What products to bring with you to goa. What to take to India (list of things). What to take when traveling with a child

I recently wrote, in the same article I promised to prepare a small memo for independent travelers, which should slightly facilitate the fees and accommodation in Goa. It is time to keep the promise.

I want to start with what is right to say in Goa, since it is a state, not an island, surprisingly, but not everyone knows this. Thus, I advise you to get rid of the grammatically incorrect "vacation in Goa" as soon as possible, and feel free to go to this curious area. The northern part of Goa, a very populated tourist area, with a lot of Russian-speaking tourists, wintering people, long steyers and businessmen. Local Indians (Goans) already understand Russian language quite well in markets, shops, cafes and the beach, so you should not worry too much. When you need it, they will understand you.

I met a lot of similar articles on the Internet, and they really turned out to be useful, unfortunately, many were written long ago and partially lost their relevance. However, trusting them, we rather “moved over”, so that they did no harm. On the other hand, I did not find a single complete manual, as a result I had to work with many sources, the information in which is also duplicated. Therefore, I will try to cover as much as possible the most important issues related to the trip to Goa, but at the same time I will write concisely on the case.

A general article on all the necessary aspects of leisure for a traveler going to India can also come in handy:

Packing our bags for India in Goa 2016

I want to start with what it is possible and desirable to prepare at home in order to lessen your long-awaited one and so:

  • Backpack.Or something similar, with which it will be convenient to ride a bike for shopping, to take things to the beach. Practical and useful in Goa, and throughout Asia, a contraption, if you prefer to travel on two-wheeled vehicles without a luggage carrier, it’s more convenient to carry your belongings in your hands
  • Copies of documents for a trip to Goa.Be sure to take a few copies from the civilian and, from a visa to India, a driver’s license, travel insurance, if you decide to buy it, electronic tickets. Carry one copy with you, including in, in case you lose your main baggage. You can take photos of these documents on a smartphone, at least with a driver’s license from the local police, it’s quite possible if you have an open category A (a motorcycle is drawn). By the way, we were advised simply in Photoshop to paint a motorcycle on the image of their rights, and the police in Goa say that the original is at home and we are afraid to lose it.
  • Travel insurance to India.Safety and health are paramount, so do not save on insurance. An insurance policy purchased on time will allow you to receive compensation for holidays that are damaged due to non-departure or loss of luggage, help to return the funds spent on treatment and will be stored as a real talisman. Before applying for an Indian visa, we took out insurance in case of refusal, because we had already bought tickets by that time. Therefore, I recommend not to save on security.
  • Photos.Most likely, after you will have photos left, so you can take them with you, do it separately - there isn’t much point. Since they were not useful to us, but the circumstances are different, they are needed to purchase a tourist SIM card, as well as some copies of documents, but this is easy to do, more about that later.
  • First aid kit on the road. FROMbring with you, with the main focus on antibacterial and digestive aids. If you are afraid of malaria, then a week before the trip and throughout the trip, as well as one to two weeks after, you can drink one tablet of doxycycline per day. This is a weak antibiotic that will not cause much harm to health (if you drink along with any probiotic), but it will help malaria bypass you. Although, when you travel to the GOA during the high season, you are unlikely to face this ailment. In any case, consult your doctor before taking antibiotics. In India, by the way, a lot of drugs are produced, the prices of which will pleasantly surprise you, so perhaps it’s not worth recruiting a lot from expensive Russia, but on the contrary it makes sense to think about.
  • Cosmetics and remedies. In general, all this can be bought on the spot, but in order to immediately run to the sea upon arrival, it makes sense to take a sunblock with protection of at least 25, well, and a small cosmetic bag, to make up in the evening. Although very soon imbued with the spirit of Goa, the need for all this will disappear. Cosmetics, again, in India are much cheaper, and the quality is on top, so do not fill your suitcase.
  • Insect repellent in Goa.You don’t need to take a large amount, since India has its own good funds, which, sometimes, work better than proven domestic ones, but can be purchased for the first time. However, a remedy for termites and ants will have to be bought on the spot almost immediately upon arrival.
  • Lantern.The road from the beach, and in many places in Goa, at least in the northern part, is dark and not lit, because in order to save feet, it is best to have a small LED flashlight and a supply of batteries or accumulators. In addition, illuminating your path, you can calmly miss each other with all sorts of unpleasant animals on which it is not advisable to attack.
  • A trifle on the road.Be sure to prepare a few dollars in small bills, they will come in handy both on an airplane, if you want to buy lunch during the flight, or when changing at the airport upon arrival, at a predatory rate, on the way to your vacation destination in Goa.
  • Padlock (Tipo Barn). The system of locking doors in India, at first a little struck, but it is easy to explain, because allows you to lock the house on your own lock, and the owners do not have to change keys after each vacationer. As the saying goes, both the sheep are full and the wolves are intact, well, or vice versa, there is someone who feels who is.
  • Missed Goa Products. Officially, the import of meat and dairy products, as well as cereals into India should be declared, but no one does this. But many tourists, especially winterers, bring delicacies: cheese, sausage, seeds, herring, caviar, buckwheat, chocolate, vermicelli - i.e. those products that cannot be found in the usual quality and at reasonable prices
  • Things and suitcases. Usually people come with empty bags, and take trunks home, including with clothes. So take the most necessary or very favorite, still buy a lot of things. If you grab a large empty suitcase, then there will be something to bring back the hotel. You can buy it on the spot — I recall the story of one of my comrades, how he traded in Goa for two spacious suitcases for two days — well, this is also an element of exoticism.
  • Women's clothing. India is a country of strict views; it is not customary to barely bend your legs and shoulders, so out of respect for a foreign culture, do not put on mini skirts, shorts and any tight-fitting underwear if you want a good attitude. Short clothes, unsafe for riding a bike in the heat and generally not practical. In Goa, of course, people are more accustomed to the sight of tourists, but if you are going to get to know the spirit of India, you should not irritate its inhabitants, they will certainly be silent, but at best they will put you in the category of women of easy virtue.
  • Other little things. Shampoos, oils, soap, gel, powder, etc. there is a large amount of local production here, natural and cheap, so a maximum is needed for the first day or two
  • Money in goa. The Indian Rupee has a relatively stable exchange rate against the dollar, because if there is no confidence in the sharp growth of the ruble or, on the contrary, there is concern for its further decline, it is better to immediately exchange dollars and go with a pre-calculated budget. By the way, the ruble traditionally grows in the spring, because we took a minimum supply of cash.
  • Plastic cards.This is the best replacement for grief in cash, a relatively safe and profitable means of storing money. The main thing is to set limits correctly, and have several cards of different banks and payment systems. The issue has its relevance in Goa, it is always relevant: with a stable ruble exchange rate (when was this?), Cash dollars are profitable, even with double conversion, but right now I have a better card. By the way, this and the previous paragraph can block all the rest, because with money it is very easy to relax lightly. On the other hand, I know a few examples where people in India managed with almost no money, then there is someone who is going for what.
  • Spare phone. If you come for the whole season, it makes sense to use a cheap old mobile phone, because due to humidity and sand, not every smartphone can survive in Goa for six months. In addition, do not shine unnecessarily with expensive equipment in front of poor Indians

Instead of ending

Perhaps the first part can be completed on this. I really hope that I have not forgotten something especially important and worthy of attention, in the last resort I will add. In addition, there is a place in the comments, not only for questions, but also for forgotten answers. I’ll supplement this article with the best advice from the comments or prepare a separate one if enough material is gathered. Using this memo, do not forget that in it I draw conclusions based on my own experience, including writing about what I myself forgot during the training camp and regretted upon arrival in Goa. I hope my mistakes will become a science for someone. In general, we pack our bags and take a bold step to India, and what awaits upon arrival, I will tell you in the near future I wish you success and good luck on your trips, maybe India will not scare you either, at least the prices are very pleasant, both for accommodation and for traveling, But, by the way, check it yourself.

Friends who have gathered for the first time in India often ask what things to bring with them. The country is rather exotic, truly unpredictable. We have been claiming some experience from our three-year experience :))), therefore, we undertook to compile this important list, which will affect the comfort of travelers throughout the trip.

Before asking about what to bring with you to Goa, you must immediately answer the counter question: "What to bring with you to heaven?" This is exactly the kind of question hippies asked themselves when they went here to a permanent place of life in the 60s. They did not take anything with themselves, only their dreams, songs and a sea of \u200b\u200blove. But we will really look at the world and still decide on the main things that need to be taken to Goa India on a trip.

Season and weather

Goa has its own weather conditions at each time period. For instance, perfect time to rest is the period from October to March. But many tourists here live year-round and do not experience any particular inconvenience. April to July in goa begins rain seasonwhen everything around is pouring heavy rain almost daily. Then it is worth stocking up with waterproof shoes, clothes and a large umbrella. And for example from August to October here begins heatwave and basically nothing to breathe. It becomes so stuffy that neither the sea, nor the shadow, nor the cold water will save. At this time of the year, it is better to go to the northern regions of India and wait until October. But we will talk about the most favorable stage of weather conditions - from October to March. It is during these months that millions of tourists plan their trips and are as satisfied as possible.

What to bring to Goa: the most necessary things

The first thing to do is make sure passport and plane ticketsas well as money. Should make all copies of documents and take it with you. As a rule, tickets are ordered via the Internet and it is imperative to print them out. At customs, they are asked to present ticket and hotel reservation. You can book any hotel, and then cancel it. Must have on hand visa to India- This is especially closely monitored by local authorities, as there are many cases with tourists who simply remained to live in India without registration and with expired documents.

It is worth changing rubles in your home country dollars or euros. Otherwise, it will be difficult to exchange them in Goa. It’s more profitable to have dollars on hand. They are more often used in everyday life and are more likely to change at exchange points.

I believe that these are the most necessary things, without which you are unlikely to get to another country. For me, this is enough to go to Goa, and nothing else is needed. And for you it will be relevant to stock up some more things.

Insurance to India

Better to take care of in advance health insurance and take her with you to Goa. It costs about 30 rubles a day and allows you to call a Russian-speaking doctor at the hotel who will provide assistance. You never know what can happen on the coast, it is better to insure yourself in every sense. This is especially true for those who ride a scooter, because conventional insurance does not cover such risks. We need an additional option "active rest" or "driving a motorbike", with which the cost immediately increases by 2 times. But it's worth it. Good insurance in India:

  • Consent with Assistance from AP Companies - the cheapest insurance of the good. Can buy on
  • Tripinsurance with own assistant - very reliable and expensive. You can buy on.
  • Allianz with Mondial Assistance - "middle ground" in price-quality. Can buy on
  • ERV with the assistance of Euro-Holding - good insurance for children. You can buy on.

First aid kit

For especially fastidious tourists and for those who have any health problems, you should take yours to Goa with you first-aid kit. For example, you can bring antiseptics, painkillers and prebiotics. In general, India is a country that produces the most natural and effective medicines in the world. They are based on ancient Ayurveda recipes. You can buy everything you need in the local pharmacy shop, as we usually do. But it is better to take care of your health in advance, which can also pump up when transferring to airplanes.

Other

Can be taken to goa credit cards. There are ATMs in Goa, and in some cafes and shops you can pay by card without a fee. And also need to take in Goa international driver license. You can rent a scooter without a license. The maximum fine for driving without documents is 500 rupees, if you go without a helmet, then 100 rupees. The fines are very affordable, compared, for example, with Thailand, where for parking in the wrong place you have to pay 1,500 baht, and for driving without a license 3,000 baht.

Helped me well english-Russian phrasebook. It is small and does not take up much space, but how effective it is. Still worth taking a guide to India in Russian. Although you can find all the information on the Internet. Paper cards help a lot. Of the applications, Google maps and Maps.me are best. Download them in advance to your phone.

What to take to Goa India: pack a backpack

Yes, yes, it’s a backpack, not a little suitcase with flowers. Why a backpack, because it is the most effective carry-on baggage. It’s easy to get on a plane with him, it’s easy to check in his luggage without worrying about whether the wheels will fall off. It is also easy to carry from place to place when you go on a trip to Goa and its environs. Who knows where dashing will take you? Maybe you end up in Bali.

India is the most unpredictable country in the world, having the features of a portal where tourists can travel, struck by the freedom and limitlessness of their actions. That is how they leave to live from society. It all starts with a backpack, of course. 🙂

What to take from clothes in Goa

So the backpack should be at least 60 liters. It is worth putting comfortable summer shoes, spare jeans, shorts, a T-shirt, socks, underwear, a swimsuit or swimming trunks, a hat, a sweater with a long sleeve or a sweatshirt (it’s very cool in the evenings, especially when riding a scooter). The rest can be bought at local shops for little money. For example, T-shirts cost 100-200 rupees, dresses 300-700 rupees.

What else

Must-Take in Goa means of communication, camera or camerasy as well as spare batteries and accumulators. Sunglasses come in handy, but it's better to take inexpensive ones or buy on the spot. There is a chance of losing them or breaking them. I often noticed that many travelers have a laptop. They work on it in free daytime, when the sun is baking and you do not want to go anywhere. And some communicate with loved ones on Skype. Each cafe has its own Wi-Fi, although the quality of the Internet is not always super. Therefore, we cannot work in Goa.

You can take a vacation in Goa in a backpack small flashlight. It will come in handy if renting somewhere on the outskirts. India has a different electrical appliance system and often requires an euro adapter. It is necessary to take it and still stock up on a tee, so that there are always enough sockets. You can also take a notebook and pen to Goa. It helps when inspiration comes and you want to pour your innermost thoughts on paper. And this happens everywhere, because Goa inspires creativity. You should take color photos 3 by 4 with you. They are useful when buying a local SIM card or the Internet. Many useful items can be bought at local supermarkets. Many of them are adapted and already have inscriptions in Russian.

What you should not take in Goa

Do not take expensive things to India in Goa. For example, you should remove all the gold jewelry or those that are of value. In addition, expensive phones and equipment are also better left at home. You should not take high-heeled shoes - there simply is nowhere to put on her. And do not really want to paint in the heat. Natural beauty is most attractive. Do not take a lot of clothes. She will only interfere.

Also do not take charges that take a long time to charge. Time is expensive and it is not known where you can be in half an hour. No need to take sun and insect repellent with you in Goa. Because they are in every stall, they are cheap and very effective. An inflatable pillow will not come in handy either. And huge books will be a burden on your stay. Moreover, many cafes have their own library of books left by tourists who are tired of carrying them with them on vacation.

Own experience, what to take on vacation in Goa

Having a one-way ticket, a backpack, a sleeping bag, a T-shirt and pants to change clothes and take off winter clothes, as well as a couple of thousand dollars, I went to an unknown India. In fact, things are sold there and you can buy shoes, glasses, hygiene items and everything you need for a penny. I even ordered a ticket back over the Internet at a local Internet cafe. And I can say that buying tickets from India is more profitable than from Russia. All winterers do just that.

First of all, I thought about where I would keep the money. After all, this is the main thing that has value in an unfamiliar country, after the passport of course. For security reasons, I recommend taking in Goa padlock. He insanely helps both to close hotel rooms and hang on old safes. From the side it may seem that it is strange to take a barn castle with you to Goa for a vacation. But this “accessory” helped me and kept safe all my things in the hotel room. As you know, the cleaning lady has the keys to the standard lock at the hotel, the reception can be crowded. I also recommend that you always close the windows so that no one comes to you. It sounds funny, but such cases are true.

How to start collecting things for a trip to India?

To begin with, you definitely need a backpack, of course you can have a suitcase with wheels, but if you plan to travel and move a lot in India, then a backpack is better. I take one more bag, which can easily be thrown over your shoulder, for what you might need when moving (documents, money, hygiene products, etc.) Count the volume and capacity of the backpack so that there is room for souvenirs that you will acquire in the course of moving around the country. During flights, you can safely carry up to 22 kilograms, if you certainly have the imagination to carry so many heavy loads.

To begin with, definitely not worth takingso that it would not be a pity to throw out along the way. No need to take with you everything that you take care of and are not ready to say goodbye if something happens (theft, breaking, loss.)
Clothing is better not to take in large quantities, only what is useful for the first time. At the first opportunity in India, and it is always available there, you can replenish your wardrobe very cheaply. Women - at home you can leave tops with bare shoulders and very tight-fitting T-shirts with a neckline. Skirts shorter than “below the knee” (except for Goa and Kerala resorts) will not be needed. For men - jeans alone will be enough, you still take them off and put them in a backpack, because in that climate it’s not comme il faut to wear them. It’s easier to buy cotton pants or shorts on the spot.

Another list of obviously unnecessary things in India

  • Food.
  • Crockery, iron mugs. The choice in India is huge and everything is cheap.
  • Books. Here you simply will not have time for this action. And if there is time, there will be no strength 🙂
  • Phrasebooks. The most useless thing does not help. all the more so because people in India do not speak English, but Hinglish (a mixture of Hindu and English) and you will need all the gesturing skills and the ability to feel and guess.
  • Large cans with wet wipes. India cannot be saved by this. You just have to accept this fact. Wet wipes can also be replenished there during the trip.
  • Socks. Yes, no matter how ridiculous it may sound, but in the south at any time, and in the center of the country (except for December and January), the thing will turn out to be as useless as you can imagine.
  • Sun protection cream. In India, you will find natural oils and creams that will be more beneficial to your skin than domestic ones.

Need to take with you to India

DOCUMENTS and MONEY

  • India passport. And you can take a regular passport and of course make and store it separately. In case of loss of a passport, having a copy can speed up getting a new one.
  • Air ticket or a photocopy of it.
  • Cash (US dollars or euros) or travel (travel) checks (Now very popular with tourists). Credit cards can come in handy when paying for tickets over the Internet, which is by the way much more convenient than buying at the box office or travel agencies on the spot. Money is better to change in Delhi, there is always a better rate than in other states.
  • 3x4 photos. Color photos are needed to buy a phone SIM card. it’s cheaper and more convenient to communicate with the motherland.

THINGS AND CLOTHES

  • Good shoesespecially if you go to the mountains and are going to visit the North of the country. Large sizes on very tall and large foot sizes are scarce.
  • Insect repellent. In many places there are mosquito nets, but it is better to play it safe.
  • Guide - the best - “Foot Print”, “Travel Guide”, “Lonely Planets”. Perhaps it will help, but maybe not. Usually in India, simple questions and random advice from local or same tourists help better.
  • Sunglasses.
  • Good knife.
  • Needle with thread.
  • Lantern, one of the important things. It gets dark in India in the winter already at 6 pm and sometimes you can get to places where there are power outages.
  • Sleeping bagif you are freezing and traveling promises to be cool. You are unlikely to find heating.
  • Large bed sheet (better old, so as not to drag back). Although I prefer to buy on the spot and throw it away at the end of the trip.
  • Light bag over the shoulder (beach) - put water, towel, fruits. A bottle of water is sometimes the most important thing when moving.
  • Small but reliable padlocks. In hotels you will be issued, but yours is more reliable.
  • Moisture proof covers for phones and cameras. In one of the trips, the touch screen of the mobile shorted out from moisture, so it turned out to be 1.5 months without a phone.

Almost any medicine is sold, medicine at a good level: Ayurvedic, Tibetan - for every taste. You are unlikely to find the usual medication. By the way, good quality condoms in India are much cheaper.

FIRST-AID KIT

  • iodine (cuts in dampness do not heal for a long time, iodine dries well)
  • coal
  • imodium (or another from diarrhea), something from intestinal infections (just in case)
  • patches
  • female tampons (for some reason you will not find them in the afternoon with fire), and pads are not a problem.

In addition, if you are taking any medications and there are chronic diseases, it is better to take double the amount of medication needed.

P.S. And finally, take acceptance, a smile for any occasion 🙂 And then India will give you everything you need at the first need.

India is a country of tropical climate, millennia-old traditions and strict laws that are mandatory for tourists to observe. A lot will depend on how you dress, what you carry with you, and how you behave, namely, the attitude of the local population towards the “next” tourist.

It’s better to pack your bag to India in a hurry. After receiving the long-awaited documents, it is worth checking the contents of the suitcases several times - not to take anything superfluous and especially valuable, but also not to forget that without which the rest in India will certainly be overshadowed.

Check out a rough list of what you need to take with you to India. This list is incomplete, and can be expanded by individual things.

clothing

When traveling to any place in India except Goa, it should be remembered that it is indecent for women to bare their shoulders or knees, wear too revealing or tight-fitting clothes, and look defiant. There are no such restrictions.

In the country it's better do not wear open shoesno matter how hot the weather is. In the Indian jungle there are a lot of dangers in the face of representatives of the local fauna - poisonous snakes and spiders are found even near densely populated villages.

To visit various entertainment and public places you can take high-heeled shoesHowever, wearing it constantly is not worth it - the legs will be too tired, which will greatly overshadow the rest.

First aid kit

Every tourist must have a first-aid kit - not only comfort depends on this, but also health after the trip. In addition to personal medicines that you need to take, the first-aid kit should include:

· Bandage, iodine, patch and other means for treating minor injuries;

· Medicines for stomach upsets (activated charcoal, Immodium, Linex, etc.);

Remedies for headache. Keep in mind that aspirin is not for sale;

· Simple painkillers;

· Remedies for conjunctivitis - ointment or drops;

Hygienic lipstick

· Means that relieve symptoms of the common cold;

Drops or ointment for nasal congestion;

· Personal hygiene products - in India it is difficult to buy, for example, women's pads or cotton wool;

What to take when traveling with a child?
