Sandy beaches of Montenegro for families with children. The best sandy beaches in Montenegro for relaxation. Rivieras in Montenegro

Before my vacation, I, like many tourists, read reviews about Montenegro and its beaches. But unfortunately I discovered that there is very little information that interests me about the beaches, so I want to tell you, I hope it will be useful to someone;)

During our two weeks in Montenegro, we visited a number of beaches. I'll start in order:

1. Slovenian beach.

Located directly in Budva, small pebbles mixed with large ones. Entrance to the beach is free, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (we didn’t find out the prices, since we didn’t rent). It’s better to go to the left to swim, where the sea is much cleaner than towards the old city and port. Been there twice (the first and last days), both times lay on the bedspread, free of charge. There are a lot of people, especially on weekends, a lot local population. I don’t recommend lying down near the water, you will lie like a herring in a jar and people from the back rows will literally step on your head to get to the water. We were lying in the back rows, it was more comfortable there. The water is clean (I repeat, this is to the left, towards Becici).

If you go towards the Old Town and the port, the water is much dirtier, we were just passing by there.

2. Beaches Mogren 1 and Mogren 2.

Located behind the Old Town in Budva. Both beaches are small pebbles. Mogren 2 has fewer people than Mogren 1, but still a lot. Entrance to the beach is free, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (we didn’t find out the prices, since we didn’t rent). We were unlucky and were lying on a blanket near the water. Since there were a lot of people, people constantly walked past us and covered us with pebbles. This did not spoil the impressions, but I advise you to try to take a place further away, so that you don’t pass by, but you walk past others to the water;) The water is much cleaner than on the Slovenian beach. Been there once.

3. Beach Richardova Chapter.

You can get to the beach directly from the Old Town of Budva. The beach is free, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (we didn’t find out the prices, since we didn’t rent), small pebbles. I didn’t like it at all, I’m glad we were only there for a couple of hours. The bottom of the sea is terrible, huge muddy rocks. It is better to enter the sea from the side, near the wall of the old city, there is a ladder there. Unfortunately we didn't take a photo.

4. Kamenovo Beach.

From Budva about 7 minutes by bus, to famous island Sveti Stefan. The stop is called Kamenovo. The bus may not stop there, so follow the map where to get off and if the bus does not slow down, ask the driver to stop. The fare is 1.5 euros per person one way. You can also get to the beach on foot from Rafailovichi beach (located in the village of the same name) through a pedestrian tunnel. So we went back to Budva. It’s a little closer to Rafailovici and the ticket will cost 1 euro per person one way.

The Kamenovo beach itself is free, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (we didn’t find out the prices, since we didn’t rent), small pebbles. There are half as many people as on Slovenska Beach. Finding a place to lie down on a towel was no problem. The sea is blue, transparent, clean.

5. Przno Beach

From Budva it takes 8 minutes by bus to the famous island of Sveti Stefan. This is the next beach after Kamenovo. The fare is 1.5 euros per person one way. The beach is free, umbrellas and sunbeds are paid (two sunbeds and an umbrella 50 euros, I saw a sign on the beach). We were lying on a towel, small pebbles. The crowd is average, there is very little room for sunbathing on a towel. In the morning on the beach the sun shines at your back, so you can lie down and look at the sea without wincing. The sea is clean, there are a lot of private boats. However, for sunbathers, and that’s me, it’s not very comfortable to lie with your head towards the sea.

From Przno you can walk to Sveti Stefan beach, along a path between pine trees, in the shade. Very beautiful views They will open for you, you can sit down and have a small picnic.

6. Sveti Stefan Beach.

From Budva it’s about 10 minutes by bus to the famous island of Sveti Stefan. The fare is 1.5 euros per person one way. To the right of the island is the hotel beach, they are not allowed there. Left of the island free beach, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (we didn’t find out the prices, since we didn’t rent). At the very beginning of the beach there are large pebbles; lying on a towel is not very comfortable. If you go to the left, the pebbles will be small, we liked it better there. One of the most beautiful beaches of the Budva Riviera. We liked it the most. The sea is azure, very clean and beautiful. There are three, or even four times less people than on the Slovensko and Mogren beaches.

7. Yaz Beach.

It takes about 7 minutes by bus or taxi (towards Kotor) We took a taxi for 3 euros for two one way. The bus costs 2 euros for two one way. The beach is free, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (we didn’t find out the prices, since we didn’t rent), it’s very large, there are a lot of people, but if you go to the left again, there will be half as many people. The pebbles were medium, lying on the towel was comfortable. The sea is clean.

If you go completely to the left, there will be very few people, but among them we saw half of the nudists, so we decided to go back a little))))

8. Trsteno Beach.

The next beach after Jaz beach. We went there in the evening in a rented car. We didn't swim, we just looked. The beach itself is free, sunbeds and sunbeds are paid, but there is no place to lie down on your own towel, everything is filled with sunbeds. It is better to come to this beach with small children, as it takes a very long time to walk to the depths. The beach is very small, small pebbles, the sea is blue and clean.

9. Ploce Beach.

The next beach after Trsteno beach. We went there in the evening in a rented car. We didn't swim, we just looked. The beach itself is concrete, there is no place to lie down on your own towel, everything is filled with sun loungers, and I think lying on concrete is not very comfortable. There is a pool on the beach that is filled sea water. The music is playing loudly, it feels like you are at a party. You cannot bring your own food and drinks, only buy them at the bar.

Red Beach.

The name of this beach speaks for itself. Stepping onto the beach, you will immediately notice that the sand here is red. And this does not interfere with your vacation, but only makes it more colorful.
This red beach is located between Sutomore and Bar in a small bay. And the holiday here is wonderful in every way. The beach itself is not that big, so tourists rarely visit it. And those who have visited prefer to stay here until the end of their vacation.
Many tourists don't understand how the sand turned red. The answer here is simple - the sand is simply mixed with corals, which have a red tint and transmit it to the sand. So there is nothing supernatural or unusual here.

The beaches of Montenegro are very diverse, so here you will find both pebble beaches and sandy ones. Almost everything popular resorts Montenegro has sandy beaches, but these beaches are not always located right in the center of the resort.

Where are the sandy beaches in Montenegro? You will find such beaches along the entire coast of Montenegro from Herceg Novi in the north to Ulcinj in the south. Beaches with sand are not uncommon in Montenegro, but they are usually quite popular among families with children and other people. So, as a rule, the sandy beaches of Montenegro are not suitable for a relaxing holiday.
Below we will present you Montenegro resorts with sandy beaches.

Sandy beaches of Montenegro

Herceg Novi

There are several sandy beaches in the area of this city. The first of these is Sutorina, which is located a few kilometers west of the city. The second name of this beach is Blatna Plaza. Note that its sand has healing properties.
Also a good sandy beach is Zhorovicha beach. This is not a very popular beach, so you can relax here in a relatively calm environment.

Kotor

Almost all beaches in the Kotor area are pebbly, and only Ljuta beach has a sandy surface. It is located in the north of Kotor district, approximately 8 km from the city center. Lyuta offers quite good conditions for a relaxing holiday.

Tivat

Unlike Kotor, the neighboring city of Tivat and its surroundings have many sandy beaches. One of them is Selyanovo. Although this beach is quite rocky, there is a section of sand. The beaches of Opatovo and Kalardovo in the Tivat area are also covered with sand, although not completely.
But still, the best sandy beach in the Tivat area is the Blue Horizons beach, which is located next to the famous hotel complex Blue Horizons. This is a fairly wide and almost completely sandy beach, where a large number of young people and families with children relax.

Budva

The Budva Riviera can offer you some very nice sandy beaches. The first one is famous beach Jaz, which is located just west of Budva. This is a popular and well-equipped beach, which attracts a large number of tourists and local residents. Despite its remote location from the center of Budva, the beach can be crowded during peak season.
Near Jaz there is a small sandy beach called Trsteno, but we would not recommend it for families with children due to the rather steep seabed.
Ploce Beach, located near Budva, has rocky and sandy parts. Its isolated location allows for a tranquil atmosphere, although this beach can get crowded during peak season.
Mogren Beach, which is located in the very west of Budva, 200 meters from the Old Town, is covered with pleasant fine sand. Like Trsteno beach, Mogren has a rather steep entrance to the sea.
Slavic beach in Budva is considered mainly pebble, but still we could not help but mention this beach due to the fact that it is one of the most famous in Montenegro. There is sand on this beach, but still this beach cannot be called sandy.
Unlike Slavic Beach, Becici Beach has a fairly large amount of coarse sand, therefore it is included in the list of sandy beaches in Montenegro. This is one of best places for families with children, since the sand strip here is quite wide, and the entrance to the sea is not as steep as on some other beaches. It is also worth noting that on Becici beach the water is mostly calm, and near this beach there are several good all-inclusive hotels, perfect for family vacation.
To the east of Becici there is Kamenovo beach, which is mainly covered with sand. Even further south are the sandy beaches of Crvena Glavica and Perazica.
The beaches of Petrovac and Lucice are considered one of the most popular sandy beaches in Montenegro. They are located in the very south of the Budva Riviera.

Bar

The Bar Riviera is not as rich in sandy beaches as the Budva Riviera, but here you can also find good places for a family holiday. The best of them, in our opinion, is the sandy beach of Sutomore. Another sandy beach in the area is Red Beach, but it is unlikely to be suitable for families due to the presence of rocks.

Ulcinj

In the Ulcinj area, the best sandy beach is the Great Beach. This is the longest beach in Montenegro, the length of which exceeds 10 km. It is covered in fine gray sand and is known for its high waves. Since this is a fairly long beach, you can easily find a place for a relaxing holiday here.
The beach on the island of Ada Boyana is also covered with sand, but this beach is mainly for nudists and lovers of a relaxing holiday. About nothing mass tourism there is no question here.

The best sandy beach in Montenegro

As you can see, there are quite a lot of sandy beaches in Montenegro. If you want to choose the best sandy beach in this country, then we recommend paying attention to Becici beach, since it is a fairly wide and well-equipped beach, next to which there are many restaurants, cafes, and hotels. The proximity to Budva is also a big advantage.

A country famous for its magnificent clean beaches. We can say that the beaches are one of the main reasons for its popularity among tourists, so the state carefully monitors the condition of the coastal zone.

Beach Features

There are practically no private beaches, but there are “closed areas”. For example, only guests of local hotels or restaurant visitors can access the beach of Sveti Stefan Island.

Entrance to all beaches is free for everyone (with the exception of a few elite beaches). The government prohibits hotels from even building decorative fences.

Sun beds and umbrellas on the beaches of Montenegro are paid. Having tanned once, you can sunbathe comfortably all day long.

Types of beaches

The length of the coastline of Montenegro is more than 70 kilometers, so there are beaches for every taste. There are three main types: sand, pebble and concrete (on pontoons).

1. Sandy beaches in Montenegro are a rarity. Almost all of them are located in the south of the country, near Ulcinj, and are of artificial origin. The cleanliness of such beaches depends on the number of tourists.

2. Pebble beaches in Montenegro they are more common than others, which is not surprising - the country is mountainous! The size of the pebbles ranges from very small to large cobblestones.

3. The concrete beaches of Montenegro no longer surprise anyone. Many people purposefully choose them because it is very convenient to go down to the sea using a ladder, and lying on a flat, warm surface is more practical than on sand or rocks. Tourists also note the steep descent into the water: you don’t have to walk hundreds of meters into the sea.

In Montenegro, beaches are usually divided into Rivieras. Their names usually coincide with the name of the nearest major city. Each Riviera is unique.

Budva Riviera

The Budva Riviera includes: Budva, Rafailovici, Becici, Petrovac, Sutomor, Sveti Stefan and Milocer. Local beaches sandy, with good infrastructure. It is in the Budva Riviera that the most expensive beach of the King and Queen is located (entrance costs more than 50 euros per person).

Kotor Riviera

The main cities of the Kotor Riviera: Kotor, Perast and Risan. The beaches here are mostly concrete, but this is compensated by stunning scenery and an interesting cultural program. Boat trips and trips on cruise ships are very popular.

Hercegnovskaya Riviera

The Hercegnovskaya Riviera includes Herceg Novi, Igalo, Melina and Kumbor. The beaches here are different: from sandy to large-pebble. The Hercegnovskaya Riviera is famous for its mineral springs, healing mud and many health resorts.

Ulcinj Riviera

Ulcinj Riviera is the southernmost and hottest region of Montenegro on the border with Albania. Local beaches are sandy, unprotected from the sun by mountains and forests (as in other regions). The Ulcinj Riviera is famous for its proximity to Albania and its beautiful olive groves.

Riviera Bar

The Bar Riviera is perhaps the most unusual region of Montenegro. The city of Bar is a large business and industrial center with office blocks and a commercial port. There are fewer tourists here than, for example, in Budva or Tivat, so prices are lower. The beach in Bar is pebbly, there are few swimmers. Tourists come here mainly for shopping.

Riviera Tivat

The city of Tivat is a young and still relatively “free” resort; there is enough space on the beaches for everyone. There are few beaches in Tivat itself, but there are more than enough in the area. Most of them are pebbly.
