Track Characteristics
   For professionals:
there are only two areas that deserve attention - black slopes leading from the Bellcott Glacier and descents from Bioli, a good route from Gran Rochette to Champagne, but due to the fact that the southern slope can bring snow. Those who wish can test themselves on the virgin lands.
For intermediate level: La Plagne is ideal for mid-level skiers, with many blue and red slopes. The tracks in Champagne will be interesting for advanced skiers, their name speaks for itself: “Kamikaze” and “Harakiri”. Magnificent long red track Mont de la Guerre; there are simple tracks in the main valley, long, long descents from Rosh de Mio are good, however, the second part of one of them is classified as black tracks. But basically in all sectors excellent red tracks.
For beginners:  Of course, La Plagne will be interesting for beginners. All slopes and lifts are located near the housing. You may notice when you get acquainted with the map that there are not enough green tracks, but the blue tracks are quite simple and easy to learn.

Ski resort La Plagne (La Plagne)  located in the Haute Tarentaise Valley, almost in the center of the French Alps. It can be called a resort of world importance, since it was here in 1992 that the stages of the Winter Olympics were held.

One of the attractions of La Plagne is the bobsleigh track, the only one in France.

The resort was created in 1961, and since 2003 it, together with its neighbors, forms the second largest ski region in the world after the famous Three Valleys.

Brief description of the resort

La Plagne unites 12 villages, each of them can offer you beautiful hotels, discos, restaurants and bars. Plagne Center - the first of the villages, built back in the 60s. Most of the shops and entertainment await you here. Belle Plagne is notable for the convenient location of the ski area. Other excellent locations include Plagne 1800, Plagne Bellecote, Plagne Village, Aime la Plagne and Plagne Soleil. These seven villages are interconnected by roads, pistes and lifts. The remaining five villages are located below, they are well suited for families with children, since next to them there are excellent slopes for training small skiers. This is Champagny - an old village located near Courchevel; Montchavin - here you can ski directly to the door of the hotel and the more modern Les Coches, Longefoy and Plagne Montalbert. The main ski area from these villages can be reached with the help of lifts.

La Plagne stands out for its environmental friendliness. The French Alps can be called a miracle of nature, respectively, they must be preserved in its present form. Therefore, environmental experts carefully monitor the construction of new facilities. Car traffic in the resort is prohibited, the car will have to be left in a special parking lot.

There is practically no problem with the amount of snow in La Plagne, since the tracks mostly run along the northern slopes at an altitude of more than 2000 meters. Well, if after all the snow is not enough, the snow cannons begin to work.

The resort’s tracks cover an area of \u200b\u200b10,000 hectares, more than any other resort in the world. La Plagne features an extensive network of lifts and wide direct slopes. It is ideal for athletes with average experience, most of the tracks are designed specifically for them. There are also many suitable tracks for children, as well as special lifts (and free of charge) and experienced instructors.

Location

La Plagne can be reached from the airports of Lyon (196 km.), Geneva (150 km.), As well as Chambery (160 km.).

Description of tracks

The resort's tracks are suitable for athletes with almost any experience. There are 142 tracks in total. For beginners, green (11) and most of the blue (70) will be interesting. For skiers with average experience, 34 red ones are intended (I would especially like to note the longest ski resort, which starts at the top of Roche-de-Mio and ends in Montchavin), and for professionals - 16 black and 11 super-complex (gray) ones. Perhaps the most difficult descent in La Plagne is Allias, its length is 3000 meters.

For off-piste lovers there are also suitable places, mainly located on the north side of the Bellcote glacier.

Other winter activities

Bobsleigh Track Two Bordercross snowboard parks Cross-country skiing tracks: difficult - 20 km., Medium - 40 km., Light - 30 km. Paragliding Motorized hang gliding Sledding and dog sledding Descent into the ice cave Snowshoeing Skating Rink Hang gliding

In the evening you can relax in the sauna or jacuzzi, swim in the pool, play tennis or bowling, sunbathe in the solarium - all this is offered by the resort's sports centers.

In the villages there are many bars (some of them work all night) and more than a hundred restaurants with traditional French or exotic cuisine (for example, Mexican or Chinese). In the villages of Plagne Center, Aime la Plagne, Belle Plagne and Plagne Bellecote there are discos. Shops are located directly in the hotels. For movie buffs, two cinemas are open.

Accommodation

The resort hotels are mainly 3-4 stars, the price range for the night from 25 (La Licorne) to 198 (Terra Nova) euros. Almost all hotels are located directly on the slopes. For 230-840 euros per week, you can rent an apartment for 4-6 people, as well as rent a chalet or apartment.

Skiing in La Plana

The vast majority of tracks in La Plana are blue (65%) and red. There are also light green tracks - 10%, and black tracks for professionals - 17%. You can go around the villages without taking off your skis, as they are all connected by pistes and free buses. In addition, there are 90 km of ski slopes. The terrain of La Plagne tracks is best suited for families with children and those who like blue and green (in the French classification, there are some very simple ones). Actually, they are the most at the resort. In general, the Paradiski ski area, combining the La Plana and Les Arcs pistes, is 425 km of pistes. Paradisk is one of the largest ski regions in France, and there are tracks for every taste. Those who prefer more difficult skiing and freeride go on various routes from the Belkot glacier. From it you can go down to the side of Les Arcs and the prominent from afar massive Vanoise Express two-story cabin. In particular, the northern slopes of Belkot, a local glacier, are of particular interest. Local guides, passing a glass of another sherry (beloved Savoyard tincture of the wormwood variety, helping from all ailments, frost, bad mood and other hardships) secretly tell about the incredible beauty of the wild slopes over Champagne-en-Vanoise. Some of these routes pass near the national park (skiing is prohibited).

Going towards Champagne, try to accurately calculate the time for the return trip - some of the cable cars in this part of the region cannot be called “authentic”, and traveling on them takes a lot of time. But in this part of La Plana, perhaps, the most interesting tracks with a good elevation are located, and, as a rule, they also turn out to be the least busy. Actually, this is immediately noticeable - part of the slope is regularly occupied by the local Ski Club, and it’s a pleasure to watch the competitions of children and adolescents from the chair. Another ski stadium, where the slalom or giant slalom track is most often located, is located in the very center of La Plana, under an armchair. On Saturdays, quite professional competitions are held there - the local ski school is considered one of the strongest in France. Ski Club La Plani also raised a real star: two-time vice world champion Julien Lizerou smiles from advertising posters everywhere, and, when the schedule of the World Cup and training allows, he will be happy to return to La Plan.

La Plagne Things to Do
