The Boeing 777-200ER is a long-haul wide-body aircraft, a modification of the Boeing 777-200 with increased takeoff weight, additional fuel tanks and an increased flight range of up to 14,316 kilometers. This is the optimal aircraft for servicing long-distance intercontinental routes. It is able to take on board from 314 to 440 passengers.

Boeing 777-200ER - is characterized by high manufacturability and efficiency, low noise level, as well as excellent flight speed, equipped with such innovative equipment as "Electronic Flight Bag".

In the process of creating the liner, special attention was paid to the wishes of passengers. So in the Boeing 777, a number of solutions have been introduced to improve passenger comfort. In particular, the cabin is equipped with a video system with screens built into the backs of the seats, and the seats in the business class cabin have reclining ergonomic backs. Luggage racks have also been enlarged and indirect lighting has been applied. The width of the cabin is 5.87 meters - this allows you to fit up to 10 seats in a row. Porthole size - 380×250 mm. Boeing 777-200ER.

The first flight of the Boeing 777-200ER was made in October 1996, and its commercial operation began in February 1997 with British Airways.

Boeing 777-200ER is operated by: Rossiya Airlines, North Wind, Orenburg Airlines, Air China, Air France, Air India, Alitalia, British Airways, KLM, etc. .Total more than 50 airlines.

The Boeing 777-200ER is the best-selling twin-engine passenger jet in the world. Airbus' competitor is the Airbus A330-300.

Location and numbering of seats in the cabin, seating diagram in the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. The best and least comfortable seats on the plane

Cabin layout, best and least comfortable seats on Boeing 777-200ER of Vietnam Airlines

The aircraft fleet of Vietnam Airlines has 10 Boeing 777-200ER aircraft in two-class and three-class configurations, which operate transatlantic flights to Europe, Australia, Northeast Asia and domestic flights. From Moscow you can fly on these planes: to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang.

Below is a diagram of the cabin in the layout for 25 business class seats, 54 comfort class seats and 228 economy class seats.

  • Business class seats occupy from 1 to 4 row. They are quite comfortable: wide seats, increased distance between them. There are toilets in front of the first row, and an on-board kitchen behind the last row. During night flights, going to the toilet, sounds and lights coming from the kitchen can cause some inconvenience.
  • Comfort class occupies from 10 to 15 row. Seats 10 row located behind the utility room, extraneous noise is possible.

    Economy class divided into two salons: the first - from 20 to 32 rows, the second - from 45 to 58.
    20 row- quite comfortable places, if the wall in front separating the classes of service, and the fixed armrests of the outer seats are not embarrassing. There is plenty of legroom in this row.
    In places 24 and 25 rows there is no porthole and on a long flight it can be a little dreary, although at night it doesn’t matter at all.
    All seats 31, 32, 57 and 58 rows (except for the center seat E in 31 and 57 rows) may be inconvenient due to proximity to the toilets - this is the constant movement of passengers, the sounds of a lowered barrel and the hassle of doors. Also, the seat backs don't recline. (except seats F and D 31 and 57 rows). On a long flight, this is extremely inconvenient.
    45 row comfortable and best economy class seats. Since there is an emergency exit in front of this row, the approaches to them are wide, so there is a lot of legroom. Even a tall person here can freely pull them out. They are also comfortable to fly with children. There are toilets nearby.

General for other places:

  • The advantages of places located next to the porthole: in the daytime, you can admire the beauties of the sky, the passengers sitting next to you will not disturb you if they need to get up. Minus: inconvenient to go out during the flight.
  • Seats near the aisle. pros: It is very easy to get up from them, no one interferes. Minus: passing passengers and stewardesses with carts can accidentally hit you.

Aeroflot's Boeing 777-200ER aircraft have a three-class layout: business class, superior comfort class and economy class.

  • In the business class cabin two rows of seats with a 2:3:2 layout. All seats are quite comfortable, so the flight will be comfortable.
  • Superior comfort class from 3rd to 6th row. All places of improved layout, comfortable enough. When traveling as a couple, it is better to choose seats in the 6th row A, C or J, L, so they are two in a row and the neighbors will not interfere. Although the seats of the 6th row have drawbacks - the backs of the seats are not adjustable, so there is a partition separating the utility room behind.
  • Economy class divided into two salons: the first - from 10 to 29 rows, the second - from 30 to 43.
    Seats 10 and 30 rows are located in front of the toilets, so people can walk. But these rows have their advantages: emergency exits are located in front, there is enough space to stretch your legs.
    Seat backs 29 and 43 row a are limited in unfolding or the chairs do not recline at all, since the partitions of the technical blocks are located close to each other.
    seats 40 and 41 rows(A, C, J and L) are doubles, not triples. For this reason, they can be called a good option for young couples. As for the similar armchairs in the last two sections, a drawback can be noted here - the proximity to the bathroom. In addition, the seats of the last row do not fold out - they are almost close to the wall.

The Boeing 777-200ER of KLM has a maximum capacity of 318 passengers.

  • In World Business Class 5 rows with 2:2:2 layout. The average distance between seats is 160 cm. Wide seats that convert into a bed are very comfortable for long flights. armchairs 5 rows may not be very convenient on night flights if you are going to rest, due to the lights on and the additional noise of the utility room located behind.
  • Business Class- this is its own separate state, it consists of six armchairs arranged in one row, the armchairs also fold out into a bed and in this row there is a large amount of space between them. Behind is a partition that delimits classes of service, in front is a utility room.
  • Economy comfort zone consists of four rows ( 10, 11, 12, 14 ) with seating arrangement 3:4:3. The distance between the chairs is 89 centimeters, there are also quite comfortable seats.
  • Economy class has a slightly smaller distance between the seats - only 79 cm. In general, all seats are comfortable. The nuances can be noted at the places located near the aisles: when passing other passengers, they can hurt you, and places G, F, E, D 25 rows, 26 and 44 rows located in front of the toilets, which adds to the inconvenience. Seat backs B, A, K, J 44 rows do not recline, but the plus is that they are arranged in two. 31 row has plenty of legroom.

Flight performance

  • Maximum speed: 965 km/h
  • Cruise speed: 905 km/h
  • Flight range: 8910 km
  • Liner capacity: economy class - 440 passengers, economy / business - 400 passengers, economy / business / first class - 301 passengers
Boeing 777-200ER and all subsequent models are equipped with a dynamic LED lighting system that changes depending on the activity in the cabin. There are such backlight modes: flight, rest, eating, landing, sleep. For example, the brightest light in the cabin while passengers are taking their seats.

When buying a plane ticket, we often worry about what seats we will get. Of course, if you have the opportunity to fly business class, then this makes everything easier. The rest can only hope for the best. We will show you all the best seats in the Boeing 777-200.

Boeing 777-200 designed for long non-stop flights up to 10,000 kilometers. It has an increased fuel capacity and a maximum capacity of about 400 people. This is not a new model. it has been produced since 1995.

  • Wingspan- 60.9 meters.
  • Length- 63.7 meters.
  • Height- 18.3 meters.
  • Cabin width- 5.86 meters.
  • Maximum flight altitude - 13.14 kilometers.

Russian airlines also use these machines. Unfortunately, they are far from new and have flown more than one hundred thousand kilometers. Each airline installs the seats as it sees fit. We will consider the cabin layout using the examples of two airlines: "Nord Wind" and Emirates s.

"Nord Wind"

This airline plans to accommodate 393 passengers in two classes - economy and business. There are only 6 seats in business class. They are in row 1. The distance from the seat to the partition is 127 cm, the chairs have comfortable headrests, footrests and you can take a semi-lying position in them.

The rest of the seats are in economy class. The distance between the backs of the seats in one row is 74 cm, as stated on the airline's website. They are in the cabin in three rows. The central row consists of 4 seats, the side rows of 3. Most passengers find this scheme inconvenient. Great crowding, problems with going to the toilet.

In the saloon there are 3 kitchens in the front and one in the tail. There are several toilet rooms, mainly in the central and tail compartments. In total, the aircraft has 8 exits, 4 on each side.

The most convenient places

There are no good places. You can count them as seats in front of the emergency exit or next to the business class partition. You can sit on them more comfortably and stretch your legs. It will be more convenient for passengers with children. But even here, not everyone will like the proximity to the toilet.

Comfortable for those who travel together will be places in the tail of the cabin, where the fuselage narrows. Three chairs turn into two. But the proximity to the toilet and the constantly standing queue of people who want to get into it does not add romanticism to the flight.

It is convenient to sit next to the aisle so as not to ask anyone if you suddenly want to stretch your legs. But on the other hand, neighbors will “walk” through you, and you will have to break away from your affairs.

The most uncomfortable places

Here are many more. The most uncomfortable places are those that stand with their backs to the emergency exits. Their backs do not recline, you will have to spend the entire flight in the 90-degree position. If the flight is long, then it threatens with problems with the back and legs. Also, the last chairs, standing with their backs to the partitions, do not recline.

Passengers flying in the rest of the seats are approximately in an equivalent position.

Emirates

This airline is considered one of the best in the world. She does not skimp on her passengers. However, the prices for its flights are quite high. Emirates uses two seating arrangements - 2 class and 3 class.

Salon with 2 classes

This includes economy and business class seats. There are 42 comfortable business-class seats in the bow. There is a large distance between them, you can recline the back and raise the stand under your feet. This compartment has its own kitchen and its own toilets. Armchairs stand in three rows. In the extreme there are two chairs, in the central - three. All this allows you to fly in much more pleasant conditions than ordinary passengers. However, a ticket to this part of the cabin costs much more.

The remaining 304 seats are occupied by economy class passengers. They also stand in three rows, but already according to the 3-4-3 pattern. The backs here do not recline, but only come to a position of 45-50 degrees. The distance between the seats allows you to stretch your legs.

The scheme is similar to the salon "Nord Wind" , but in Emirates 50 seats less, and this gives another + 20-25 centimeters between the seats. There are several kitchens here, mostly in the tail. Toilets are located in the center of the cabin.

The most comfortable chairs also located in front of the partitions, there is more legroom and it is possible to put a baby cradle. But some, on the contrary, like to have a chair in front of them. After all, at the time of the decline, it is convenient to hold on to it.

Uncomfortable places near the toilets, standing with their backs to the partitions. Emirates has a small headroom for reclining the back, but not as much as the rest. Also, this airline does not have seats with their backs to the emergency aisles. They are not allowed to be tilted for safety reasons.

Salon with 3 classes

In such an aircraft there are seats in the first, business and economy classes.

There are 12 elite first class seats in the bow. You can’t call them armchairs, these are mini-rooms with a bed. More like SV-compartment trains.

The central and tail sections of the cabin are occupied by 176 economy class seats. They are located in three rows. There are 4 armchairs in the center, 3 each by the windows. Toilets are located in the middle and at the end of this compartment, the kitchen is in the tail. We will not repeat about convenient and inconvenient places, they coincide with the conditions of the previous scheme.

Now it is very easy to choose comfortable seats in the cabin - use the online check-in for the flight.

Pleasant flight!

The Russian airline NordWind ("North Wind") will lease two more Boeing 777 wide-body aircraft. This is a modification of the Boeing 777-300ER. By ordering these aircraft, the carrier has become a new client of the Dubai-based leasing company DAE Capital (a division of Dubai Aerospace Enterprise), according to the owner of the aircraft. The aircraft's previous operator was Taiwanese carrier EVA Airways.

As a representative of the carrier told the site, "in order to implement the strategy of feeder transportation in 200 directions of autumn-winter navigation, NordWind continues to expand its own fleet of wide-body aircraft and announces the preparation for operation of two Boeing 777-300 aircraft." The first aircraft will arrive at the carrier's base airport Sheremetyevo (Moscow) on August 31. In the first week of September, after customs procedures, it will be put into operation on routes from Moscow. The airline will take the second flight within the next week.

Boeing 777-300ER aircraft manufactured in 2005 will receive tail numbers VP-BJL and VP-BJO. They will be the first aircraft in the NordWind fleet with a three-class layout (312 seats in total: 38 in business class, 63 in premium economy class and 211 in economy class).

The former operator of both Boeing 777-300ER NordWind is the Taiwanese airline EVA Airways

The NordWind fleet already has four Boeing 777s of another modification - the Boeing 777-200 (equipped with 393 seats in two classes). With the receipt of two machines, the airline's fleet will have 22 aircraft. In addition to the Boeing 777, we are talking about the wide-body Airbus A330-200, as well as the narrow-body and Boeing 737-800. By the end of 2017, four more aircraft are expected to arrive.

In January-July, NordWind's passenger traffic increased by 85.4% to 1.598 million people. At the same time, the seat occupancy rate decreased by 2.9 percentage points, to 86.9%.

Nordwind Airlines (Nordwind Airlines or "Northern Wind") owns 8 Boeing 767-300 aircraft. However, only three aircraft can be found on the company's flights. The remaining 5 liners are leased to a partner company (Pegas Fly).

The following aircraft fly over North Wind: VQ-BPT, VQ-BMQ and VP-BDI. Aircraft are quite old, they worked for a number of airlines in America and Europe:

  • The VQ-BPT made its first flight in July 1995. Managed to fly for airlines: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Zoom Airlines, ILFC and Flyglobespan.
  • The VQ-BMQ made its first flight in March 1996. Managed to fly for the airlines: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and North American Airlines.
  • The VQ-BPT made its first flight in April 2000. Managed to fly for airlines: Air 2000, GECAS, Aeroflot - Russian Airlines.

On the company's website, you can see two options for the layout of the cabin: for 290 seats and for 300 seats. Both layout options are two-class (business and economy classes). The 290-seat version has 39 rows, while the 300-seat version has 43 rows. The layout of the seats can be viewed at this link.

In our review, we will analyze in detail the scheme for 290 seats.
Row 1 and 2.

The only two rows of business class. There are 12 such places in total. For obvious reasons, these are the best places on the liner. The distance between the seats is 127 cm.

Row 3. Boeing's first economy class row. These are good places to book. The distance to the partition is slightly greater than the distance between the standard rows. Plus, no one will lean back on you. Toilets are located at the opposite end of the cabin, so there is a minimum of movement and fuss. The only thing that can spoil the impression of the flight is the presence of a partition in front of the eyes.

The distance between the rows of seats in the economy class is 74 cm. It turns out a little cramped.

Row 15. It is located in a very passable place, as there are toilets nearby. Not the best places to fly. Row 16. It is also located in a place of high traffic, but the advantage is that the chairs are paired.
Row 17. Bad places. The chairs rest against the wall from the toilet, which means that the backrest is limited in reclining. Also, people are constantly crowding near the chair, waiting in line for the toilet. From the fact that the WC door is constantly opened, there will definitely be smells from the toilet.
Row 18. Quite conflicting places. On the one hand, there is no front row (due to the emergency exit), so there is plenty of legroom. On the other hand, there are toilets ahead, which is not good.
Row 19. The distance to the front row is slightly more than the standard, which means that there is where to stretch your legs. The only thing is that the row is quite noisy, due to the proximity of the toilets.
Row 38. Very similar to row 16. Located close to toilets. There is always a lot of movement here, so the flight will not be calm.
Row 39. One of the worst seats in the cabin. They have all the shortcomings of the 17th row. In addition to this, it is always colder in the tail of the aircraft, and if the air conditioner does not work well, it is also stuffy. Not recommended for bookings for people in poor health.

The Boeing 777 is a family of large, twin-engine passenger aircraft. Models of this series can accommodate several hundred passengers - from 301 to 550 people. In addition, these aircraft are capable of flying vast distances. The record range is 21 thousand kilometers. The airliners of this line are equipped with the most powerful engines used in passenger aviation.

Aircraft of this series became a legend before they even appeared. Project 777 aircraft are perhaps the most in demand among operators today.

History of creation

In the 1970s, the ever-increasing popularity of passenger air travel meant that existing aircraft could no longer meet the increased demand. To update the lineup of liners, Boeing began to develop new models - the twin-engine 757 and 767, as well as the triple-engine 777.

New liners would compete with the products of Airbus, McDonnell Douglas and Lockheed. However, in the future, the 777 project had to be abandoned due to limited resources and low demand.

The situation changed in the 1980s, when wide-body aircraft became in demand.

At first it was supposed to be modernized, but the submitted project did not satisfy the airline.

The carriers needed an aircraft similar in configuration to the Boeing 747, but designed to fly over relatively short distances. The use of three motors was already redundant, and the new car received two engines.

For the project of the revived Boeing 777, the company used an unconventional approach. The development of the aircraft was carried out with constant cooperation with several major airlines. They conducted surveys among passengers, and then combined their results with their requirements for a new liner. Thanks to this approach, it was possible to create an aircraft that is better than others suitable for end users.

The development of the Boeing 777 began in 1990. After 5 years, the first copy appeared on commercial airlines.

Production

For the manufacture of the aircraft, Boeing chose a plant in the city of Everett. The production area had to be increased by almost 2 times. Assembly lines were added that could rotate the fuselage 180 degrees.

Lineup Boeing 777-200

The first flight of the Boeing 777 base model 200 was made in June 1994. And less than a year later, United Airlines received the first airliner for commercial operation.

After the success of the first model, the company began to develop a liner designed for flights between continents across the Atlantic Ocean.

This modification of Boeing received the designation 777-200ER. It proved to be very popular and became the best-selling aircraft model.

The Boeing 777, model 200LR, has the longest range of any existing commercial airliner. It is capable of non-stop flights between most airports in the world. The plane of this particular modification made a record flight with a length of more than half the length of the equator and a duration of about a day.

Lineup Boeing 777-300

Models with the number 300 in the name are versions of aircraft with an extended fuselage. The modification of the Boeing 777-300 was intended to replace the old Boeing 747. These models have comparable payload and flight range, but the 777 is 30% more fuel efficient and 40% cheaper to operate.

An improved model of the Boeing 777-300 aircraft received the designation 777-300ER.

This is the largest and heaviest airliner of the Boeing 777 family. The flight range has been increased by a third. To achieve such characteristics in this modification, many structural elements have been improved and additional fuel tanks have been added.

The Boeing 777, originally designed to carry passengers, also has a cargo modification, called the Boeing 777 Freighter. This aircraft takes on board more than a hundred tons of cargo and flies over a distance of more than 9,000 kilometers.

prospects

Since 2013, Boeing has been developing the promising Boeing 777X series. The company plans to begin production of these aircraft by 2020.

This liner will incorporate all available engine and design upgrades to make it the most fuel efficient in the world.

Design

The speed and range of an aircraft is determined by how much it weighs. Boeing, starting with the first model 777-200, has become much wider than before, using high technologies:

  • composite materials in the fuselage structure;
  • Fly-by-Wire digital control system;
  • avionics with replaceable software;
  • LCD screens in the cockpit;
  • on-board information network on optical fiber.

Thanks to such innovations, it was possible to reduce the weight of the liners and their cost. Takeoff weight of empty Boeing 777 is from 140 to 170 tons.

cockpit

Particular attention in the design of the cockpit for the Boeing 777 was given to comfort. Comfortable seats, quiet background noise, good visibility - already in the base model 200, everything was done so that the pilots would not have distractions.

Flight and diagnostic information is displayed on panels and color displays for better human perception. For the rest of the crew during long flights, special places with chairs and beds are provided.

Interior

The interior design of the Boeing 777 is known for its sleek lines, spacious luggage racks and diffused light. Airlines determine how many seats they need to install.

The number of seats depends on the number of classes and the layout of the seats in the cabin.

From four to ten seats in different classes are installed in a row. There is more space above the middle row thanks to drop-down luggage racks.

Glider

The composite materials used to lighten the airframe structure account for nine percent of the total weight. The profile of the wings is designed for the speed of the Boeing 777, reaching 84% of the speed of sound in cruising flight. Thanks to the wingspan and increased strength, the Boeing 777 can fly at an altitude of up to 13 kilometers.

Engines

The Boeing 777 family, starting with the base model 200, uses the most modern engines. Thanks to them, the speed of the Boeing 777 is approaching the speed of sound.

Their record power provides the aircraft with excellent flight characteristics. The aircraft engines of this line are manufactured by General Electric.

Avionics

Small computers are installed on the liners. Their simple replacement during modernization is structurally provided. The EFIS digital complex includes:

  • LCD displays;
  • a data management system and a library with information about aircraft subsystems;
  • power consumption management system;
  • control system for sealing the cabin and air parameters.

Chassis

On aircraft of the Boeing 777 line, six-wheeled landing gear is installed. This achieves an effective load distribution when driving along the runway. Due to the large size of the tires, it was also necessary to improve the braking system. Each of the six tires in the landing gear can withstand a load of up to 27 tons, which is more than the .

Flight performance compared to competitors

The 1990s saw significant changes in the passenger airliner market. Some companies were taken over by larger ones. Some aircraft manufacturers withdrew from the market due to economic difficulties and declining demand. As a result, only two manufacturers remained - Airbus in Europe and Boeing in the USA.

Russia continues the production of passenger aircraft, but production volumes cannot be compared with the two largest suppliers of liners.

Their planes are present in all niches of passenger transportation. This preserves competition, and carrier companies get the opportunity to choose airliners that have the most suitable technical characteristics.

The performance characteristics of the Boeing 777 compared to competing models from Airbus are presented in the tables.

Exploitation

Boeing 777 was developed taking into account the wishes of carrier companies and passengers. Thanks to this, the liner takes into account most of the details that make up a comfortable flight.

Advantages

An essential advantage of the aircraft of this line is the softness of takeoff and landing. Improved sound insulation significantly reduces engine noise.

Even oversized bags fit in the wide luggage racks. For the entertainment of passengers during long flights, multimedia complexes are built into the backs of the seats.

Flaws

When ordering aircraft, airlines themselves choose the layout of the cabins. Some airlines that want to make more profit install too many seats. The result of this approach is crowding and inconvenience for passengers, especially in economy class.

Flight safety

The Boeing 777 is considered the safest aircraft in the world. It has not had a single confirmed disaster due to equipment failure.

There were emergency landings, fires occurred, but after that most of the liners returned to service.

Four people died in these incidents. During operation since 1995, 6 aircraft of this type were lost. Two events stand apart, in which 537 people died.

In March 2014, a Malaysian Airlines plane disappeared from radar. It was assumed that the Boeing 777-200 fell into the Indian Ocean. During the three years of searching, several fragments of the fuselage were found, but it was not possible to determine the cause of the fall. There are many versions, but none of them has received sufficient evidence.

The second event is a disaster that occurred with a Boeing 777-200ER near Donetsk on July 17, 2014. The flight of the same company - Malaysia Airlines - was shot down while flying over the war zone. As a result of a lengthy investigation, the commission determined that the plane was shot down by a Buk surface-to-air missile. However, it was not established which of the participants in the conflict shot down the Boeing.

Interesting facts and records are associated with the Boeing 777 line of aircraft:

  • When designing the 777-200 - the first model of this family - not a single drawing was made on paper. For the first time, the entire development process was done using only computers.
  • The General Electric GE90-115B engine used in the Boeing 777 models 200LR and 300ER is the largest and most powerful in the world.
  • The longest single-engine flight was made by the Boeing 777-200ER. The duration was 177 minutes.
  • A non-stop flight over a distance of 21,601 km was made by a Boeing 777. The flight from Hong Kong to London took 22 hours and 42 minutes for the 200LR model liner.

Nordwind Airlines

Nordwind Airlines - translated as "North Wind" - is a Russian airline that uses Boeing 777-200ER and 777-300ER aircraft.

It has been present in the passenger air transportation market since 2008. The Nordwind fleet has 21 aircraft, of which five are Boeing 777s.

Boeing 777-200 has a cabin that can accommodate 393 seats. It includes business class and economy class. The seating arrangements on the plane are as follows:

  • business class - layout 2-2-2;
  • economy class - most rows 3-4-3, some rows 2-4-2.

In the economy class, there are several rows that differ from most others in terms of convenience. In rows numbered 5 and 6, there are seats in front of which there are no seats. There will be no problems with the reclining seat of the front neighbor, there is enough room for the knees of even a tall person. There is also relatively plenty of space in front of rows 12, 14, 15, 33 and 34, but there are toilets nearby, which is not conducive to comfort.

The cabin on Boeing 777-300 aircraft is divided into three classes and can accommodate 312 passengers. The seating arrangement is as follows:

  • business class - 1-2-1;
  • comfort class - 2-4-2;
  • economy class - most of the rows are 3-3-3, some of the rows are 2-3-2.

The best seats in comfort class are in row number 20. In economy class, seats in rows 45, 46, 60 and 61 have extra space in front of them, but adjacent toilets reduce convenience.

Nordwind's Boeing 777s are attractive enough for long haul flights due to their safety and comfort levels.
