Tourist bass in Madrid. Sightseeing bus in Madrid - routes. Tourist Travel Pass zone T is additionally valid

The easiest way to see the sights of Madrid - Madrid City Tour, or in other words Bus Turistic - a system of tourist buses plying around the city. This type of transport is available in many large European cities - I first became acquainted with it through the example of Madrid (and accordingly, I will talk specifically about the Madrid version of the bass tourist).
UPD: I was told here that Madrid City Tour and Bus Turistic are still two different operators. In Madrid, only City Tour is available, so upon request Bus Turistic only gives it out. That’s actually why I call them this and that - they are synonyms. But let's say in Barcelona - these are different things. We need to go there too and have a look =)

Madrid City Tour - outwardly very noticeable red double-decker buses. They usually run around the historical center with many stops. At first, you’re shocked when such a thing starts taxiing towards you on a narrow street (in one of the squares I was running away from one - because while I was photographing the buildings I didn’t notice a bus coming around the corner towards me), but you very quickly get used to it and stop being surprised.

You can buy a one-day ticket for 20 euros or a two-day ticket for 25. If you have a ticket, you can get on and off the bus at any stop (each stop is marked on the map). Thus, you can not only go to explore the surrounding area, but also use it as transport to get from one point to another:

The buses are double-deckers - on the first floors there are places for the disabled and all sorts of wheelchairs, but I preferred to ride on the second floor. Each place is equipped with an audio guide in 16 languages - you choose which one you need and go and enjoy (Russian was number 7). By the way, the guide’s stories are interspersed with quite pleasant jazz music - at least this made me wildly happy.

Actually, the standard ticket package includes a card, headphones and various other discount coupons in various stores and eateries.

On the top floor it is also very convenient because you can open the windows (which I constantly used to take some pictures directly from the window), also each bus has a folding roof, but since it was winter and sometimes it drizzled, the roofs were mostly closed :

A rare exception is the open top. The day was really warm and sunny:

Well, and accordingly, there was a lot of filming while leaning out of the window. Although, of course, the streets there are so narrow, it’s worth doing this very carefully (often buses, and any kind of transport, drive almost in contact with the walls):

There are two in Madrid tourist routes- there are several intersection points to transfer from one to the second. The end of the first is located next to the Prado Museum and by the Ritz Hotel, the final second next to Neptune Square:

In addition to the main routes, there are also extended routes: some buses report that the bus follows an extended route (they are also marked on the map with a dotted line). For example, the first route, in its extended version, enters the embankment of the Manzanares River and even crosses it in one place via a bridge. The second route does not turn off near the Santiago Bernabeo stadium, but goes further straight in the AZCA area to Plaza Castilla and the Gate of Europe - a place where I never got to (((
In general, we can say that Route 1 is “old Madrid”, Route 2 is “modern Madrid”. Accordingly, the first one is more interesting for detailed study

I usually recommend Bas Touristik to people to quickly explore the city, they say, “there is little time - and you can see everything quickly.” I believe that it is necessary to use this type of transport without fail: first of all, we drove through the entire center in this way, studied what was where, and then we already outlined routes where to go, what to see, etc. And it just helps to navigate better. A useful thing in short.

If you come with a child, don’t like to walk, or simply your stay in Madrid is only a couple of days, but you want to see everything at once, tourist bus- this is the ideal way to get to know the Spanish capital.

The rhythm of the metropolis, the rush - even the residents of Madrid themselves need to stop and look around at the beauties of the city that surround us. How many times, while running along Gran Via (yes, just running), it doesn’t even occur to us to stop and look at the carved figures of gods supporting the roofs of buildings, or to examine in detail the fountain in Plaza Cibeles. How many lions are harnessed to the Goddess's chariot? More than half of the residents will say: “Four!”, but there are only two of them. So, it doesn’t matter whether you are a tourist or a Russian-speaking resident of the capital - we recommend taking a tour bus at least once and looking at Madrid with different eyes.

In the capital, as in most other cities, tourist buses have two floors. The first, or inner zone, is equipped with air conditioning in summer and heating in winter; the second, or external, located at the top of the bus, has no walls (heating and air conditioning, respectively), but gives full review 360 degree view of the city. Surprisingly, even in January and with strong winds, on the second floor you can see flocks of Japanese tourists bravely photographing Madrid.

All seats on the buses are equipped with audio guides (including in Russian), but not only sightseeing and interesting stories make tourist buses so attractive. The main advantage is that the traveler is completely spared from getting to know the capital public transport, which makes a huge saving of time and money. Are you interested in a specific place? You can leave the bus and get back on the next one when you get on to continue your route. The number of your trips is unlimited, it all depends on the tariff you choose, for 1 day or two.

Today there are several companies providing sightseeing tours in Madrid, but most convenient routes offers Madrid City Tours. Although there are only two directions: Historic Madrid and Modern Madrid, there is a fairly simple route scheme, large number stops and traffic intensity will help you see almost the entire city in a matter of hours.

You can buy tickets for a tourist bus both on the bus itself and in the centers tourist information or kiosks located near its stops. For those who like to plan all the details of their trip in advance, you can purchase tickets on the official website madridcitytour.es while still in Russia.

The ticket price depends on the number of days and your age:

Adults: 21€ (one day), 25€ (two days);
Youth (7-15 years old) or over 65 years old: 10€ (one day), 13€ (two days);
Groups of 2 adults and 2 teenagers (7-15 years): 53€ (one day). Children under 6 years old do not pay for travel.

You should also pay attention to the bus schedule and traffic intensity:

From March to October, bus schedule is from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. (interval 8-9 minutes)
From November to February from 10 to 18 hours (traffic interval 14-15 minutes).

Both routes start near the Prado Museum and have several common stops where you can easily move from line to line.

Twice a day (16.40 and 20.40) this route is slightly extended, the bus goes down to the Madrid River (Madrid Río) and continues to the Moncloa area, where you can see modern buildings The Spanish Air Force, the Moncloa lighthouse and the modern Arc de Triomphe.

Route 2 (Ruta 2) “Modern Madrid”

Acquaintance with modern Madrid, as on Route 1, begins with a stop near the Prado Museum. Here you will see young Madrid, the center of the country's financial and political power. Along the wide six-row boulevards of Castellana, Prado and Recoletos, the bus will take you to the financial center of Asca, the New Ministries district (by the way for fashionistas, a series of the largest buildings of the El Corte Inglés shopping center of the capital are very close), and, of course, there will be a stop at the foot of the famous Santiago Bernabeu stadium, a real Mecca for football fans. The bus also passes through the Salamanca area, home to the famous Golden Mile boutiques - a true shopping paradise.

Twice a day (16.50 and 20.50) this route also slightly increases its usual traffic pattern: along Boulevard Castellana the bus reaches four famous Madrid skyscrapers and Plaza de las Ventas.
