How to get from which to the zabljak. Zabljak in Montenegro. Location and characteristics of the resort

100 years ago, Zabljak was a tiny trading town called Hanovi. (or "restaurants"). Only at the beginning of the XX century. he began to turn into a center of tourism. The first winter guests arrived at Durmitor in 1933, and in subsequent years all its peaks, one to its friends, were conquered. The Durmitor Hotel was the first shelter for climbers, but in 1940 the partisans took it to themselves, under a military hospital. During World War II, most of Zabljak was destroyed, so a significant proportion of modern urban development is not older than 60 years. By themselves, these buildings are not of great interest, but above the mountains in the middle of black pines there are mostly stone, very pretty houses with sharp thatched roofs that reach almost the ground - although even thatch is now gradually being replaced with roof tiles. Small wooden huts similar to tents are called Katuns here - in the summer months they are built on mountain pastures by shepherds who live in them with their families. In fact, this is the second house that is built where necessary.

In summer, the temperature in Zabljak is ideal for tourism: almost zero humidity, warm sun and fresh breeze. And in the winter there is guaranteed snow.

How to get to Zabljak

The Durmitor region was never distinguished by easy accessibility and partly due to this, it was able to maintain its charm. In summer, the roads here are in good condition, but in winter, it’s another matter. To compensate for the difficulties with winter arrivals, they are purposefully supporting low prices for winter sports.

The nearest train stations are in Mojkovac and Kolasin. (both on the Belgrade-Podgorica-Bar line). Taxi from both stations will cost a significant amount (in winter you will have to get almost two hours). There is a bus station in the city (5 minutes walk from the central square on the road to Shavnik, 087 261318)However, the flight schedule is not always convenient. Two flights depart daily from Podgorica here: one leaves early in the morning, and the other in the morning. Buses go through Niksic and Shavnik (8 euros, 3-4 hours). There are also occasional flights to Tivat, on the coast. (9 euros, 5 hours), and several more buses a day leave for Niksic and Shavnik. The best option is to rent a minibus in a fold (informally). During the winter months, delays are possible.

If you are coming by car, follow the main highway Belgrade-Podgorica, and turn west in Mojkovac.

You will not get lost in Zabljak if you examine it on foot. The locals are friendly and happy to help; streets rarely have names - more often you will only be shown a direction.

I would like to write briefly about interesting places around Zabljak, you will see some sights on foot, and something by car, bicycle or boat. This is the Durmitor Conservation Zone, probably the most popular national park in the country, and it’s worth going here not a gallop with a canyon bus tour, but a car to stay for a couple of days. You can rent a car, or buy a bus tour, it is better to travel agency Olimpus.me

By the way, this year there has been a sharp increase in tourists from Germany, as well as Israel and China. Residents of Russia, France, Slovenia, Poland remain traditional guests of the resort. Many hotels are booked until the end of September. And according to the reviews of Montenegrins, most people come to relax in the summer than winter for the sake of skiing ... There are many reasons for this - running away from the heat and stuffiness on the sea coast, rafting on the Tara, visiting lakes in the mountains of Durmitor, hiking, walking on bicycles.

This summer the cable car on the mountain Savin Cook, which is a 5-minute drive from the center of Zabljak, it began operating already on June 12, a month earlier than last year. The ride costs 7 euros for adults and 4 euros for children. Beginning at 10:00, the last call at 16:00. But I want to warn you that the last time they start from the top at 15:15, plan your time correctly!

The cable car consists of two parts, 1- 1,550 m long leads to a height of 1907 m. View of the cable car from the time of Yugoslavia, but it seems we are alive and healthy :) If you come to an idle cable car, learn from the experience of climbing on foot, there is also a road for an SUV to the top.

In the middle of the mountain, you sit on the 2nd part of the cable car with a length of 700 m, but with a very sharp rise, which leads to 2212 m.

If you are not a fan of walking a lot in the mountains, then you can see beautiful panoramas by approaching a car, for example, in a place Churevac   (Curevac). I wrote earlier.

If you look closely, you can see the flower tara River Canyon. And the picture is stunning from the top of Churevac, not like from the booth of Duzrjevic’s bridge ... And from Zabljak through the forest with an asphalt road it’s only 20 minutes drive.

On the way back, slow down in the forest to pick blueberries, strawberries, mushrooms

If you have a lot of time, then spend 1.5 hours going around the Black Lake, and in the drier months you can slightly shorten the path by reducing it on the isthmus between two water bodies - read. For those who are not the first in Durmitor, I advise you to take a walk from Black Lake to Snake lake  - This is exactly 1 hour's journey, there is a path, you can even drive cars near lazy tourists. By the way, not a single snake was noticed ...

In front of the Black Lake there is a huge information board with pointers where to go and what you can see ... All paths are marked, there are arrows on the stones, signs, the main thing is to be careful. And the map.me helps out, we saw that our path goes along the spring, so it was a good landmark, and on the way back we scored fresh water

Mountain lakes will give you relaxation for the eyes and soul, positive energy and pleasure. Therefore, if the vacation allows you to neglect a little sea - neglect! :)

The city itself Zabljak  does not enter the Durmitor reserve, but is located in its "heart", this city can be made as a base:
- 25 minutes drive to the Duzherdzhevich bridge, where you can fly on 3 Zip lines and rafting on the Tara River
- 2 hours drive to the village. Shchepan Pole, where the maximum rafting camps on the same Tara
- 48 peaks above 2000 m, the most famous with ready-made paths - Bobotov Kuk (), Prutash and the descent to Skrchko lake, Mevdev mountain, Crvena Greda and the rest
- 5 river canyons (and not just Tara)
- 18 mountain lakes
- more than 500 km of marked trails in the mountains and along the lakes - the coolest routes (in Serbian)
and much more...

And only the lazy did not write about the mountain ... If you travel by car, it’s a sin not to turn from Zabljak to the side Trsa or the village of Pisce  . You will meet sheep, horses, cows on the way, and on the tops you will see mountain goats, roe deer, foxes and God forbid the bear :)

Mountains are the best cure for stress

The Zabljak region borders on the Beer Nature Park, at an altitude of 1 km alpine meadows await you

and small villages, katuns for shepherds

There are interesting places on both sides of Zabljak - you can come by the canyons of the Moraca and Tara rivers and spend the night, and then go back to the sea through the Sedlo mountain pass and Piva Lake. Travel around Montenegro leisurely and with pleasure from its landscapes, because the main word here is “polako”!

Local mountain caves, of which there are about three hundred, deserve special attention, and despite the fact that many of them have not yet been explored. The most popular among tourists is the so-called ice cave, located at an altitude of more than two thousand meters above sea level and is considered one of the main attractions of Zabljak.
