Lookout 89 floor Federation Tower. See above: where are the best viewing platforms. Observation deck on the Sparrow Hills

Prague is a European city with a long history, which is filled with its squares, streets and buildings. You can see the whole city at a glance from one of the many viewing platforms that are on towers and hills. Panorama enthusiasts and photographers will especially appreciate the following selection of heights. We have collected the main panoramic views of Prague.

The highest point in Prague is (Petřínská rozhledna), which is often referred to as the Prague Eiffel Tower. Its height is 80 meters, but the upper platform is at an altitude of 55 meters. Convenient location on the hill of the same name allows you to see from the height of the whole Zlata Prague and its surroundings. On the tower, one above the other, two observation platforms, which can be accessed both by stairs, encircling the tower in a spiral from the outside, and by elevator. Elevator lift is paid. But it’s worth, nevertheless, to visit the tower - on a clear day from the top platform you can even see mountains that are 150 kilometers from Prague.

At the foot of the tower on a 318-meter-high hill, Petřín Gardens are spread out - vast territories planted with various trees, and apple and pear trees grow in one corner of the park. You can get there in one of the cabins of the cable car, which has been carrying passengers for 130 years. On the hill is the panoramic restaurant Nebozizek, from which you can see the Vltava River and Charles Bridge in detail. Not far from the tower of the same name is a magnificent rose garden, consisting of three parts, each of which gave its own special shape. Blooming roses look great from the observation deck of the tower.

The tower of the largest and most famous cathedral of Prague - the Cathedral - is the second highest observation deck of the city. The total height of the south tower of the cathedral is 96 meters; the observation deck is just below. Climbing 300 steps without a lift and with several platforms for respite is not a test for everyone, but the view from there is worth all the effort. Old and New Prague are visible at a glance, you can easily see other memorable places that are nearby, and the sea of Prague's red and brown roofs looks as peculiar as in no other city.

Made in the Gothic style, this 56-meter tower is one of the unique buildings of medieval Prague. Initially, it was used as an observation and watchtower: from it they watched the city and warned about flaring up fires. The peculiarity of the ascent to this tower is that the steps to the viewing gallery are not slabs, but sloping plates. Instead of walking, you can use the modern elevator. Visitors to the gallery have a beautiful view of the Old Town. In addition, the tower is famous - this is a unique watch that not only shows the time of day, day, month, year, time of sunrise and sunset of the moon and the location of the zodiac signs, but also every hour before the chimes show a small representation of the repertoire of medieval puppet theaters. What makes the watch unique is that it was created in stages, from the 15th to the 19th centuries.

On both sides are the Old Town and Malostransky bridge towers. recognized as one of the most beautiful Gothic towers in Europe and is located on the eastern bank of the Vltava River. It was through the arch of this tower that Czech kings entered Prague. Climbing 136 steps, you can get to the observation platform, which offers a view not only of the Old Town, but also of the opposite side of Charles Bridge and the Malostransky Bridge Towers. Malostrana towers - Malaya and Vysokaya - were built at different times, but they were always part of the fortifications on the left side of the city. From the viewing gallery of the High Tower, the Church of St. Nicholas, located nearby, is also clearly visible. 146 steps lead to it.

Ganava Pavilion

In Prague is another observation point of Prague -. Built as an exhibit for the Industrial Exhibition held in Prague in 1891, it is a unique technical, engineering and architectural structure. After being transferred to Letensky Gardens, a restaurant was opened in it, which is still operating today. The Ganava Pavilion offers views of the Vltava and all the bridges of Prague. Many artists come there to capture on their canvases such an old, but still bewitchingly beautiful Prague Castle.

Powder Tower

 - unfinished gates to the Old City, which are located on Republic Square. The construction of the current tower began in the 15th century, but it was not completed, since the need for this defensive structure disappeared. After numerous reconstructions, the Powder Tower was designed in a single pseudo-Gothic style, which it has remained to this day. The structure got its name due to the fact that in the XVIII century the tower, covered with a temporary roof, was used as a powder warehouse.

On the outer walls of the facade of the tower you can see sculptures of its creators, the kings of the Czech Republic from different times, national saints, as well as numerous church plots. The tower itself rises above the city by 65 meters, and 186 steps lead to the second floor. The observation deck is located at an altitude of 44 meters and represents a passage along the perimeter of the roof. From it you can see the Old Town.

Another place with a surprisingly beautiful view of Prague is the tower of St. Mikulas Cathedral, as the famous St. Nicholas is called in the Czech Republic. In Prague, two cathedrals dedicated to this saint are located on Old Town Square, and the second on Malostranskaya. The tower on Malostranskaya Square is notable for the fact that it has always been the property of the city and is not directly related to the cathedral itself, except for its location. She performed guard functions - from her guards monitored the safety of the city from enemies or natural disasters. In addition, the belfry was located in the tower, but in 1925 a fire destroyed everything except the largest bell, which was named in honor of the saint - “Mikulash”. The observation balcony is located at an altitude of 65 meters and is located above the clock tower. The entire surrounding area is perfectly visible from it.

Built in 1992. Its massive, sky-high forms violated the general architectural style of Prague, and the destruction of the ancient Jewish cemetery, on the site of which it was built, did not add popular love to this building. After the end of the velvet revolution, its supporting pillars were temporarily decorated with the works of the scandalous Czech sculptor: huge black ones, which are visible even from Charles Bridge. The townspeople liked the decoration so much that it was decided to leave the babies.

After the TV tower was recognized as the second ugliest building in the world, the Czechs changed their attitude towards it. With the help of a major reconstruction, the tower was converted into a closed observation platform. Three separate rooms are located at an altitude of 93 meters. They are equipped with modern facilities that provide guests with a variety of information about modern Prague. At the bottom of the tower are a restaurant, cafe and a unique hotel with only one room.

The fortress is one of the symbols of the state of the Czech Republic. Built in the 10th century, Vysehrad Castle condescendingly gazed at the young city, bustling about under its wing. From the walls of the castle, Princess Libushe predicted Prague world fame and prosperity. The capital of the Czech Republic really took its rightful place among European capitals, in the 19th century incorporating Vysehrad, which is now one of the districts of Prague. From the observation platforms of Vysehrad, an unforgettable view of the whole city, its ancient and modern quarters opens.

The most visited observation deck by tourists is located right next to the fortress wall of Prague Castle. From a wide platform, the Old and New Towns are clearly visible. Among the many roofs you can see the church of St. Nicholas, which is located on Malostranskaya Square, and in the distance you can see two towers of the Church of the Virgin Mary on Old Town Square. It is believed that it is from this viewing platform that the best view of the amazing European city is Zlata Prague.

There are so many interesting and unusual things in Moscow that it’s hard to choose where to go. Museums, art galleries, parks, the Kremlin with Red Square, churches and estates - you can’t list everything, let alone a week. A good way out in this case would be to visit the viewing platforms - a favorite place for travelers in any tourist city. After all, only from a height you can capture this huge city with a look, admire the beautiful metropolitan panoramas and, of course, make a lot of stunning photographs.
Moscow is not only the capital, but also a city of contrasts, so there are many viewing platforms and each is impressive in its own way. One will focus on the historical center, the other on the urban environment, the third - on some interesting monuments, and the fourth will be able to cover the whole thing.

The list of Moscow sightseeing is quite impressive, because in addition to the official ones there are many shtetl towns known only to native Muscovites. In addition, it is constantly updated, because the number of viewing platforms is growing every year, and this is primarily due to the emergence of new architectural objects, on the upper floors of which it is now customary to equip the city with a view. Below I will try to give a list of the most interesting and diverse viewing platforms in Moscow, definitely worthy of attention.

Free viewing platforms

The first place in the list of viewing platforms I will give lookout on Sparrow Hills.

Located on a rather high bank of the Moskva River, not far from the red metro line, it is popular with both residents and visitors. The main reason is that next to the observation deck there is a forest park area and an extended pedestrian promenade, well suited for recreation, walking and cycling, which, incidentally, can be rented right here in the park. Here, the cableway opens, which connects the Vorobyovy Gory and Luzhniki - also quite an observation deck.

From a height of 80 meters - the natural height of the banks of the Moscow River you will see the updated Luzhniki Stadium, a panorama of Moscow City on the background of the water and even the city center.

Nearby is another viewing point near the unique building of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The entrance is free.

Not so long ago after a long reconstruction was opened Central Children's World, which is located between the metro stations - Lubyanka and Kuznetsky Most. A free observation deck appeared on the top floor, from which you can see the historical center of Moscow. (Caution! Recently, a fee for visiting the viewing room has been introduced)

And there is also the Museum of childhood, which we talked about here.
The role of the youngest and most unusual viewing platform rightfully belongs The soaring bridge in Zaryadye park, located near Vasilyevsky Spusk, next to the metro and public transport links Kitay Gorod.

It was opened only a year ago, but has already become a popular place in Moscow. An interesting engineering structure has no analogues in the world, and it can only be called a bridge conditionally, rather it’s a V-shaped console hanging over Moskvoretskaya embankment. Thanks to this design, the bridge was given the name “Soaring”. Although the bridge is not high - only 15 meters above the river, it offers good views of the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Church, embankments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, GUM and, of course, Zaryadye Park itself. The only minus of this viewing platform is a large number of people even on weekdays.
Entrance to all of the above viewing platforms is absolutely free, and there is not even a time limit on Vorobyovy Gory, which will allow you to admire Moscow at night.
By the way, not only in Zaryadye there is a view bridge. Our favorite view of the Kremlin is stone and Patriarchal bridges.

Observation Decks in Moscow City

The image of modern Moscow is relatively recently built on the Presnenskaya embankment business complex of the capital Moscow-City. Consisting of ultra-modern skyscraper buildings, the complex dilutes and revitalizes the cityscape of Moscow. It is not surprising that observation platforms are equipped on the upper floors of these buildings, one of which has become the highest in Moscow and even in Europe. There are several of them - they are located on the 58th (Empire Tower), 87th (Eye Tower) and 89th (Federation East Tower) floors of three adjacent buildings. Each of them has its own chips. In the empire tower the observation deck appeared before the others. The view from it is limited to other towers, but you will see the main attractions. But she has the lowest price, the Moscow City Museum is working.

In the Federation Tower East there is a restaurant on the observation deck, the world's tallest ice cream factory "Clean Line", concerts and other events are held. The site is closed, as in the Empire, but from it a 360-degree panorama of Moscow opens.

In the eye tower There is an open observation deck, so its visit is limited by weather conditions. There is also a restaurant.
The views, as you might guess, are amazing from here, especially in the evening, when the capital, plunged into the darkness, flashes with bright lights. The only annoyance is that it’s clear that the views from here are already without the usual business center towers in the capital’s panorama of the towers.
Entrance to all the viewing points is paid, its cost varies from 600 to 1500 RUB depending on the time of day and the selected height.
In addition to the official viewing platforms, there are many panoramic restaurants in Moscow City. But, as you know, just like that you can’t come and take a picture of Moscow, the prices are all high.

Other paid viewing platforms

The following series of viewing platforms is available only when buying a ticket or an excursion, including a climb to the observation deck. This is first lookout from the bell tower of Ivan the Great, which takes place in the heart of the capital - in the Moscow Kremlin.

The site, located in the first tier of ringing, is only 25 meters high, so you should not wait for wide panoramas, but the view of the interior of the Kremlin’s architectural ensemble is very informative. From here, from a bird's eye view, all the cathedrals and towers of the Moscow Kremlin are perfectly visible.
For the rise to the bell tower you must pay 250 RUB, while another ticket to the Kremlin is purchased separately. The site is open from May 15 to September 30, tickets are sold at the box office of the Alexander Garden no later than 45 minutes before the start of the tour. Visitors are allowed in sessions of groups of 10 people. However, in order to be able to get to the bell tower it is better to come to the opening of the box office itself, since there are not so many sessions per day - only five or six.
Another famous site in the center of the capital is in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. It is located near the metro station Kropotkinskaya.

The viewing point is not very high - only 40 meters, but a good location allows you to see an interesting panorama of Moscow. Kremlin, Arbat, Poklonnaya Gora, Pushkin Museum im. Pushkin and other main attractions of Moscow. The rise is carried out in an organized manner, as part of an excursion group, the current price is 450 rubles.

One of the most interesting and at the same time the oldest viewing platforms is in the building of Moscow State University on Sparrow Hills.

I wrote about the free viewing room above, the same site on the 32nd floor of the educational building attracts not only with stunning views of the whole of Moscow, but from here the whole capital is “in full view” - historical buildings, mansions and churches, residential areas and green forest parks, wide avenues and narrow streets - all this metropolitan panorama can be captured with a glance, being on the lookout, but also with its special atmosphere and history. The building, built in the middle of the 20th century, still preserves the indescribable atmosphere of the institution, known to us from Soviet films. Therefore, the tour, and most often it is with her, a passage to the observation deck is possible, will leave only the most positive impressions. In addition to the site, it will be possible to wander through the ceremonial halls and halls, examine the sculptural busts of scientists, look into the classrooms, in general, get acquainted with a curious page of history. The cost of the tour is 600 - 800 rubles.
The observation deck known to everyone is located on the highest building in Europe - Ostankino television towerrecently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The television tower is located at the address known to many since childhood. Academician Korolev, 15, near the station of the same name of the Leningrad direction.
The observation deck is at 85 meters. Although the tower is far from the main central streets, in good weather you can literally see all of Moscow and even the surrounding villages near Moscow. An observation ticket costs 700 RUB on weekdays and 1100 on weekends, it is better to pre-buy them on the tower website, choosing early sessions in order to avoid unnecessary crowding. At the same time, children under 7 years old are not allowed, and because of the design features, also people with disabilities. There is an opportunity to visit the excursion "Tower from the inside", the cost is from 1100 to 1600 p.
In Gorky Park You can climb the roof of the main gate.

From a height of 18 meters, a panorama of the park opens, as well as a view of the Vorobyovy Gory, Shukhov Tower, Novy Arbat, Neskuchny Garden, high-rise buildings of Moscow State University and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a separate group, I would classify viewing rooms located in high-rise hotel buildings. For example, this should include two hotels located almost in the city center - Swissotel Red Hills "(metro Paveletskaya) and" Radisson Royal ", the former Ukraine (metro Kiev).

In the first hotel, the observation deck is located on the 34th floor along a 360-degree trajectory. In another hotel, a 120-meter-high platform is located on two floors at once - the 29th and 30th, the premises of which are occupied by an Italian restaurant. Huge panoramic windows of the restaurant on the covered terrace allow you to enjoy the views of the historical center of Moscow, the metropolitan architecture, the domes of churches without getting up from the tables.
On the whole, Moscow viewing rooms not only help to get to know the capital better, consider historical monuments, but they themselves are already interesting objects of architecture and urban planning. It remains to find the most attractive place for yourself and enjoy the views from there.

Moscow viewing platforms allow you to enjoy fantastic views of the capital from a bird's eye view: skyscrapers, Stalin's skyscrapers, ancient monuments of the Kremlin, etc. Consider the most popular objects that have the conditions for a panoramic view.

Free viewing platforms in Moscow

1. The observation deck on the Sparrow Hills

Probably the most famous and traditional observation deck of the capital, and therefore the most beloved. It is enough to take the metro to the Vorobyovy Gory station, climb the paths toward Moscow State University, and you can already enjoy the city views: the Moscow River, the Luzhniki sports complex, Moscow City skyscrapers, the Ostankino television tower, etc. In the distance you can see the Temple Christ the Savior, some of and many modern multi-story business centers.

2. Observation deck near the RAS

Not far from the observation deck on, literally 20-30 minutes walk from it, there is a lesser-known observation deck - near the building of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Here we can see the same thing as from the site on the Sparrow Hills, only from a different angle. It offers a beautiful view of Moscow State University and. The historical center of the city is clearly visible, as well as the Vorobyovy Gory station itself. The only negative is a rather dense building, due to which the review is a bit limited.

3. The observation deck on the roof of the DTM

This observation deck appeared not so long ago, after the reconstruction of the Central Children's Store, and is located on its roof. The store building is 8-storey, so only the upper part of the nearest attractions and towering Kremlin towers, bell towers of churches and cathedrals are visible from it, the Stalin skyscraper on Kotelnicheskaya embankment, Lubyanka Square and the FSB building are clearly visible, and of course, a beautiful view of the roofs of the nearest city center buildings.

On the observation deck, special binoculars are installed through which you can view the surroundings, but because of the high attendance it is quite difficult to get to them.

The store is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00. It’s best to come after lunch, as at this time, the sun will shine in the back, which will allow you to take good photos.

Store address: Teatralny pr-d, d.5 / 1, metro station - Lubyanka.

The store has underground parking, the cost is from 100 to 200 rubles per hour.

4.

This is a pedestrian bridge located near the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, which connects Prechistenskaya and Bersenyevskaya embankments. It offers a beautiful view of the Kremlin, the chambers of Averky Kirillov, the famous House on the embankment and the equally famous art cluster "Red October". You can get here from Art. metro Kropotkinskaya.

5. Observation deck of the Triumph Palace skyscraper

Triumph Palace is a residential complex, which in 2003 fell into the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest residential building in Europe. Its height with a spire is more than 260 m. Outwardly, Triumph Palace looks like the famous Moscow Stalinist skyscrapers, but it is still clearly noticeable that this is a remake.

The observation deck is equipped at an altitude of 200 m. It offers a breathtaking view of the northern and northwestern parts of the city, and the sights of the center of the capital are clearly visible.

The main minus is that, because it is an elite residential complex equipped with a checkpoint, it is almost impossible for an outsider to get here, only by meeting, or somehow agreeing with a concierge.

Paid viewing platforms in Moscow

1. Ostankino television tower

The observation deck is equipped with binoculars so that you can see the objects of interest in detail.

The cost of visiting is 300 rubles. The price includes inspection of the museum exposition and access to the observation deck. Opening hours: from 10:00 to 22:00.

4. Ivan the Great Bell Tower in the Kremlin

The tallest building in the Kremlin - the bell tower of Ivan the Great - was erected in the 16th century during the reign of Boris Godunov. The observation deck is located in the first bell tier at an altitude of 25 m above the ground. In order to climb it, it is necessary to overcome 137 feet of a steep staircase. From this height, a view of Cathedral Square, churches, ancient streets of Zamoskvorechye, opens.

Excursions to the observation deck are carried out strictly according to the schedule: 10:15, 11:15, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, from May 15 to September 30 there is a session at 17:00, Thursday is a day off . The number of tickets is limited.

The height of the bell tower is 25 m. Children under 14 are not allowed. Tourists can use the help of an audio guide. The tour with an audio guide lasts 45 minutes.

5. Observation deck in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior

Observation deck on the Picturesque bridge

Separately, you can mention the observation deck. Currently, it does not work, because not all construction work is completed. According to the authorities, the opening is planned for 2016.

The picturesque bridge in Serebryany Bor is a complex helical-pylon structure with a total length of more than one kilometer. Its highlight will be a glazed observation deck installed at its highest point. From a platform resembling a flying saucer, a panoramic view of the Moscow River, the Rowing Canal, and the Krylatskoye area opens. The site will be available only to newlyweds, since in the near future it is planned to open a registry office here.

Observation Decks -inevitable points of attraction and one of the most attractive places on the map of any major city and tourist center. Tourists visit them, the newlyweds adore them, artists and poets favor them - people of all ages come here to take a closer look at the city. Moscow was no exception: the capital is striking in scale, but how to see it from a height of human growth?

Observation Decks in Moscow allow you to feel the scale of the metropolis and enjoy its beauties and sights. The capital was really lucky in this regard: the hilly terrain with elevation differences, the presence of river valleys and the variable number of storeys of buildings led to the appearance in Moscow of a really large number of viewing platforms and observation points - and this is not only the Vorobyovy Gory, from which the guidebooks are full of views. Bridges, hills, roofs of buildings and various buildings - the capital has where to show off the cityscape!

We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the most famous viewing points of the city, as well as little-known, but interesting viewpoints. The list includes both free and paid sites. The indicated prices and opening hours are relevant on the date of publication of the material (December 17, 2018), we recommend that you check them on the official websites before visiting.
