History

Pre-revolutionary period

The development of railways in the second half of the XIX century. - the first half of the XX century.

In the late XIX - early XX centuries, the village was actively developing as a shopping center, the volume of goods received and sent by the station, as well as transit cargo, increased. Among the exported goods, a significant proportion was firewood (more than half of the total export volume), as well as meat, cheese, oats, and flaxseed; among those imported are flour, cereals and other food products, which came mainly from Rybinsk. In the 1900s, several hamlets arose in different parts of the village; brick factories of I.F. Popkov and I.I. Budilov, the Spasskaya Church, numerous trading shops and shops were built. In 1901, the first educational institution in the village was opened - a rural one-class parish school, which was maintained at the expense of the railway. In the first year, 38 children studied there - 22 boys and 16 girls from Savelino and eight villages closest to him. In 1909, the Spassky Church was built at the Sonkovo station with the participation of the Moscow-Vindava-Rybinsk Railway.

The steam locomotive E-766-44, which carried out military transportation during the Great Patriotic War and installed on the eternal parking at the Sonkovo station in 1995.

Soviet power was established in the village (as in the rest of the present Sonkovsky district) in 1918; however, in one of the publications only the Vasyan and Koisk volost councils created in January and April 1918 are mentioned, as well as the Sonkovsky village council, which "already existed in the autumn of 1918", in another - the exact (and somewhat earlier) date is indicated - January 10, 1918. By 1924, the economic and cultural influence of the village on the surrounding villages was administratively consolidated, the Sonkovsky volost, with its center in the village of Sonkovo, was allocated from the Konstantinovsky and Litvinovsky volosts, and in 1927 it received the status of a working village. In July 1929, the Sonkovsky District was formed as part of the Bezhetsky District of the Moscow Region, and the village became its administrative center. In the 1930s, a locomotive depot, a flax mill (), a machine and tractor station () were built in the village, an outpatient clinic and a railway club were opened. April 12, 1931 the first issue of the regional newspaper "Case of the October". In 1935, the Sonkovsky district became part of the newly formed Kalinin region (now the Tver region). In the 1930s, some residents of the village and workers of railway enterprises suffered from Stalinist repressions. So, in February 1937, on suspicion of "wrecking activities on the collapse of the Sonkovsky train depot", the head of the depot N. M. Ufimtsev and 3 more railwaymen were arrested; in December 1937 he was arrested, and in March 1938, on a fabricated charge, the engineer I.K. Verzhitsky was shot (rehabilitated posthumously in December 1959).

The infrastructure of the station consists of a locomotive farm (TD-54) - the Bologoe locomotive depot workshop (ТЧ-4), until 2000 the Sonkovo locomotive depot was independent (ТМ-16). The passenger infrastructure is made up of a wooden station, which is located in the northern part of the station (with access to the northern part of the village, to Lenin Avenue and Vokzalnaya Street); two low platforms (one lateral, the other island), as well as an elevated pedestrian crossing in the eastern neck of the station. The station also has a regional communication center No. 8, which provides communication support on the railway, 32 people work in it.

The movement of trains in the station is carried out in four directions:

 • in the north - to Red Hill - Pestovo (with a branch to Vesyegonsk);
 • in the western direction - to Bezhetsk - Bologoe;
 • in the east - to Rybinsk - Yaroslavl;
 • in a southerly direction - to Kashin - Savelovo.

The bulk of traffic at the station is made up of freight (freight) trains - at the station they are formed and reorganized, and locomotives are changed. According to data from July 2007, on average 24 pairs of trains pass through the station per day without reformation and another 5 with reformation.

Long-distance passenger trains connecting St. Petersburg with Ivanovo, Samara, Ufa, Yaroslavl pass through the station at different intervals (there is direct passenger communication with Kostroma, Orenburg, Penza, Uglich, Ufa and other cities with trailers). In Sonkovo, long-distance trains are at the station for 15 to 35 minutes, while changing locomotives and undergoing reformation.
