The main Moscow panorama - an observation deck on the Sparrow Hills - was opened in 1953, simultaneously with the new building of Moscow State University. This place is definitely worth a visit if this is your first time in the “golden-domed” and you want to see almost all the main symbols of the capital: the Stalinist skyscrapers and “book” houses on Novy Arbat, the Foreign Ministry and the White House, the Ostankino television tower and the monument to Peter the Great ... The list goes on and on.

Not so long ago, free binoculars with a tenfold increase were installed on the observation deck, and now the sights can be considered in detail. A breathtaking view also opens from the upper floors of the main building of Moscow State University, which can be reached by pre-ordering a ticket to the Museum of Land tenure. The Sparrow Hills site is one of the most popular places in the city: there are always a lot of tourist groups, visiting the observation deck is also a traditional stop for wedding processions. In spring and summer, Moscow bikers and street racing enthusiasts gather at the Vorobyevs. Due to the large number of visitors, this panorama is hardly suitable for a secluded romantic date, but everyone is worth seeing at least once in a lifetime to see the “best city of the Earth” from a bird’s eye view.

The famous TV tower, erected in 1967, at the time of construction was the tallest building in the world. Today Ostankino is the eighth in the world in this indicator: its height is 540 meters. Two viewing points are waiting for tourists here: the open one is located at an altitude of 340 meters and operates from May to October, while the glazed one, at an altitude of 337 meters, receives tourists at any time of the year. A high-speed elevator takes you to the site in a dizzying 7 seconds. The tour, in addition to panoramas, includes a visit to the television and radio broadcasting museum and a detailed guide story about the history of the television tower. Over the years, more than 10 million guests have admired panoramic views of Moscow from the tower; the excursion to Ostankino is still one of the most popular in Moscow, so it is better to book a ticket here in advance. If you want to go up to the TV tower with a child, you need to take into account that children under 7 years old are strictly prohibited from entering the observation deck, and visitors under 14 years old are allowed only accompanied by adults.

High-altitude rides also provide an excellent opportunity to admire the panorama of the "golden-domed". The most impressive of them is the Ferris Wheel at VDNH, with a diameter of 70 meters. A full wheel revolution takes 7 minutes, during this time you can enjoy a view of the updated All-Russian Exhibition Center, the Cosmos Hotel, the sculpture Worker and Collective Farm Girl, and the Ostankino TV Tower. The attraction works all year round, so you can ride it in cool weather - however, in this case, it is better to prefer a closed cabin. The cost of tickets is quite affordable: 300-350 rubles, depending on the configuration of the cabin. Before visiting the attraction, you can take binoculars, the rental of which will cost 100 rubles. Another Ferris wheel, operating year-round, is located in Sokolniki Park - it offers a picturesque view of the park itself and the surrounding area. The cost of the trip is almost half that: 150 rubles for adults and 120 rubles for children.

The best tables with stunning views of the city are located near the glass walls of the institution, but the restaurant is very popular, so sometimes there is not enough space at the window for everyone. Nevertheless, visiting Sixty is not only due to the panoramas of the city.

The chef of the restaurant, Carlo Grecu, is known to many as a true master of his craft and a specialist in true Italian cuisine. The interior of the institution organically combines irony, simplicity and brightness of the era of the 60s and modern style: it is both chic and cozy here. The average bill at the restaurant is quite high, but dinner in the clouds against the sunset is worth it.

The observation deck is equipped at an altitude of 200 m. It offers a breathtaking view of the northern and northwestern parts of the city, and the sights of the center of the capital are clearly visible.

The main minus is that, because it is an elite residential complex equipped with a checkpoint, it is almost impossible for an outsider to get here, only by meeting, or somehow agreeing with a concierge.

Hundreds and even thousands of people gather on it who do not suspect that literally a couple of hundred meters from them there is a place with an even more impressive view - the Museum of Geography of Moscow State University. This museum is located in one of the seven Stalinist skyscrapers, in the main building of Lomonosov Moscow State University. Not only that, the museum, which occupies the seven upper floors of the monumental building, is worthy of attention in itself, so it opens, according to the ministers, "the best view of the capital." By the way, do not rush to the highest floor available (31). And now every Muscovite and guest of the capital can enjoy a view of the city from its highest point.

4. Hotel "Ukraine"

Hotel "Ukraine". Photo: www.russianlook.com

The hotel is still operating in the main building, and one of the wings of the building is reserved for apartments. But to enjoy the view it is not necessary to rent a hotel room. Just visit one of the restaurants located on the upper floors of the hotel. The highest one is the Italian restaurant Buono. The standard procedure is as follows: we order a table near the window, we arrive, we order food and drinks to taste and enjoy the view. The price tag on the menu is certainly not the most modest, but the view from the restaurant is worth it.

5. Ferris wheel

In total, Moscow has 7 such popular attractions in our country as the Ferris wheel. But the most famous, of course, is the 73-meter giant located on the territory of VDNH. It still remains the highest of its kind attraction in the territory of the former Soviet Union and throughout Eastern Europe. From its height, a great view of all the surroundings. In recent years, it has become possible to use enclosed booths that are not blown by the wind. There will be more comfort, of course, with such a choice, but the real acuity of sensations can be obtained only on open seats. And the quality of the review will be much better in that case - neither glare nor scratches on the glasses will interfere.

The famous hotel, which immediately catches your eye when you exit the street from the Mayakovskaya metro station, is made in almost the same style as the Stalinist skyscrapers. It is an architectural monument and is protected by the state. True, unlike the famous skyscrapers, this hotel cannot boast of its size - only 15 floors. But from this hotel, thanks to the wide Garden Ring, which overlooks the horizon, one can observe simply stunning scenes of Moscow sunsets. The main thing is to have time to take a seat at the parapet table and order a tonic drink in the Time Out bar, located on the 12th and 13th floors of the hotel.

"Child's world". Photo: AiF / Eduard Kudryavitsky

Everyone knows this powerful corner building on the Lubyanka, Detsky Mir. True, in our days, having opened after a long reconstruction, the shopping center changed its name. Despite this, the building continues to attract thousands of Muscovites and guests of the capital, and not only with its shops. Many people come to the updated "Children's World" not at all for shopping. Immediately, a viewing platform appeared after the reconstruction, which offers an impressive view of the heart of the Russian capital.

The Ritz-Carlton Moscow Hotel. Photo: www.russianlook.com

Another Moscow building, which does not even remind of Soviet, but of pre-revolutionary times, is the 11-story Ritz-Carlton Hotel, located at the very beginning of Tverskaya Street. However, do not be fooled by the design of the building, because the construction of the hotel was completed only in 2007. Prior to this, a glass box of the Intourist Hotel stood in its place. Now, from the open veranda of the O2 Lounge restaurant, located almost on the roof of the hotel, the best view of the Moscow Kremlin and Red Square opens. Spending money on not the cheapest lunch in a restaurant is possible only for the sake of this kind. You have not seen such a heart of Moscow yet.
