Baggage over 30 kg – heavy luggage

What items can you take into the cabin without checking them in as hand luggage?

According to the old requirements, it was allowed to take the following things into the salon free of charge without weighing, tagging or registration:

For Pobeda, hand luggage restrictions will be 36x30x27, while the minimum ticket price starts from five hundred rubles.

Items allowed in hand luggage and on you

A passenger may wish to keep a number of items with him or her in hand luggage. These include:

• carbon dioxide cylinders (used to activate artificial limbs);
• glasses repair tools, including a screwdriver less than 50 mm long;
• lighter or non-hazardous matches (only with you);
• pacemaker;
• other pharmaceutical devices, including those using radioactive isotopes, with lithium batteries. Allowed to be kept only with oneself;
• robot toy;
• razors, including disposable ones;
• eyelash curler;
• nitroglycerin tablets or spray for treatment;
• oxygen cylinders for medical purposes;
• injection needles for a passenger with diabetes or specialized medications.

Actions in case of loss

No one is protected from losing things during air travel. Items go missing while being loaded or loaded into the luggage compartment, or they are accidentally sent on another flight.

In case of loss of personal belongings, follow the instructions:

1. Make sure you have your baggage receipt on hand;
2. Contact the missing items department with the form;
3. Write a statement;

Within three weeks, the carrier chosen by the passenger is obliged to find the items and return them. The parcel is delivered to your home free of charge, and the client does not have to go anywhere or pay anything.

If damaged luggage is returned or missing after three weeks, you can contact the company with a request to compensate for the losses.

If the carrier refuses to compensate for the damage, the citizen has the right to request a written refusal, with which he can go to court for further proceedings.

The Montreal Convention enshrines an international agreement that stipulates the maximum possible compensation for the loss of a bag - 1131 SDR (artificial reserve and payment instrument issued by the IMF). This is approximately $1500.

In practice, the figure depends on the specific carrier. Foreign companies pay on average $20/kg. Large foreign airlines may pay the excess amount according to their internal rules. Russian airlines pay approximately 600₽.

If a passenger has lost luggage while on an international flight, they should apply for a search no later than a week after the date of receipt of the items.

On domestic flights, you are allowed to file a claim within six months from the date of loss.

Standard compensation requires a description of the missing luggage. If you have receipts for lost items, you can present them with the application. Then you should expect a full or partial refund.

Passengers with the Minimum and Optimum fares can carry musical instruments measuring 40x30x20. To carry a larger instrument, you can purchase an additional piece of hand luggage up to 55x40x25 in size. Passengers with other fares may carry musical instruments in hand luggage only if they fit within the dimensions of 55x40x25 cm.

If a musical instrument exceeds the dimensions of “large hand luggage” 55*40*25, then it will not be possible to carry it in the cabin.
The only possible option for transporting a musical instrument in the cabin of an aircraft with dimensions exceeding 55*40*25 is to transport the musical instrument in the aircraft cabin on a separate passenger seat. Passengers with Optimum and Premium fares are entitled to 1 piece of luggage weighing up to 20 kg and up to 203 cm in the sum of 3 dimensions. Business passengers can check in 2 pieces of luggage weighing up to 30 kg with the same dimensions.

Luggage for children. Regardless of the class of service, passengers under 2 years old with a ticket without a seat can take on board 1 piece of hand luggage measuring 40x30x20 cm and weighing up to 5 kg, as well as baby food, a cradle and a stroller (according to FAP standards).

Flying with different airlines

Excess and oversized baggage

Passengers with Premium and Business fares can carry one set of sports equipment with a total weight of no more than 20 kg in their luggage free of charge.

Passengers with the “Minimum” and “Optimum” fares for the transportation of sports equipment need to pay an additional 3000 ₽ (or 50 € on international flights) for 1 set, with a total weight of no more than 20 kg, for each section of the route. At the Optimum fare, you can carry sports equipment free of charge instead of luggage. The transportation of regeneration devices, cylinders with compressed gases and chemicals, and other devices/accessories that are classified as dangerous goods is excluded.

Of course, we shouldn’t forget about animals. If you are carrying a small enough pet, then you can carry it in the cabin, of course in a special carrier.

The list of hand luggage also includes:

• laptop and recording equipment;

• customs store products, including alcohol, packed in a bag;
• chairs and strollers for children under 2 years old;
• baby food.

You can check in 1 bag free of charge as regular baggage per person. However, you should carefully monitor its weight; if it exceeds the limits, then you will have to divide all things by 2 with an additional charge.

The weight of baggage depends on the class indicated on the ticket. Many airlines have set the maximum for economy class at 20 kg; business allows you to carry an additional 12.

However, the standard size of a bag should not exceed 158 cm on all sides.

Carry-on children's luggage

As a standard, children under two years of age are not entitled to a separate seat. However, it is permissible for such a child to carry additional hand luggage on the plane.

Existing features of transporting liquids in hand luggage and luggage

At the moment, there is a complete list of liquid substances that are allowed for transportation in hand luggage:

These rules are considered quite universal for everyone, however, there may be some restrictions, depending on the internal rules or the country of arrival. For example, in the USA, bringing any alcohol with you is completely prohibited.

However, all other liquids that do not meet these strict requirements are quite acceptable to carry in luggage, they just must be placed in it in advance.

Carrying medicines on an airplane

A first aid kit is one of the most necessary things on any trip, and this applies not only to those who have chronic diseases. It is better not to be left abroad without emergency funds that will help cure the problem.

However, many countries do not allow the transport into their territory even of those products that are sold in the Russian Federation without any prescriptions. Therefore, sleeping pills, antibiotics, painkillers, and anti-sickness pills may fall into the risk zone.

Aeroflot

The baggage weight limit in economy class of this airline is 23 kg. For the comfort class, two pieces of 23 kg each are provided. The total weight of baggage in business class should not exceed 32 kg for 2 pieces provided. The total sum of the sides of the bag should not be more than 158 cm.

Aeroflot hand luggage has strict dimensions - 55*40*20 cm and weighing no more than 10 kg. For business class - no more than 15 kg;
