History of the profession of artist and designer. Art and design materials. Composition of font graphics

Types of decorative design works

A teacher of fine arts, drawing and labor has unlimited opportunities to show his creative initiative in organizing and implementing decorative and design work at school. The types of decorative and design work in a school include, for example, the design of the school site and the entrance to the school, the school lobby, classrooms (offices), art exhibitions of students’ creative works in various academic subjects, art posters, playbills, albums, covers books, wall newspapers, school balls, etc. During the children's rest period, the teacher participates in the design of the pioneer camp - the pioneer line, the ceremonial entrance to the camp, festive bonfires, a children's playground for kids, etc. School chiefs, counselors and the schoolchildren themselves also take an active part in this work.

Thus, the general requirements for the material spatial environment surrounding the student - its functional convenience, aesthetic perfection and economy - should largely be considered through the prism of pedagogical requirements. Beautiful and appropriate artistic design of the school entrance, school lobby and classrooms, made by the hands of students under the guidance of the teacher, pleases them, provides aesthetic satisfaction, teaches them to think creatively, and makes them want to work with creative enthusiasm.

Decorative and design work involves the use of a variety of materials: paper, cardboard, glass, foam plastic, plasticine, wood, etc., working with which has its own specific characteristics. The use of various materials and techniques for processing them in decorative and applied arts determines the variety of types of this art. Types of decorative and applied art differ either in the material from which the product is made (wood, metal, bone, stone, glass), or in the technique of processing the material (carving, embroidery, etc.), or in the finished product (carpets, lace ).

Design work requires the teacher to have good solid knowledge, skills, abilities and necessarily the desire to actively participate in the work together with schoolchildren of all ages.

The teacher’s enthusiasm must be passed on to the children; without it, such events will not be successful.

Creative enthusiasm can be aroused in students only by personal example, when the teacher himself actively works next to the children. The teacher should teach children to work not mechanically, but thoughtfully, constantly mobilizing their creative initiative. The key to success in the artistic design of any object. There will always be an early start to work, i.e. thinking through all the work to the smallest detail - a goal must be set and a plan for its implementation must be outlined. To do this, you must first of all become thoroughly familiar with the object being designed, its specific purpose, think about the necessary material (wood, metal, paper, glass, foam, etc.) and its quantity, the approximate time it will take to complete the design, as well as the number of students who will take part in the work. For example, when designing a wall newspaper, several people (editorial board) can participate; in designing invitation cards - not one or two people, but the whole class: some cut the paper, others make templates for printing tickets, artists draw up options for the composition of the artistic design of the ticket and distribute work between the other guys so that someone draws, someone paints, someone cuts, signs, etc. Consequently, depending on the assigned tasks, the entire plan and scope of design work must be thought out in advance: where to start, how and when to finish it.

Students acquire their first concepts about design art in decorative drawing lessons. They receive basic information about composing ornamental compositions and become familiar with methods of processing (stylizing) natural forms (plants, animals). Children complete variants of tasks and learn to apply their acquired knowledge in practice - design bookmarks for books, lids for pencil cases, etc. In each subsequent class, the tasks gradually become more complex and knowledge is improved. In addition to classroom activities, the school usually runs various clubs, including those in the fine arts: drawing, modeling, prototyping, and appliqué.

Students can apply the knowledge acquired in fine arts lessons in labor lessons when sawing out patterns, burning out designs, wood carving, embossing, etc. All types of work related to decorative design instill a love of art and hard work. They require students not only to have technical skills, but also to have a creative approach, both in the classroom and at home.
