Checking the readiness of the passport for an adult and for a child

A foreign passport, also called a foreign passport, is an identity document of its owner, necessary for leaving and staying outside the country of permanent residence (in this case, Russia), as well as for entering the territory of one's homeland from a foreign trip.

Checking the international passport of the old and new samples through the State Services

Currently, there are two types of passports in Russia: a biometric (biopassport) of a new generation and an old-style passport. According to Russian legislation No. 114 “On the procedure for entering and leaving the borders of the Russian Federation”, 3 weeks are figuratively allotted for issuing international passports, and 1-1.5 months for a new one. However, there may be various delays, so you may want to know the status of the document.

Readiness tracking is exactly the same - through the FMS website, which is now called GUVM MIA (Main Department for Migration Issues):

Two windows will appear - to check the readiness of the new and old passports.

  • To check an old passport enter the region, date of birth and the number of the document that you submitted to the migration service. This may be the number of the main passport or the number of another document (for example, a military ID).
  • New biopass checked by the series and number of the Russian passport.
Such a check is possible in case of registration and subsequent application on the website of the State Services. If you have not done so yet, you can register on the site by going to the "Personal Account" and filling in all the necessary data. So, you can follow the stages of registration and readiness of the document without leaving your home.

Information will be sent to your e-mail or phone in the form of SMS (depending on your choice specified during registration).

How to check if a passport is ready by last name

There are ways that involve checking readiness using the last name:
  • Personally appearing at the reception at the migration service . This method is the surest, however, only if a sufficient amount of time has passed, which is necessary for manufacturing. As a rule, at the office of the service, lists with the names of the owners of ready-made passports are posted on the information stand.
  • By calling the phone number indicated in the documents . In the certificate with the list of documents submitted by you, phone numbers are usually indicated by which you can contact. When you call, you should introduce yourself, giving your last name, as well as the registration number that is indicated in the documents. It is impossible to find out only by last name, since there is a high probability of obtaining the data of the namesake.

In some regions, to facilitate the work of the migration service and the convenience of citizens, there is a system for alerting the readiness of a passport using SMS messages. You are warned about connecting to such a service at the time of filing.

Checking the readiness of a child's passport

To check if the child's passport is ready, you can follow the same recommendations that were given above. To check the child's passport, the date of birth of the child is entered.

Although the information for this service is updated daily, people contribute it. As a result, various overlaps may occur. So don't panic if you don't find your child's data. Try to visit the site later, call back on possible numbers or go personally to the migration service.
