Successful start for Air China

At the end of 1987, the Chinese government decided to disband the Chinese Ministry of Civil Aviation, resulting in the creation of six airlines, Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, China Northern, China Southwest and China Northwest. Air China inherited international and intercontinental routes and long-haul and medium-haul aircraft suitable for servicing such flights.

Air China began flying on July 1, 1988 and immediately became the country's main air carrier. Serving more than 60 domestic and international flights, the company was able to generate huge profits. The next year after its birth, Air China jointly founded the Ameco enterprise in Beijing for the maintenance of Boeing aircraft at the disposal of the Chinese carrier.

Working on your reputation

In the early 90s of the twentieth century, the Ministry of Civil Aviation of China set a course to raise the ratings of airlines whose reputation was tarnished by delays, flight cancellations and poor service during flights. To improve the situation, the Ministry developed an incentive program, under which Air China hired consultants from, known for its highly qualified personnel, and leased several Russian aircraft with pilots for flights on some routes.

Air China after deregulation of Chinese aviation

In 1994, the Chinese government decided to deregulate aviation, which led to foreign investment in airports and greatly simplified the import of aircraft. For Air China, this measure allowed it to expand its fleet, as well as increase passenger traffic and profits. However, competition has also become fiercer. Airlines from the Middle Kingdom have more than once had to enter into competition with such European airlines giants, like , whose plans included increasing the frequency of flights to Beijing. But the country's national carrier has withstood the competition with dignity every time, thereby strengthening its leading position.

IN further development Air China can highlight two main points: the absorption of several small airlines and entry into the European and Hong Kong stock markets. In 2007, the air carrier became a member of a major international alliance. Thanks to this, Air China customers have the opportunity to use the services of global carriers included in the alliance.

Ahead of the competition

In 2010, Air China was the first in its country to launch the sale of combined tickets. Such tickets entitle domestic passengers to bus transportation services in nearby cities and back. In 2011, the Chinese carrier again beat its closest competitors by being the first to provide wireless Internet access services on its flights.

Modern Air China

For its activities, Air China has repeatedly received prestigious prizes and awards. Today the company’s work is carried out in 4 areas:

Transportation of passengers and cargo;

Ground services: registration, boarding, VIP lounge services, hotel services, transit services and others;
