We vacationed at the Grecotel Creta Palace as a family (2 adults and 2 children) from 10.20-10.28.19 This is our third visit here. To be honest, it’s not bad, but Grekotel is not the same anymore!! Pros: -large and green area, -huge number of rooms, -always kind and smiling staff, -wonderful woman - artist at Atelier! Knows how to interest both children and adults. - wide beach. - always clean beach - the presence of a heated pool, and this turned out to be very important, since in a simple children’s pool with slides, children were freezing and could not stay there longer than 10-20 min., - good cuisine, but cannot be compared with the variety of dishes in 2012 and 2014!! Cons: -the rooms urgently need renovation! We lived in a family bungalow garden view. The furniture is stained! Dirty windows and curtains. A stained bed in the parents' bedroom. -cold water in the pools, but this is probably not thought out in this hotel. Children go to the pool with slides and run away from it, frozen. -cleaning...so-so... -guest relation work. To put it mildly, I was a little surprised! Let me make a reservation, we are regular guests of the Grecotel hotel chain. We were greeted, of course, with drinks and juices. We were shown to our room and forgot... Probably the end of the season, everyone was tired and everything is learned by comparison, but not once in 7 days did the girl from guest relations ask if we were happy with our vacation and if everything was fine with us. We are not scandalous and not stellar people . This didn’t bother us too much, but it did surprise us. This year we vacationed at the Grecotel Olympia oasis in the Peloponnese, where we encountered a completely different attitude and care! Every day the employee came up and asked if everyone was happy and if they needed help. A small thing, but nice! There is no such thing here! Meeting us at breakfast and lunch, the worker had no questions;) probably tired by the end of the season....;)) Another real problem turned out to be the neighbors smoking! We have a non-smoking family. The room was on the second floor and the door to the balcony could not be opened! Since the neighbors below regularly took a smoke break in their clearing. Honestly! It was very disturbing! I would probably suggest to the management to separate the rooms into smoking and non-smoking ones, especially since there are a lot of families with small children in the hotel. And another very small nuance and trifle. I already wrote above that this is our third stay at this hotel. I was a little surprised by this fact, don’t take it as picky. A Family Bungalow garden view room was booked. Of course, we understood that no one would put us in a room of the highest category and with a sea view :), although I want to make a reservation here... while vacationing in the same hotel in September 2014, we were very pleasant We were surprised when, instead of a Family Bungalow garden view room, we, as regular guests of Grekotel, were, as a bonus, placed in a room of the best category. Even with a view of the garden, but then this little thing was a very pleasant surprise. The room is many times larger! This time the managers strictly followed everything! The complex has a children's club Grecoland. In it you can leave a child from four years old under the supervision of experienced Russian-speaking animators. Younger children must be accompanied by their parents.

The child can choose from a special playground, sports games, competitions and a garden. In the evening there is a disco and themed entertainment evening: circus, opera, Greek party and much more.

The club is organized outdoors under a canopy, so no visitor will be too hot.

For teenagers there is a special program and a whole camp where the child can study English, play football or volleyball. But these services are paid.

For free you can go rock climbing, go to a modeling school or look at the stars through a microscope.

Parents can use the services of a nanny for a fee, and go to the golf academy, tennis court or swimming pool: with sea or fresh water/indoor. For children there is a shallow pool with slides. There are also several gyms with the latest equipment.

There is an Ayurvedic center with massage, SPA, sauna and hammam on site.

Beach

The Grecotel Creta Palace hotel is located 200 meters from the beach. The beach is wide, sand and pebbles with a gentle entrance.

Sun beds and umbrellas are free and there are almost always free ones. Beach towels are free and unlimited.

On the beach there is a paid bar with snacks, several showers and changing cabins. There are no breakwaters, which is a minus for children. Crete is characterized by frequent storms, so those who like to swim in calm seas may find it uncomfortable. Lifeguards are on duty on the shore every day.

Entertainment includes paid water skiing, diving and a catamaran.

The beach was marked Blue flag, that is, the territory complies with all environmental standards.

Location and surroundings

The airport is located forty kilometers from the hotel. You can get there by taxi in an hour, by bus – in an hour and a half.

There are several shops on the territory of the complex. A shop with Greek souvenirs and clothing, grocery, jewelry, children's. There is also a hairdresser.

The hotel is located near the center of Rethymno - a picturesque and original holiday destination for many tourists. Taking the bus or renting a car is your choice, but it’s worth noting: the stop is very close, a two-minute walk.
