For the 13th time, the Main Metal-Christmas Tree of the Country invites all lovers of proper music to celebrate the brightest and most beloved holiday - the New Year. The meeting place has remained unchanged for many years. GLAVCLUB GREEN CONCERT will open its doors again on the evening of January 1, so that everyone can celebrate the new year in the best, most cheerful and noisy company imaginable.
This will be the 13th Metal-Yolka, but don’t let the number 13 scare you. No one is planning any outrages beyond measure, and in general this wonderful number with a mystical connotation has always gone well with metal music, hasn’t it? Nevertheless, it seems to oblige us to approach the brightest New Year's rock festival a little more “brutally”, and therefore it is with undisguised pleasure that we announce that the co-headliner of the evening, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF THE FESTIVAL, will be the “living legend” of domestic metal, the band MASTER!
The team is preparing a special program for Metal-Yolka, in which, in addition to popularly recognized hits, something very unusual will be performed. Something new?.. Something festive?.. What exactly - you will find out only on JANUARY 1st!
The permanent organizer and inventor of this long-term New Year's idea were and remain exclusively positive comrades from the creative team CATHARSIS, preparing special New Year's numbers, inviting a variety of guests and creating the atmosphere of a real holiday.
Having presented a new single in the fall in a “theatrical” atmosphere, on January 1 the band will present it in a more familiar “driving-concert” setting and prepare something new and unusually festive. It is also worth noting that CATHARSIS is not planning any concert activity in the near future and is busy preparing a new album, so the performance on January 1 is a rare chance to see CATHARSIS on stage.
Another participant, Sergei MAVRINA’s group, celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2018. Those who didn’t have time to congratulate the guys on the big event or want to do it again - on January 1st you will have a great chance.
Well, what would a holiday be without beautiful singing ladies? Having updated its lineup in 2018, the Moscow group ANDEM has largely updated its repertoire. At the Metal-Yelka the band will appear in an updated form and with an updated program, which promises to be a real highlight of the evening.
And of course, we will be glad to see the AMALGAMA group - these veterans of the main New Year's metal fest perform such energetic sets, full of covers and positivity, that you need to see it at least once!

The most relevant representatives of domestic metal always become participants in such events. In addition, it is not uncommon for famous foreign guests to participate in such events. These programs are always filled with popular hits, interesting surprises, pleasant new products and unexpected versions of famous songs. Therefore, they have already managed to fall in love with numerous domestic connoisseurs of the genre. Therefore, in 2018, the Metal-Yolka program will again be organized in Moscow on the popular club scene. The famous group “CATHARSIS” plans to become its main participant. This time she is going to present to the public her most famous compositions, which will be performed accompanied by a real symphony orchestra. The musicians will also perform their own versions of famous world hits of the genre. In addition, such popular groups of the same style as “Mavrin” and “Black Obelisk” will become participants in this large-scale project. And lovers of heavy but romantic music will be pleased with the appearance of the ANNODOMINI team on stage. Musicians from the House of the Winds project will also perform here, playing pirate-themed folk music.
In addition, as part of this event, the public will enjoy a lot of entertainment and surprises. In its concept and scope, the program can be considered a full-fledged metal festival. And therefore it will not leave indifferent all connoisseurs of this genre.
How to spend an interesting and fun evening on the first day of the new year? One of the most best options- visit a festival dedicated to metal music, and this is easy to do, because you just need to order tickets in advance for the Main Metal-Yolka concert of the country. The tradition of gathering in the first days of January and organizing an impromptu club festival appeared in the mid-00s on the initiative of the CATHARSIS group, the leader of the domestic heavy metal scene.
Gradually the scale of the event grew, the number of participants increased, and now it is a high-profile event in the world of music. The next concert of the country's Main Metal-Yolka will be the eleventh. Traditionally, the intrigue lies in the list of participants, and this time their composition turned out to be really bright. The band EIHWAZ will perform for you, a brilliant symphonic metal band that is distinguished by beautiful female vocals and melodic heavy music. The group shared the stage with many of the most famous bands, and will present their best compositions to visitors to the upcoming concert. Visitors will also be delighted by the group ANDEM, whose distinctive feature is the participation of two vocalists at once.
The team will celebrate its 10th anniversary at the concert, so it has prepared a really interesting and eventful program. The stars of numerous major festivals, the group GRAN-KURAZH, will also take the stage. Arthur Bierut, known for his participation in “Aria,” will also perform. The traditional participant of the concert and its ideological inspirer is the group CATHARSIS. The performance of the group will be dedicated to the 20th anniversary of creative activity, and therefore will give the audience a lot of surprises.
METAL-YOLKA in the ARCTIC club: did you have time to have a blast?
How are you preparing for the New Year? So we started to get into the New Year's mood at the METAL-YOLKA in the ARCTIC club, which took place on December 28th. And, to be honest, they charged up brilliantly!
So, in order.
The start of the event was announced at 16.00. With a clear conscience, we decided to take our time and not arrive on time, since we were sure that, according to tradition, the concert would start later. However, upon entering the club, we heard powerful guitar parts and realized that, alas, we had missed the beginning of the concert. While we were handing over clothes to the cloakroom, we heard a question among the visitors: “What kind of woman is singing there?” The question surprised me. The voice coming from the concert hall was quite recognizable: Andrei Mashoshin from the Abordazh group. The vocals, of course, are high and clear, but, in my opinion, they do not resemble women at all.
So, we went into the hall, where the group “Abordazh” was already playing with all its might. As it turned out, the concert started almost on time, the delay was only 10 minutes. There were quite a few people in the hall, but what was happening on stage demonstrated the high level of the group: expressive performance combined with incredible energy and feedback from the listeners, in general, it was impossible to get bored, the professionalism of the musicians is obvious (which is understandable, because the group has already 15 years). Melodious, lyrical songs were replaced by invigorating compositions about beer (the audience received it with a bang), pirates and other things. Everyone had a blast: both the listeners in the hall and, of course, the musicians on stage. I was glad that during the breaks between songs the musicians constantly communicated with the audience, set a positive mood and lit up the hall with their energy!
After the band's performance, we followed the band into their dressing room for an interview (which you'll have a chance to read soon). They received us quite friendly and even treated us to tangerines, although they did not always answer our questions seriously; in general, they demonstrated their pirate nature in every possible way. Actually, while we were talking with Abordazh behind the scenes, several more bands managed to perform on stage, which, according to the listeners, were also on the level: BarBie LinGerie (metalcore/nu-metal) and Lyra (power/heavy metal). When we returned to concert hall, there were significantly more guests, in a cheerful mood they either made their way to the stage, where they staged a complete trash talk, or relaxed in the bar. Meanwhile, the stage was completely taken over by the gloomy team DORGMOOTH (Melodic Death Metal). As soon as you glanced at the stage, a strong association with Children of Bodom appeared: a vocalist with a powerful growl, as if he had just arrived from Scandinavia, contributed 100% to this. Aggressive music combined with equally aggressive vocals and melodic keyboard sounds made quite an impression. Well, the guys maintained their style by 5 points. It is impossible not to note the performance of the song “Little Christmas Tree...” Naturally, the group performed it without deviating from their style, and it turned out great! One of the compositions was accompanied by a light show from the Pulsar Light and Fire Theater, which diversified the performance and added brightness and festivity.
In general, we were hooked by the performance, and we were interested in asking the guys a few questions about Melodic Death Metal on the Russian stage (wait for the interview, again). And at this time, Vergeltung and STALWART continued to charge the hall with positive emotions: the number of people grew, especially as the performance of the headliners – Illidiance (or in common parlance “Lollipops”) was approaching.
The evening was drawing to a close. We froze in anticipation of the headliner, a group from Taganrog - ILLIDIANCE, but we had already managed to communicate with the guys (we had a very interesting interview, it will be coming soon, stay on our portal!) To be honest, knowing about the high level of the group and their popularity in Russia and Europe, it was a little were worried and wary of PAPHOS. Well, he wasn’t there at all! The guys (Artem and Dima) are very sociable, friendly and pleasant, communication with them was one of the most positive impressions from the concert!
The band plays Cyber Metal. It is fair to consider ILLIDIANCE the leader of this trend on the Russian stage, because I have not yet met anyone equal in sound quality and competent presentation of material. The long-awaited guests finally took the stage, and the hall exploded with applause. Everyone has been waiting for the ILLIDIANCE performance for a very long time and now it’s here! The spectacle was enchanting! However, fans of the group have long understood that it cannot be any other way with this team. Gift under New Year The guys turned out great. A powerful charge of energy with rays of charisma tore and blew away the roof of the “Arctic”. Brothers Artem (Syrex) and Dmitry (Xyrohn) Shkurin - the leaders of the group - bring everything to perfection, and the perfectionism of the new tracks of the "DEFORMITY" EP is proof of this. The gifts from ILLIDIANCE did not end there; the song Fading Away was performed especially for the girls of St. Petersburg, and dance support consisting of two beautiful “ladies in leather” performed for the boys of St. Petersburg. The combination of harsh sound and plastic movements of the female body always captivates and attracts the male gaze. The performance lasted about half an hour, which is undoubtedly not enough for a group of this size.
The impact is complete, the energy is the most powerful, the intensity is the best! Everyone was having a blast: dancing, jumping, screaming, asking for more (including us)! But then... it's time to close the club! The program had to be cut down to the high indignation of the public, and even the musicians themselves, who were just getting a taste for it! Shouts of discontent and even despair swept through the hall. But the musicians assured that they would soon come to us again - and more than once. In general, the guests had no choice but to dejectedly wander to the wardrobe, or to the bar, whoever was up to it.
Well, we caught our breath a little and also went to the exit. If we evaluate the evening from our point of view, it passed with 5 points! We had a great time and chatted with the musicians, who were very nice and interesting people, completely devoid of pathos, charged with energy and were 100% prepared for the New Year! If we evaluate the concert from the listener’s point of view, the sound, unfortunately, is not 5 points, but everyone in Arktika has long come to terms with this. Well, from the party-goer’s point of view, there were wonderful groups with whom everyone could communicate, and the listeners were “in the know,” in general, everyone had a great time that evening!
