I have never written a review before, however, after staying at the Palladium Punta Cana, I decided to leave my impressions of the holiday. First time in the Dominican Republic. Last year my friends vacationed in this hotel and recommended it. We were there at the end of July - beginning of August. The flight was long, but not difficult. At the reception we were met by very friendly people, some of whom, as it turned out later due to their work duties, speak a little Russian. The hotel area is incredibly clean, you won’t see a cigarette butt or pieces of paper anywhere. The sand on the beach is surprisingly white, the beach itself is also very clean, despite the large number of guests at the height of the day. In general, the territory of the hotel campus is huge, there are four separate hotels. You can freely walk around the territory, any restaurants and bars are open to you. I advise you to visit the Hemenguey bar and try cocktails. Also, be sure to try Dominican rum at the hotel, if you want to buy it for home, I took it from Ola’s shop, 4 minutes walk along the beach to the right. Regarding restaurants, be sure to look at how they work and whether they require a reservation in advance. The only negative is that many hotel employees (except for the reception) and locals do not speak English. I advise you to buy a Russian-Spanish phrasebook if you want to communicate with the locals. I guess everything, I hope, will be useful.

In principle, we wanted to live in a bungalow, in a large and cheerful hotel, so we chose the GRAND PALLADIUM BAVARO 5*.
I won’t tell you about the flight - everyone has different carriers anyway.
We got to the hotel in the evening, around eight. Checked in pretty quickly, the porter was cheerful.
Let me note that the hotel was built by drunken migrant workers, not a single level road except two maintenance ones. The paths paved with red stones wander so much that it is virtually impossible to find the desired house without a “susanin” - even on the maps that are every hundred meters, it’s hard to understand - and half the bungalows are not marked. Plus they are practically not illuminated. And since the houses are also the same, with the only difference being the statues at the entrance, you can walk past the one you need three times without finding it.
All the joy of the arrival ended with the cheerful porter.
We were placed on the first floor and the room was terrible. The shower did not work, the hose was simply torn off, the drain in the bathroom was clogged. When turned on, the electric kettle spewed boiling water and produced brown water - most likely someone had thought of warming up cold coffee. The safe did not work, the refrigerator did not close. But the air conditioning worked, thank you. In the dark and in upset feelings we went to dinner, but got a little lost. In general, somewhere on the third day you already find your bearings well, but in the dark I could take a wrong turn for another week.
After eating, we went to the reception, where they promised to fix everything. Yes, not change the number, but fix it. Here I would like to note the broad soul of the Dominicans. Reading reviews about this country, I always liked how they spoke about these always dancing, cheerful, friendly people. So far I have associated only Sri Lankans with this description - smiling but unobtrusive, good-natured people who will always help. The reality about the Dominicans turned out to be much more prosaic. They don't have their head in the clouds and don't smile when you go to a meeting. They're just lazy. If you interfere with their rest, communication with the staff, if you ask them to do work that they do not want to do, but must, they will look dissatisfied for a long time and for a long time. And this applies to everyone - the boys at the reception, bartenders, waiters, cleaners, etc.
They changed our room only the next day, but the new room did not have a kettle. Well, okay, we thought, the main thing is rest. But...
Due to a meeting with the guide and a change of room, we got to the beach around ten. This is not Türkiye, we thought naively, there is no need to take up sunbeds at seven in the morning. But in fact, at ten there was not a single free sun lounger on the beach, nor any umbrellas. I had to lie down on towels in the shade of a palm tree. And the shadow from a palm tree is very insidious, now it’s there, and then it’s gone, move two meters.
In general, the biggest disadvantage of this hotel is the poorly thought-out infrastructure and bottlenecks. Few sunbeds. There are even fewer umbrellas. But our people do not lose heart and climb under the already occupied umbrellas. And precisely ours. Once a married couple with three young children sat down with us and then snorted at the fact that my husband dared to smoke near their children. Oh well, that's their problem. We, taking into account the joys of the first day, occupied the sunbeds at half past six - we arrived just in time for sunrise and the cleaners. Around seven, the sun loungers closest to the bars and toilets were occupied, and by eight there were no longer any free ones. And yes, this is not Türkiye; your things, unattended, can end up in the pockets of enterprising Haitians.
There are four toilets on the beach. All. For all 4 hotels, for 4 thousand people, there are 4 toilets with three cubicles, which are cleaned for an hour four times a day. The result is queues. Alternative - run half a kilometer to your room or the sea)))
There are about 5 showers on the beach. Although the showers are flattery, they are actually a pole with a faucet. The result is a queue. There is only one bartender at the bar. The result is a queue. At breakfast there is one pancake master. The end, the complete collapse of thoughtfulness and the finale of the comedy of the holiday, was a burrito at one dinner in a regular restaurant - there were 3 people in line, each took two burritos, and when after 40 minutes the line came to me, I was very happy with the girl who, at the speed The snail filled the flatbreads with three ingredients. And yes, the burrito was cold.
Although the food was the only thing that really pleased me. For breakfast, fresh fresh juices - carom, pineapple, banana, lime with celery, multivitamins. Two stands with omelettes, one with pancakes.
Various meats - beef, chicken, turkey, pork. But there are few fish. In two weeks we only had king prawns once. No crabs, lobsters, mussels.
The fruits were familiar - apples, bananas, pineapples, tangerines, mangoes, oranges, pomegranates, peaches, but there were also unusual ones - passion fruit, guava, carom, papaya) There was always rice, potatoes, and there was a separate counter for spaghetti.
On each table there is a card, green on one side and red on the other. Come up and turn it over to the red side, this means that the table is occupied.
All drinks are brought by waiters.
During lunch, the main restaurants are not open - the restaurants on the beach are open. We found two of them. And the queues for food there are constant, regardless of the time of visit. But the gazpacho is delicious.
Ala carte restaurants are also good. Since we had a long vacation, we went to almost every one. I really liked the restaurant with the Show Chef, although we stood in line for an hour, Spanish, in a meat restaurant they carry different types of meat until you put a red sign that you are full. But here the dress code is no shorts or pareos.
In bars, pina coladas made from “snow”, cubelibra are chic, mojitos are sweet... And mamajuana is absolutely delicious, but it’s better not to take it home, in stores it’s not the same as in bars.
The SportsBar is open around the clock, there is pizza, two types of salads, buritas, tacos, chips, nuggets. You can eat, but you don't need to.
The hotel itself is huge. We even went into the so-called closed part, THE ROYAL SUITES 5*. Nobody drove us out of there. Their beach is fenced on the side of the hotel - there are different sunbeds there.
The SPA area turned out to be very pleasant, there is a long pool with different types of hydromassage. The break is not very convenient, from 13 to 15. Also a rather pleasant place is the Hemingway Bar, there is no smoking, there are tables for card games, and in the evenings a guy plays the piano. But it is only open in the evening.
It’s better not to go to the gym; the smell of scorched rubber and old exercise equipment are not pleasant. We sometimes heard animation, but did not see it.
Due to the large size of the hotel, there is a train running there. And although they say that the train runs every 15 minutes, we didn’t notice this. We never went for a ride - I didn’t want to stand in line.
A separate paragraph for the ocean. I've heard so much about golden beaches and blue water. The color is pleasing to the eye, yes. But near the shore the water is muddy - the sand rises. And you can’t sail further, about thirty meters away there are buoys, which are forbidden to swim behind because of scooter and windsurfing enthusiasts.
Somewhere in the middle of the vacation, my husband and I decided that if we didn’t ruin our vacation ourselves, no one would. And they began to turn a blind eye to the negatives and just relax. But I will tell anyone who is going to this hotel - this hotel is not worth the money they charge for it. The staff is lazy and rude, the rooms have broken plumbing and a centimeter layer of dust on the cabinets, the beach is cramped and not equipped for such a number of hotel visitors. And you can eat delicious food at home in restaurants, much cheaper.
Pros - food, spa area, Hemingway bar. Three unfortunate flamingos. Turtles.
Cons - Queues, staff, the game “get up at seven on vacation, take sunbeds,” rooms, infrastructure, and thousands of them!!!

Greetings everyone! So my wife and I visited Dominican Republic. (From 02/03/2012 to 02/16/2012) I’ll start with the flight, the Transaero flight took about 12 hours, we fed 2 times, it could have been better and more, but in principle we were satisfied with everything, we had read the reviews about the food in advance and took it with us some sandwiches and fruits, but in general, anyone who is not obsessed with food will not die of hunger, and water and juice were given without problems, then on the plane there were monitors that showed films, cartoons, and what is most interesting is the cartographic location of where we are flying, altitude, temperature overboard, speed, distance to Punta Cana and the third channel showed an image from the camera at the bottom of the plane....More ▾ Greetings everyone! So my wife and I visited the Dominican Republic. (From 02/03/2012 to 02/16/2012) I’ll start with the flight, we flew Transaero for about 12 hours, we fed 2 times, it could have been better and more, but in principle we were satisfied with everything, we had read the reviews about the food in advance and took it with us some sandwiches and fruits, but in general, anyone who is not obsessed with food will not die of hunger, and water and juice were given without problems, then on the plane there were monitors that showed films, cartoons, and what is most interesting is the cartographic location of where we are flying, altitude, temperature overboard, speed, distance to Punta Cana and the third channel showed an image from the camera at the bottom of the plane. The first bright and positive emotions, when, as the plane descends, you can see a turquoise-colored coastal spit... :) After landing, we see a cheerful airport in the local style, such as huts covered with palm leaves, and then, when all almost 400 people begin to rush and push towards the stoics a little it’s a little sad, well, it doesn’t last long, the whole passage through the arrivals area, if not for the crowd, would have taken a maximum of 5 minutes, it includes a payment of $10 for a passage of 50 meters, showing a receipt, a stamp in the passport and receiving luggage :) Then we went to desks of tour operators, approached ours (Tez Tour), they asked us what hotel we were in, after which they told us where and which bus to get on, waited about fifteen minutes until everyone got ready and set off on a journey that lasted about an hour, although we drove about 30 kilometers at most, from -due to the fact that our hotel (Grand Palladium Punta Cana) was assigned as the fourth in the order of arrivals, and each arrival was delayed by 15 minutes. But it’s not scary in advance of rest and only positive things! From the bus window, except for a narrow path and forest thickets, there is almost nothing interesting.
I’ll start with the Grand Palladium Punta Cana hotel, I would give the hotel 4 no more, but in general the most important thing is what room and where it is located, we purchased the cheapest promo - and we did the right thing, because for 100 dollars, after a short trade that began from 280 dollars, we were given a room in the fourth building on the second floor 4128 and, as it turned out later, this hotel has one of the best options.
The room, of course, is not new, but also not shabby, as I read many places... everything worked, contents: jacuzzi, shower, double bed, regular TV, safe, coffee maker, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, balcony... in general, everything you need and even more... they clean well every day, regardless of whether there is a tip or not, the minibar is replenished every day, but the cleaning time varied from day to day, sometimes in the morning from 8-10, during this period we had breakfast and sat on the Internet at the reception. Or during the day at 2 o'clock. In this beautiful country we met three couples from Russia Ira and Michael, Igor and Tanya with Nizhny Novgorod and Zhenya and Olya from Moscow (huge greetings to all of them!) We visited their rooms - this is the Palace, the neighboring Punta Cana building, they have almost everything the same, the main thing is that everything worked and everything suited everyone. Well, then the rest itself... ! ! !
This is great!!! The ocean, something indescribable, I advise everyone to go there! Especially who doesn’t like intense heat... the temperature is always comfortable there, and if it’s even a little hot, you can always swim in the refreshing ocean (water t 22-24) in winter, and as the locals say in the summer from April t 25-27, it doesn’t happen anymore, but again, who likes warm water 28-30 is not here. Out of 14 days there were a couple of cloudy ones and it rained almost every night, but by 10 am there was nothing to remind us of it. The food, in principle, is without any special frills, but very good, there were days when in our restaurant (“ buffet "or the dining room, as we later began to call them) not very well-stocked, but we didn’t hesitate to go to the neighboring one and there was always an excellent selection there, even at closing time, and vice versa... In general, for breakfast everything was the same as everywhere else, eggs in any form, porridge, cereal.., vegetables, fruits (not a very large selection and not super tasty - relative to Thailand, but really nothing..), and a couple of days a week dry champagne, I only knew which evening I could indulge in alcohol, since in the morning your health will be improved... J Lunches are also without anything special, a couple of types of meat, not always fried, chicken cutlets, side dishes, pizzas, pastas... soups, ice cream, cakes... But in the evening it’s more interesting, or themed evenings in those same canteens, or ala carte, I’ll say right away that there’s nothing to do in Marenostrum, but the rest are worth visiting, the Japanese one is not bad, there’s a chef’s show, and it’s not bad either. the most important thing is everything is tasty and fried J, Chinese is not bad, seafood on the shore in Bavaro. You can have a snack 24 hours a day in the sports bar near the Bavaro reception. In general, you definitely shouldn’t go hungry! Unless, of course, you are super-duper gourmets... then you need to look for a hotel at least 40 thousand more per person. Remember that, in principle, this hotel is not a bad four, even though it says 5! From entertainment on site, everything that is written in the hotel description on any website. In the evening there are various events in the amphitheatres, such as star shows, Michael Jackson - this is what I recommend watching, a disco until 2 am. There is live music in the lobby every evening. . It is worth noting their music: bachata, merengue, regaeton.. (Aventura, Don Omar, Zacarias Ferreira...) cheerful, simple, not forcing anything... everything for relaxation J Tranquilo - relaxation in Spanish, something like that, if I haven’t messed anything up. The cocktails are not bad in the Hemingway bar on the territory of Bavaro, for me, I’m not particularly a lover and understander of cocktails, in all other bars I was happy with the alcohol, the main thing is to explain what to mix and with what in what proportions. Regarding the service, I didn’t notice any slowness and neglect without tipping, everything is quite decent and fast, with a smile and sometimes dancing and singing J But about tipping, this is such a thing if you train them, they will get used to it over time, and that’s what happens , since I myself saw how dudes, just for pouring them a cocktail and giving them 5 and 10 dollars, maybe of course they have wagons of money, but I think this is not so, just pathos... and you can give 1 dollar each and then when to They’ve already brought something to your table a couple of times and they understand you well what you need, everything else is worthless showing off. There are few Russian people in the hotel, 10-15 percent of the total number of vacationers, respectively, they don’t know the Russian language, except for a couple of expressions, but they are already trying to remember what, it’s better to know English, of course, and best of all, at least a little Spanish, but even without a language you can . Internet (Wi-Fi) in the lobby is free, but when there are a lot of people, the speed is not very good, and sometimes even 0. Sun loungers on the beach, and we almost always just lay there for days, it’s better to reserve until 8, 30 later there may not be places with shade, This was not a problem for us, because... we lived next to the beach and there is a 13-hour difference from our homeland. We always woke up at 7 o’clock, and at first it was generally at 3 in the morning, and it cut off at 9 in the evening. In general, the sunbeds themselves can always be found without problems. The people selling on the beach weren’t too annoying, if you’re not interested, you just refuse and they immediately leave. If you meet Sasha, he usually offers fishing near the pool in Punta Cana, say hi, he speaks Russian quite well, and is generally a cool guy... J Regarding excursions, we went to the capital of Santo Domingo with an awesome guide Antonina (Tez Tour ) she has been living in the Dominican Republic for 33 years, so her stories were very interesting and informative, I recommend it to everyone! Then we raced on ATVs - nothing special, snaking after each other at low speed, but I wanted to race L, but I don’t recommend using a buggy, you’ll be covered in mud from head to toe. The remaining excursions are Saona, Samana…. we left it for next time J Well, that seems to be all I wanted to tell. I advise everyone to visit this wonderful country! I recommend Palladium hotels. If you have any questions, ask, ask, I’ll be happy to tell you what I know.

The hotel is not new, but very cozy, green and large .The ongoing reconstruction of one pool didn’t bother us at all, we didn’t notice it. The rooms are cleaned well, regardless of whether you gave a tip or not. The food is varied and tasty everywhere. I recommend visiting the Brazilian and Japanese a la carte restaurants. The cocktails are the most delicious in the bar Hemingway. there is also champagne and cognac. Beautiful evening shows: costumes, dancing. The only drawback is that they are conducted in English, Spanish and French... Everywhere there is a friendly, calm atmosphere, everyone smiles, greets each other with their cheerful and kind “ola” .We just visited a fairy tale...

We flew with Air France. I really liked the flight, despite the fact that it was long and had a transfer, it was absolutely not tiring, the company’s service was at the highest level, both food and service, the flights were all on schedule. So the flight there and back was very easy. We ordered tickets ourselves on the Internet, ordered a children's menu for the child and seats on the plane. We received what we ordered. The child was brought a special menu, luxurious, with fruits, sweets and even small gifts on a large plane to the Dominican Republic from Paris.
I really liked the hotel right away. It was not the most expensive of the proposals considered, there were hotels much more expensive, but this hotel did not disappoint us. Firstly, its big plus is its large territory. It would be even more correct to say huge. We didn't cover everything in 12 days. The complex consists of three hotels plus the VIP hotel Royal Suites. The territory and all infrastructure are common to all hotels in the complex, except for the Royal Suites services. They have a couple of their own restaurants and bars, which guests of other hotels are not allowed to enter. But there are enough places to go even without them. A train runs through the complex. If you don’t want to walk (although it’s also not that far, about 15 minutes to the Bavaro Hotel), then you can get anywhere by train in a couple of minutes.
We lived in block 2000. There are Euro sockets but the voltage is 110 volts! If you need an adapter, they are sold in any store in the complex. There were no problems with settlement. We booked a deluxe promotional room. This is how we found out later, the simplest numbers are not the most best location. At first we were accommodated on the first floor, it was very damp there. At the reception, without any problems, within half an hour they changed our room to the third floor since there were no second floors, for a not very large additional fee. They have these rooms with ocean views and they charge 15 dollars for it. per day additionally. We exchanged it for half the price and plus a little extra. day, the satisfied reception manager gave us a gift - a bottle of rum and fruit. Small thing but nice.
The rooms are good. As for the interior and decoration, in Turkey and Egypt in good hotels the rooms looked richer. But we don't bother too much with it. Since we spend little time in the room. Yes, the rooms are not very new. But literally on the second day you don’t pay attention to this, they are spacious and the room has everything you need, including an iron with ironing board and a coffee machine. It's very convenient. You get up before dawn, drink your morning coffee on the terrace and go to the beach. Mini bar (beer, cola, Fanta, Sprite and drinking water) is replenished every day, as well as coffee and tea.
The bathroom has a Jacuzzi and all the necessary accessories, even disposable razors. There are rooms with a Jacuzzi in the room, this is for romantics or newlyweds. Room cleaning is good and thorough. Towels are changed every day. It's true that tips do not affect the quality of cleaning. They will clean it well anyway. We left, but not every day. A couple of times they made beautiful figures out of towels for us. Another distinctive feature of cleaning there is that every day the bathroom is decorated with freshly picked beautiful red flowers.
People leave books they have read in the lobby, so if you forget what you read, you can always find something to read. There were many books and magazines in Russian.
The hotel itself and the entire complex are located on the territory of a tropical garden with coconut trees. You can ask the gardener and for $1 he will pick and cut up a fresh coconut for you.
The food is just great. Very varied and very tasty. They have no shortage of restaurants. We didn’t have time to visit all the restaurants during our stay. A very good restaurant next to the pool and beach for breakfast and lunch. From our building we went straight to the restaurant, and there you were practically on the beach. Very convenient. For dinner we either went to the main restaurant of the Bavaro hotel, there was much more choice there. Or in A la Carte restaurants. We've been to the Japanese restaurant twice, there's a la carte, sushi or a chef's show, but you have to sign up for it at 6 pm on the same day. The food there is very tasty, both according to the menu and I really liked the chef’s show. I also recommend the Spanish restaurant, very tasty and elegant. We celebrated my husband's birthday there and were very pleased. We were also in Brazilian and Mexican. It’s very tasty and interesting to visit Brazilian. First you take the appetizers from the buffet, then the meat service begins. Several types of grilled meat and fish are carried on large skewers in turn. They offer until you turn the card on the table over to the red side. This means you won't eat meat anymore. Then they bring the dessert menu. Mexican is also good, Mexican dishes, well prepared, but many of them are spicy. But there is a separate menu for children. In general, in this hotel you can find dishes for every taste. They even have a Russian salad (similar to Olivier), and by the way, it’s very good. All types of meat - pork, veal, chicken; fish, seafood cooked in in different forms– stewed, fried and baked, whatever your heart desires. At the Bavaro Hotel there is a themed menu for dinner every day - Italian, Spanish, Dominican, International, etc. kitchens. There are always several types of pizza (very tasty) in all restaurants for lunch and dinner.
For breakfast, freshly squeezed juices, including papaya, pineapple, banana, watermelon, melon, mix, and even vegetable juices. They are in decanters; we didn’t notice them right away. In addition, the machines also have good juices, orange, and a couple of other types, not Jupi! The waiters pour the coffee, and the coffee is also very tasty. There was no champagne (as we read in the reviews before the trip) for breakfast!
Fruits - watermelons, melons, papaya, mango, passion fruit, pineapples. Wine for lunch and dinner is poured from bottles, the wine is very good, dry Chilean, red and white. Very tasty beer. I really liked the service in the restaurants. If you don’t have time to enter a restaurant, they’ll come right up to you and set the table if more person will offer drinks. There are always plenty of free tables in restaurants, everything is always clean, set and tidy. When entering restaurants, hands are treated with antibacterial liquid.
It’s also not a problem to get into Ala Carte restaurants. There is no pre-registration (except for Japanese at the chef's show). If you arrive before half past seven in the evening, you can always sit down straight away. If there are no free tables, they give you a pager that will light up when a table becomes available. Usually you wait no more than 30-40 minutes. During this time you can go to a bar and have a cocktail. Everything they do in this regard is very thought out, there is no rush or crowd. Please note that there is a dress code for dining in restaurants; trousers or Bermuda shorts are required for men; shorts are not allowed.
The Lobby Bars make very tasty cocktails. Cocktails with rum, Mojito, banana mama, and pina colada are also very popular and also delicious. There is live music in the lobby every evening.
On the beach there are kiosks with drinks and the same cocktails. There is no bar as such to sit at a table, you take drinks to the beach.
There is a children's club and a club for teenagers (called Black and White). The second one saved us a lot. There are game rooms (Play Station, Xbox, and other game consoles, a large selection of games on disk), there is billiards and small tennis. The club is for children from 10 years old, but they are also allowed at 8-9. There are a lot of Russians in this hotel. Our son met some Russian boys and they spent the afternoon at this club. There are animators there, for older children, who watch the children and also play games with them near the pool, sometimes organizing competitions. For small children there is its own animation, we saw a girl on the beach with small children, she also studied and played with them. Everyone speaks Spanish or English. But we didn’t have any problems with this because we are fluent in English.
There is a big one playground, a couple of tennis courts, a football field, volleyball, tables for small tennis.
A very beautiful pond with flamingos near the reception of the Bavaro Hotel. There is also a smaller pond near the Palladium Palace.
There is a sports bar, open 24 hours a day, where you can always have a snack or drink. But we never got to it :) Located opposite the pond with flamingos on the territory of the Bavaro Hotel. There’s also a little further if you go through the Club for Teenagers that I wrote about. The pools are large and beautiful, but we didn’t swim, only the child ran, so I can’t say anything.
There are good shows in the evenings. There are two amphitheaters, there is also a bar there, waiters go around offering drinks, which is very convenient. You watch the show and sip a cocktail.
The staff is mostly very friendly, everyone smiles and says hello. There, the main key to a tourist’s success is a smile. If you smile, you will be greeted with joy. There were a couple of times when I walked in the evening with my child, if electric cars servicing the Royal Suites or other cars servicing the complex were driving, they always stopped and offered a ride.
The animation in this hotel is very good, both on the beach and by the pool. Exercises, dance lessons, volleyball, football on the beach, beach games, competitions are held. Whoever wins games and competitions during the day, the winners are awarded in the evening before the show in the amphitheater. Adults are given a bottle of rum or coffee, children are given caps. My son and I won twice and received coffee and a cap with the hotel logo as a gift.
But the most impressive thing there, of course, is the ocean, the beach and very beautiful nature. It's worth going there for this reason. Due to the time difference, we got up early and were on the beach at seven in the morning or even earlier. In the morning it is especially beautiful there, there are almost no people, the ocean is very beautiful, an extraordinary turquoise color, all this is beautifully combined with a delightful dawn and small clouds in the sky. The water is very warm. The sand is really white, you walk into the sea as if you were walking on a carpet. When we were there, there were no waves, the ocean was warm and gentle. Great for children. It's shallow near the beach. So there is somewhere to swim for both adults and children.
The beach is good, there are a lot of sunbeds, but to get a good place in the shade, you need to take sunbeds early in the morning. I arrived at half past six, and the most good places in the shade closer to the ocean were already occupied! Although you can always find a place and a sunbed there, even if you arrive later. But it will either be the end of the beach or in the sun. The sun is very active, you get sunburned in no time, we took a cream with protection 50, we didn’t get sunburned even once and still got a good tan.
As for the time difference, it is very noticeable and even by the end of the holiday we had not fully adapted. You wake up very early, but in the evening by 10 o’clock you already want to sleep terribly.
The climate there is really very damp, you hang up towels or a wet swimsuit and they don’t dry, so you have to take clothes with the expectation that you can wash them there as little as possible.
We were afraid of getting into the season of tropical downpours, which we had read about since we were traveling in the summer. We were not very lucky with the weather in the first three days after our arrival. The rains were quite frequent and prolonged, but as we were told, we were caught in a cyclone that arrived there just a couple of days before our arrival. Three days later the weather improved, it was hot and not a drop dropped. Although even when it rains, it is still warm, and after the rain there are no traces of it after a couple of minutes. Once we waited out such a downpour on the beach under an umbrella.
As for excursions and souvenirs, they are all very expensive. We were on the island of Saona, in the Caribbean Sea. They promised very beautiful nature there. But we were not particularly impressed, the beach is no worse than in the hotel, and the sea is knee-deep so you can only take a dip and swim there. Lunch was included, so-so. So this excursion is not worth the money paid.
As for souvenirs, cigars and rum, we read that they are very cheap there, but I wouldn’t say so, good cigars and rum are not so little there. Although you can bargain with them. Popular souvenirs from the Dominican Republic include rum, cigars, coffee and jewelry made from their national stone, Larimar.
The only thing that slightly darkened our holiday was the loss of our mobile phone. They forgot it in the lobby, returned 15 minutes later and there was already no trace of it, they didn’t give anything to the reception and there were no tourists in the lobby at that time. Very strange. We have forgotten things more than once while on vacation, and we always found them at the reception without any problems. But the country is poor, and as I understand it, if someone has forgotten something, then the owner of these things is the one who found them. Most likely one of the staff. So keep an eye on things, don't forget anything. I also heard from people that they read about such cases of theft in this hotel. Although they left an expensive camera on the beach when they went swimming, money and nothing was ever lost. But there are tourists there, a lot of foreigners who usually would never take anything. But in any case, you need to be on your guard.
Nevertheless, we were very pleased with our vacation. This is a country where you want to return, because the nature and views there are indescribably beautiful, you feel as if you are in heaven. Upon arrival home, the negativity faded away, but the nostalgia for the Dominican Republic remained. Next year, if possible, we will go again, although we try not to go to the same place twice. As for the hotel, I would gladly relax there again. Moreover, there are still many places where we have not had time to visit. So if you choose this hotel, I think you will be satisfied. Everyone have a nice holiday and positive emotions.
