We visited Tenerife for the first time. I've wanted it for a long time.
We visited Tenerife for the first time. I’ve been wanting it for a long time, and 3-2 weeks before departure Anex offered such discounts that it was impossible to refuse. Initially I planned almost the cheapest option for south coast– Catalonia Oro Negro 3*, then those same discounts arrived, and I had already decided to go to Vulcano 4*, but the hotel was not confirmed, and I returned to the original option, reasoning that higher powers were in control of my finances. During the time that I was thinking about two options, and then waiting for confirmation from Vulcano 4*, prices managed to fall a couple more times, so final version It turned out to be even cheaper than our last year’s trip to Salou, which I certainly did not expect and which, of course, I was happy about. Thanks to the Spaniards who gave us an annual Schengen visa last year.

The flight was frightening in its duration. And on the way there I really got a little tired. Departure at 5 am is very convenient in terms of saving at least half tourist day, but heavy due to a sleepless night. The day flight back was much easier for me personally. I was pleasantly surprised by Anex, who, having postponed the flight by 3.5 hours, at the airport handed over food coupons for 6 euros per person. We enjoyed drinking orange juice at the company's expense in one of the airport bars. Perhaps this is a generally accepted practice, but I personally encountered it for the first time, although the flights I had flown previously had been postponed several times (and I only found out about the postponement of the flight to Tunisia by 4 hours 5 years ago only on the airport departure board).

So, Catalonia Oro Negro 3*, one of the few three-room apartments on the south coast. The hotel has a good rating on almost all popular resources. It is clear that people choosing budget option, for the most part, do not make excessive demands, which is why the hotel is rated ahead of expensive, prestigious options on some resources. In my opinion, the price-quality ratio in this hotel is excellent.

The rooms are spacious and have air conditioning and a ceiling fan. But the wonderful climate of the island, the absence of sweltering heat, made it possible not to use air conditioning at night, but to sleep with an open balcony. Through TopHotels, I asked the hotel staff to provide us with an ocean view room on a higher floor. I didn’t wait for an answer (as it turned out, there was one, but after our departure), but upon check-in, the nice girl at the reception, who spoke the basics of Russian, said “ocean” and “high” and handed over the keys to a room on the fifth floor with a view (not very close, of course) to the ocean. This option not only had beautiful view, but also ensured night silence (but, of course, not on victory day football team England over the Welsh team).

The beds in the room seemed comfortable to me, there were enough hangers in the closet, mirrored closet doors allowed you to admire yourself at full height, there was a clothes dryer on the balcony (yay!), and a flat-screen TV with 2 Russian channels. This time I didn’t pay for the safe, because on my last trip I decided that there was no point in this one. Well, everything is fine. There is no refrigerator in the room, but we tried the non-refrigerated option last year in Salou. It's not critical for us. The Internet worked.

The soap-gel-shampoo set is issued once and is not replenished. I always carry everything I own with me, but someone might find this information useful. And for the second time in my life, the maid did not take the tip left on the bed (the first time in one of the hotels in Salou). But at the reception desk and in the restaurant there is a container designed specifically for tips with words of gratitude in different languages. So, there would be a desire.

The staff deserves all the praise. I didn’t have to communicate with the reception staff after checking in (well, somehow there were no problems), but with the restaurant workers – twice a day. Very nice people. It is convenient that a special person is in charge of seating in the hall - he escorts you to a free table. There were no queues at the restaurant, although the hotel was fully booked, the size of the hall and the fairly long breakfast and dinner times made it possible to avoid excessive crowding of guests.

As for food, I want to say that the food at Belvedere 3* in Salou was still more varied and interesting. Although the good traditions of Spanish buffet were observed here too - everything is high quality and tasty. Drinks at dinner, as elsewhere on half board, are paid. You can take a bottle of wine and drink it for several days, you can take water or beer, you can take nothing. I took Sangria several times - cold, with pieces of fruit - another pleasant element of a Spanish holiday.

The location of the hotel is easy to assess on the map. You can measure the distances to the beaches, you can walk with a Google man. I did all this, but I was still afraid. Well, in fact, Las Vistas beach is really far away. 20 minutes at a brisk pace across varied terrain. For those who have difficulty moving, are traveling with small children, or plan to relax exclusively on the beach, breaking for lunch at the hotel, this can be a real disadvantage. Therefore, there are practically no small children in the hotel. But for adults and active people this is not a problem. We didn’t have many “beach” days, but we ended each day, both the “excursion” and the “beach” with a long walk along the sea, sometimes walking for two or three hours and reaching Fanabe beach in Costa Adeje. The road to the beach was perceived by us as the same walk through pleasant (but sometimes still hot) places.

Las Vistas beach is really very comfortable, spacious, with fairly light sand, a flat sandy bottom, but absolutely no toilets. I’m not even talking about changing cabins - I haven’t seen them in Spain. Both an umbrella and sunbeds are all 4 euros. It's cheaper than Salou. And, of course, there is a wide strip of sand available in front of the sunbed area for everyone who comes with towels, umbrellas, and sometimes tents. The ocean was invigorating, but many people swam. Topless sunbathers were spotted, but in small numbers. A cheerful man was carrying fruit along the beach; no other sellers were seen.

We went to sightseeing tour around the island with a visit to Teide, to La Gomera, on a boat trip, visited Loro Park and Siam Park. I liked everything.

We took a sightseeing tour from a tour operator, having, of course, overpaid a lot. But the day was very convenient for us, and we wanted to look around. Looking around, we realized that excursions were cheaper at street agencies. Near the Columbus Hotel we found excursion counters, at the very first of which there was a Bulgarian who spoke Russian quite well and offered good discounts. This is how ours turned out excursion program. They picked us up from Columbus, which was very convenient, and we traveled around La Gomera side by side with Anex’s group, with exactly the same program, only 25 euros per person cheaper (may Anex forgive me, who left only pleasant impressions about himself).

Siam Park in my personal rating took first place among all the water parks I visited. The park is simply buried in tropical vegetation, there are more sunbeds than visitors, cheesecakes in abundance, everything is beautiful, comfortable, and thought out. A two-tier “lazy” river – with an ascent, a slide and a tunnel under the aquarium. We couldn’t put it down, we rode three times and, of course, burned out, despite the guide’s warnings. Large wave pool with huge wave– another “trick” of the water park. Very fun and exciting. By the way, we reached the water park on foot. It’s about 15 minutes from our hotel. Uphill, of course. A free double-decker bus runs to Siam Park, another tourist attraction.

Not far from the hotel, under the already mentioned Columbus hotel, there is a SuperDino supermarket, where you can buy groceries, as well as all sorts of household items. Mercadona, beloved by many, is a 10-15 minute walk away, which is quite accessible if desired.

English is spoken all around the resort. People who own English, it will be very comfortable. And for those who do not speak or speak little, sign language, smiles and standard English-Spanish typing are enough - hello, thank you, sorry. The island has a very friendly atmosphere, people are relaxed and friendly. Probably because they live in a heavenly place.

Very friendly and customer oriented staff. Despite the fact that on the day of arrival they could not provide us with a room in accordance with our wishes - on a high floor and with a view of the sea, we were promised that they would be moved as soon as possible. And indeed, a day later we received a letter that such an opportunity had arisen and, if we had not changed our minds, we could move. By the way, the room on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool was also not bad, but of course we liked the room with a sea view more. It takes 15-20 minutes to get to the beach, but the road is pleasant and we were ready for it, and were even glad to walk after a hearty breakfast. We also most often had dinner at the hotel, because... At dinner, the choice of dishes was quite large - you could always find something you liked, and you were completely satisfied with the price-quality ratio. The hotel met all our expectations that we had according to the hotel description and reviews.

Disadvantages: poor sound insulation, noisy at night (music from bars and noise until 3 am with the balcony open); the nearest Troy beach is 15 minutes on foot along a short beautiful road through the park or 20 minutes along a dry river bed. We visited all the beaches, especially liked El Camison (20-30 minutes, golden sand), Troja and El Duke (far). 20-30 minutes to the Golden Mile. Linen and towels are not changed regularly. There were a lot of people having a rest at dinner, there were problems with seats. The restaurant is more like a canteen (what it lacks is compensated by delicious food), but WiFi is slow in the evening. Safe is paid, 2 euros per day. The sunbeds by the pool are fully occupied in the morning and throughout the day, which didn’t bother us too much, since we love swimming in sea water and walk along the shore. There is a TUI travel agency in the hotel lobby. We couldn’t use it because it didn’t coincide with him in time.

Spacious, bright room, equipped with everything you need, corresponds to the description, large bathroom (not a stall with a shower), bath accessories were regularly supplied, comfortable beds, you fell asleep by touching the pillow. Luxurious balcony with the letter G. We got a room, as requested, on the top floor with a view of the ocean, pool and mountain. 2 Russian TV channels. There are many cafes, supermarkets and restaurants around the hotel, but we hardly used them, because... We took breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Tasty, plentiful, varied (especially dinner), we always found something new, it’s not difficult to get better with such a choice. Not far from the Columbus Hotel - bus stop, where they picked us up on excursions. Opposite there is free public parking, which is not always free in the evening. Friendly staff. We were pleased with our vacation, thanks to the administration and staff.

Didn't notice any shortcomings worth mentioning.

The hotel is located in one of the busiest tourist places Tenerife - Playa de Las Americas. IN walking distance From the hotel there is an embankment with a huge number of bars, restaurants and clubs for every taste. Many different travel agencies, including Russian speakers. I got a very comfortable and quiet room overlooking the hotel courtyard with a swimming pool. Excellent breakfasts and dinners, a large selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, salads, meat and fish dishes.

There was no brush in the toilet, the air conditioner did not regulate the air direction (old).

The breakfasts were excellent, but something could be changed with some frequency. At least a little. The sea views are gorgeous. Dinners at the hotel are very decent, varied and not expensive. The staff is polite.

The hotel is large, so there are a lot of people at breakfast/dinner and very noisy. Apparently, due to the large number of rooms, during my absence they did not have time to clean the room; the maid sometimes came and at 15.30, of course, I had to refuse, so as not to clean it in front of me or not to leave again. 15 minutes walk to the beach.

Suitable for a budget holiday. Just three stars, reminiscent of a Soviet boarding house.

The room is dirty due to poor cleaning. They just make the bed and fold the towels. Poor sound insulation. There is no hood in the bathroom. The neighbors smoke, and the smell comes to us, although we do not smoke and our room was non-smoking.

Great location! Within walking distance of the bus station, city center, restaurants, beaches. There was a great view from the window of the ocean and the mountains. Breakfast is very filling and varied.

There was an agreement with the car rental company that the keys would be left at the hotel reception. On the day the keys were handed over to the reception, they expressed dissatisfaction that the rental company called them several times about these same keys. In general, this is part of the staff's job to provide informational assistance to clients. Therefore, irritation about receiving unnecessary calls is the usual laziness of a particular contractor. In general, the hotel management has much more to strive for in terms of staff training.

The hotel is located close to all necessary infrastructure. We stayed for 1 night, so this was a priority.

Very strange staff. If you take wine and beer at dinner, get ready to go to all the hotel cash desks, at each one you will be charged one euro: for beer, for wine, for a glass... In the next room there was a real renovation going on, when it subsided, a very nervous cleaning lady I cleaned the rooms so that the noise carried over several floors.

The best impression, of course, is from Tenerife itself. Everything that I wrote about the shortcomings is leveled out by nature. Ocean, sun, beaches, weather, parks, volcano. Check-in was quick, check-out was also quick. The beaches we went to are 1.2/1.5 km. It's normal to take a walk after breakfast. I liked the pool. Responsiveness of the reception staff. There is a room for sports. There are air conditioners in the rooms, although they are not new, but everything works. In general, we had a good rest, after our arrival I remember only good things. There is one Russian TV channel. Probably three stars is the correct assessment of the hotel. Price quality is ok.

HOTEL ROOM
Made a sad impression... The rooms are old and tired! The beds are bad, after them my back hurts and they are very stiff, the first 3 nights I woke up when I or my boyfriend turned over, the creaking was unbearable!!! Everything was shabby, unwashed, falling apart in places, but everything worked. There were a catastrophic lack of sockets, this is not the first time we have encountered this, so we take a tee with us, it really helped us out :-) We lived on the 3rd floor, overlooking the pool, the animation in the evening was disturbing... especially when it was karaoke until 12 at night... We were also unlucky with our neighbors: first there were French, then English Arabs moved in. For some reason, they thought that they lived in the hotel alone and could easily drink, argue and laugh on the balcony at night, and our balconies were only separated by frosted glass. I had to explain to the guys several times that people live around – it helped :-)))
HOTEL STAFF+WiFi
The staff is wonderful! We arrived around 12 at night, we were greeted, they left us dinner and packed lunches, it was VERY NICE! They gave us a room, we looked at it and asked to change it, it was really falling apart... They said that there were no rooms, but in 2 days they would be there and they would move us. We didn’t remind you and somehow got used to it, probably other rooms were in the same condition. But the staff remembered our request! And a couple of days later we found a note under the door in which we were offered to move if we didn’t change our minds... But we changed our minds, it was a pity to waste time and collect things.
Cleaning is normal, tips do not affect the quality in any way, we experimented ;-)
NO WiFi in the hotel!!! More precisely, it is so weak that it does not receive reception even near the reception (where the WiFi free sign hangs). But in our room (near the pool) he caught at night :-) So we suffered with him... We bought a local Lebara SIM card, but there is very little Internet there, practically no... Next to Catalonia Oro Negro there is a Chinese restaurant, they have delicious Sangria , large and tasty portions and super-fast WiFi. After dinner we went there, drank Sangria and surfed the Internet, there was no other way...
HOTEL-FOOD
The food was WELL! We had breakfast and dinner. Dinner - several types of meat and fish, there is a lot of everything, there is enough of everything, there is fruit, there is ice cream, there is not a lot of baked goods, but you can find something ;-) Drinks are all paid, but the waiters are not persistent - no, no... Breakfast is more modest, but There are also eggs/omelettes, fried bacon, sausages (tasteless), many different yoghurts, fruits, tea, coffee. Of course, after a week it gets boring, but it’s always like that :-))) Very convenient time, breakfast from 7-00 to 10-00, dinner from 18-30 to 22-00. You can eat early or later, very convenient!!!
HOTEL-LOCATION/TERRITORY
Convenient location for renting a car, nearby parking and highway. The beaches are a 15-20 minute walk away. If you go down to the beach, then to return to the hotel is up... inconvenient and far away. It’s just as long or further to get to entertainment. Our room was towards the ocean, but the ocean was far away and almost invisible. The hotel is 3 buildings standing like the letter “P”, inside the letter “P” is the hotel territory, it is small, the pool is small, but there are several levels, there is one for children. There is also a playground for children, but there are practically no children in the hotel.
WEATHER IN SEPTEMBER
The weather in September is quite comfortable. Moderately hot +26... +30, a refreshing breeze blows from the ocean, so several times it was even cool on the beach, especially when you come out of the ocean;-) Ocean +20...+22 - if it’s hot, then swimming is a pleasure, and if + 26 and a breeze - a little chilly... but this depends on the heat-loving nature, for some it may be quite acceptable.
EXCURSIONS
We visited LORO-park and SIAM-park – I liked it, it makes sense to visit;-)
We went out into the ocean to watch small whales – we liked it, although we took the cheapest excursion for 2 hours, which was quite enough for us. There are whales, we have seen whales!
We took an individual sightseeing tour of Tenerife from a private guide, not bad... comfortable, at least :-)
We rented a car for 6 days, went to the Teide volcano, to the Guimar pyramids, for shopping in Santa Cruz - in general, we traveled the whole island up and down :-)
GENERAL IMPRESSIONS
How is the dream of a Soviet man - the Canary Islands - a complete disappointment? I didn’t see anything SUCH there... But the impressions from the trip were good, probably because I didn’t expect anything SUCH, I read the reviews in advance;-) I’m not sure that I’ll go to Tenerife ever again... I saw everything there... but if If I go, I won’t stay at Catalonia Oro Negro... and I don’t recommend it to anyone... the hotel is too “tired”, terrible beds... I still want to get enough sleep and not suffer at night.
