Invites all ringers to the bell ringing festival, which will be held as part of the celebration of the patronal feast. On Saturday, July 21, after the morning festive service, it is planned to hold the second festival of bell ringing.

In the first part of the festival the following typical bells will sound:

  • Blagovest - ringing before the beginning of the service, characterized by measured blows to one of the big bells-evangelists;
  • Chime - a solemn ringing using all, including small bells.
  • Funeral busting - ringing with alternate blows to the bells from small to large with a subsequent blow "in full."
  • Water chime - chime for the consecration of the Great Epiphany Water, seven beats to each bell in turn from large to small.
  • Great Lent - otherwise, ringing “in two” - ringing on weekdays of Lent and Passion Week: 40 unhurried blows to two (usually the largest) bells.
  • Wedding (booster) - solemn ringing to complete the wedding. It is characterized by the gradual inclusion of increasingly heavy bells and, sometimes, the acceleration of the rhythm.

The second part of the festival will contain traditional ringing from all gathered ringers from different parishes of Russia. At the festival, every bell ringer can please guests with his art of bell ringing and exchange experience with other bell ringers!

In recent years, work is underway to revive the art of bell ringing, lost in the Soviet period. New bell casting factories are opening, casting methods are being reconstructed. Active actions are being taken to recreate and preserve historical traditional ringing, educational activities are being conducted. Ringing schools are opening, events related to bell ringing are being organized.

In the Old Believers, the art of bell ringing developed in a more isolated and complex way. In the tsarist years, the activities of the Old Believers were prohibited, and bell ringing was accordingly prohibited. In the Soviet period, churches were closed everywhere and bells were destroyed and melted down. Currently, in connection with the construction of churches and the registration of new communities, there is a need to revive the art of bell ringing, which is an integral part of Orthodox worship. Bell ringing creates a certain sound atmosphere around the temple, reports on the actions taking place in the temple, carries a peculiar sermon. One of the ways to popularize the art of bell ringing and to improve the general level of mastery of the technique is to conduct cultural events related to bell ringing. Since last year in Siberia in the city of Novokuznetsk passes. Festivals of bells and at the base of the temple in with. B. Nepryakhino. Nepryahinskaya bell tower has a standard selection of 9   bells weighing from 4   before 620   kg

To participate in the festival, everyone is invited ringer of the Old Believer churches from all over Russia and not only. Preferably, no later than   July 20, inform the organizers of their intention to participate in the festival. Telephone for communication on the organization of the bell ringing festival: 8 910 895 68 60 Sergei. The cause of the revival of the art of bell ringing is our common cause - the cause of the development of the Old Believers!

Every year, in July, Kamensk-Uralsky becomes a center of attraction for ringers from all over Russia who come hereto the bell festivalto please the people with their art, to show all the wealth of bell ringing. These days, the best creative groups: orchestras, choirs, folklore ensembles, vocalists, perform at a large concert venue near the church of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky in the city center these days.

Chronicle of the bell festival.

“The first bell festival in Kamensk was held July 15-17, 2005.

But two weeks earlier, on July 4, in the center of the city in the Alexander Nevsky chapel, a new bell rang - a real giant weighing 80 pounds (1320 kg), cast at Nikolay Pyatkov’s factory. For the sake of such an important event, the Archbishop of Yekaterinburg and Verkhotursky Vincent came to Kamensk for the consecration ceremony.

The head of Kamensk Viktor Yakimov and the archbishop were the first to force the new bell to speak loudly. And then the central square and surroundings announced the gospel. The consecration of the bell was dedicated to the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the Church of the Protection of the Mother of God. For the bell ringing festival at the Pyatkov & K factory, the main instigator and initiator of the event, several more bells were made: the portable belfry was placed on July 17 opposite the chapel.

And on July 15, the 25 best bell-ringers of Russia arrived in Kamensk - from Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov, Arkhangelsk, Moscow, Krasnodar, Irkutsk, Tyumen and other cities. ”

Russian Orthodox ringing

“Only ignorant people think that all the bells“ buzz ”the same way. In fact, each ringer has his own technique, his secrets of working on multi-ton musical instruments. In the Russian Orthodox ringing (the presenters explained to the audience), unlike the Catholic, there is no melody, but there is a rhythm and character. And the same bells on the belfry of the chapel, controlled by the hands of different bell ringers, each sing in a special way. Each one has his own voice: the big one makes low sounds, the small ones are filled with trill; sometimes it seems that it’s not heavy bells at all, but bells. ”

“The July holidays of 2006 were extremely diverse. Kamensk saluted for two days, celebrating its 305th anniversary. The final chord in a series of bright events was again the bell ringing festival. On that festive Sunday, Kamenets got a unique opportunity to listen to live music. A true discovery for true lovers of beauty was the "Song of the Orthodox Ringer" performed by Anna Sumarokova. Novgorod and Arkhangelsk, Suzdal and Vladimir Easter and Christmas, solemn and festive bells changed the works of Mussorgsky, Glinka, Tchaikovsky »

“Over the weekend devoted to the City Day and the Day of the Metallurgist, Kamensk managed to light up on several federal television channels. True, the whole country was shown not a carnival procession and not harsh metallurgical factory workers. The third bell festival in 2007, which brought together more than two dozen participants this year and received the status of All-Russian, is the reason Moscow announcers learned how to pronounce Kamensk-Uralsky.

The gala concert on the central square of the city, which, according to tradition, completed the festivities, was honored by the presence of the Archbishop of Yekaterinburg and Verkhotursky Vincent. President of the Russian Bell Art Association, Alexander Yareshko, who has seen many bell festivals throughout the country, has authoritatively declared: such a scale as in Kamensk is not in Russia.

The festival ended symbolically: in the finale of Tchaikovsky’s overture “1812”, performed by the orchestra to the sound of bells, a cannon shot ”.

“And what voices sounded that day under the sky of Kamensk-Uralsky! For the first time, the Russian Singers Choir arrived in Kamensk with a concert - a unique collective, demanded far beyond the borders of Russia. As the “singers” Stepan Kostrov and Andrei Lebedev admitted after the performance, they were singing for the first time in a concert decorated with a bell ringing, and the response of the Kamenets was so cordial that they felt on such a huge concert venue as the main square of the city. The performance of the State Orchestra of Folk Instruments “Stars of the Urals” from Yekaterinburg joined in the program. The illustrious collective literally blew up the audience with a stunning performance of famous works of the classical repertoire. In a word, the gala concert was so generously “strewn” with musical “gems” that we will recall its splendor for a whole year. As much as time will pass before the new - the fifth festival of bell ringing. "

“The first suite for bells sounded at the festival of bell ringers in Kamensk-Uralsky.

Popularly belovedbell  the festival "Kamensk-Uralsky - the bell-city capital" became the property of history, but it stirred the soul of everyone who was at the gala concert and heard the polyphony of the bells of the chapel of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky. Indescribable delight, pacification, joy and tears of tenderness - a gamut of feelings and a sense of rebirth. They were presented to the Kamenets and guests of the city by the participants of the fifth anniversary festival of bell ringers. They arrived in Kamensk-Uralsky from all over Russia - from Moscow and Rostov the Great, Arkhangelsk and Yaroslavl, Tyumen and Megion, Novosibirsk and Primorye, Samara and Yekaterinburg. We arrived to express tribute to bell affairs to master Nikolai Pyatkov with our virtuoso and unique game. ”

Gala concert of the participants of the VIII festival Kamensk-Uralsky - the bell capital became the main holiday event on City Day. Divine music performed by the best ringer of Russia on July 14 was heard live by more than four and a half thousand people.

As soon as the “Holy God” sounded ... a Byzantine chorus (it was performed by Olga Kormukhina and the combined choir of the Orthodox churches of the city), the mercilessly scorching sun disappeared behind the clouds, the air was filled with freshness and coolness.

- God bless us, Vladyka Sergius explained the change in weather. - Bell ringing is a triumph of the spirit, it is a call for asceticism. After all, our city is now not only the bell capital, but also the center of the church region. ”
