Those who heard “Quakers” live had the impression that the actions of unknown sound sources were quite conscious. “Quakers” appearing from nowhere, as if trying to make contact. It was as if they were circling around submarines, changing the tone of sounds, the frequency of signals, as if trying to invite submariners to talk, actively reacting to all hydroacoustic signals from the boats.
