Experienced travelers are convinced that traveling does not require a lot of money. There is enough desire to wander and the ability to search for information.

website summarized advice from travel bloggers, which will allow you to see the world at minimal cost. At the end of the article you will find a bonus in the form of useful information for each tourist. And may you have more trips in the near future!

11. Travel on your own

Traveling on your own, and not through travel agencies, is both more profitable and interesting. Yes, the responsibility for any problems will rest solely with you. But travel agencies have little to decide in such cases, preferring to blame the airline, force majeure, the host country and the like.

4. Rent your own accommodation while traveling or go on an “exchange vacation”

An exchange vacation is an opportunity to stay for free on a trip, and maybe even a chance, like the heroes of a film, to meet their love.

2. Do not buy what you can get for free

 • Wifi. When booking accommodation, immediately choose an apartment or hotel with free Wi-Fi. During the day, use free Wi-Fi in restaurants and cafes, at gas stations and in shopping centers.
 • Terrain Maps. Free cards are available at counters in many hotels, apartments and hostels. The card can also be obtained at the tourist information office. As a rule, they are located in the city center or near the main attractions. In advance, download electronic city maps and a guide to your phone.
 • Water. In Europe, you can drink tap water everywhere. In many cities, drinking fountains are installed, and you can safely drink from them. To check, you can look at

The great Russian travelers, whose list is quite large, pushed the development of maritime trade, and also raised the prestige of their country. The scientific community learned more and more information not only about geography, but also about the animal and plant world, and most importantly - about people who lived in other parts of the world and their customs. Let us follow in the footsteps of the great Russian travelers their geographical discoveries.

Fedor Filippovich Konyukhov

The great Russian traveler Fedor Konyukhov is not only a famous adventurer, but also an artist, honored master of sports. He was born in 1951. From childhood, he could do what would have been quite difficult for his peers - swimming in cold water. He could easily sleep in the hayloft. Fedor was in good physical shape and could run long distances - several tens of kilometers. At age 15, he managed to cross the Sea of Azov, using a rowing fishing boat. Significantly influenced Fedor and his grandfather, who wanted the young man to become a traveler, but the boy himself strove for this. Great Russian travelers often began to prepare in advance for their trips and sea wanderings.

Discoveries Konyukhov

Fedor Filippovich Konyukhov participated in 40 trips, repeated the Bering route on a yacht, and also sailed from Vladivostok to the Komandorski Islands, went to Sakhalin and Kamchatka. At the age of 58, he conquered Everest, as well as the 7 highest peaks in a team with other climbers. He visited both the North and the South Poles, on his account 4 round-the-world sea voyages, the Atlantic crossed them 15 times. Fedor Filippovich displayed his impressions by drawing. Thus he painted 3 thousand paintings. The great geographical discoveries of Russian travelers were often reflected in their own literature, and Fyodor Konyukhov left behind 9 books.

Athanasius Nikitin

The great Russian traveler Afanasy Nikitin (Nikitin is the middle name of the merchant, because his father was called Nikita) lived in the 15th century, and the year of his birth is unknown. He proved that even a person from a poor family can travel so far, the main thing is to set a goal. He was an experienced merchant who before India traveled to Crimea, Constantinople, Lithuania and the Principality of Moldova and brought overseas goods to his homeland.

He himself was from Tver. Russian merchants went to Asia to establish ties with local merchants. They themselves drove there, mainly furs. By the will of fate Athanasius ended up in India, where he lived for three years. Upon returning to his homeland, he was robbed and killed near Smolensk. The great Russian travelers and their discoveries will forever remain in history, because for the sake of progress, brave and brave lovers of wanderings often died in dangerous and lengthy expeditions.

Discoveries of Athanasius Nikitin

Athanasius Nikitin was the first Russian traveler to visit India and Persia, on the way back he visited Turkey and Somalia. During his wanderings, he took notes “Walking Over Three Seas,” which later became a tool for studying the culture and customs of other countries. In particular, medieval India is well outlined in his notes. He crossed the Volga, the Arabian and Caspian Seas, and the Black Sea. When merchants were robbed by the Tatars near Astrakhan, he did not want to return home with everyone and get into a debt hole, but continued his journey, heading to Derbent, then to Baku.

Nikolai Nikolaevich Miklouho-Maclay

Miklouho-Maclay comes from a noble family, but after the death of his father he had to find out what it means to live in poverty. He had the nature of a rebel - at the age of 15 he was arrested for participating in the demonstration of students. Because of this, he was not only arrested in the Peter and Paul Fortress, where he stayed for three days, but was also expelled from the gymnasium with a further ban on admission - so he lost the opportunity to get higher education in Russia, which he subsequently did only in Germany.

A well-known natural scientist, drew attention to an inquisitive 19-year-old youth and invited Miklouho-Maclay to an expedition, the purpose of which was to study marine fauna. Nikolai Nikolayevich died at the age of 42, while his diagnosis was "severe deterioration of the body." He, like many other great Russian travelers, sacrificed a significant part of his life in the name of new discoveries.

Discoveries of Miklouho-Maclay

In 1869, Miklouho-Maclay, with the support of the Russian Geographical Society, left for New Guinea. The shore where he landed is now called the Maclay Coast. After spending more than a year on the expedition, he discovered new lands. Natives learned from a Russian traveler how to grow pumpkin, corn, beans, and how to care for fruit trees. He spent 3 years in Australia, visited Indonesia, the Philippines, the islands of Melanesia and Micronesia. He also persuaded local residents not to impede anthropological research. For 17 years of his life, he studied the indigenous population of the islands of the Pacific Ocean, Southeast Asia. Thanks to Miklouho-Maclay, the assumption that the Papuans are another kind of person was refuted. As you can see, the great Russian travelers and their discoveries allowed the rest of the world not only to learn more about geographical research, but also about other people living in new territories.

Nikolai Mikhailovich Przhevalsky

Przhevalsky was favored by the emperor’s family, at the end of his first trip he had the honor of meeting Alexander II, who transferred his collections to the Russian Academy of Sciences. His son Nikolai really liked the works of Nikolai Mikhailovich, and he wanted to be his student, he also contributed to the publication of stories about the 4th expedition, granted 25 thousand rubles. Cesarevich was always looking forward to letters from the traveler and was glad of even a short news about the expedition.

As you can see, even during his life, Przhevalsky became a rather famous person, and his works and deeds received great publicity. However, as sometimes happens when the great Russian travelers and their discoveries become famous, many details from life, as well as the circumstances of his death, are still shrouded in mystery. Nikolai Mikhailovich did not have descendants, because having understood in advance what fate awaited him, he would not have allowed himself to doom his beloved person to constant expectations and loneliness.

Discoveries of Przhevalsky

Thanks to Przhevalsky’s expeditions, Russian scientific prestige received a new impetus. During 4 expeditions, the traveler traveled about 30 thousand kilometers; he traveled to Central and Western Asia, on the territory of the Tibet Plateau and the southern part of the Takla-Makan desert. He discovered many ranges (Moscow, Mysterious, etc.), described the largest rivers in Asia.

Many have heard about (a subspecies but few know about the richest zoological collection of mammals, birds, amphibians and fish, a large number of records about plants and herbarium collections. In addition to the animal and plant world, as well as new geographical discoveries, the great Russian traveler Przhevalsky was interested in unknown for Europeans by the Dungans, Northern Tibetans, Tanguts, Maginets, Lobnors. He created the work "How to Travel in Central Asia", which could serve as an excellent guide for researchers and military men The great Russian travelers, making discoveries, always provided knowledge for the development of sciences and the successful organization of new expeditions.

Ivan Fedorovich Kruzenshtern

Russian navigator was born in 1770. He happened to become the head of the first round-the-world expedition from Russia, he is also one of the founders of Russian oceanology, admiral, corresponding member and honorary member of the Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg. The great Russian traveler Kruzenshtern also took an active part when the Russian Geographical Society was created. In 1811, he happened to teach at the Naval Cadet Corps. Subsequently, becoming a director, he organized the highest officer class. This academy then became a naval academy.

In 1812, he allocated 1/3 of his fortune for the militia (the outbreak of World War II). Until that time, three volumes of the books Traveling Around the World were published, which were translated into seven European languages. In 1813, Ivan Fedorovich was included in the English, Danish, German and French scientific communities and academies. However, after 2 years he goes on indefinite leave due to a developing eye disease, and the situation was complicated by a difficult relationship with the Minister of the Sea. Many famous sailors and travelers turned to Ivan Fedorovich for advice and support.

Kruzenshtern's discoveries

For 3 years he was the head of the Russian expedition around the world on the ships Neva and Nadezhda. During the voyage, the mouths of the Amur River were to be explored. For the first time in history, the Russian fleet crossed the equator. Thanks to this trip and to Ivan Fedorovich, the eastern, northern and north-western shores of the Sakhalin island appeared on the map for the first time. Also, by virtue of his labors, you will see the light of the Atlas of the South Sea, supplemented by hydrographic notes. Thanks to the expedition, nonexistent islands were erased from the maps; the exact position of other georgaphic points was determined. Russian science learned about the Passat countercurrents in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, measured water temperatures (depths of up to 400 m), determined its specific gravity, color and transparency. Finally, the reason why the sea was shining became clear. Also, data appeared on atmospheric pressure, ebbs and flows in many areas of the oceans, which were used by other great Russian travelers on their expeditions.

Semen Ivanovich Dezhnev

The great traveler was born in 1605. Sailor, explorer and merchant, he was also a Cossack chieftain. He was from Veliky Ustyug, and then moved to Siberia. Semyon Ivanovich was known for his diplomatic talent, courage and ability to organize and lead people. Geographical points (cape, bay, island, village, peninsula), award, icebreaker, passage, streets, etc. bear his name.

Discoveries Dezhnev

Semen Ivanovich 80 years before Bering passed the strait (called Bering) between Alaska and Chukotka (completely, while Bering passed only part). He and his team opened the sea route around the north-eastern part of Asia, reached Kamchatka. Nobody before that knew about that part of the world where America almost converged with Asia. Dezhnev passed the Arctic Ocean, bypassing the northern coast of Asia. He mapped the strait between the American and Asian shores, and also After the shipwrecked ship, his squad, having only skis and sledges, traveled 10 weeks to (while losing 13 people out of 25). There is an assumption that the first settlers in Alaska became part of the team Dezhnev, separated from the expedition.

Thus, following the traces of the great Russian travelers, one can see how the scientific community of Russia developed and rose, enriched knowledge of the outside world, which gave a huge impetus to the development of other industries.

The average duration of tourist trips in the world has decreased and is now eight nights. The cost of one trip is on average $ 1,793. However, Russians prefer to stretch their pleasure and travel on average ten days.

Visa presented the next global study of tourist preferences, Visa Global Travel Intentions Study, based on the results of 2017. The study analyzed international trends in travel and preferences of more than 15 thousand people from 27 countries.

Main conclusions:

 • Trips are getting shorter - an average of eight nights, which is two days less than in 2013.
 • More often, only one country is visited per trip.
 • In travels, technologies are increasingly being used (the Internet, navigators, mobile maps, travel companions, etc.).

The list of the most visited countries at the end of 2017 was headed by Japan, the USA and Australia. Japan has become a leader due to its popularity among tourists from the Asia-Pacific region. Residents of this region love to travel and there are more of them than in other regions of the world. Therefore, these preferences determined the leader of the rating.

The study also revealed what is important for tourists from different regions. For example, Europeans want to get rich culturally and hope for good weather. Americans need outdoor activities and cultural events. For tourists from the Asia-Pacific region, it is important that the vacation spot is easy to reach and that it is familiar. Representatives of the Middle East and Africa are interested in outdoor activities and are concerned about the budget of the trip.

On average, tourists spend $ 1,793 per trip for one person, and most take with them $ 778 in cash.

Most of all, tourists travel from Saudi Arabia ($ 5,333), Kuwait ($ 3,143), China ($ 2,988), Australia ($ 2,745) and the UAE ($ 2,722).

The preferences of the Russians participating in the study are significantly different from the world averages. So, they travel 4.3 times a year (world average 2.5 trips per year). The average duration of a trip is ten days. This is longer than the global indicator, but less by one day than the Russians spent on one trip in 2015.

At the same time, the average Russian traveler spends $ 1,676 on one trip. Interestingly, in 2015, the Russians spent significantly more - $ 2,730 per trip.

Most often, study participants from Russia visit Turkey, Thailand, Greece, Italy, the Czech Republic and Germany.

91% of Russians use mobile devices to access the Internet abroad, which is more than the world average (88%), and significantly more than in Europe (78%). Interestingly, Russians travel less frequently than Europeans in using ATMs (7% versus 17%), but they withdraw more cash (on average $ 547 versus $ 346).

According to Visa forecasts, in the next two years, people will travel more often, and the number of trips per year will increase from 2.5 to 2.7. They will also spend more - this indicator is expected to grow by 36.25%, to $ 2443, and for Russians - by 5%.

Given the exchange rate, travels in Russia are becoming more and more profitable. Moreover, they have always been no less exciting than foreign trips. The Village found out where to go in addition to the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory and the neighboring city where relatives live, and asked experienced travelers how to plan a trip and choose a route.

surf in Russian coastal cities

All my childhood and youth I traveled exclusively in Russia - tents, kayaks, skis, backpacks and fishing. There were classic hiking in the mountains, extreme rafting on mountain rivers, historical trips a la Golden Ring. No matter where my next outing was planned — Volga or Altai, Karelia or Crimea — I knew that it would be insanely interesting, beautiful and new. It was with this mood that I expected and still am expecting all my travels. This year I want to go to Sakhalin and Primorye - to catch a couple of waves in the Pacific Ocean and eat crabs; I want to scout a couple of new places for surfing on Ladoga and get to the Gogland island in the Gulf of Finland.

I can’t single out any one trip. I traveled along the unique bottomless Baikal and adjacent unique rivers, rafting on a catamaran and trying to find waves for surfing, went sailing along the Iovsky reservoir, where I dived behind a sunken motor and caught trout on a spinning rod - I remember this as yesterday. And last year’s surfbass trip from St. Petersburg to Kaliningrad to the Russian surfing championship, how to forget: miles of beaches, a museum of the World Ocean and a monument to Leonov, amber mountains and waves.

For three weeks of rafting and camping and sightseeing life with food on Lake Baikal, it took me about 35 thousand rubles (in 2009), and last year’s trip to Vladivostok I got 30 thousand rubles for ten days, 18 of which I gave for a ticket, Buying it a couple of days before departure, I lived with friends.

The main difficulty in planning a trip, especially for surfers, is the moments associated with choosing an airline: how to transport boards to the final point and back, so as not to break, and not pay more for their transportation than the ticket itself costs. Organizing a trip to a popular place is quite easy, but choosing exactly what you need is more difficult. Now the whole Internet is full of many forums and sites on any topic: rafting, fishing, paragliding, and even surfing. Read, talk, delve into - and forward, towards adventures.

travels to Baikal, Kamchatka, the Urals and the Caucasus

I have been traveling in Russia since 2010, I managed to visit Lake Baikal (I visited the Eastern Sayans with healing springs Choygan and walked along the island of Olkhon), in the South Urals in Zyuratkul National Park with a visit to Mount Bolshoi Iremel, in the Caucasus (Arkhiza area, then climbing Elbrus , mountains of the Republic of Adygea also did not go unnoticed). In addition, I was in Kamchatka in the South Kamchatka Natural Park and a little in the Nalychevo Natural Park, in Altai and in the Khibiny.

I have been organizing tours for the group for two years now, and the difficulties are the same everywhere. Transfer is always the most expensive and the most difficult to search. Everyone calls prices at random, and if you search well, you can find reasonable prices. But you have to search long enough. If you are traveling alone or together, then you don’t have to bother in advance, people often give them a ride, for free.

And it’s easy to organize a trip if you have a) a head on your shoulders and b) travel experience. It is important to always think over the moments of the siding, leaving the route in case of trouble - all the moments of safety and life. If we talk about the difficulties that arise during the trip itself, then for me it is wild animals, in particular bears. Bad weather, slush and the wind have not stopped me yet.

The budget is highly dependent on the specific travel area. Flying to Kamchatka by plane and taking a train to the Caucasus are two completely different prices. For one plane ticket to Kamchatka, I can travel for a month in the Caucasus and a month and a half in Crimea.

In principle, I love traveling, and the region can be absolutely anything. We have a lot of amazing, wonderful and unusual things in Russia, so I decided to start my adventures with our country. It is difficult to say which trip was the most memorable: each remained in memory, I remember everything in the smallest detail. But in some places I want to return again and again. I visited Altai twice and this year I will go to Elbrus and Adygea for the second time. I also really want to go again to Kamchatka to the area of volcanoes of the Klyuchevskaya group and to Altai. But one summer it’s hard to do. In addition, I dream of visiting Sakhalin Island and the Kuril Islands.

often happens in large Russian cities

I am a skater, and almost all of my work is related to skateboarding. Our occupation is closely intertwined with travel, we go to competitions, organize tours, shoot videos, we dare to visit each other. I have been wandering around Russia and the world for the past seven years without stopping. I have been in the North and the Caucasus, in Siberia and the Volga region, in the Far East and the Urals. I drove the Transsiberian train twice and wound tens of thousands of kilometers across Russia by car. Total traveled to several dozen regions and a hundred cities.

Over the years, I want to travel around Russia more and more. Of course, in many cities and regions of Russia the tourist infrastructure is still poorly developed, there are not enough modern hotels at a reasonable price, transport accessibility suffers, often there is simply no information about what is interesting to see in one place or another. Nevertheless, if you are ready to put up with discomfort and inconvenience at home, then traveling around the country is very exciting.

Speaking of my favorite trips, I liked traveling along the Trans-Siberian Railway. Taking a train in Moscow, after a while you can get to Mongolia, China and even to the Pacific Ocean. I liked it in Vladivostok, there is a port city, hills, bridges, ships, big water, port romance. It is very beautiful on the Kola Peninsula, nature is no worse than in Finland and other countries of Scandinavia. I like Kazan, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Yekaterinburg, Novorossiysk. I constantly return to my hometown of Cheboksary and I advise everyone in this direction. A very picturesque, compact and comfortable city on the banks of the large Volga River Bay. Around Moscow in neighboring areas there are a lot of beautiful ancient Russian cities in which time has stopped and you can relax from the bustle of the metropolis. Take a trip to Suzdal, to Rostov the Great. Despite the skepticism and ridicule of friends, a couple of years ago my friend and I very interestingly went to Dagestan. The old city of Derbent is one of the most picturesque cities in the country. Of the future routes, I really want to travel from Moscow to Vladivostok by car, I also want to visit the lower Volga (Volgograd and Astrakhan regions), Altai, Kaliningrad, Yakutia is very attractive, but getting there is worth a fortune.

The cost of traveling in Russia varies greatly. If we are talking about a short weekend trip, then we can meet the sum of 5 thousand rubles together. And if you are going to fly a helicopter over the volcanoes of Kamchatka, then prepare hundreds of thousands. It all depends on the route, the fare there from your city, your requests and comfort requirements. Relatively inexpensive gasoline, free roads and free parking (everywhere except Moscow) opens up wide opportunities for car tourism, but car wear on our roads is quite high.

You can talk on this topic for a long time, better try it yourself. To get started, choose a simpler route, think of a trip for three to four days. This should be enough to understand whether such a vacation is suitable for you or not. If you like it, then the largest country in the world is at your service.

goes on river trips by boat in the North-West region

My region is the Northwest, specifically Karelia and the Murmansk region. I love traveling there primarily because of the large number of interesting but uncomplicated rivers (we always had two or three newcomers in the team who couldn’t climb a difficult river in any way), and secondly, because of their proximity, and accordingly budget travel. I want to go to Altai and Sayan Mountains - this is the dream of any waterman.

Favorite route - Krasnenkaya - Kutsayoki - Tumcha, this is the south of the Murmansk region, not far from Kandalaksha. I have been there several times - the best river in our area, well, the company has always been selected excellent. The first time on the river was the most memorable: the weather was disgusting, almost to zero at night, everyone froze, did not crawl out of the rain for two weeks, there were several overkills (turned over in the rapids: everyone was alive and well, but suffered). As a result, everyone still remembers and no one says that he will not go anymore.

If you throw out the purchase of equipment from the travel budget, and it is quite expensive and needs a lot, then everything is very inexpensive. The main costs are tickets, food (three to four thousand per person for two weeks), and dropping and dropping to the starting point (a taxi, in fact, but on the road and off-road, so it costs money). More than 15 thousand for a two-week trip did not go.

You can organize a trip yourself. On our first trip, we went six together, and all were boobies without water experience, and nothing, everyone is alive. You just need to carefully read what they write on the Internet, and have basic organizational skills - so that cars arrive always on time, and there is enough food. Difficulties with nearby routes can be easily avoided: for example, with border guards and the Ministry of Emergencies (many rivers flow nearby with borders), you need to arrange in advance by phone and inform them on arrival that you are on the route.

I often travel to Russian cities, the budget is minimal, so my man and I have recently preferred hitchhiking. The last two routes: St. Petersburg - Veliky Novgorod - Moscow and Moscow - Rostov -Stavropol-Arkhyz. The last time impressions were the most memorable - every minute new. This is both interesting and not expensive. We have an amazing country, and the deeper you visit the villages, the more responsive and kinder people are. My dream is to go to Sakhalin, where my parents met, and to Yakutia - my dad was born there.

We save a lot on the road. Here, for example, on the Peter – Novgorod – Moscow trip, we spent a total of 5 thousand in three days, and this was because we spent the night in a hotel.

The main thing is to decide which route to take. Even in wild places you can find where to spend the night. But, of course, we are lucky with the weather, we try to ride in warm weather, without precipitation and frost. Drivers are always willing to share information about where it is better to go, tell that they know about the surrounding places, here you will have a guide, transport, and kindness all rolled into one. Someone offers to sleep, someone treats, someone just tells funny stories. If you say right away that you are hitchhiking, no one will even think of taking money from you.

Once we used BlaBlaCar - a good service, if there is no certainty that hitchhiking will save. So we drove from Moscow to Rostov. Drivers ’loyalty depends on the place: the duller the road, the more willing you will be picked up. There is probably a pity or a lively interest on what the hell are we doing here. We always come across interesting and funny people. Even in the first hitchhiking, we realized: if the driver stops, he is a priori either moved full head or very kind. At night, it is most often truckers who are afraid to fall asleep, during the day - the Russian auto industry.
