together, since together they give a much better and more accurate result. The use of both types of identifiers at the same time is very convenient for the fisherman, since when catching carp, they often use several fishing rods on which these auxiliary devices can be installed.

In addition, the fisherman may not be near the tackle all the time, since an electric signaling device with the help of a pager will inform him of a bite even tens of meters away.

  1. You should always have at least one extra set of power supply for alarms and pager in stock.
  2. To protect yourself from fishing incidents, after catching fish, you must immediately turn off the pager and signaling device so that they do not run out of power.
  3. It is necessary to carefully pack the pager and signaling devices so that they cannot accidentally turn on during transportation.
  4. It is advisable to use special protective packaging for signaling devices that will protect these devices from damage and various breakdowns.
  5. When recasting the gear and adjusting the tension of the fishing line, you need to turn off the sound of the signaling device so as not to disturb the fishermen who are nearby with this sound.

Today we offer the topic: "a few tips on how to make a bite alarm with your own hands" from professional anglers. We tried to cover the topic as fully as possible. You can ask all questions in the comments after the article.

  • A few tips on how to make a bite alarm with your own hands

    Every experienced fisherman knows that for good fishing you need to equip your rods with bite alarms. They help to react in time to light touches of the fish on the bait, and determine when exactly you need to hook it.

    Now fishing tackle is sold in many specialized stores, but the cost of all of them is different. And here the invention and practice of experienced fishermen comes to the rescue. Do-it-yourself bite signaling devices are easy to create. The only thing you need is desire, a small amount of money and detailed instructions.

    To perceive signals about the touch of a fish, a person can use various organs: hands, ears, eyes.

    It can be a rod, float, or a firefly for fishing at night. The simplest kind is a float, by which it is easy to determine the bite of fish. It can be made from goose feather, foam or cork.

    On spinning and donk, you can determine the touch of the fish only by the tip of the rod. Therefore, you can make a device - a nod, which requires an iron spring or plate. It is attached to the tip of the rod, a fishing line is passed through it. And any fish bite will be even more noticeable.

    They are recommended for night fishing. It could be bells, the ringing of which is audible for several meters. You can also use a regular nut, which is placed in an iron tube and fixed to the fishing line.

    One of the options for such a signaling device can be a device made from a conventional clockwork spring, or a piece of tape measure. A plastic strip is attached to one side of such a spring, and a hook on which it will hang on the other. This simple design is the signaling device. Professional fishermen have some tips on how to make a bite sounder out of an ordinary shop bell. For this you need:

    • buy the most primitive bell, and remove from it everything that hangs on it;
    • we take a regular rubber hose up to 3 centimeters in diameter. The main requirement for it is thin walls;
    • you need to take a piece of this hose 1.5 centimeters and cut it off;
    • you need to make an oval out of this rubber ring, for this you need to cut any side and stretch the ring;
    • Next, you need to take a bolt and 2 nuts. The size of the bolt must be such that it freely enters the ear of the bell;
    • at one end of the rubber oval, you need to cut a hole that will be equal to the diameter of the bolt;
    • the prepared bolt is threaded into the hole of the rubber ring with the cap inside. Thus, you get a hook from a rubber ring, on one side of which a bolt will protrude;
    • on this protruding bolt it is necessary to tighten one meter of fishing line, and tie it in a loop;
    • this whole structure is ready to be put on a bell and tightened with a nut. The second nut will additionally fix the first.

    There is no topic video for this article.

    By doing these simple manipulations, you can easily get bell with rubber hook. All this design is hung on the end of the rod. As soon as the fish is hooked, the bell will notify its owner. Many fishermen claim that such a bell is much cheaper than a set of store bells, while the sound from it is muffled, which does not scare the fish away from the bait.

    It helps a lot when fishing at night. To do this, you need to take an elastic polymer tube, which is placed on the end of the rod. Any luminous signaling device is inserted into it. In order for the signaling device to emit light, it is broken in several places. If this signaling device is installed at the very end of the rod, it can be tied with ordinary transparent tape. Any bite will be visible for several meters.

    Some experienced fishermen claim that if skip the forest through your fingers, then the sensitivity will be increased several times. But this method is not always convenient. Given that fishing takes place in the open air, it will be impossible to brush off mosquitoes and other insects with wrapped fingers. Fishermen recommend using this method at night, you will be able to instantly hook the caught fish.

    It has a lot of advantages over other types, as it can be used in all weather conditions. It does not respond to strong, gusty winds. With such a signaling device, it is possible to set the rod in any convenient position, even perpendicular to the water.

    To make such a signaling device you will need:

    • steel wire up to 1 mm in diameter;
    • fasteners - a clamp for plastic pipes, a metal rod that will correspond to the diameter of the clamp;
    • to get sound, you can use an ordinary metal rod, tube or Chinese pendants.

    With the help of sandpaper fit the hole in the clamp so that the metal rod fits snugly against its walls. 18-20 centimeters of steel wire must be bent into an arc. One of the ends of this arc (30-50 mm) is bent at an angle of 90 degrees and inserted into the hole of the metal rod.

    Then cold welding is applied and the bent end of the wire and the metal rod are smeared. As an additional fixation, a regular sewing thread is used. If you want to give your structure an aesthetic appearance, then you can paint the welding area with paint, or with ordinary nail polish.

    For its manufacture it is necessary take aluminum foil and roll it into a tube. Then, this tube is threaded onto the main line between the reel and the first ring. In this place, sagging fishing line should form. The signaling device works according to this principle: as soon as a bite occurs, the fishing line in this place begins to stretch. And the foil also helps and gives a signal to the fisherman. As soon as the fishing line begins to move along it, clear rustling sounds are heard. Such signaling devices have the only drawback - they cannot be used in strong winds due to the lightness of the material itself.

    They are very comfortable and deserve more attention from fishermen. If mechanical alarms are aimed at specific fisherman alert and his direct presence near the fishing rod, then electronic - allow you to move a short distance or just be distracted. The means of warning for electronic signaling devices can be: light bulbs or sound devices. Any bite will be instantly noticed thanks to the indicator.

    Almost all mechanisms have a common principle of design and operation.

    The fishing line is threaded into a small hole in the signaling device and connected to the slot of the reel. As soon as the coil begins to move, a signal is triggered.

    In the literature, several options for making an electronic signaling device with your own hands have been proposed. In order to start making it, you need stock up on the following:

    • for the manufacture of the case, you need to take an ordinary plastic bottle;
    • mechanical toggle switch for turning the device on and off. It will be fixed on the body;
    • as a light signaling device, it is better to use an LED light bulb or a regular one;
    • telephone capsule;
    • batteries for power supply;
    • to stiffen the structure, it is necessary to use a corner;
    • a small piece of string. It will be used to connect the spring plate and the outer ring;
    • to attach the free ends of the fishing line and the body from the outside, a clothespin will be used;
    • magnet for attaching to a metal plate. It provides the movement of the springy plate from the reed switch.

    The circuit for an electrical signaling device consists of two parallel circuits that are connected to a toggle switch. The first circuit uses resistors for 0,- 0.68 kOhm, transistors MP - 26B, transistor MP - 37B. An electrical jumper is used as a connection. The second circuit uses a signal light. The TK-67 telephone capsule is installed to connect the two circuits to each other. It connects the toggle switch and the second output to the electrical jumper between the transistor.

    The second output of the toggle switch is connected through a reed switch and a power supply unit with two circuits of an electronic signaling device. A ready-made home-made signaling device must be fixed to any rod. A fishing line is attached to the main clothespin. As soon as the fish bite, the fishing line is pulled and brings the reed switch closer to the magnet, the circuit closes and the alarm goes off: the light turns on or the sound goes off.

    Making a homemade signaling device with your own hands, you will find many positive aspects. Firstly, you do not need to spend big money on store counterparts. Secondly, very often it is home-made devices that are of higher quality and more reliable than store-bought ones. For the manufacture of electronic bite signaling devices with their own hands, experts recommend using aluminum and steel wire, which will allow the signaling device to serve for a long time, but components made of high-quality material are not always used in store devices.

    Prominent examples are plastic alarms. They serve a short period of time and often break at the most necessary moment.

    Do-it-yourself bite signaling devices are easy to create. They hook the fish well and are not an obstacle to bringing it out. Having made a do-it-yourself bite signaling device, you can always be sure of perfect fishing and a pleasant stay.

    3 ways to make a do-it-yourself bite alarm

    The result of fishing largely depends on the skill and knowledge of the fisherman, but sometimes the tackle, not the person, can play a decisive role. For example, when you need to fix a bite, the sensitivity of the signaling device is much more important than the skill of the angler.

    All bite alarms work on a similar principle.: when the fish in any way interacts with the bait, the signaling device fixes the tension of the fishing line and informs the angler about this with a mechanical, sound or light signal.
    There are mechanical and electrical bite alarms.

    There are several types of signaling devices with a mechanical device.:

    1. Sensitive rod nods. The principle of operation is very simple - when biting, the fishing line is stretched and the nod is bent.
    2. Monkey- a weight that is attached to the fishing line between the input ring of the rod and the reel. Under the weight of the load, a sag is formed in the area of \u200b\u200bthe fishing line. When the fish bites, the sag decreases and the weight moves.
    3. swinger. A small plastic head with a line clip. The swinger is attached to the lever with a weight. The lever, in turn, is connected to the bracket through a hinge, which is attached to the rod stand.

    For obvious reasons, it is easiest to make mechanical bite alarms with your own hands.

    Modern anglers are increasingly using electrical signaling devices. Most of them work as follows: the fishing line is passed through a special through hole in the signaling device. There is a wheel in this hole. When the line is taut, the wheel turns and activates the alarm, which in turn informs the angler with sound, light or vibration.

    There are certain requirements for a good signaling device, depending on the method of mounting the sinker.

    Blind mounting- prevails in carp fishing when long-distance casts are needed. Here you need heavy mechanical signaling devices that will not only fix bites, but also keep the fishing line in optimal tension.

    sliding mounting- needed for fishing with a careful biting. In this case, the fish should not feel the resistance of the tackle, not only at the moment of biting, but also when it is removed with the bait in its mouth. The requirements for the signaling device for sliding mounting are appropriate - it must be as light and sensitive as possible.

    Until recently, the most common signaling device among domestic fishermen was the "monkey". It is easy to guess the reasons for its popularity - it is simple and cheap to manufacture.

    To make a "monkey" with your own hands you will need: pliers, drill, wire cutters, drills, knitting needle, wire, cambric, ball (in our case, the body for a toy from Kinder Surprise), two large beads, clothespins from a baguette.

    Sequencing:

      Drill a hole in a clothespin. The diameter of the hole should be such that the spoke passes freely, but does not dangle.

    Insert the needle into the hole and bend.

    Wrap steel wire around the needle. As tight as possible. Make about 12 turns. After this, remove the wound wire without unwinding.

    Put the cambric on the knitting needle. Put a plastic ball on the cambric, in which a through hole should be made.

    Again take the wire with 12 turns. Shorten its ends so that their length is 2 cm longer than the height of the ball. Ignite each end of the wire with a lighter and string a bead on it.

    Put the resulting design on the free end of the knitting needle. Bend the end of the needle. Ready.

    Slightly changed version of a simple mechanical bite alarm featured in our video.

    The simplest bite signaling device is completely ineffective in strong winds, as it has a large windage. A good substitute for it is a side bite alarm, which practically does not react to the wind and can also be made at home with your own hands.

    For manufacturing you will need: steel wire with a diameter of 1 mm and a length of 20 cm, PVC pipe clamp and metal rod, instant glue, sewing thread. Choose the diameter of the rod for the hole in the clamp. In this case, a tube from Chinese melodic pendants was used.

    Sequencing:

      With sandpaper, adjust the end of the rod so that it fits tightly into the hole in the clamp.

    bend steel wire. One of the ends (0.5 cm) is bent at an angle of 90 degrees to the main part of the wire and inserted into the hole on the metal rod.

    Coat the bent end of the wire with instant glue and rod. Wrap the sewing thread tightly around the glue. Make sure that the wire fits snugly on the rod. Apply a second layer of glue.

    Decorate with red or any other varnish.

    This is what the alarm looks like in action.

    More alternative way to make a side bite alarm shown in this video.

    A bite indicator light will come in handy more than ever on night fishing. It's not that hard to make it.

    Need: glue, baby crocodile clips, LEDs, batteries (3 V), lighter, heat shrink, colored straws for cocktails.

    Sequencing:

      Cut a piece of straw 3 to 4 cm long.

    With a glue gun fill the cut piece of straw with hot glue.

    Insert an LED into the straw. The legs of the light bulb should stick out about 0.5 cm. Set the straw with the LED aside. Wait for some to dry.

    Insert the battery into the heat shrink. It is worth noting here that heat shrink tubing is selected according to the size of the battery.

    Cut off excess tube. You only need 2 cm.

    Insert the battery deeper into the tube so that it is in the middle. Heat up the heat shrink with a lighter to get the blank as in the picture.

    Connect straw and heat shrink so that the LED contacts are in contact with the battery contacts.

    There is no topic video for this article.

  • Heat the shrink once more until it holds the straw tightly.
  • Very important so that all contacts in the heat shrink are in sealed conditions. Therefore, if the heat shrink tubing does not shrink, you need to increase the size of the straw with glue.

    On the free end of the heat shrink tubing glue a small piece of straw, and a hairpin to it.

    Video assembly instruction bite indicator light at home.

    To make a do-it-yourself bite sounder, you will need at least minimal knowledge in the field of electronics. If you have them, then you can familiarize yourself with the schemes on the network and try to do something.

    On the Internet, we found a similar buzzer assembly video bites with your own hands, you can try to repeat.

    Or use a ready-made signaling device, which can be bought at a fishing store.

    This article will present the types of bite signaling devices, their brief description, advantages and disadvantages, as well as do-it-yourself manufacturing options.

    Distinguish:

    At the heart of the work is the observation of the course of biting. This type of tackle makes it more obvious, saves time and bait.

    These include:

    A nod is an inexpensive device, attached to the tip of the feeder, it happens:

    Production order:

    1. You will need a copper wire on which the sliding element will be located and rotated, and its upper part will prevent rotation around its axis of the nod.
    2. To ensure that the glide is perfect and fits the size of the wire, you need to cut off a piece of the ear stick and fix it.
    3. The very working part of the nod can be taken from old non-working metal nods.
    4. Balance weight - lead or tin, moves along a nod, is fixed with cambric and is selected according to the weight of the equipment.

    Fishing tackle that does not require special financial costs. For its manufacture, it is necessary to take into account the depth of the reservoir, the casting distance, the speed of the current. The choice of material and the method of processing the float will depend on this.

    When buying or making a float, consider the following:

    • A heavy float weighing 3-10 grams is designed to cast a fishing rod at least 50 m, it is designed for larger fish: pretty catfish or carp.
    • A float of average gravity weighing 0.8-2.5 grams will be needed on reservoirs with a current. This tackle is perfect for large carp or silver carp.
    • A light float weighing up to 0.8 grams is used for fishing near the shore. Very sensitive and works even on an inconspicuous bite. It is used for catching roach, rudd, sebel, crucian.

    Consider options for making light floats at home, they will cost a penny, and you can make them in a matter of minutes.

    For manufacturing you will need:

    • Styrofoam;
    • wine cork;
    • goose or duck feather;
    • cane.

    Additional materials include: colored acrylic paints, waterproof glue, wire, toothpicks of different lengths.

    Of the tools you will need: a drill, sandpaper, a sharp knife, a drill (diameter 2 mm).

    Varieties:

    Cheap and easy. It works thanks to the oscillation of the fishing line. Done in 5 minutes.

    How to make at home:

    Aluminum foil is taken as a material and rolled into a tube. It is put on the main fishing line. It is important to pass the line between the first ring on the feeder and the reel to form a slack in the line.

    The first ring of the feeder should be thicker than the tube itself. When biting, the sag of the fishing line will decrease. The foil plays well in the sun and rustles, but due to its lightness in the wind it is useless.

    Great tackle for night fishing. Due to the fluorescent glow, it is clearly visible in the dark. Used with spinning rods, fishing rods, and other gear.

    How to do it yourself? Several options are worth considering:

    • We take white or yellow foil, cut into strips about 5 mm wide. We apply the finished strips with waterproof glue to the float antenna. To check in action, it is worth bringing a little light, you can take a flashlight.
    • Purchase Specialty Phosphorus Infused Paint, capable of glowing in the dark and applied to the float.
    • For manufacturing you need to take: clip stationery , clothespin, fishing firefly.

    A firefly is attached to the clamp and put on the top of the feeder . It is recommended to put on before each cast, so as not to break the rods.

    A big plus of all types of visual signaling devices is more than reasonable price and ease of use. Well, the downside is that, under difficult weather conditions (wind, rain, strong current), their effectiveness is almost zero.

    Fireflies - thanks to the fluorescent glow, they are clearly visible in the dark

    The simplest are the bell or rattle. The bell is often used at long distances, on a spinning rod.

    A set of fasteners in which, for example, a bell is attached to the top of the feeder. If it starts to peck, the top of the feeder, on which the signaling device is fixed, begins to oscillate and our device produces a sound.

    The advantages include low cost, sensitivity to the slightest bites, the ability to use over long distances.

    Would need:

    • Flat spring about 20 cm long, can be taken from an old alarm clock, clock. It should be smooth, without errors.
    • Aluminum wire 20 cm long.
    • Plastic strip 20 cm long.
    • Dye.

    On the sides of our spring we make holes with different diameters. We fasten the plastic strip on one side with a wire so that it is securely held at the access ring. On the other hand, we make a hook for which the spring is held.

    Bite buzzer

    Or, as experts say, a lateral quiver-type. At the heart of the device, fastening to the form of the feeder and a springy part made of plastic or metal. It is placed between the coil and the first ring of the feeder.

    After casting, the fishing line is threaded into the hook, which is located at the opposite end from the feeder. The length of the running gear is about 10-15 cm. We put the side quiver-type to the feeder blank at an angle of 90 degrees. When the bite starts, the device will become almost parallel to the feeder.

    Important benefits are:

    • works in all weather conditions;
    • suitable for use on the winding banks of reservoirs, where there are many cliffs and snags.

    Since the bulk of quiver types are made of fiberglass, big minus is its excessive softness, that in the case of a strong current, its sensitivity is lost. Also, this material, even under small loads, can begin to exfoliate.

    To make a quiver type at home, you will need:

    • 15-20 cm of metal springy wire;
    • metal tube with a diameter of 2 mm and a length of 5 cm.

    At a distance of 15 cm from the coil, we fix the tube on the feeder form. Next, we make a Z-shaped hook at one end of the wire, bend the other at a right angle for fastening in the tube. We put the finished product on the feeder and throw it. We insert the fishing line into the hook of the quivertip. For better visibility, we attach a bright colored ball to the end of the hook.

    Side bite alarm for feeder How to increase the catch of fish?

    For 7 years of active passion for fishing, I have found dozens of ways to improve the bite. Here are the most effective ones:

    1. Biting activator. This pheromone additive lures fish the most in cold and warm water. Discussion of the bite activator "Hungry Fish".
    2. Raise gear sensitivity. Read the appropriate manuals for the particular type of tackle.
    3. Lures based pheromones.

    This modern miracle of technology is equipped with light or sound devices, with the help of which the bite is instantly visible.

    1. It is installed on the shore of the reservoir and attached to the fishing rod.
    2. The fishing line must be passed through a special roller, a hole on the signaling device, and connected to the slot of the reel.
    3. When the bite starts, the built-in gear will move on the roller and the signal will work.

    The advantages of electronic signaling devices include:

    • Hypersensitivity. You can clearly see the time and intensity of the bite.
    • Thanks to sound and light indicators, there is no need to be constantly near the fishing rod.
    • Works in all weather conditions.
    • Long distance is not a barrier.

    Experienced fishermen call the only drawback of this device the inconvenience when fishing in "stagnant" water. If the fish does not go “to the shore” when biting, then you can simply not notice it.

    Electronic bite alarm

    To make it cheaper and sensibly, you need to take the most common keychain with sound as the basis. Key fob contacts, preferably in the form of two plates, remove to the outside.

    We close the keychain button and attach it to the rod stand. We take a piece of plastic (strip) 2 mm thick and attach it to the fishing rod between the first ring and the reel and bring it out between the contacts. As soon as it starts to peck, the fishing line will pull out the plastic, a circuit will occur and music will play.

    • When buying an electronic signaling device, pay attention to what the components are made of. Do not chase the price, plastic signaling devices are inexpensive, but they will not last long either.
    • When transporting gear, do not forget to pack the signaling device in a special case. to avoid cracks and breakage.
    • To make the bell more sensitive, the spring to which it is attached must be stretched as much as possible.
    • Do not buy signaling devices with a metal keel. Such a float does not reflect bites well and determines the depth.
    • If in sunny weather the fish does not want to peck, then you need to make the signaling device darker and attract fish to the newly baited place.
