If we talk about billionaire Paul Allen, then he refuses chic boat trips on super-yachts, and prefers a relaxing holiday in one of his luxurious homes. And this is not in vain, since Paul Allen owns not only an island in Washington and an estate in the coastal zone in Hawaii, but also a mansion on a hill on the Cote d'Azur called Villa Maryland.

cntraveler.com

At the same time, resting on this resort island off the coast of Florida can only 30 people, and, as a rule, they are familiar with each other. It is customary to reserve the island as a whole with large companies of people who have a lot of money and have no desire to be caught by ordinary mortals.

Medjumbe, Mozambique

neorizons-travel.com

For one of the most expensive and luxurious resorts there are too many rules. Firstly, you can’t wear shoes here: you hand them over on arrival and walk barefoot throughout the rest. Secondly, you can’t use a telephone here: there is no mobile communication or Internet on the island. In general, for your money you are forcibly forced to completely break out of that life, thanks to which you earned money to come here (and allowed yourself to be forced).

Palmilla, San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico

In addition to Russian billionaires, this resort is very popular with American billionaires. They are relatively close to fly to him, and on-site service is offered at the highest level and again complete anonymity. The hotel employees sign special non-disclosure agreements and, which is especially strange and arouses great respect, have never violated this agreement. The owners of the resort are very proud that not a single name of their guest in the entire history of the hotel has been leaked to the press. And the names there, apparently, are interesting.

Cotton House, Mustique Island, Lesser Antilles

fodors.com

The resort became popular after the English royal family fell in love with it in the 70s. Each self-respecting billionaire at first considered it his duty to rest at least once where the kings do it, but then it turned out that the kings did not choose this heavenly place for nothing, and the billionaires continued to come here voluntarily, even when the monarchs stopped doing it.

Mick Jagger and David Bowie are very fond of this resort and tell everyone about it. The island has 17 pools and 9 beaches, 6 of which are private and are attached to a specific room number. These beaches are specially planted with vegetation so that a person resting on it cannot be photographed even from the air.

The favorite place of world oligarchs and millionaires is the Cote d'Azur. Russian oligarchs here, as a rule, do not settle, but come for a weekend to relax in one of the many restaurants with borsch and caviar. A menu in Russian in Nice is a common thing. Renting a villa 10-20 km from the city costs 30-40 thousand euros per week, and for one modest dinner you can give about 10 thousand. European millionaires also like to stroll along the sunny French promenade, and then on Monday return to work in one of the cities. The average daily cost in Nice is 1,500 euros per person, not including tickets and additional joys.

Portofino, Porto Cervo

Portofino is a small fishing town with a population of only 520 people. A secluded resort on the Ligeria Riviera has more than once become the venue for parties and birthday celebrations of the rich. Prices for luxury real estate here exceed the mark of 20 million euros. As the locals like to joke: "Each of our windows costs one million euros." Dozens of luxury yachts moored at the marina also speak about the wealth of visiting guests. Oligarchs and world stars love Portofino for their delicious cuisine and perfect privacy from the eyes of strangers. Strict Italians will not let paparazzi enter the hotel, and another way to get there is to get through the sheer cliffs above blue waterwhich no one does risk. Many celebrities want to buy real estate in Portofino, but even having money for it, it’s not always possible to realize what you want. There are many candidates, and the area in Portofino is less and less every year. Last weekend, Sharon Stone and Sylvester Stallone were spotted there.

Monte Carlo, Monaco

In sunny Monte Carlo there are almost no large houses with plots, only apartment buildings that are not suitable for acquisition by world stars and millionaires. So they come here to rest in popular club   Jimmy "z or in concert hall Sporting Club. They say that you can find yourself there at the next table with Prince Albert. The minimum check in the VIP zone is 1000 euros, soft drinks 20-30 euros per serving, alcoholic drinks - 50 euros. Seven days in a three-star hotel will cost you about 1,500 euros, not including the costs of tickets and entertainment. Monte Carlo attracts wealthy gentlemen due to the absence of taxes and the presence of the most secure banking systems. As the locals say: "Monte is a sunny place for people who prefer shade." To get to the best restaurants and casinos, guests are selected for compliance with high principles of morality and honor. If you make a scandal in a public place, they will not let you go there anymore and will pass on to the rest of the owners of good establishments, which you should refuse to accommodate. So Margaret Thatcher's son, Mark, was at the center of such a trial for his inappropriate behavior. On average, a studio in the city center costs from $ 1.5 million, and a villa with a sea view - from $ 100 million. Therefore, Prince Albert plans to expand the territory of Monte Carlo at the expense of bulk islands like Dubai.

Saint-Tropez, France

You can talk about the clubs of Saint-Tropez indefinitely, their number is so great. One of the most popular is night club   Byblos, where after noisy parties explode no less noisy and bright fireworks. A villa in Saint-Tropez costs from 25 to 70 million dollars, and champagne does not fall in price below 300 euros per bottle. Recently, wealthy Russian oligarchs, who wished to remain anonymous, staged a Russian party "Moonshine-party" in the restaurant Le Verdouante. Guests were greeted by buffoons, appetizers with pickles and a welcome drink, strong home-made moonshine. The famous billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov once nonstop danced in the Papagayo club for almost 5 hours in a row. Together with him, 15 girls danced on the wide backs of the sofa, whom the oligarch doused with champagne. That night, Michael set a record by spending 260 bottles on models. Another club - Nikki Beach - a haven for Russian and Arab millionaires. Ksenia Sobchak and Ulyana Tseytlina like to spend time in this club. And in one of the most expensive hotels - Du Cap - Russian businessman Vladimir Potanin lived and worked for almost a month, interrupting outings on one of the most expensive yachts in the world - Kristina O, worth about $ 500 million. One hour on this yacht costs $ 2,000.

Saint Barthelemy, Caribbean

A small island in the Caribbean since its foundation was considered the island of millionaires. In 1957, David Rockefeller, the grandson of that Rockefeller himself, bought two plots on it. Following him, the Rothschilds and Fords reached the island. Now it’s not so easy to buy land on this island of serenity; permits are issued not to everyone who wants it, even with an impressive account. About 5 years can pass from the moment of purchase to the start of construction. In 2009, Roman Abramovich bought the very same two Rockefeller sites for almost $ 90 million. The island has very narrow roads, so here you can rarely meet wide Ferrari or Rolls Royces. Saint-Barthelemy is quite small in area, so the island has a small airport for the local maize, and the oligarchs leave their chic jets on neighboring island   Saint Martin. Also, the island has only a few equipped marinas, but they are also fully occupied by eminent ships. Boats and sailing boats of local residents stand on the high seas. In addition to the fact that it is difficult to buy real estate on the island, the local city hall has strict rules in the design of houses. Roofs can only be red, light green or brown, and the height is no more than a nearby palm. Therefore, the oligarchs prefer to come here for a complete secluded vacation.

Island Hotel Denise

Tired of close attention, world stars choose such distant places to relax where the average tourist cannot reach. One such place is Deniz Island Hotel. This island is only 1.8 km long, runway   - along the administrative buildings of the hotel. To get to Denise, you need to fly to Mahe Island, from there by private plane 15 minutes to the hotel. The island is ideal for families. Every morning, boats take fishermen to the ocean and return late in the evening. There are 50 inhabitants on the island, and all of them are hotel attendants. Denise offers 25 bungalows with a veranda overlooking the sea, private access to the beach and an outdoor bath. There are no locks and keys in the hotel - guests and workers are under control and strict inspection, there are no superfluous ones on Denise. To allow residents to feel the atmosphere of the island as much as possible, managers abandoned televisions and mobile communications. All interaction with the outside world takes place through staff.

Perhaps, many people indulged in dreams about where they would like to relax, if the money did not bother them at all. Would you go to a luxury ski resort? Have you been to a private island in the Caribbean? Or would you enjoy a vacation in Europe? For some, dreams come true: billionaires can afford anything they want. So where do they go? Here are six destinations that the rich have chosen for their holidays.

Richard Branson: British Virgin Islands

One of the islands of the archipelago personally belongs to Branson, where his vacation home is located. In addition, it is on the archipelago that he regularly spends time. Any billionaire wants privacy, so the Necker island becomes so suitable option. It is available for ordinary tourists, but the cost of five thousand dollars a night on the island prevents a wide range of people from getting there.
If you can still afford it, you will have a rest on the water, snorkeling, spa treatments, fine cuisine, yoga and tennis. If the price is too high, head to Tortola, an island nearby, where almost the same is available at a lower price.

Bill Gates: Croatia

This man became famous not only for his achievements, but also for philanthropy. He is not afraid to relax in modest conditions and go to where there are many tourists. Of course, he also rested on luxury yachts, but he also loves to stroll through the medieval towns of Croatia.
He loves the island of Hvar, which is popular with other celebrities. This island has a mild climate, wonderful beaches, ancient architecture, beautiful nature and a charming atmosphere.

Roman Abramovich: Saint-Barth

This oligarch often stops on a luxury yacht on the island of St. Barth, popular with the rich. One of the largest yachts in the world belongs to him personally, so he can visit with complete comfort paradise Island   in the Caribbean.
By the way, on one of the islands in the Caribbean, Abramovich has his own house. This destination attracts wealthy people, so you can find here the most luxurious hotels, designer shops and fine restaurants.

Steven Spielberg: Ireland

This director created the most legendary stories - probably impressing him is not so simple. Judging by the fact that he loves Ireland, this region is quite capable of conquering even the most demanding billionaires. Spielberg visited all over the country. He enjoyed music in pubs, ate fish and potatoes, and rode his bike.
According to him, such a vacation has changed his whole life. It is worth noting that the tour in Ireland is quite budgetary, so many can repeat the celebrity route.

Oprah Winfrey: Fiji

One of the most successful female billionaires prefers to relax on the island of Fiji.
Calm sea, tropical landscape, beautiful beaches   and exclusive hotels - this place is just perfect for the rich.

Warren Buffett: Laguna Beach

Warren Buffett lives in a modest house by the standards of billionaires in Omaha, but sometimes spends money on a great vacation.
For example, most often he goes to California, to the city of Laguna Beach. He went there before this direction became extremely popular.

How and where do the richest Russians relax?

As billionaire Tom Ford said, money loves silence. Big money does not like shocking, vivid incidents and dramatic adventures. The owners of billions control the information field around them and never go to rest where crowds of tourists walk along the beaches. Holders of huge bank accounts need privacy - or communication with their own kind. But still, here and there, the veil of secrecy over their world and way of life is ajar. “MK” tried to find out what kind of rest he was having.

The rich do not disdain to flaunt their boats. In the port of St. Tropez this is a whole evening show: music is playing on the decks, wine is pouring in, people are having fun and relaxing.

With the wife of one of the largest Moscow businessmen Marina we met in French Cote d'Azur. She began the story of her life with a famous song that the rich also cry.

Being an oligarch’s wife isn’t so sweet, she says. - Only here, abroad, I breathe calmly. I myself can drive, go shopping, calmly walk with children without the supervision of a guard and sit in cafes. In short, live an ordinary life.

Marina quite rightly believes that the true value of a family in Russia so far has been recognized only in a criminal environment. And the hunt for the relatives and friends of wealthy people is ongoing.

Once we lived in a room in a communal apartment, which I inherited from my aunt. I worked at a research institute, Andrei was spinning and spinning (Marina refuses to talk about what kind of business her husband is engaged in. - MK) The coolest time was from the mid-nineties to the beginning of the two thousandth. Andryusha began to make good money, we bought a car, an apartment, then we built a house. I remember how friends often visited, admired how we got up. But then, as our well-being grew, friends became fewer and gobbled up by envy.

Today, Marina’s husband’s condition is such that she goes out only with bodyguards, in their apartment there are armored glass and triple security. Children are taken to school in an armored jeep. She had practically no friends.

To the same wealthy families from our environment they throw grenades into the house, steal children. I live in constant fear. I beg my husband to move to live in Europe, where you can safely walk the streets. Twice a year we go on vacation here to Lazurka - and this is real happiness for me.

The French Riviera, and in particular the Principality of Monaco and its environs, has long established itself as a safe haven for the rich. The police in Monaco is one of the most efficient in the world. The "public security" forces in this mini-state have more than 300 police officers with special training, who have the most modern equipment and weapons. More than 200 private detectives are constantly on duty in Monte Carlo in the immediate vicinity of the casino. Guards are not particularly ceremonial. “We are the shooting police,” says the head of the local security department. The branch of the famous “Second Bureau” (French Security Police) is located in Monaco, in one of the villas of Rue Florentin. Every week, this bureau receives telegrams from the capitals of various countries, which contain requests for help in finding a criminal who, in all likelihood, has “entrenched” in the principality. However, few of these queries are executed.

There are many Russian oligarchs who have taken refuge here. Even more rich people from Russia gather here for a while summer holidays.

We all, Russian wives of wealthy husbands, know each other and communicate closely, ”says Sveta. To the envy of Marina, she lives on the Cote d'Azur. - Children go to the same school. What stories over the years of my life here have I not seen enough and not heard enough!

She met her future husband Volodya at the All-Russian student competition, which was organized by Potanin for a long time. Sveta was among the best - a beauty, an athlete, went to the red diploma. There she saw Vova. He looked after him very beautifully, heaped up the porch with flowers, and after defending her diploma, invited her to fly with him to France - to visit her mother.

Sveta recalls that when she ended up in Nice eight years ago, while still a simple girl from Elektrostal near Moscow, she simply lost her speech ability. The snow-white yacht, where her fiancé has lodged, is the best restaurants with exquisite dishes. Breakfast in Italy, lunch in St. Tropez, dinner in Monte Carlo.

I could not breathe from such magnificence. Of course, I knew that Vova was from a wealthy family, but I didn’t even think so!

Instead of a week of Light, she stayed here for good. She says that marrying an oligarch is half the battle. Saving a family is much more difficult. Especially here in Monaco, where there is a real hunt for rich men. So in vain the Moscow wives are envious - on the Cote d'Azur, it is also unlikely to be able to relax. Sveta, like Marina, lives in constant fear, but not for her life, but for her marriage.

I was so naive then, 10 years ago. I also believed in feelings, in fidelity. Here, on Lazurka, such professional predators flock that mother dear! They wrap everyone around so that he won’t even notice how he will be left without pants. Go to any casino, to any restaurant, take a look. There, every second is ready to stick a knife in your back and take your place. Somehow I even conducted an experiment, such as going to the toilet, and I stood and watched how many women would approach my husband. In five minutes, as many as three!

Not only women are hunted for the rich, but also men. Not gays, but special procurers who “add” a woman to the right person, and then begin to “milk” through her.

Do you think this story with Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva is random? - argues Light. - Yeah, how so! Have you ever seen a loving woman who, from the very first day of her life together, begins to collect incriminating evidence on her husband: record quarrels on the recorder, take pictures of some bruises ... She specifically did all this, at the direction of such hereinafters. And please, the result! How many millions did she sue him there? But most of them probably fell into it.

To teach Svetlana all the tricks of the wife of a rich man took the mother in law. She also explained to the young daughter-in-law that her husband should have sex every day (otherwise they would lead her away). Gourmet food should also be ready at any time of the day.

She also explained to me, Sveta recalls, that her husband’s infidelities should be treated calmly. And even condescending. The main thing is to ensure that relations with passion do not go too far. Disposable girls are ideal.

Sveta perfectly understands that her husband is cheating on her regularly.

Well, what if they have a bachelor party in a villa, someone orders girls, then mine, as a eunuch, should deflect? Of course, no man is capable of this. Naturally, I arrange scenes of jealousy - but without fanaticism, so as not to strain, it is rather for his pride. Rich men - they are so spoiled. All the time you need an eye and an eye. My girlfriend went out to his Chinese tutor. It turns out that she taught him not only language, but also body language ... I never leave anywhere for more than three days. I always accompany my husband on all trips and social events, I select staff for him ...

All Sveta's “unfortunate friends” live by the same principle. Therefore, they need a large staff of servants:

And you try to follow your husband, and keep yourself in shape, and even for the children, and at home! Of course, helpers are needed. My husband does not skimp on staff, thank God. But some familiar wives of foreign millionaires have problems with this. For example, Julia, her husband is English, very wealthy. So he doesn’t even allow her to invite the nanny for an hour a day! Barely, she persuaded him to be a cleaner once a week, as they have a large apartment. Imagine what a horror! He tells her: you are from Ukraine, I heard that all the women are economic there. Here she is borscht and he cooks every day.

Foreign millionaires are often famous for stinginess. American multimillionaire Paul Getty is a true legend in this regard. He was born into a wealthy family and did not shy away from luxury, but he always strictly followed the “billion” principle: moderation is rewarded handsomely. So, once Getty distinguished himself at a dog show - going up to the ticket office at ten to five, he noticed an ad that tickets cost cheaper from five o'clock, Getty forced companions to wait ten to fifteen minutes to save a couple of shillings on tickets. Another time, Getty invited a lady for dinner. And he asked her to stand with him at the entrance until he finished playing the orchestra inside so as not to pay for the music.

For Russian oligarchs such behavior was not noticed. Ask any waiter at prestigious resorts   - The most generous tip is left by our compatriots. Several years ago, in the Italian city of Forte dei Marmi, the local press was full of reports of unusually grateful customers from Moscow who, after drinking a bottle of wine, did not bother to pick up a change of 4200 euros. The owner of the establishment has been giving interviews to television channels for a long time ... Today, out of 7700 houses in this town, only 3200 belong to Italians. The remaining 4,500 were bought by foreigners, and mostly Russians, who do not skimp and take housing at sky-high prices. As a result, the cost of living increased, and many Aborigines were forced to move. Local authorities tried to preserve at least part of the houses so that Italians could buy them at normal market prices, but the efforts were in vain. Russians rent villas for the summer for 100 thousand euros and are ready to buy houses for 20 million.

They say that boys differ from men only in the value of their toys. However, contrary to popular belief, traveling on private jets, and even more so, having them is an impermissible luxury even for wealthy people.

Most often, the husband sends us on a regular flight, but in business class, says Marina. - We do not have our own plane; several times Andrei leased it. Sometimes he flies like this to business meetings when you need to impress partners. Still, the content of a business jet is an unreasonably expensive affair. And only super-rich people such as Abramovich can afford it. Yes, and as far as I know, he prefers to travel around Europe on his Eclipse boat (the most expensive yacht in the world, 167 meters, is equipped even with air defense and a submarine. - MK), not on an airplane.

All experts unanimously argue that the acquisition of a personal plane will never pay off. After all, a winged car is not a car that can be kept in a garage and used only on weekends. The cost is hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars (for example, Yak-42 by Vagit Alekperov, one of the co-owners of LUKOIL, is estimated at $ 18 million). Maintenance - 4500-5000 thousand dollars a year (rental space, staff salaries, etc.). Plus, every hour of the flight - 3000-3500 cu In a word, to fly comfortably from point A to point B, it will be cheaper to rent a charter.

So the plane is more of a hobby than a real need.

But yachts are a completely different matter. To have at least a small, but own boat in the Mediterranean Sea is just by itself.

Still, this is not the plane on which it flew and flew, - says Marina. - On a yacht you can live comfortably and travel for a long time.

How much does a small boat trip with the family cost? It all depends on the imagination and numbers in the bank account. For example, renting a more or less decent yacht costs from 40 to 140 thousand euros per week. Plus gasoline - boats move exclusively on the 98th at a price of 1.5 euros and “eat” in the most modest version an average of about 500 liters per hour. To make it clear: if you suddenly felt the urge to dine at the famous beach restaurant Club 55 in St. Tropez, then on the way there from Nice and back

(2 hours one way) will have to spend about 7 thousand euros on a small 27-meter ship. If you decide to stay in the port - another 1000 euros per night. Plus the salary of the captain, assistant, etc. When I voiced these figures to Marina, she was very surprised:

Well then! I never thought it was so expensive. But, on the other hand, vacation is only twice a year, why not boo? Moreover, in St. Tropez they prepare magnificent marine reptiles ...

At the famous restaurant, which is located on Pampelonne Beach, an impressive parade of marine "liners" gathers at lunchtime. They are literally like buoys, for which it is impossible to swim, close the horizon. A curious audience gathers around and watches the venerable audience arrive for lunch. Here you have Hollywood stars and rich people of different stripes with ladies dressed to the nines according to the latest beach fashion. A twenty-meter pier turns into a red carpet every day.

Curious and sometimes funny things happen to Russian yachtsmen sad stories. Well, the most anticipated, perhaps, is about how the yachts get drunk and drown. However, Olivier, an officer in the maritime police department, says this is a rarity. But everything happens: for example, last year, in the region of the fashionable Cap Ferrat peninsula near Monaco, a 36-meter white beauty went under water. Just the captain of the ship, he is the owner, left and left her not at the port, but near the coast. At anchor. There was a leak, so I got water where it should not be.

Under French law, such a grief captain faces a huge fine. Or maybe a real term, says Olivier. “I know that in Italy (and that violator was from there), as in Russia, it is not at all difficult to acquire a boatmaster’s rights, having the necessary connections and a sufficient amount.”

But which of us thinks about amounts when it comes to pleasure!

A simple resident of Mozhaisk, Antonina Nikolaevna, found out how a yacht is sinking. She, a kindergarten teacher with experience, got a job with a new Russian nanny.

A family with three children - a girl of 9, a boy of 5 and a very little one was then a year old, I have been nursing him since birth - took me with me on vacation to the United Arab Emirates, on a yacht cruise.

The vessel, recalls Antonina Nikolaevna, was luxurious. Huge, richly decorated, with a waiter. Parents sunbathed all the time, and behind the kids' eyes and eyes. Togo and look will fall overboard. By the end of the second week of rest, Antonina was already exhausted. And on the last day the hosts released the whole team, paid off. And finally, they decided to ride a jet ski together.

We are said to be half an hour, ”the nanny recalls. - An hour they are not, two, five. Already evening has come. The plane flew away without us. I’m in a panic - they don’t receive a phone call or a greeting, although the phones seemed to be with me. Well, I somehow control myself so as not to scare the children. The next morning they did not return either. What to do? I don’t know English to go to the police, and indeed for the first time abroad, one with three children on a yacht. Where the documents are located - passports and stuff, are also not up to date. I went to the port because I heard from the hostess that a Russian captain was working on some ship. I found him for dinner, explained everything. He said he would contact anyone.

The hosts did not show up at the end of the third day. And the yacht slowly began to sink.

This I did not immediately notice. I get up in the morning, look, the water is very close to the window. But my Russian captain was not in the port. Well, I grabbed the children, things, suitcases - and ashore. I think we’ll be homeless here. The money that I had had was already over by that time. We were eating the rest ... Thank God, that Russian arrived in the evening of the same day. Helped deal with the yacht.

Somehow he illegally connected us to electricity there and drained the water slowly at night (in the port you cannot do this). And my owners returned only a week later. It turns out that they swam too far and thereby violated the border. They were caught and imprisoned until their identity was ascertained. They arrived so pleased, they all told how fun it was in this prison - there, they say, carpets and delicious tea. And for the children, as it turned out, they didn’t worry at all: “We knew, Antonina Nikolaevna, that the children are with you and everything will be all right.” I turned gray over this week. As soon as they returned to Moscow, she immediately quit, even though they offered me to double their salary.

Taking a babysitter with you is a common thing. Unpretentious and obedient Filipina are still in demand. Many owners, by the way, try to dress them up in fashion, yet the nannies go with them to restaurants and clubs. However, oriental women, who are categorically against tanning, stubbornly refuse to wear sundresses on the straps, short shorts and clogs.

Some men manage to carry with them lovers.

I have a friend Kristina, says Sveta. “She and her husband and children gathered in the Maldives one winter.” Her missus both arrived there, and immediately declared that he would dive every day. He left at 10 in the morning and returned in the evening. And then their nanny noticed him in the next house with two girls. It turns out that he brought them there from Moscow. Here you have a family vacation. And such stories are not uncommon.

Where else are millionaires resting

Antigua Island (Caribbean) is a luxury place with a reputation. A lot of millionaires got their summer cottages here. The list of owners of mansions on the island includes Giorgio Armani, Timothy Dalton, Sir Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey and Eric Clapton, who even has his own rehabilitation center for drug treatment on the island.
