Which hotels in Jimbaran offer beautiful views? Where to go in Jimbaran and what to see

This place is perfect for a relaxing holiday away from the bustle of the big city, Jimbaran is often chosen for a beach holiday with children. Tourists are attracted by beautiful beaches, warm sea, exotic nature and a special atmosphere of serenity in this place. This village is ready to meet tourists all year round, for relaxing in 2019 there is everything you need.

From the history of the village

Jimbaran is a very ancient settlement, it is mentioned in historical chronicles of the 15th century. Most likely, it was founded around this time and expanded, having even acquired its own temple complex. Subsequently, the settlement was subjected to raids by the colonialists and came under the influence of the Netherlands. Being a village of poor fishermen, Jimbaran began to receive tourists from the beginning of the last century. Owing to military conflicts in the world and the country, for some time travelers forgot about this place, but since the 70s of the last century a new influx of tourists has begun in Jimbaran, which has not stopped until now.

Geographical Information

The settlement is located in the south of the island, on the isthmus, in the bay of the same name. Jimbaran is a village and the area around it. It is located near the large city of Denpasar.

Climate Jimbaran

The climate of the settlement is humid, tropical. To go on vacation to Jimbaran, it is not necessary to wait for the high season - the village is suitable for living and recreation year-round. The average air temperature reaches 30 degrees heat. Of course, there are climatic features: in the village, as on the whole island, the year is divided into two seasons - dry (March - October) and the rainy season (November - February). But in the rainy period, precipitation occurs, as a rule, at night, which does not interfere with rest. It is interesting that Russian-speaking travelers prefer the rainy season for relaxation (after all, basking in the sun when it snows in your native country is very pleasant), and locals sometimes call this time the “Russian season”.

Security in Jimbaran

Jimbaran is one of the safest resorts in Bali. The local population treats tourists well, it is friendly, travelers can even suggest and help something. Of course, there are certain safety rules that should not be neglected.

Here's what you need to know so that a vacation in Jimbaran is without incident:

  • to avoid pickpocketing, you should not carry valuables haphazardly - it is better to carry a convenient bag, for example, over your shoulder, which will be on the front of the body and properly fastened;
  • you should not carry all cash and all cards with you - there is a risk of being left without all the money at once;
  • relaxing on the beach, do not leave things unattended.

However, these rules must be observed anywhere in the world - because there is no place in which there is no risk at all. In general, the village is friendly and not dangerous for family vacations, it is suitable for those who are not experienced travelers and are waiting for full service and comfort.

Visa to Jimbaran for Russians

A visa, of course, is needed not in Jimbaran itself, but on the island of Bali. One of the features that attract tourists from Russia to an exotic island is the ease of crossing the border. The fact is that preliminary registration is not required - it is enough to fly to Bali and put a stamp in your passport right at the airport. Moreover, starting from the current year, registration is free of charge (in the event that a stay on the island does not exceed a month). It is only necessary to present a passport and a ticket, as well as to say that the trip has a tourist purpose only.

How to get to Jimbaran and how to get around the resort

The easiest way to get to Jimbaran is by air. More precisely, the flight will be to the nearest major city of Denpasar, where there is an international airport. It accepts direct flights from Russia and flights with transfers. You can take a taxi from Denpasar to Jimbaran - the cost will be approximately 60-80 thousand Indonesian rupees, which in translation into Russian money is about 300 rubles. Some Jimbaran resort hotels provide a free airport pick-up service directly to your hotel door.

Those traveling around the island of Bali can reach Jimbaran, for example, from Legian or Seminyak - a trip by car will take no more than half an hour. Public transport in Jimbaran is practically undeveloped, so the intercity bus will not work.

As for the movements inside the resort, both a taxi and a rented transport are suitable. Rent a car - from 3 thousand rupees (from 2,700 rubles), renting a scooter on average costs 650 rupees (580 rubles). The cost of gasoline is 33-34 rubles. And for those who love leisurely walks, Jimbaran will be a great place to relax due to its beautiful views and the convenience of walking.

Where to stay in Jimbaran

The hotel infrastructure of the village has developed very rapidly over the past decades. There are five-star hotels here, the cost of a room per night in which for one traveler will be about 20,000 rubles in high season or holidays, and many hotels of other price categories. According to travelers' estimates on booking sites, the mid-priced hotel is quite popular - Jimbaran Bay Beach Resort and Spa by Prabhu, the price of accommodation in which for a day will be about 5,000 rubles. For those who want to "be at home" and can afford it, there are luxurious villas.

As for small hotels (three stars and below), they can cost less than 1000 rubles per night, but at the same time be clean and safe. Please note that the price also depends on the time of year - booking for dates that are popular among tourists will cost more. In order to save money, or at least have a guarantee of future settlement, it is better to make a reservation at least a month before the trip.

Attractions, entertainment and cuisine

Jimbaran is an ideal place for a relaxing beach holiday, however, if tourists get tired of lying in the Balinese sun, you can diversify your vacation by visiting cultural and historical places. It should be noted that the atmosphere of Jimbaran itself is fascinating with how reverently the traditional atmosphere has been preserved: the resort does not seem typical, massive, it seems to have the preserved soul of the island of Bali. The color and local features are not on display for tourists, they are simply there.

Sights of Jimbaran

There are few historically significant places in Jimbaran. Among them is the Luhur Uluwat Temple, which is located on top of a cliff. This place is one of the nine temples of Bali, which, according to popular belief, protect the island from evil forces. But it is no less interesting for tourists. They like to visit the temple on the cliff in order to look at the magnificent view that opens to the sea. Many people like to watch from the cliff the fabulous sunsets that this place is famous for. The temple was founded in the 11th century, but received its present appearance only in the 16th century. The temple building is completely built of stone and decorated with elaborate carvings. The gates at the entrance to Luhur Uluwatu are the heads of eagles, and various figures of the deity of Ganesha are seated beneath them.

Another interesting feature of this place is the monkeys who live in the forest near the temple. They can be met at the gates, where they sometimes take things from inattentive tourists. Little inhabitants of the forest will appeal to both children and adults, but you should be careful with your sun glasses and equipment. Having taken off all that is valuable, you can approach the animal and feed it.

In order to get to Luhur Uluwatu, you must pay the entrance fee. Another important feature that you should be aware of is that visiting the temple is possible only in traditional clothes - the sarong, which can be obtained free of charge at the entrance. It is impossible to get to the temple by public transport - it is better to book an excursion, rent a taxi or car.

Also in the temple you can see the local ritual ceremonies that take place in the courtyard of the building. For tourists, a theatrical performance is sometimes arranged - a demonstration by fishermen of the traditional Kecak dance.

Guests at Jimbaran should definitely visit the Garuda Vishnu Kensana Private Park. This place is dedicated to the supreme deity Vishnu and his sledding bird Garuda. In mythology, Garuda is a half-man half-neck, in which the head, chest, body and legs to the knees look human, but the whole appearance is complemented by animal features: eagle wings, beak, paws and tail. The statue of the god Vishnu reaches a height of 23 meters. There is a park on the Bukit Peninsula, near the airport.

Where to go from Jimbaran

For those who have planned a long vacation, trips are also possible in the vicinity of Jimbaran. A huge advantage of this respectable resort is the convenience of location, namely, the proximity to Denpasar. Since it has already been mentioned that a taxi to Denpasar will cost an acceptable amount, you can visit this large city. Denpasar is the capital of Bali, there is the Bali Museum, which consists of several parts devoted to history, anthropology, ethnography. The museum displays exhibits, some dating from the 2nd century BC. Denpasar also has the Maospahit Temple and the Cultural Center, where you can also watch shows, from which you will learn more about the traditional culture of Bali. Everything is fine in Denpasar with transport connections, so you can go to other places already from this point.

Jimbaran beaches

And yet, the main thing they go to Jimbaran for is its beaches. They have a beautiful white-gold hue and are surrounded by rocky slopes. The beach line stretches for several kilometers along the coastal village, near the beaches there are cafes and restaurants with delicious marine cuisine. You can relax under the beach umbrellas on a comfortable deck chair, and on the soft sand under the hot sun. The beaches of Jimbaran are distinguished by the fact that there are practically no annoying merchants on them, and the ocean is calmer than in other parts of the island.

The beaches specially equipped for surfing are widely known. The most famous:

  • Binjin;
  • Balangan;
  • Suluban;
  • Padang Padang.

The water temperature and the beach itself allow you to relax in this place at any time of the year. The strip of the beach becomes larger or smaller, depending on the ebb / flow of the water.

Fun and activities in Jimbaran

Entertainment in Jimbaran is mainly related to marine recreation. Here you can learn windsurfing (the bay is known for its waves), go diving, go on a sea cruise by boat or go fishing in the open sea. Jimbaran is perfect for snorkelling enthusiasts: local waters are famous for the fact that many colorful fish of various colors swim between coral reefs.

For families with children, the nearby Waterbom Water Park is an excellent choice. It offers visitors a lot of water slides and attractions, both for the smallest and for large youth companies. A visit to the water park will cost about 1300 rubles. Nearby there is another entertainment center for active tourists: Jimbaran Hills Activity Valley, where you can try shooting, paintball, rock climbing and other outdoor activities.

There is practically no nightlife in the village, the specifics of the resort are aimed at lovers of a relaxing holiday.

Jimbaran Cuisine

There is no question where to eat in Jimbaran, as the village offers many options. Numerous restaurants are located along the entire line of the beach, their number exceeds 60. Often the establishments have open terraces with sea views, although the internal rooms are very cozy. And some establishments are located right on the sand - you can enjoy both food and a beautiful sunset.

The cuisine is mainly marine, it is a variety of dishes of fish and exotic seafood, there are dishes of chicken and rice with vegetables. Breakfast in a cafe for two costs from 170 rubles, lunch for two persons - from 300 rubles. In the restaurants of Jimbaran Beach, prices per kilogram of fish are 450 rubles, for other seafood (mussels, lobsters, squid) - from 500 to 2000 rubles.

Alcohol can only be bought at bars owned by hotels. In most cafes and restaurants, the menu includes only local beer. However, in some establishments there are “happy hours” - from five to seven in the evening alcoholic beverages are sold half as much.

For those who like to try something local and certainly unique, an unusual drink can be offered on the island: coffee and Luwak. This drink is known for two characteristics: the first is the most expensive coffee in the world, which, moreover, is highly appreciated by experts who describe it as caramel, the softest in the world. The second characteristic can be a little shocking: this coffee is produced in a very non-standard way. A small exotic animal called musang tastes fresh coffee berries, then they are digested in his body, and the drink itself is made from beans that leave the musanga body in a natural way.

Such an unusual drink can be repelled by most consumers, but if a traveler decides to try this coffee, a cup of the drink will cost no less than 700 rubles.

There is also a fish market in Jimbaran. First, he may push away with his smell, but, according to reviews, the fish sold there are really fresh and of different varieties. Prices are lower than in restaurants. Braziers are conveniently located near the market, on which for a fee (less than 70 rubles) you can immediately cook what you bought.

The time spent in the coastal village of Jimbaran can be called an idyllic vacation. A large number of beautiful beaches, a warm sea with a good bottom, sea activities - all this attracts thousands of lovers of a relaxing holiday every year, and the coming 2019 will not be an exception.

Young people, families with children and elderly people go to Jimbaran beach to relax. Compared to other Bali beaches such as Kuta and Legian, tourists find a relaxing holiday here. A 15-minute drive away from the airport and other noisier resorts, which indicates a good location. There is also a developed hotel infrastructure and extraordinary beauty of the sunsets.

Clean, long and calm - this is how you can characterize Jimbaran Beach. In length, it occupies about 4 kilometers of the southern part of the coast of Bali, and 30-50 meters of a comfortable width of the coastline. The beach is 5 kilometers from the airport, 10 kilometers from the center of Denpasar and 20 kilometers from Nusa Dua.

The southern part of the Jimbaran coast is framed by comfortable 4-star and 5-star hotels, on the 1st and 2nd lines. On this side you can find salvation from the heat in the shade of trees along the coast. The northern part is occupied by the fishing center and the famous fish market of Jimbaran. It is not customary to swim here due to the countless accumulation of boats polluting the water.

The average annual water temperature at the beach is 28 ° C, and the air temperature is 27-28 ° C. The water surface is rather unstable - from 16.00 strong ebbs are observed. Therefore, sunbeds are usually on the coast in 2 rows.

The beach is not isolated, as, for example, in Nusa Dua, so you can quench your curiosity and watch the life of local residents and fishermen . The sand on the shore is clean, dense, cream in color. The entrance to the sea is very gentle, which creates excellent conditions for a relaxing holiday with children. Moreover, due to its location in the bay, there are no high waves on the beach.

Another important advantage for many Jimbaran Beach is that there is no large concentration of annoying merchants. And in the morning and in the afternoon there are not so many vacationers. The bulk of visitors appears in the late afternoon, when cafes and restaurants open here. Everyone takes their place under the sun going beyond the horizon, because the sunset here is a truly bewitching performance.

Entertainment

It is believed that in a quiet and peaceful Jimbaran there are no opportunities for active entertainment. Everyone knows about the contemplation of a picturesque sunset and a visit to the fish market, and many think that this is the only possible pastime here.

In fact, on the beach and its environs there are many opportunities for outdoor activities.

Surfing

Sometimes on the Jimbaran beach you can see beginner surfers just trying themselves in this sport. The waves are small, this place is not suitable for professionals.

Important!  The waters of Jimbaran are home to many underwater inhabitants, including several species of sharks. But do not be afraid of them. They do not pose a threat to humans. Sharks here are very shy and usually do not swim close to the shore or to a person.

However, on the territory of Jimbaran there are still several beaches where there is a more gusty wind, and therefore higher waves. Surfers like to visit them:

  • Suluban;
  • Balangan;
  • Padang Padang;
  • Binjin.

There are 2 wonderful surf schools in Jimbaran that teach many types of water sports to those with different backgrounds: the Rip Curl School of Surf and the Balangan Wave Surf School.

At Balangan Wave Surf School, teachers conduct classes with students on one of the resort's best beaches - Balangan. Here are excellent conditions for surfing and a picturesque area: palm groves, white sand and very clear water. The foot of the ancient Uluwatu Temple is also popular for classes.

Rip Curl School of Surf teaches several types of water sports: bodyboarding, kitesurfing, surfing, wakeboarding. Her contacts can be found at the information desk at Intercontinental Resorts Bali.

Surfing is not only for adults, but also for children. True, special places are selected for them, with small waves.

Snorkeling and diving

Fans of snorkeling and diving have long chosen the beach of Jimbaran, because here under water there are incredibly beautiful reefs and exotic species of underwater inhabitants.

Other water activities

Like on any other beach, you can rent a boat or a small boat here to go on a coastal cruise or go fishing. In general, on this universal type of private transport, you can swim along the coast and look for a completely deserted corner of the beach. True, there is no infrastructure there, but absolute privacy will be ensured.

Spa centers

Salons with aromatic ointments, oils and a very relaxing massage can be found on almost any hotel in Jimbaran. But there are also freestanding spa centers that offer their services either directly in the salon or on the road. Some of them: Alam Jimbaran Spa, The Body Spa, Henna Spa.

Cafes and shops

If we talk about food, then many have the name Jimbaran associated with the fish market, which is located here in the northern part of the beach. This place is known throughout Bali for its incredible variety of seafood, their quantity and low prices. What is important is the freshest fish on the island.

Every early morning, before dawn, dozens of boats packed with fishermen set off for sea expanses to catch kilograms of seafood for breakfast for visitors to markets and coastal cafes. Those who know, strive to get on the market until 09.00, when they are only laid out on the shelves.

To enjoy fish dishes, you can look into any of the 40 cafes, a series of which stretched along the coast. The best establishments are located below the Four Seasons Hotel. To save the most on a delicious breakfast or lunch, you can buy fresh fish at the market and ask them to grill it in the same cafe. At a cost will come out 5 times cheaper.

There are also restaurants that are famous for their higher level of service. But prices for similar dishes will be much higher. The cost of one meal for two will be around 1800 rubles, including drinks. Steamed vegetables, rice and French fries are most often served as a side dish in restaurants.

With the onset of the evening, all cafes open further from the fish market along the shore. Chairs and tables are set closer to the water and the show begins. The sunset here is considered one of the most impressive. Both tourists and locals come to admire them.

Hotels

There are not as many hotels on Jimbaran as on other Bali beaches. But those located on the 1st line are mainly 5-star ones. On the 2nd line and further to the city there are more budget options.

here . You will be met at the airport with a sign. If the trip takes a tourist package, then a free shuttle bus will take you to the hotel located on Jimbaran Beach.

The most convenient means of transportation to move around the island are a rented motobike or car. For example, by car you can get here from Legian and Seminyak in 20 minutes. From Sanur, the road will have to spend a little more time.

Jimbaran Beach on the map

On this map, I noted the exact location of this beach.

Jimbaran is a beach for a calm and measured rest. However, water sports enthusiasts will find entertainment for themselves. Here are the best seafood on the island. The clear sea is delightfully framed by coastal cliffs, palm groves and a wide stretching beach strip. Why not heaven on earth ?!

Jimbaran, Bali - surf spot for big swell

When the big swell arrives, waves from 3 meters rise in Bali. And teaching surfing in Kut, Canggu and other surf spots is not easy. But our students can learn a new place for a gurney - Jimbaran, which “pumps” only in the big swell. Of course, Jimbaran with his whims, but if you accurately select the time, you can really enjoy surfing!

Jimbaran  - It is located in a closed bay and there are no waves during the usual swell. Expensive hotels are located here, and people usually bathe and sunbathe. Silence, relaxation ... But as soon as the swell strikes Bali with all its power, Jimbaran is waiting for us to visit.

This surf spot works on low water. Often divided into several peaks. You cannot select the main one. The waves are right and left, with good walls, but sometimes quickly fading away. Dangerous shore brake. The bottom is sandy, but small sharp stones and shells come across. Be careful.

Jimbaran is ideal for beginners, it is the next step after Kuta. Here are soft waves that can even be launched from the foam, as they gently crumble, and then form again into a new wave. Here you can practice repetitive turns in order to learn to constantly stay on the wave.

In the last three days, our surf team, headed by O Glory, Mitya and Lena, went with students to Jimbaran. We chose the best time for a gurney. We arrived at the spot with dawn and caught the first warm rays of the sun in the water. We were alone on the entire line-up - expanse! At first, the students were unusual, as the waves were blown away, the peak was shifted. But after the instructors' competent explanations, the guys began to catch the waves without help! Even the capricious Jimbaran can please if you know all its subtleties and features.

Before this city of Jimbaran became a popular resort, it was just a small fishing village, but today, it can rightfully be considered one of the best resorts on the island of Bali. It perfectly combines the tourist infrastructure and the relaxed atmosphere of a Balinese village.

Local beaches are considered one of the best on the island of Bali. On their territory there are restaurants and cafes, massage parlors, there are sun loungers and parasols that can be rented. Unlike some other beaches on the island, where the ability to swim is highly dependent on the ebb and flow of tides, there is always the opportunity to swim on Jimbaran beach, and there are almost no high waves here, which makes them suitable for a comfortable rest with young children.

The beach is also known for a good view of the sunset, although of course not as good as on Kuta beach, but good enough to fill the evening dinner on the ocean with romance.

Jimbaran hotels on a map with prices

The resort has several luxury hotels that provide guests with a wide range of services and excellent service, but there are also many budget hotels. The system in a few seconds will find the best deal among many companies providing reservation services.

Not far from the beach there is a beautiful coral reef, which attracts lovers of snorkeling and diving.

What to see

Like many years ago, daily in the mornings and evenings, many boats depart from this beach to fish, which you will then be offered to taste in the many fish restaurants located right on the beach. Some of them are so close to the water's edge that you can wet your feet. Jimbaran's fish restaurants are a major attraction in the area. They are so popular that many tourists come here from other resorts on the island specifically to enjoy delicious seafood dishes. Despite their great popularity, the cost of dinner is not so high, the average bill for two is about $ 30.

In addition, the beach is famous for its picturesque sunset landscapes, so in the high season after 17 hours it often becomes very crowded.

The sandy shore of Jimbaran begins almost immediately after the airport (south of it), from it you can clearly see the planes taking off and landing. In the south, the beach ends at the Four Seasons Resort Hotel, where the famous fish restaurants are located.

The total length of the beach is about 4 km, and the width reaches 70 meters.

The holiday season on Jimbaran Beach lasts a whole year. However, rest in the months from October to March, when the tropical rainy season is in full swing, on this coast will not be very convenient.
