Ways of putting a worm on a hook. We put bait of animal origin on the hook Installation of silicone bait on a double hook

There is a wide variety of baits, one of the most popular today is maggots, but at the same time, many beginners do not even know how to put a maggot on a hook. But the effectiveness of the bait and the quantity with the quality of the catch depend on this. After all, an incorrectly planted bait will be eaten by fish, leaving you with nothing, and in the worst case, it will go completely unnoticed. But how to properly hook a maggot and how to effectively combine it with various gear and bait? Is it possible to catch live bait with it and what you need to know when using maggots as complementary foods?

What is it and how to plant it

Maggot is an almost universal bait, which, with proper experience, can catch any kind of fish, because this bait is just as loved by them as ordinary earthworms.
all thanks to the fair activity of the bait, whose body, wriggling, begins to emit a special bouquet of smells, and those, in turn, lure all the fish in the area. Both predators and peaceful fish peck at maggots, which begin to lack plant food in autumn and winter. Of course, the effectiveness of your fishing, even with such a bait, will still be in question if you do not know how to hook a maggot on a hook correctly. And it depends on many factors, from the type of rod to the type of hooks you use.

But the main factors on which the behavior of the bait on the hook depends are:

  • the size of the catch that the fisherman is counting on, because when catching a big fish, you can plant a whole bunch of maggots, and if you just need to lure the fish, then one larva will be enough;
  • the type of hook being used;
  • from the chosen fishing spot, this affects the gear that you need, and, accordingly, how to use the bait;
  • from the way you are going to fish, since the nozzle for spinning and for a regular fishing rod will differ: in the first case, you need to fasten the bait tightly, and in the second - so that it lures as many fish as possible.

But a high-quality maggot bait depends primarily on the hook itself, and there are several points that inexperienced fishermen simply do not pay attention to, which leads to ineffective use of larvae as bait.

To avoid such consequences, your tackle must meet the following requirements:

Basic ways

As noted earlier, there are many nozzle methods, and they depend on many factors. The task of any fisherman is to choose the most effective for their purposes and to know as many different variations as possible in order to be able to use them at any time.

So, the most popular are:

Classic

Execute it as follows:

  1. The maggot larva, firmly held in the hands, should not be strongly squeezed, otherwise it may burst and lose its shape when put on a hook.
  2. The bait is put on in such a way that the hook passes only under the skin, without catching the insides. To do this, there is a trick - with the help of the forearm of the hook, the skin of the larva is slightly pulled off, after which it is pierced with a quick and easy movement.
  3. Then there is an optional step, but if your goal is fry or a similar future bait, then before putting the larva on the hook, you should cut it slightly. In this way, you can catch roach, crucian carp and even perch.

Nozzle along

And if you need to catch exactly a large individual, then this method is the best fit, because when the maggot is put on in this way, you can catch both a large carp and sabrefish with asp, and all because as soon as the fish swallowed the bait planted so she won't be able to leave.

For such an effect, it is enough to perform just a couple of actions:

  1. The hook is inserted starting from the thick side of the maggots.
  2. And they are taken out starting from its middle, and you need to be very careful, because if you damage the insides or burst the larva, then it will become completely unattractive to any fish in the area.

through the middle

This method is taken from professional fishermen of any caliber, and it was invented at one of the world's tournaments. Its main difficulty lies in the almost jewelry work with bait, which must be done with the main rule - do not touch the insides, otherwise the maggot again turns into an unnecessary lump of protein for the fish. But if you perform such a nozzle correctly and with the proper attitude, then it can bring a fabulous catch even to beginners. But it is best to practice before fishing at home, because everything may not turn out very smoothly the first time.

So, you will need:

  1. Grab the larva firmly, while holding it horizontally.
  2. Next, we string the maggot on a hook right in the middle of his body and try to do it so that only his skin is affected, and not the whole body.

The main advantage of this bait is the free and active movements of the bait, which adds naturalness to it and attracts fish even more. With proper skill in this way, you can catch small fish like perch or gobies, which, trying to swallow maggot with their large mouth, will immediately catch on the hook of the rod.

For line fishing

As it is easy to understand from the name, this method is necessary when using appropriate gear, the main disadvantage of which is often the ease of hooking on various debris on the bottom. If this happens, then you will lose not only the bait, but also most of the equipment, and therefore you should prepare everything in advance to avoid such an outcome.

It is enough to plant the bait as follows:

  1. Lay the maggot head up in an upright position.
  2. Pass the hook through it, starting from the head and ending with the tail, but do not squeeze too hard so that it does not burst.
  3. You can continue to put larvae on this hook as long as its size allows it. Thus, it will be possible to attract the largest individuals, often living at the bottom of reservoirs. A dense nozzle will not allow the forearm to cling to algae.

Bait characteristic

Maggot is a very popular bait, which is particularly versatile and allows you to catch different fish at any time of the year. Very often it is used in the form of a kind of sandwich with a bloodworm, which is of great interest to large fish. However, many novice fishermen do not know how to properly hook a maggot, so instead of the expected success, they will be disappointed.

If set incorrectly, the fish will simply ignore the bait, or easily pick it off the hook. Also, an incorrectly threaded maggot will quickly die, turning from an attractive bait into a lump that is not attractive to fish. In order to prevent such consequences, it is important to understand in advance the main aspects of this, at first glance, uncomplicated action.

As for the bait itself, it is a blowfly larva, the size of which does not exceed 12 millimeters. Her body is painted white and has a thickened front. Despite its relatively large size, the creature leads a very fast and mobile lifestyle, making its way into absolutely any cracks. In most cases, fishermen buy the larvae from fishing stores or look for them in rotting meat and manure. In addition, it can be grown independently, providing the appropriate conditions.

To increase the effectiveness of the bait, many masters of fishing change the color of its body. Therefore, it will be useful for a beginner to know how to paint maggot red, this is what is attractive to fish.

As for the features of planting, it is important to act carefully and carefully. If the larva is planted incorrectly, it will quickly lose its entrails and die, ceasing to attract fish.

As mentioned above, blowfly larva is a versatile bait that is effective for different fish and at different times. Twisting body movements and a specific smell are very attractive to river inhabitants, and not only peaceful ones, but also predators, including perch or pike perch. And when wondering how to put a maggot on a hook, it is important to carefully study all aspects and take into account the advice of experienced fishermen.

Three mounting methods

Fishing for blowfly larvae is always very interesting. But for beginners, it can be difficult to put the bait on the hook, because they do not know how to do it.

In turn, experienced masters practice three main methods of planting a maggot:

  1. Classical.
  2. Along, or "stocking" In this case, all parts of the body are threaded.
  3. Through the middle.

You can also use the sandwich method and the reverse.

Performing the task, it is necessary to pay special attention to the thick "head" with two small "eyes" - black dots, because in this place the bait is denser and can stay on the hook much longer.

Secrets of proper planting:

Where to find bait

When going fishing, most modern anglers go to a specialized store. This is the optimal solution, but it has disadvantages: sometimes they are not available, and the cost is higher than expected. For this reason, a number of amateurs choose other methods:

  1. Harvest from a dead animal or rotting meat.
  2. Start breeding at home.

For the extraction of maggots you need to know where they are found. In most cases, bait is looked for in village toilets, under a layer of manure, and also in places where meat or fish waste is thrown. And although this way of searching for larvae is not entirely attractive, the result is worth it. It is important to understand that poking around in manure or meat is not necessary. It is enough to collect the larvae with a scoop or spatula in a bucket and cover them with sand or sawdust. After a short period of time, you can get completely clean maggots.

Concerning breeding blowfly larvae at home, then this is not difficult and quite doable, except for the dissatisfaction of others with a bad smell. Today, several methods of breeding maggots are practiced:

fish sandwich

It's no secret that bait works great as a sandwich in combination with many other foods, including corn, worm, bloodworm and barley. You can combine with different ingredients by planting several on one hook.

The most effective combination is the maggot plus worm option, which perfectly attracts different types of fish. In this case, you need to know how to properly hook the worm so that it looks attractive along with the larva.

Another good sandwich is maggot and barley. It can be used when fishing in places with intense currents, where crucian carp, silver bream, white bream and carp will bite perfectly.

The most common variant of a sandwich is maggot plus bloodworm, which demonstrates amazing performance at any time of the year. In this case, almost any fish that is only in the reservoir will peck.

If you correctly string the selected ingredients on the hook, it will give you an unforgettable bite with a trophy outcome.

Bait coloring

Maggot with a natural white color is attractive to fish, but in some conditions it is almost invisible. To solve the problem, fishermen change the body color of the bait to green, red, and any other. Of course, you can buy colored maggot in the store, but it’s not difficult to give the desired color on your own.

Red larvae are especially effective. It's pretty easy to get this color. deal with the task, how to dye maggot red even a novice fisherman can. Among the existing methods for changing body color, the following should be highlighted:

  1. Crushed red worms should be placed in the soil with maggots.
  2. Red brick powder or grated red beets can be mixed into the feed.
  3. You can grind the bloodworm and add to the container with maggots.
  4. Carefully grate the carrots and squeeze out, feed the cake to the larvae.

To notice a change in color, it is enough to wait a few hours. In addition to changing the color, the smell of the larva can be enhanced. To do this, spray the container where the maggots are located with a special flavor. It is better to use vanilla or anise, as they are the most attractive to fish.

Storage conditions

If after a trip to the pond many live maggots left, or after acquiring the bait it was not possible to go fishing, the larvae can be saved until the next time. The duration of their life is determined by the temperature regime, the characteristics of the substrate and the capacity where storage will be carried out. The following conditions must be met:

Fly larvae are excellent bait for fishing. With its help, you can catch a couple of real trophies even under the most unfavorable fishing conditions. However, in order for the next fishing trip to be successful, it is important to clarify in advance all the subtleties of planting, breeding and storing larvae. Otherwise, the expected success from fishing may not be.

Bait for catching carp of animal origin: types, features, when to use

To begin with, let's look at what types of animal bait for crucian carp are common:

  • Timeless classic. It is hard to imagine at least one float fishing without this bait. However, the earthworm has a fellow animal order - the dung worm, which is "more successful" than its neighbor. This bait is suitable for beginners, since the worm is common, if desired, it will not be a problem to dig a worm yourself off the coast or buy it in a fishing store. It is used at any time of the day and month of the fishing season.

  • Another one of the three hits of float fishing. More suitable for smaller specimens, but has one huge plus - “survival on the hook”, unlike the worm and bloodworm, the maggot holds on tight enough and can serve for a long time, which is especially useful when catching a frisky fish and will make life easier for beginners, since it is often a problem for them to put on a new bait. If you live far from the city and getting maggot is problematic, you can use the following advice. Take a piece of meat or fish. In the case of fish, you will need to remove the scales. Position them so that they do not interfere with neighbors and are difficult to reach for cats and dogs. Make small cuts in them and leave for 3-5 days. After the specified period, you will receive ready-made maggots.

  • There are many anglers who believe that carp should be caught only on bloodworms. There is a reason for this, since often this fish bites only on him. It is best to plant a large bloodworm over the head, so it will retain survivability longer. If it is small, then you can use the “sandwich” nozzle method, which will be described below.

  • If you want to catch the approving glances of your hobby mates or break an old record, use it. Best of all for fishing for crucian on live bait, a top-float is suitable. Despite its size, it has a number of advantages: survivability and the same habitat as the crucian. In the absence of a top melter, you can use the small crucian itself. Live bait fishing is most suitable for fishing in the spring and / or at night, because at this time the water temperature is low, and large crucian carp rise higher, where topfins form the main diet of large fish.

How to prepare worms for carp fishing

If you want to achieve great results, pre-treat the worm before fishing.

It will not be superfluous, at least, to moisten the worm so that it does not lose its activity during fishing, you can also add birch sawdust or grass to the bait storage container a few hours before fishing to remove unpleasant odors.

Methods of "preservation" of the worm in flavors are also possible. To do this, you need to use a plastic container in which you need to lay a cotton rag soaked in additives. It is good to add anise oil and vanilla to the worm. On top of the rag and the worms themselves, put herbs and add a little water, then leave the entire container for 12 hours in a cool place and away from sunlight.

How to put a worm on a hook

There are several ways to plant a worm, let's look at a few of them.

  • Planting a worm with a "stocking". With this method, the bait is put on along, through the center of one of the ends of the worm. As a result, he, as it were, envelops the entire hook, forming a stocking. At the end, it is recommended to expose the tip of the hook for a better bite.
  • Planting worms in a bunch. In this method, several worms are taken and pierced through the core, ultimately creating a bundle of several that looks attractive to the fish.
  • in pieces. In this case, you tear the worm into small pieces, putting it on the hook through the core. The secret of this method is that in the water they spread a smell that actively attracts fish.
  • Puncture in three places. For this method, a large specimen is taken, in which three punctures are made: at one end, in the middle and at the other end. The advantages of this method are that the worm shows maximum mobility, enticing the desired trophy.

Features of catching carp on maggot

Catching crucian maggot differs little from catching a worm. However, there are several aspects that are worth paying attention to.

First of all, do not forget to update the maggot, over time it becomes unusable, and you will notice that only the shell remains of the bait. In this case, remove it and plant a new one.

The maggot eventually rolls onto the fishing line, which makes such a bait useless, to eliminate this problem, you can hang a cambric limiter at the place where the hook is attached to the fishing line. The hook remains open when fishing for maggot.

Other types of animal bait for carp fishing

Planting live bait

  • Under the top fin. The most common way is to plant a live bait under the upper fin. Its main advantages are ease of execution and long-term mobility of fish in the water. You make a puncture in the lower part of the upper fin, preferably shifting the center of gravity towards the tail.
  • Under the lip You firmly fasten the bait to the upper lip on a special hook with the tip up, and then cast into the deep part of the reservoir. Don't forget to check that the fry stay alive.
  • Under the gills. For this method, you will need a double hook. You pass the empty lead through the fish's mouth, leading out through the gills. Be careful, because with this method of planting it is very easy to kill the live bait. Ideally, the doppelganger's ring should stick out a little from the fish's mouth.

What is the best bait to catch carp in the summer

In summer, fish prefer baits of animal origin,
because they have more nutrients than vegetable species.

However, it is worth noting that the presented baits are suitable for fishing at other times of the year.

When choosing them, it is worth considering the characteristics of the reservoir and the desired size of the fish.

Conclusion

Based on personal experience and the experience of other fishermen, it is worth noting that crucian is a capricious fish and can behave unpredictably. He may refuse to take a certain type of bait regardless of the weather or time of day.

Rules for baiting worms

There are three basic rules for baiting a worm:

  • It is required to plant in such a way that it remains mobile and alive, that is, attractive to fish;
  • The worm and hook must be proportionate, so the size of the bait is selected according to the size of the hook. This is necessary so that the fish does not break off, and the bait does not jump off;
  • Each worm must be planted on the entire hook, since the fish with such a nozzle will swallow it whole.

For large individuals, several worms can be planted at once, as this will increase the chances of a positive catch result. Chunking is used for small fish, but the catch is reduced due to loss of mobility. For this type of nozzle, you can use the combination in the bait with porridge.

Use this bait for:

Each type of worm is used for a specific fish:

  • Earthworms are used for carp fishing, they are pierced below the base of the head, after which the piercing gradually passes down to the tail, while in the remains of the tail (four centimeters) the sting is securely hidden;
  • Crawls in the beam bait are used for catching catfish. Several individuals are put on the hook in a looped way through the middle of the body, with this type of puncture, small fish will not peck;
  • Breams are caught on bundles of dung worms;
  • When catching carp, red dung worms are suitable, which, until the moment of fishing, are best kept in mint or herbs, which will allow them to get a seductive aroma for carp. At the same time, red dung worms are planted in small pieces.

The use of bait or bait also depends on the nature of fishing:

  • when catching predatory fish species, worms are combined with fish pieces or parts of crawling out;
  • for non-predatory fish, the worm is combined with maggots, pearl barley or corn porridge.

The correct nozzle is distinguished by:

  • Punctures begin at the base of the head;
  • The hook is inserted under the skin. The base of the hook should be thin and short, preferably half the length of the bait. With a full nozzle, the first puncture is made one and a half centimeters from the head. At the end of the punctures, the sting hides in the body of the worm, not reaching the tail, which dangles freely.

Planting methods

There are a lot of planting methods, while there is one feature that applies to any method:

  • when catching small fish, the sting closes completely;
  • when catching large individuals, it is not necessary to completely close the sting.

The rest of the process will be divided only by the number of worms.

The most common ways to put a single worm on a hook are:

  • piercing along, with this method, it is mounted on the entire length of the hook and part of the fishing line;
  • Lump nozzle. The worm is divided into several parts, after which all its parts are put on the hook in order. This method is most often used in a simple float rod;
  • Eight. Represents a nozzle at which the worm forms loop forms. Two different ends of the bait diverge on different sides, while the entire hook is occupied;
  • Alive and twisting. With this method, the bait is put on the hook with several punctures, adjacent punctures have small gaps between them, which allow the bait to squirm, which will attract large fish.
  • Tackle. An individual is strung on the base of the longest hook, which has several stings. In this case, each sting remains open;
  • Exit to the line. The bait is pulled onto the line fiber located above the hook base. This method is used when catching restless fish, since the hook is completely hidden, which allows the fish to swallow it whole and not break.

Lively and wriggling - with this method, the bait is put on the hook with the help of several punctures

Planting multiple worms

The beam nozzle has the following features:

  • several worms are put on the hook in various ways;
  • after the beam shape has turned out, the tackle slowly lowers into the water;
  • This method is suitable for catching large fish.

With this type of fishing, it is necessary to watch that the beam is not immersed in the silt at the bottom of the reservoir. This is due to the fact that the “beam” is required to be used only for float types of fishing.

Where to find worms

Worms prefer dark, damp places, such as:

  • under the logs;
  • in manure;
  • damp pits;
  • garden manure.

In rural areas, bait can be found quite easily, and in urban areas, you can buy worms in a store.

Every angler should remember that the bait must be taken in larger quantities than it may be required. This is due to the fact that:

  • You can catch any fish on the worm. This type of bait is universal;
  • With a good bite, the bait may simply not be enough.

Nozzle storage

You can store the nozzle in almost any container, the main thing is to follow a few rules:

  • The container must have a lid with a small hole or holes through which fresh air will enter. Thanks to this, the attractiveness of the bait will remain for a long time;
  • The lid must be closed tightly, since the worms can crawl out;
  • Before collecting the bait, the container is pre-filled with earth from the same place where the bait is taken from. This is required in order to catch fish on a fresh worm.

Without following these rules, you can lose worms, or they will shrivel (lose their attractiveness), and this will affect the catch.

For the correct use of worms as bait, there are several recommendations that will help you get a good catch:

The vibrotail is still one of the most competitive baits today, allowing you to successfully catch all types of freshwater predatory fish. But as in any important business, the result of which depends on the performance of many successive effective operations in the aggregate that bring overall success, and fishing is just such an option, fishing with a vibrotail has a number of nuances.

It is about one of these nuances, and in particular, how to install a vibrotail, that we will talk today and try to analyze the main points of its competent execution.

Silicone baits for jig are diverse in their shapes and types, and also differ in size and density of the material. All these factors should be considered during installation. Anyhow, how to put a silicone bait on a hook, throw it into the water and expect a successful bite is simply unreasonable. First of all, the fisherman must understand that the vibrotail can be equipped with various types of hooks, single, offset, double, tee, and this depends on the fishing conditions, the intensity of bites and the type of fish that the angler is counting on. The easiest way to plant a vibrotail seems to be on.

Important! Choose the place where the wide back of the vibrotail transitions into its narrow tail. This transition point should be the exit point of the hook from the body of the bait.

With a sting, we pierce the vibrotail at the location of the mouth of the artificial fish and string its body until the sting of the hook reaches the point of exit to the surface that we have chosen. We bring the tip in the back of the artificial fish to half the rounding of the jig head hook. This completes the installation.

Important! The hook of the jig head must correspond to the size of the vibrotail from the mouth of the fish to the point where the sting of the hook comes out on the surface of the back of the nozzle.

jig head selection

Initially, it is worth choosing a jig head based on a combination of three factors:

  • hook size;
  • head weight;
  • bait size.

I explain that large silicone will require a long forearm, but not always a large mass of head load, because this factor depends on fishing conditions and on the depth of the reservoir.

The correct silicone nozzle on the offset

It is not much more difficult to correctly fit the vibrotail on the offset. This installation is successfully used for catching a predator in the snarled sections of reservoirs. Having picked up the offset, we pass it into the mouth of the fish and bring out the sting of the hook under the lower part of the vibrotail head. Then we stretch the hook along the body of the fish and pierce the belly of the silicone to its back through and through. We bring the tip of the offset machine strictly parallel to the back of the nozzle, trying to press the tip as tightly as possible to the body of the vibrotail. Installation completed. A silicone fish is mounted on a single hook without much difficulty, which cannot be said about mounting on a double and a tee.

Equipping a vibrotail with a twin

Requires selection of a hook with a long shank. Putting a vibrotail on a jig with just this type of twin greatly simplifies the task.

As in the case of installation on a single type of hook, we determine the point for piercing the bait, only now it will not be the exit point of the point, but the place where the double ring is inserted into the body of the nozzle and the point will not be on the back, but on the side. Having slightly parted the hooks of the double, we pierce the fish from the side through and through with one hook and string the silicone along the entire forearm. As a result, it turns out that the vibrotail will hang with its back between two double hooks. Then, pressing the ring into the body of the bait towards its mouth, we pass the silicone through until the fixing ring comes out of the body of the fish. The installation is almost completed, it remains only to spread the nozzle to the length of the entire forearm of the hook so that it gets its original geometric dimensions and does not deform.

Important! A deformed bait has a noticeably negative effect on the quality of its game during postings.

In most cases, deformations of the silicone bait occur from an incorrectly defined puncture site and from an incorrectly selected length of the shank of the vibrotail hook. With a sluggish bite, uncertain bites and frequent gatherings, it is reasonable to equip the jig bait using a tee in the installation. This mounting option allows you to increase the chances of notching a cautious and fastidious predator.

Read also about fishing and the correct selection of bait depending on the fishing conditions.

Equipped with a tee

To equip vibrotails with triple hooks, you will need additional unpretentious equipment in the form of a metal or plastic tube with a diameter of not more than five millimeters. The length is sufficient at 2 cm. The tube should be one and a half times the thickness of the mounted silicone bait. This device is needed in order to make a through hole in the body of the vibrotail for mounting the tee on the side.

Important! The hole must be optimal in diameter based on the size of the tee. A small hole will not allow symmetrical installation of the tee hooks, and a large hole with an increase in the play of the tee during wiring will worsen the quality of the nozzle play.

As in the first wiring diagrams, markings are made to determine the point of the required hole. The length of the tee forearm, excluding the attachment loop, will be our main guideline. We pierce the vibrotail with a pre-prepared tube, since silicone is malleable for these manipulations. Further, in the hole made towards the mouth of the fish inside the body of the bait, we thread the triple hook with a fastening ring through the front. Stretching the hole previously made by the tube, we transfer the first sting of the tee to the opposite side of the artificial fish.

With the second sting, we pierce the back through the same hole, bringing the tip parallel to the back of the silicone, but leave the third hook without any manipulation. In principle, the installation of a vibrotail on a tee can be considered complete. The disadvantages of this installation is its rather low permeability in fishing areas with vegetation. The best way to use silicone baits on tees is in clean areas of the reservoir.

The importance of equipping a vibrotail when fishing

The ability to correctly, competently and effectively equip vibrotails with various types of hooks allows you to use broader strategies when catching a predator. Indeed, such types of equipment, excluding only the attachment of a vibrotail to solid jig heads, make it possible to use silicone baits in conjunction with interchangeable hinged weights, the so-called cheburashkas among fishermen, as well as when fishing with a bombard under various fishing conditions. Equipping a vibrotail with an offset hook, double and tee can be safely called universal. After all, by manipulating the load of Cheburashka and the float of the bombard by type and weight, the bait can be used at different depths and at the same time perform various types of postings.

Well, by changing the types of hooks, they can be successfully caught in overgrown and snarled areas of the reservoir and with the passivity of the predator. Therefore, the arsenal of fishing lures for a lover of catching predators, representing freshwater reservoirs, should include all the types of installation discussed above. After all, equipment prepared at home will save valuable time on fishing, increase the angler's opportunities for a successful outcome of fishing, even despite the prevailing conditions of the fishing session.

Now it is necessary to carry out the correct installation of silicone baits. It seems nothing complicated, but there are many nuances and features that depend on the type of hook and the type of bait. And if you don't know how to put silicone primac on correctly, then let's figure it out.

The easiest and most affordable installation, but has a number of negative points, which is why many anglers do not like to use it. The fact is that these jig heads often have a lead spike on the forearm of the hook, which serves to ensure that the bait does not fly off and hang out. At the same time, it severely damages the bait, which is why it can only be changed a few times.

Another disadvantage of this installation of silicone baits is that the hook is rigidly connected to the sinker and has no freedom, which is why baits with a passive game (worms, slugs) will not work for us. With such heads it is necessary to use baits with an active game (twisters and vibrotails).

First of all, we need to choose a hook that will fit the size of the bait. If the bait has a well-defined body and tail, then a hook is taken, which will come out where the body of the bait ends.

A little more difficult with those baits that do not have a pronounced tail. In this case, we choose a hook that will be equal to half its length.

When mounting silicone baits, we attach a hook to the body of the nozzle and look where the sting should come out, remembering this place (the exit point can be marked with a marker or pierced with a hook). Then we pierce the head of the bait along the axis and thread the hook to the place where it should come out. After we remove it from the body of the bait. The tip of the hook should come out of the back of the bait, not the belly. By the way, if this is your first time doing this, then don’t be upset that you didn’t calculate a little with symmetry or brought it too deep, a little training and everything will work out.

To equip small lures, small hooks are used, on the forearm of which, as a rule, there is no spike. In order for our bait not to hang out and fly off, you need to make such a latch yourself. To do this, we take a thin copper wire and apply it to the shank of the hook, leaving a small tip, and wrap the shank of the hook as tightly as possible in a spiral. We bend the remaining end as in the figure.

Recently, on sale, you can find a jig head with a wire wound on the forearm, which is very convenient, because with this installation of silicone lures, the rubber breaks much less.

When purchasing a jig head, it must be taken into account that different manufacturers have hooks with the same numbering, may have different sizes. For comparison, the photo shows two hooks with the size 5/0 declared on the package.

More than once in passive fish, a situation was noticed when there are bites, as evidenced by teeth on silicone and other damage, but the fish does not want to be detected. In this case, it is necessary to equip our bait with an additional tee or double. How to plant silicone bait in this case?

We need a double or tee equipped with a swivel that fits the height of the bait's body. We attach the hook of the jig head to the body of the bait and mark the exit point, then we thread the hook through the head of the bait along the axis. We insert the swivel into the body of the bait, having previously outlined the point where the sting of the hook will pass through the ring of the swivel. We pass the sting of the hook through the ring of the swivel and bring it out. At the place of the gap, where the swivel entered, we apply a drop of glue.

You can also attach the tee with wire as shown in the picture.

Hinged mounting

Hinged mounting of silicone baits has a number of advantages over a rigid connection. Firstly, with this installation, the silicone bait gets a greater degree of freedom and its game becomes more realistic. Secondly, this design allows you to better break through the wind and send tackle over longer distances. Hinged mounts use single, double, triple and offset hooks.

The most common is the installation using an eared sinker, called Cheburashka by the fishermen. The sinker can be both collapsible and non-collapsible. A collapsible eared sinker allows you to quickly pull out the armature to which the hook is attached and quickly change the nozzle. Unfortunately, for low-quality sinkers, this reinforcement may fall out during the fight.

A non-separable eared load is connected to the hook through a winding ring, such an installation is more reliable, which is why it is practiced when catching trophy fish. Also, the use of a winding ring gives the bait more freedom in the game, but impairs its patency.

In silted areas, a jig rig works well. In this installation, an elongated sinker is used, connected to the main fishing line and hook, through a winding ring. As a result, when posting, the bait does not burrow completely into the silt.

Installation of silicone lures on double hooks

We place the bait in the left hand so that its head looks away from us, and turn the hook with a bend towards the body of the nozzle. Then we look at the distance at which the sting of the hook should come out (in the center of the bait's body). We place the double so that the left hook looks in the direction of the head of the bait, and with the right we pierce it through the center and bring it to the eye of the double. We turn it around and see that the fore-end of the double is clearly along the axis of the bait, and we push it into the body of the bait, so that the ring of the double comes out exactly along the axis.

How to put a silicone bait on an offset hook

The installation of silicone baits with help allows you to make a “non-hooking” tackle, which will have maximum patency among snags, stones and aquatic vegetation.

We pierce the nose of the bait with the tip of the hook, exactly along the axis, driving the sting 3-4 mm into the body of the bait and then bring it out, paying attention to the fact that the sting and tail should be directed to the bottom. After that, we stretch the head of the bait to the beginning of the forearm of the offset and turn it over, as a result, the head of the bait is fixed on the step. We measure the place where the hook should come out and pierce the belly of the bait, after which we remove the tip of the hook from silicone.

When mounting the bait, do not be afraid to bend the silicone. To give the bait non-catching properties, we start the offset sting in her back.

In order for your bait to keep well on the hook and not fall off, you can use final keeper. Plastic keepers have a cylindrical protrusion at the bottom and a groove at the top. In order to screw it into the bait, we take the keeper with the groove up and insert it into the nose of the bait exactly along the axis. After that, in the hole of the keeper we start sharper than the hook, and repeat the well-known procedure. The fastener of a cheburashka, or a clockwork ring, is threaded into the eye of the hook.

You can meet the final-keepers in the form of springs with a long ear.In order to equip the silicone bait, we also take and screw the spring exactly along the axis. Then we string the silicone on the hook, in a way known to us. And in order to attach a clasp or a winding ring to the hook, we pass them not only through the eye of the hook, but also through the eye of the spring

Mounting on a jig head with a triple hook

On sale there are jig heads with a triple hook, equipped with a corkscrew. This installation of silicone baits is quite simple. First, we screw a corkscrew into the body of the bait along its axis. Then one of the hooks of the tee, we stab it into the body of the bait from above. With this type of mounting, jigging for zander is especially effective.

Mounting the bait at one end

This installation of silicone lures is used by anglers during the period of weak bite, and can significantly increase the number of bites, due to greater freedom in the game of the bait, although the number of empty bites will also increase, as it will become more difficult to spot the fish.
There are three ways to plant silicone bait:

  • Pass the hook along the axis of the bait and bring it out a little lower;
  • Hook from below and withdraw the sting along the axis of the bait;
  • Hook from one side and withdraw through the second;

Installation of the silicone bait "VEKI"

This type of mounting is used when fishing with special thick silicone worms, which are called "EYELIDS". In the absence of such, ordinary worms can be used, the main thing is that the rubber is durable.

When mounting the bait, the sting of the hook pierces the silicone worm in the middle. As a result, during the posting, we play two hanging edges of the worm, luring the fish. This installation has an addition, when a metal peg is inserted into one of the edges, and the opposite one is put on the sting of the hook along the axis of the bait. In this case, one end lies on the bottom, and the other, with light pulls with the rod, rises and plays.

In this way, Americans catch bass (largemouth bass), in our case this type of lure mounting can be used when catching pike, perch or trophy peaceful fish. Such a non-standard technique allows you to diversify the game and can bring results at a time when other baits pass.

Remote montages

These include:

  • Drop shot;
  • Moscow equipment;
  • Texas and Carolina;

Drop shot works well in muddy areas, as the hook can be at a distance of 30-70 cm from the sinker. Installation is pretty simple. We take a piece of fishing line 1 m long and knit a sinker at one end with a clinch knot, then skip the hook and determine the height at which it will be. The hook is knitted at a distance of 30-70 cm from the load, although the most common attachment point is a distance of 40-50 cm. The hook is knitted with a Palomar knot. The rig is connected to the main line with the help of a swivel or the same Palomar knot.

Also, with the help of a drop-shot, you can fish one specific area for a long time.

Moscow equipment has a branch of 30-150 cm, on which the nozzle is located, due to which it is very effective on water bodies with a current that gives the bait an interesting game.

When fishing in strong places, it is worth using caroline or Texas snaps in combination with an offset hook. With this installation of silicone lures, our tackle gets the maximum passability through algae, snags and rocky areas.
