What do you have the right to do on the train: where to smoke, when to hand in linen, etc. Electric train tickets How many minutes do a long-distance train serve

How to buy a train ticket with the greatest savings? Minimum price for train tickets: know the right moment. In this article, we will share classified information about how you can save on buying train tickets.

How to buy train tickets cheaper. rules

From December 2016, train tickets for all trains are sold 60 days prior to departure. As a rule, the principle works: the sooner, the cheaper. Almost all Russian Railways trains are subject to dynamic pricing - the price of a ticket changes depending on the season, day of the week and traffic volumes. That is, you can pay less by buying a ticket not on Friday, a weekend or Monday morning, but on Thursday or Wednesday. Therefore, in order to save money, it makes sense to move the trip for one day.

Seasonal coefficients are introduced on long-distance trains for reserved seats and passenger cars of non-high-speed trains. They travel, as a rule, cheaper in the spring: in March - April and from October to mid-December. On a holiday on May 9, the price of tickets decreases by 2 times, and on other holidays and in the summer, tickets go up by 10–20 percent.

There are situations that when buying tickets for the entire route discounts apply that do not work part of the way, and then it is more profitable to buy a “full” ticket for the entire route, and go out or board at the point that you need. The same goes for the opposite direction. According to the rules of Russian Railways, it is possible to board Russian trains at any station after the departure station indicated on the ticket.

The price of train tickets is affected by discounts and promotions for a particular type of car. There are situations when a ticket in a compartment is cheaper than a reserved seat, and a CB is cheaper than a compartment. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze prices in higher classes. Very often, tickets to the top seats in the compartment from the start of sales and up to 11 days before departure can be bought cheaper by 20 percent, and on Tuesdays RZD sells tickets and discounts reach 35 percent.

Train Ticket Guide

Buy tickets in advance

This method is especially good for buying tickets in a compartment. With an advance purchase (up to 45 days for long-distance and up to 60 days for international routes), the ticket price is significantly reduced. In some areas, according to this scheme, tickets can be purchased with a benefit of up to 40% of the standard cost. The rule here is simple - the closer the date of departure of a train, the more expensive the ticket, so plan a trip well in advance and buy tickets after they go on sale.

But on the day sales start, you should not buy tickets - in any case, to popular destinations: the price in this case will be higher than that which will be set on the second or third day. Experienced travelers know that the highest demand is on the opening day of sales. But do not overdo it and try to buy a ticket at least one month before departure - in this case you can count on additional discounts (usually 20%) on the upper shelves in compartment cars. It should also be remembered that it will only be possible to save money by purchasing at least 10 days in no way less, since when ordering a ticket closer to the departure date, a registration fee will also be charged, which is not available with an advance purchase.

Enjoy discounts

In almost every direction you can buy tickets at a discount from the main price. Discounts can be due to various reasons (seasonality, lack of demand, etc.) - it is important for us to know only what they are. First of all, we advise you to follow the stocks (subscribe to news) organized by Russian Railways. You can do this on the official website of the company, all current offers are also available there.

As already mentioned above, due to discounts, it often happens that compartment tickets are cheaper than reserved seats (including due to discounts on seats on the upper shelves, as has already been mentioned). And if you want to drive in the compartment even cheaper, then remember that from November 16 to December 24, there is a special offer on which you can buy seats on the upper shelves at a discount of not as much as 20%, but as much as 35%.

Another trick, we repeat, the way is that if you are going to a stop that is not far from the train's arrival point, it is best to buy a ticket to the final one, since discounts usually apply to the entire route, and you can overpay, even despite the shorter distance. The same applies to the reverse situation, when a passenger needs to catch a train at the next station after departure - the ticket in this case is more profitable to buy from the train departure station.

Please note that an additional discount can often be obtained when buying a train ticket in both directions (round-trip).

Accumulate Railway Miles

Russian Railways has its own loyalty program: register on the Russian Railways website Bonus, get a card number, indicate its number each time you purchase a ticket on the website - and accumulate bonus points, which you can then pay for a new ticket. After three trips with a virtual card, a plastic version will be sent to you by mail. On it, among other things, you can eat at a discount of 7% in restaurants near. Exist and cumulative discountsand on the VTB-24 Russian Railways card.

You can also use a card with the Cashback option - in this case, part of the money after the purchase will be returned to your card. And do not forget about children's tickets! So, children under 5 years old can travel accompanied by adults for free, though without providing a separate place. If there are two children, then the second child can get a ticket with a discount of 50% (the size of the discount may be different, and details can be found on the Russian Railways website or by phone). Benefits apply to all children under the age of 14 years - just remember to bring a birth certificate with you.

Book tickets online

Today, there are already many sites that compete with each other to attract as many buyers as possible. Accordingly, the price of tickets when buying on the site may be cheaper than if you buy them at the box office of Russian Railways. At first glance, this is surprising, but it should be borne in mind that Russian Railways provides significant discounts to its partners under a cooperation agreement, due to which the latter can set more favorable prices. By the way, tickets on the Russian Railways website itself are also cheaper than at the box office (no need to rent a room, pay for the work of cashiers, etc.).

Save on insurance

By default, insurance fees are necessarily included in the price of almost any ticket. However, having refused insurance, you can very well save a couple of hundred rubles. By the way, few people know about this, but you can refuse insurance literally before the train leaves (more precisely, no less than 30 minutes before departure). Of course, it’s nice to feel protected, but the likelihood that something will happen to you on the road is extremely small, and you can save too. By the way, the full amount of insurance upon the occurrence of an insured event is paid only to disabled people of the 1st group, as well as to disabled children.

Drive long distances with transfers

This rule, which is usually cited as an example when talking about air tickets, also applies to rail tickets. If you have to spend more than one day on the road, develop a route with transfers. With proper planning of the route, the duration of the trip will not exceed the travel time of the direct train, and you can save a lot of money on this. Some sites already offer a special service for selecting tickets with transfers.

If you travel abroad, it will be more profitable to buy two tickets: the first - from your station to the nearest frontier in the territory of a neighboring state, and the second - already to the destination station (for example, Moscow - Brest can be divided into two sections Moscow - Orsha and Orsha - Brest). In this way, you can save quite significantly on international tariffs.

Buy non-refundable tickets

As the name implies, a non-refundable ticket cannot be returned if for some reason you change your mind about going. Exception: force majeure circumstances. However, if you are sure that you will go, then the cost of such a ticket may be significantly lower than the usual price.

Travel on the Sapsan

For some trains, Russian Railways has a separate discount system. For example, in Sapsan, which runs on the route Moscow - St. Petersburg, a 20% discount on a return ticket is applied - it is automatically applied when buying tickets in both directions.

For those who constantly wander between the two capitals, Sapsan sells discount cards: if you travel every week, such a card will quickly pay for itself and save money.

Special discounts: –35% for newlyweds and birthday people (7 days before / after birthday or within a month after the wedding).

Follow the shares of Russian Railways

For trips around Russia, an additional 25% or more can be saved with the “Good Tuesday” promotion.

This ticketing event is held every Tuesday. The list of trains appears on the website of Russian Railways on Monday. Sometimes the discount reaches 35% of the total ticket price. The promotion is valid only for certain trains, the number of seats is limited.

Discounts on top shelves in a compartment

For some destinations there is a discount “Higher - cheaper” - until the end of the summer a 20% discount for lovers of the upper shelves. With this promotion, you can buy tickets in a compartment almost at the cost of a reserved seat. The discount is up to 40% on the stock, while the standard discount on the upper shelves in the compartment is 10-20%. Basically, the discount applies to regional trains. There are separate floating tariffs for metropolitan areas (St. Petersburg and Moscow).

Regarding the prices of tickets for the holidays

The lowest prices for trains are in the fall, immediately after the New Year holidays and May 9th. Discounts can be up to 50% of the original price. The highest prices, of course, are during the peak seasons, when everyone needs it — during the periods of holidays and holidays: March 7–10, June 8–12, June 29 – September 2, December 29–30.

Well, the basic rules are written. It's time to plan your vacation .... and go get tickets!

By the rules - on platforms   You can smoke if the station building is at least 15 meters away.

“The ban on the consumption of tobacco products does not apply to platforms and platforms serving as stopping places for long-distance trains for boarding and disembarking passengers and equipping railway cars, except for places less than fifteen meters from the entrances to the premises of railway stations”, - stated in the commentary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the Federal Law of February 23, 2013 N 15-ФЗ (as amended on December 31, 2014) “On protecting the health of citizens from exposure to ambient tobacco smoke and the effects of tobacco consumption” The text of the law can be seen about trains - article 12.

No smoking anywhere inside the long-distance train.

In practice, they smoke on the platform. While the train is moving - in the inter-car junctions (in new trains, for example, the Swift, it will not work). This is illegal, and the conductor has the right to call the police accompanying the train, you will be fined. More often - they will offer to buy a lottery ticket for 100 rubles, which will serve as some guarantee that you will not be noticed with a cigarette. Warning: decide to do so - at your own peril and risk, this is a direct violation of the law. We are not responsible for this.

Can I drink beer on the train?

Not. And the sale of beer by the conductor is also prohibited. In the dining car - you can. (Link to the law)

At the same time, nobody can control what you are doing in your compartment behind closed doors. Lock the door, clean the bottles when a guide, controllers or customs officers enter, and do not interfere with other passengers in this compartment. Warning: we are not responsible for the consequences if you decide to do so.

The calm of other passengers is the most important thing. If the coupe is bought by you entirely or you are traveling with friends who are satisfied with the use of alcoholic beverages, the coupe is not considered a public place. In a number of comments to Art. 25 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation on the inviolability of the home, a separate compartment is equated to it. In any other case, the compartment is a public place, and you can’t drink in it. And if your neighbors are not satisfied with drinking alcohol in a compartment, they have every right to complain about a violation of public order, and then the situation falls under the scope of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

If a drunk passenger inconvenience others and behaves aggressively, other passengers have the right to call a police outfit from the nearest station through a guide (sometimes security guards accompany the train itself). The violator will spend the next hours or days at the police station.

Should the conductor lay the laundry?

  • In compartment cars, CB and soft cars, the upper shelves are always covered immediately. But if you are traveling not from the starting station, but from the intermediate station, and another passenger was in front of the shelf in front of you, the conductor may not have time to redo the laundry during the parking period. If you do not do this later, remind him.
  • In wagons of any category, older people, people with disabilities, children, pregnant women and sick passengers can ask the guide to make bedding. It is free and is included in the official duties of the conductor (he has it in the instructions).
  • In branded trains (in cars of all categories), bedding on the upper shelves is also covered with conductors even before the train arrives for boarding.

In other cases, the conductor is not required to make the bed.

When is it necessary to rent linen?

You are not required to collect and rent the laundry. Strictly speaking, it is the duty of the conductor (according to his job description):

“On the route of the passenger train, the conductor must ... remove bedding after disembarking passengers; in exceptional cases, with the consent of passengers, bedding is allowed to be removed no earlier than 30 minutes before arrival at the train station. ”

However, in reality, it is not easy for the conductor to collect bedding from 54 seats (in a reserved seat car) and quickly turn it in to service personnel at the arrival station, so the conductors ask passengers to hand in the linen themselves.

What if you drove your station?

According to the rules, the conductor is obliged to warn you that you are approaching your station no later than 30 minutes before arrival. If you didn’t get out at your station due to the fact that there was no conductor at all, they didn’t open the door for you, they didn’t wake you, etc., raise a scandal. Find a guide or train leader. Learn more about what you can do.

If you were warned, but you fell asleep again or for some other reason you yourself missed the station, you have to go to the next and look for ways to return.

What to do if you get off the train because there is no electronic registration?

Before you go, look at your e-ticket. If you have passed, to board the train you need a printout of the electronic ticket and the document for which it was purchased. You can print on a regular printer on sheet A4, you can show an electronic ticket on the screen of a mobile device. If there is no ER, you should have a ticket with you on the standard form of Russian Railways. Without him, you will not be put on a train.

It is extremely rare, but there are overlays. If it so happens that you are already on the train, but you are being landed due to the lack of ER, you need to do the following:

  1. Look at the schedule, where the nearest stop with a normal train station (not just an open platform) lasting at least 15 minutes. The schedule hangs on the door of the conductor’s compartment, you can also see it on the Internet.
  2. At this stop, go and (or at the ticket office, if the queues are small). You need to know the number of the electronic ticket (written on it above) and have a document with which you bought the ticket. Despite the fact that the trip has already begun, the ticketing system allows you to do this.

Why, after the departure of the train, check the tickets again

According to the rules for the carriage of passengers, when boarding a train, you must present a ticket. The conductor checks it and the documents and lets you into the carriage.

But according to the same rules, at any time before the train leaves, you have the right to change your mind and leave. And hand over the ticket to the ticket office. That is why, during landing, a control ticket or spine is not torn from it.

After the train has started, the trip is considered to be started. And then the conductor passes through the car, collects tickets, processes them. By the way, you must return the ticket before the end of the trip (usually given before arrival at your station).

How much do tea and other goods on the train actually cost?

It depends on the signature of the train and the type of tea. It is important to know this: most often there is a menu on the compartment door of the conductor; prices are indicated in it. The menu can be noticeable and with pictures, it can be an inconspicuous sign in small print, hanging near the titanium. See how much the bottle of water you buy is worth. Unfortunately, conductors do not always say the right price.

All products that you buy from the conductor must have a sticker of FPK OJSC, even on tea bags and chips. If there is no sticker, this is the personal run-in of the guide. If you pour granulated sugar, but do not give out sugar in a company bag, too.

Boiling water, dishes (a glass, a spoon), soap and toilet paper in the toilet, first-aid kit are provided by the guide for free.

Who can put luggage in the locker under the lower shelf?

The pre-emptive right to use the lower seat for hand luggage on long-distance trains is the passenger traveling on the lower shelf, and the passenger traveling on the upper shelf has the upper seat.

Rules for the carriage of passengers, baggage, cargo luggage by rail (approved by order of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation No. 473 dated December 19, 2013), article 112.

1. What time (local or Moscow) is indicated on my ticket?

If the departure and destination stations are in Russia, Moscow time is indicated on the ticket. If the departure or destination stations are in other countries, then the ticket usually shows the local time of a country. However, there are exceptions: for example, a railway station in the Kazakhstan city of Petropavlovsk is in the jurisdiction of Russian Railways and operates in Moscow time.

It probably makes no sense to give all exceptions here: as a rule, the ticket indicates the time by which the train leaves and arrives. We also tried to take into account all such exceptions in the work of the Yandex. Schedules service.

Formally, the average train speed on a fast train should be at least 50 kilometers per hour, on a passenger train - less. In reality, this rule is not respected. Now fast trains can be distinguished by ticket number and “by eye” - by fewer stops.

Such a gradation is valid in the countries of the former USSR; other countries have their own principles of train gradation.

Emergency (year-round circulation) - 1–150;
  - fast (seasonal and one-time treatment) - 151–298;
  - Passenger (year-round circulation) - 301–450 and 601–698;
  - Passenger seasonal, single-use and children's - 451–598;
  - high-speed - 701–750;
  - high-speed - 751–788;
  - fast, serviced by trains of electric and diesel trains (except for high-speed and high-speed) - 801–898;
  - official and special purposes - 901–920;
  - tourist (commercial) - 921–940;
  - human (freight trains with 10 or more wagons for people) - 941–960;
  - cargo-passenger - 961–970;
  - postal and luggage - 971–998.

The usual suburban and border (regional) - 6001-6998;
  - fast commuter reservations - 7001–7098;
  - fast suburban and city - 7101–7598;
  - official (special purpose) - 7601–7628.

The current updated schedule for Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Lithuania can be viewed on our service. In each of these countries, on the websites of carriers and railway operators, as a rule, there is also an up-to-date schedule.

It depends on the presence of passenger cars. As a rule, there are no such wagons in postal baggage trains, and passengers cannot travel accordingly.

The following types of cars are indicated on tickets and train schedules in Russia and Ukraine:

M - VIP-car with 1- or 2-seater coupe, equipped with bathrooms and shower. In such cars only the entire compartment is sold;
  L - NE (sleeping car), soft with two-seater compartment, one-story and two-story;
  K - compartment with four-seater coupe, one-story and two-story;
  KB - compartment with a compartment buffet;
  KR - compartment with a radio station, one-story and two-story;
  P - (PL), non-living room with sleeping places (reserved seat);
  O - non-mercantile with seats (general);
  C - (Region), interregional with places for sitting, one-story and two-story;
  P - restaurant car, one-story and two-story;
  P - postal;
  B - luggage.

The fare consists of the cost of the ticket, the cost of the reserved seat and the commission fee (in some cases).

A reserved seat is a fee for “booking” a seat on a train. In suburban trains, the cost of a reserved seat is not charged.

Commission fees are different: for renewal and return; for the purchase of tickets for a certain period before departure (in certain countries). Fees are also possible (or, conversely, discounts) for booking tickets on the Internet, fees of the agency in which you bought the ticket (if these are not ticket offices of Russian Railways), and some others.

On the Yandex. Schedule service, you can see train schedules within a number of CIS countries. At the moment, unfortunately, we do not provide timetables for other foreign countries. Train timetables for Europe can be found on the railway sites of countries of interest to you, for example:
Die Bahn. German transport
SBB. Switzerland transport
SNCF. Transport France

Transport sites often not only provide information about trains, but also allow you to calculate the route as a whole, using city buses, commuter trains, and even taking into account hiking. :)

In general, to the administration of the railway that owns the train you are traveling on. If the rights were violated when traveling in a Russian train, you can contact the public reception of Russian Railways.

If you believe that your rights are violated in the carriage by a conductor, contact the train head, and only then - the railway administration of the train formation.

In Russia and Ukraine, as a rule, tickets with transfers are not sold. Moreover, at one box office you may not be able to sell train tickets, the difference between the arrival and departure times of which is three hours or less.

In reality, cases can be different. Trains are rarely late for several hours, therefore, on the Yandex. Schedule service, we search for routes with transfers (with a minimum time for a change of 1 hour), warning the passenger about personal responsibility for his decision. It should be remembered that in a city there can be more than one station, and the distance between them can be quite large.

In Europe, as a rule, you can buy tickets with transfers lasting at least 5 minutes.

No, it is forbidden to use your bedding sets on trains for sanitary reasons.

Yes, you are already insured, and information about this is indicated in one of the ticket lines. Additional insurance, which is offered at some cash desks, only increases the volume of insurance payments. Some exceptions are trains of interstate communication, in which there is no initial insurance.

The conductor is obliged to fulfill all reasonable requests of the passenger: at least three times a day to provide passengers with tea, coffee, confectionery, and in branded trains and SV cars of all categories - at the request of passengers at any time of the day; maintain hot water in the boiler and chilled water in the water cooler; to clean bedding after disembarking passengers, etc. According to the instructions of the guide, in exceptional cases, with the consent of passengers, it is allowed to clean bedding no earlier than 30 minutes before arrival at the railway station.

In case of disagreement with the actions of the conductor of your car, you can contact the head of the train.

As a rule, this situation is most often resolved depending on specific circumstances. Formally, in accordance with the Rules for the Carriage of Passengers, Baggage and Cargo Luggage, the trip of passengers should begin from the station indicated in the travel document (ticket). At the same time, in order to improve the quality of passenger service on trains forming the Federal Passenger Directorate, passengers are allowed to board at any station following the departure station indicated on the ticket, subject to the validity of the ticket and payment for travel along the route.

Return of tickets is made upon presentation of documents proving the identity of the passenger. When returning tickets in an internal Russian message, the passenger will be returned:
  - when returning the ticket within 8 hours before the departure of the train - the full fare;
  - when returning the ticket from 8 to 2 hours before the train departure - 100% of the ticket price and 50% of the reserved seat cost;
  - when returning a ticket from 2 hours before the departure of the train up to 12 hours after departure - 100% of the cost of the ticket.

When returning tickets in interstate communication:
- when returning the ticket within 24 hours before the departure of the train - the full fare;
- when the ticket is returned from 24 to 6 hours before the train departure - 100% of the ticket price and 50% of the reserved seat cost;
- when returning a ticket from 6 hours before the departure of the train up to 3 hours after departure - 100% of the cost of the ticket.

Commissions and other fees (other than insurance) paid when purchasing tickets are not returned to the passenger. A ticket refund operation will be charged.

Already, a train ticket in Russia and Ukraine can be bought without leaving your home and paid for by credit card on the site. For most trains in Russia, you can select the “Electronic check-in” function and only land with a document proving your identity (the number is indicated on the ticket), as well as an itinerary receipt of the electronic ticket printed on the printer (with a bar code). Such trains are marked on our service with a special marker.

If electronic registration for the train is not possible, you should definitely receive a paper ticket at the station by printing the electronic ticket (or its number) and a document proving your identity.

Ticket sales start 45 days before the train departure date (for some trains 60 days before). However, it is often impossible to buy tickets to peak destinations (for example, in the summer towards the Black Sea) just a few hours after the start of sales for 45 days.

Nevertheless, this does not mean that there are no tickets and never will be. It happens that it is impossible to buy tickets for such trains a month before departure, but you can easily buy one day before departure. The reason - in the numerous armor blocking the access of ordinary passengers to the bulk of the tickets.

The terms for withdrawing tickets from reservations can vary, often additional cars are attached to the train, which immediately starts selling tickets. The only thing that can be recommended is to monitor the availability of tickets in the direction you need every day.

The ticket can be reissued to a previously departing train or to another train carriage. Re-issuance of tickets is carried out only if less than 24 hours are left before the departure of the train for which the ticket is reissued. When re-issuing tickets, the travel route cannot be changed (with the exception of train departure or arrival stations).

A fee is charged for reissuing a ticket. In addition, if the cost of a new ticket exceeds the cost of the old, the passenger pays the difference in price. If the cost of a new ticket is less than the cost of the old, then the difference to the passenger is returned, but only if the ticket was purchased in Russia.

Re-issuance of travel documents to another person or to later trains is not performed.

Only tickets from Russia to Russia, sold in Russia to cars of the Russian formation, are subject to recovery. Lost ticket recovery is performed in one of the following places: at the train departure station, at the sales station, at the destination station. A ticket reinstatement application must be addressed to the station attendant. The passenger must present the document for which the ticket was issued (or a police certificate if the ticket was stolen from him along with the passport), indicate the date of departure (the main requisite for searching for information about the ticket, except for the name) and the route of the trip. The recovery process takes 1-2 hours, so you should contact in advance. A duplicate ticket issued to a passenger shall not be returned or reissued. After issuing a duplicate, the original ticket is not refundable.

Since July 1, 2003, for the implementation of a single trip by Russian citizens between the Kaliningrad region and the rest of the territory of the Russian Federation, a mechanism was introduced for issuing and issuing a special Simplified Travel Document on the Railway (UPD ZhD).

The railway control unit is executed by railway cashiers, who simultaneously send a request to the consular department of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Moscow. A transit permit is issued while traveling on a train until a passenger crosses the border with the Republic of Lithuania. Prior to departure, a passenger can receive information about whether transit is allowed at the railway ticket offices equipped with the Express system. Registration of the railway control unit is free of charge. All of the above does not apply to citizens who have a visa of the Republic of Lithuania to cross its border.

The main document for crossing the borders of the Republic of Lithuania and issuing the FRTD is a passport. According to the ordinary passport of the Russian Federation, such a trip is impossible. Tickets to the Kaliningrad region and back are sold only at the box office, they are not issued through the Internet (but you can see the cost and availability there).

Transportation on trains of all categories of small pets, dogs and birds is allowed in excess of the established norm for carrying hand luggage in all wagons (except for wagons with double compartments (SV) and wagons of increased comfort) in the presence of a veterinary certificate and with payment for transportation.

Small pets, dogs and birds are transported in crates, baskets, cages, containers, which should be placed in places intended to accommodate hand luggage.

When transporting small pets, dogs and birds, their owners or accompanying persons must ensure compliance with the sanitary-hygienic regime in the carriage. Carriage of wild animals on trains and wagons of all categories is not permitted.

You can find out more about the rules for transporting animals on long-distance trains on the website of Russian Railways.

Passengers have the right to bring with them for free one child aged not older than 5 years, if he does not occupy a separate seat, as well as children aged 5 to 10 years with payment in accordance with the fare of a child ticket. For children over 10 years of age, travel documents (tickets) are purchased, as for adults. The age of the child is determined on the day the trip begins.

For all children, including those under the age of five, it is necessary to obtain a ticket (in some cases free of charge) at the railway ticket offices before the start of the trip.

There are no special services for traveling with an organized group of children on Russian Railways trains (excluding special children trains, appointed at the request of the regions for organized transportation of large groups of children to places of rest).

Important:   when traveling on a long-distance train with a child, you must have the original of his birth certificate with you (for children over 14 years old - a passport). Without the original document, the child is entitled to refuse boarding the train.

The letter in the train number is an integral part of the number and allows you to distinguish trains with the same number, but the following, for example, in different directions. Example: train 102A - direction Moscow-St. Petersburg, train 102M - direction Moscow-Adler, train 102C - Adler-Moscow. It may be that in the same direction there are trains with the same numerical number, but with different letters. This means that there is either one or another train, and they are somewhat different from each other (for example, the teams serving them).

Theoretically, the maximum comfort should be created for the passenger in the “with services” car: meals, bedding, toiletries, cleaning, possibly air conditioning — all this is included in the ticket price. Nevertheless, it’s rather difficult to predict in advance what will be “included” in the compartment from this list.

If the passport is in exchange, then you can buy a ticket using any other identification document, for example, a passport, military ID, official ID. In the absence of other identification documents, you should take from the police a certificate of the appropriate form stating that the passport is in exchange. If the ticket has already been bought with a passport that needs to be changed, then you need to take a certificate from the police stating that the passport with the indicated number was handed over.

No, such information is not provided to anyone except law enforcement agencies.

A technical stop is a stop that is laid out in the train schedule due to possible technological need - for example, if you need to skip a faster train or change the locomotive. It is impossible to buy a ticket to and from technical stops - in some cases, a train can simply pass a technical stop.

In 2006, Russian Railways introduced a number of trains and wagons dividing the compartment into “male”, “female” and “mixed”. In men's compartments, tickets were sold only to men, and in women's compartments, only to women. Mixed compartments were intended for couples, families with children, and passengers not seeking a “gender” coupe. However, during the experiment a number of controversial issues emerged, and the scale of the introduction of separate coupes was significantly reduced.

In Russia, it is allowed to carry bicycles in disassembled and packed form luggage on long-distance trains on account of the established norm for carrying luggage if they can be placed in places intended for placing luggage. It should also be borne in mind that items that can damage or contaminate the wagon or other passengers ’items are not allowed for carriage by hand.

This is a pretty serious question that does not have a definitive answer. The current Regulation on the taking of television, video, film and photography on the infrastructure of public railway transport owned by Russian Railways, approved by order of Russian Railways OJSC No. 1513r of July 18, 2008, does not apply to shooting intended for personal use and carried out at passenger service stations at stations, stations, stopping points, which do not interfere and do not create inconvenience and danger to the movement of passengers. You can see the answer of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation in more detail here: part 1, part 2, part 3. Thus, you can take pictures. However, be prepared that not all security guards may be familiar with this instruction and you may expect an unpleasant conversation. In addition, be sure that you are not photographing a secret or closed object (we repeat that stations and trains do not belong to this category).

It would seem that it can be difficult when traveling by train. I sat down and go quietly. But, unfortunately, from time to time I notice that many people often do not know their rights and opportunities, and because of this they have inconvenience when traveling. On the other hand, having worked for some time as a conductor, I had the opportunity to look at passengers from the side, and I understand that some people do things contrary to logic.

If necessary, read on the train "Russian Railways", as well as on what you can save on and. And today we’ll talk about little tricks, which, unfortunately, far from everyone knows.

11 little tricks when traveling by train "Russian Railways"

1. Refund of a train ticket

You can return the purchased train tickets; this is no secret to anyone. Moreover, if you surrender earlier than 8 hours before the departure of the train, then you will lose only the surrender fee (before the end of 2017 - 192.7 rubles). The later you return the ticket, the less money will be returned to you.

But it’s interesting that even if you are late for the train, you can still hand over tickets. It's possible no later than 12 hours   after the departure of the train. Money will be returned to you a little, but it is still better than zero. Perhaps it will be more profitable for you to renew your ticket for the next train (naturally, you will lose some of the money too).

Details on returning train tickets to. Details about how much you lose if you pass a train ticket.

2. Free toilet at the station

All stations have a toilet. At the entrance there is written the cost. But if you decide to visit it no more than two hours before the departure of your train, then you must miss for free. Show the ticket at the entrance and go through. It is useful, especially considering the fact that after departure, toilets in many cars do not open immediately.

3. For fans to resort to at the last moment

If you managed to train in the last minutes before departure, then it is not necessary to try to get into your car. According to the instructions, if no more than 5 minutes are left before the train leaves, then you should be put in any carriage in your train. True, this is provided that your ticket is printed on a two-layer orange blank of the automated control system “Express” at the ticket office or on a single-layer in the terminal (by the way, a ticket with electronic registration can also be printed in the terminal).

Theoretically, there may be problems with paper printouts of electronic tickets, but they should not. The guides are now not looking at them, but at their lists. It is rare that they do not have lists. Usually then planted on a printout.

Especially pay attention to this rule if you catch a train at stations where the parking time is 1-2 minutes. More than once I saw a picture of how some full woman in a hurry runs to such a car at such a station, does not have time, and starts scolding trains, guides and everything in the world. Although in reality she herself was to blame for not getting into the first carriage that came across. At such a station, I would definitely take care in advance to receive a ticket on an orange form, just in case.

In general, better not be late! Remember that no one will land you on the move, even if the speed of the train is still very small: the conductor can be fined or fired for it.

4. Dry closets in neighboring cars.

If you got on a train and found that the toilets in your carriage are of the old type and are closing at the stations, do not worry. Perhaps in a nearby car you will find a dry closet.

In accordance with sanitary standards, Russian Railways already purchases only wagons with dry closets. Old wagons appear less frequently, but still drive. Often now you can meet a situation where old cars and new ones are hooked in the same train (the irony is that the price will be the same for them). If you are not lucky enough to get into the old one, and there is an urgent need to visit the toilet while parking, try to get around a couple of neighboring cars. Perhaps you will find a dry closet that will solve your problem.

5. Never use a regular toilet at stations!

If you still have an old-style toilet in your carriage, with a drain to the path, then please do not use it during parking! True, no!

This rule was invented for a reason. It happens that the conductor did not have time / forgot to close the toilet in front of the station. In addition, at each station, where the parking is 1-2 minutes, you also do not run to close these doors. For these cases, there is a personal responsibility of the passenger!

At the same time people go to the station, fitters work. They will not be very pleased if they pour on their heads, sorry, “the contents of the toilet”. For such a conductor can be fined.

Even if it seems to you that the train stopped in the field, you do not need to use the toilet. Perhaps this is such a station)

If you went to the toilet on the go, and the train suddenly arrived somewhere and stopped, then just don’t flush it until the train goes further. Seriously, that would be more correct.

6. Drinking water in the car

In titanium, you can draw water for tea, of course, this is nothing new. Moreover, if you suddenly see that the temperature is far from 100 degrees, then remember that it is possible to make tea anyway. I have experimentally found that a tea bag is brewed at a temperature of 70 degrees. Below it does not work out.

On the other hand, if the water temperature is very low (this happens, for example, early in the morning or immediately after departure, if the conductor forgot / did not manage to turn on the titanium), then do not be afraid that the water is unboiled. Titanium is designed in such a way that raw water cannot pour from a tap. If the temperature is low, then it once boiled, and then just cooled.

Also opposite the titanium, next to the office, there is cold water. It is also boiled there, comes from titanium. But the problem is that the pipes it goes through may be old, and not the fact that it will be of good quality. Personally, I do not drink this water.

7. How to pour boiling water

When you pour boiling water into a glass, always keep a spoon in a glass, and the glass itself in a cup holder. So you reduce the likelihood that the glass will crack from hot water. This is rare, but the possibility exists.

In addition, in the instructions for the conductors there is a rule that, I think, will be useful for all people - if you need to carry two cup holders, then you should do this with one hand. The second hand should be free.   This is in case the train suddenly brakes or turns so that it is possible to grab the handrail with your free hand and not scald anyone. Yes, and no more than two cupholders at a time.

8. A glass with a spoon

If you have your own tea or you just wanted water, then it is not necessary to buy tea from the guide. The conductor can provide a glass in a cup holder and a spoon for free. The keyword is "can." I used to write that he was obliged to do this (it was), but they clarified in the comments, and I checked - according to the new rules, a glass with a spoon is provided if you buy tea. But the important point is that the conductors themselves do not always know about it. I interviewed several, they were very surprised, because they, like me, were sure that everything was free. So you can ask, but they will give it or not - it’s already as lucky.

In addition, not always, but it happens that there are knives and forks in the cars. Surely free, but even less often there is chess. There should also be a first-aid kit, although now nothing sensible is being put into it. And also, if necessary, the head of the train can call doctors to the patient while standing at a large station.

9. Return items to where you got them.

If suddenly, you took a glass from the conductor with a cup holder (spoon, fork or whatever) and left with him in the next carriage to your friends, then be sure to return the property exactly to where you took. If you think that you can hand it in any carriage, and it will return where it is necessary, then you are mistaken. Each conductor is responsible for the property of his own car and reports on it. Yes, perhaps he finds out from the conductor of the neighboring car that he has extra items. But this does not always open up. What can we say about cars located far from each other. And if there is a shortage, the conductor will have to cover the cost from his pocket. A spoon is inexpensive, but the cup holder is already noticeable. So do not neglect this rule!

10. Complaint book on the train

I have already mentioned that, if necessary, a complaint book can be requested from the guide. A book of reviews and suggestions is in every train and it is stored in the head carriage at the head of the train. If for some reason the conductor refuses to provide you with this book, you can take a walk to the staff car (by the way, do not forget to write about this fact too). It is located approximately in the middle of the train (ask any guide where it is). There, contact the train chief directly. In general, you can ask to call the head of the train to your car to resolve any conflict situations.

When compiling a complaint, indicate the date, route, train and wagon number, name of the conductor, and describe in detail the essence of the problem. Of course, conflict situations are different, and not all of them are worth recording in the plaintiff book. Nevertheless, you need to know about this possibility. The conductors are afraid of complaints, because because of them, the conductor can be deprived of the bonus, suspended for some time or even fired. Consequently, once he received a complaint for a glass with a cup holder that was not provided free of charge, the next time he would be upset to break the rules.

It often happens that a passenger unreasonably requires some things. But then you will be indicated by the head of the train.

In addition, a thank you guide can also be written in the review book. If you liked the service, feel free to ask the guide to bring the book. Then they will bring it to you right away, of course)

11. Do not fold your laundry before delivery!

Last but important rule: never fold beddingbefore you pass it! Seriously, just never, never fold!

Some people think that if they put the laundry in a beautiful pile, then the conductor will be more pleasant, or that it is more convenient, decent or the like. In fact, the opposite is more uncomfortable and unpleasant!

One-time train tickets are of two types: for one round trip and one round trip.
