On the territory of Kamenets-Podolsky, which is located on the territory of Ukraine, there are absolutely amazing sights that you can come and see with pleasure. One of them is an old fortress, built on top of a cliff. If you have never been there and do not have the opportunity to visit this place, you can enjoy the beauty via a webcam installed nearby. The access road is a road bridge; from the real-time image supplied around the clock, you can even see the landscape of the area, including the cliff itself. There is a sidewalk along the road and lamps are installed, but despite so many light sources, they are not enough to see the area in detail after sunset. It can be seen that the flow of cars and tourists does not dry out throughout the day, which is not surprising; there are not many fortresses on the planet that have retained their integrity. It is impossible not to feel the atmosphere of the Middle Ages when approaching this place; around the fortress there are fields that are still cultivated by local residents.

One of the oldest places in the city of Kamyanets-Podolsky is a fortress, first mentioned in 1374 in a charter from Prince Yuri Koriatovich (one of the four Koriatovich brothers who owned Podolia). At that time, the towers and walls were already stone and partly wooden. The fortress was located at the entrance to the city, to which a narrow 9-meter isthmus led, and was its reliable defense (the city was located in a loop of the Smotrich River). It was under the Koriatovichi that the city became the capital of the region (and the appanage principality), and the fortress became a strategic defense point
In the 15th century the region was captured by the Poles. The Polish princes Buchatsky lured the Lithuanian governor Dovgerd into negotiations and, having captured him, seized the Kamenets fortress and control over the city. Later they sold it to the king, and Kamenets-Podolsky became the center of the voivodeship, an important border outpost for the defense of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, “the extreme bastion of Christianity.” According to the 1492 inventory, the castle consisted of towers and stone walls with two gates to the south and north. The courtyard adjacent to the castle was surrounded by a wooden wall with “cages” arranged in it. In the middle of the 16th century. All wooden fortifications of the fortress, under the leadership of the architect Job Breitfus, were replaced with stone ones. Since that time the castle has acquired its own modern look. The fortress is an elongated polygon. It is surrounded by high walls with towers at each corner. To the left of the eastern gate is the Papal Tower, behind it is the Kolpak, Tetchin Tower, Lyatskaya Tower, Day Tower, New Western Tower, Small Western Tower, Rozhanka, Commandant's Tower, Lyantskoronskaya Tower, Black Tower (foundation), New Eastern. Near the river there is the Vodnaya Tower.
In 1672, the city of Kamenets-Podolsky was captured by the Turkish army. Since then, the castle bridge began to be called “Turkish”. At the end of the 17th century, the castle returned to Poland, and a little later, during the division of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, it went to Russian Empire. In the 19th century, Kamenets-Podolsky Castle lost its military significance. In 1928, the fortress became a republican reserve, and in 1937 a museum-reserve was organized in it. On this moment Together with the cathedral church and the city hall, it is one of the main attractions of the city.
