How to buy tickets to the Moravian Palace. Moravian Kras, Czech Republic. Moravian caves on the map of the Czech Republic

At 5:51 am our train departed from the main railway station Prague. There were almost no people on the platforms this early, so there were two of us in the coupe. We sat comfortably on the soft seats (read: lay down and almost fell asleep), and almost immediately the train started moving. Outside the window, cozy houses with red roofs, yellow rapeseed fields and green meadows flashed in the morning fog.

Main station.

Dawn landscapes.

Many reports from the Internet talked about how difficult it is to get to Moravian Kras on your own. We decided to take a chance.

The Moravian Karst is a huge territory in which karst formation processes were actively taking place - limestone rocks were slowly being undermined by water. As a result of karst processes, over many millennia, many caves arose in an area of 25 kilometers long and in different parts from 2 to 6 kilometers wide, about 1100 are known today! Only 5 are open to the public.

So, how to get to the Moravian beauty:
We set off with Central Station(Hlavny Nadrazi) by train to Blansco. The beauty of this train is that there are no transfers or connections - at 5:51 we board the train in Prague, at 8:52 we get off at the station in Blansko. The next direct train leaves at 7:51 and arrives at 10:52. We decided it was a little late :)

After exiting the railway station, there will be a bus station on the left. About 10-15 minutes after the train arrives, a bus leaves for Skalni Mlyn - entrance to natural park.

Across the road from the station, there is an information board that will help you get your bearings.

Having left the platform, we turned right, walked along the river and came across bus stop with a cleverly written schedule. Having examined the schedule from all sides, we assumed that either the bus would arrive in 2-3 minutes, or we did not understand anything in the schedule :) The bus did arrive.
On the way to the stop.

Ten minutes on the road and we are at the Stone Mill. Here we bought in advance booked tickets(on the website of the Moravian Krasst it is said that it is better to book the entrance to the most popular Punkva cave in advance, otherwise you can wait for several hours - they are allowed inside only with excursions, and excursionists almost always come in whole buses...).

Our excursion to Punkve started at 13:00, so we went to the nearby Katerzyn Cave.

We bought tickets at a tourist house on the way to the dungeon, waited about 10 minutes and went on a tour. In Czech :) The girl guide gave a printout with text in Russian, using it we followed the progress of the excursion.

Entrance to the cave.

The largest underground grotto in Europe is located in the Katerzyn Cave. Concerts are even held here, and an improvised stage has been built.
By the way, all caves are equipped with concrete paths, handrails, and stairs. When the guide clicks, the lighting turns on and off.

There are tripods with various measuring instruments everywhere.

In addition to the underground hall, the Kateřinskaya Cave is known for a huge number of finds of fossil bear bones.

Bear fireplace. This is where the most fossil remains were found.

And here are the bones.

A business cards serve as the so-called “bamboo forest” - stalagmats, spaciously “grown” in a small area of the cave.

And the “old woman”, who was even made a symbol of this cave. The formation is almost entirely natural: the exception is a stalactite stick, which the researchers gave into the hands of a witch bending over a gingerbread house.

A very tall stalagmite.

"Pagoda".

After the excursion, we walked along the path, which climbs famously, to explore the natural park.
Greenery, birds singing. Great weather. It was a nice walk :)

We approached the Macocha abyss from above - the symbol of the Moravian Karst. It was once a huge underground hall, but many years ago the grotto arch collapsed, revealing to the world an abyss 138 meters deep. There are 2 observation platforms near the abyss. But, in my opinion, the best vantage point is from the bottom of the abyss.

The second one is visible on the left of the frame observation deck

View from the second observation deck

From the Matsokha Abyss to the Punkva Cave, the trail drops significantly in height and winds between the rocks. By the way, if you started your journey from Punkva, then you can climb to the abyss by cable car, rather than stomping up the mountain. But this is for the lazy and not strong-willed;)

There are crowds of people near the Punkva cave, a cafe, ice cream, and a souvenir shop. Popular place.

The place where the underground part of the Punkva River comes to the surface.

We were lucky, the Russian one departed at 1 p.m. excursion group, to which we were joined. Still, listening to excursions in Czech is almost useless :) I was surprised by the form of the excursion - the girl guide turned on an audio recording in Russian - the announcer told everything in detail, the speakers broadcast the speech to the entire underground hall. And the guide only led the group along the route.

Grottoes, narrow corridors, stalactites, underground lake... the richness of the decoration provided a wealth of impressions.
On the right you can see a concrete path for tourists.

Small stalactites, mostly broken off.

You can imagine the size of the hall.

Such a wide ring at the top of the stalagmite is formed when drops fall from a great height.

Sinter formation "Canopy".

"Angel".

This part of the corridor is already of artificial origin.

Finally, we reached the observation deck at the bottom of the Macocha abyss. I once read the phrase that “light is better seen from darkness.” Standing at the bottom of the abyss, I realized that this was the absolute truth, there were no objections. Sheer walls covered with green moss, turquoise lake at the bottom, bright green young foliage of trees. All this, flooded with sunlight, after the darkness of the caves, seemed like emerald fireworks bursting out of the bowels of the earth.

And then the excursion continued... on boats along the underground river. The helmsman steered the rather large boat so deftly in a rather narrow space that I was amazed. Periodically, the helmsman announced the names of the stalactites, the depth under the boat in meters and the words “be careful on the right/left” - you need to take care of your head, stalactites and stone ledges tightly surround the riverbed. This is why you should not hold on to the sides of the boat. Here and there in the rocks of the walls I saw deep scratches made by the sides of the boat; my fingers would obviously be in trouble in those places.

Underwater bridge.

Pay attention to the color of the stalagmite. Blue-green algae cannot live in the dark, but they have covered the surface of the stalagmite, which is illuminated by artificial light. And they live great :)

After the excursion we went to walking trip to Blansko, unexplored trails and asphalt roads. Along the way we were surrounded by beauty.

We had lunch at the hotel cafe and at seven in the evening we went to Prague.

IN Czech Republic there are a lot of amazingly beautiful palaces, temples and cities, various sights made by human hands. But even the brightest emotions fade over time, and perceptions become dull. In this case, the best way to avoid this is to change the environment and get new emotions, for example, to get acquainted with the sights of the country that were created by nature itself.

To renew the brightness of your emotions, you can walk through the caves or take a boat ride along the underground river. All this can be done if you visit the famous Moravian Karst caves.

Today there are four caves accessible to tourists. This is where it all usually starts sightseeing tours through the caves. In most cases, excursions are conducted on Czech language, but you don’t have to worry about this at the box office where you will purchase entrance ticket, the cashier will give you an audio guide with a booklet in Russian.

The very first you can see is the Punctual Cave, it will lead you to the Matsokha Cave, then there will be the Baltsar Cave, in which you can see what stalactites look like. In Katerzyn Cave you can see what rare stalagmites look like. The famous Vypustek cave was considered a secret military facility in ancient times. When visiting the Stolbsko-Shoshuvsky caves, you will be amazed by the huge size of the abyss.

In the caves you can wander through corridor labyrinths and gorges created by nature itself and see what stalactites look like. And another feature of the caves is that bats live in them.

In Moravian Kras everything is thought out especially for people. Cycling enthusiasts can ride along routes both easy and difficult. Lovers hiking can safely stroll along the footpaths.

There are signs on all the paths, so you won’t get lost in the caves.

The entire territory in which the caves are located occupies about twenty-five kilometers, and the number of caves that are located in this vast territory is more than a thousand, the entire area of the national Czech park more than 90 kilometers. Bats live in the caves, there are a huge number of their species, and a variety of spineless animals also live next to them. And for your information, most of all the animals that live in these caves are still not studied.

Macocha Abyss

The most important asset of the Moravian Karst is considered to be the Macocha Abyss. At the very edge of this 138-meter gorge there are two specially equipped observation platforms, reminiscent of a balcony over the gorge. You can get to the upper observation deck by cable car. You will get there very quickly, but you will just have to stand in a long line to purchase a ticket and to board the funicular. At the top of the cave, the ceiling has collapsed and a piece of the sky is visible. Walking along the underground Punkva River, which flows into the lake, is extremely popular among tourists.

Eh, Purtugal, Purtugal... Handsome artist Cristiano Ronaldo, rolling on the grass with a grimace of unbearable (supposedly) pain - the cameraman showed this funny moment three times from different angles. Ten minutes or even less was not enough for the Portuguese to even the score, and I would have agreed to watch another half hour or more of this kind of football, even knowing in advance that Ballack or Klose would score their penalty, and Simão or Gomes would miss... And to be honest , then Germany, of course, shows great and effective football, but for some reason I can’t root for this team.

Well, okay, in anticipation of the Croatia-Türkiye match, I will continue my story about the Czech-Slovak vacation. We arrived in Brno on Sunday, and on Monday, as usual, Špilberk Castle and some other Brno attractions are closed, so we had to think in advance about how to spend the first day of our vacation without wasting time and profitably. Fortunately, in May, on Mondays, the Moravian caves are open to visitors - a must-see for every tourist visiting South Moravia.

Moreover, getting to Moravsky Kras from Brno is quite easy even without a car: from the main railway station to Blansko, and then by bus to Skalny Mlýn. Back in Moscow, using the super-convenient website idos.cz, I found out the schedule of trains and buses along the entire route, which was very useful later, so I recommend this website to all those who are planning independent travel in the Czech Republic and adjacent territories.

The most famous cave of the Moravian beauty is Punkevnaya, part of the excursion takes place by boat on the underground Punkva River, inspection of the caves includes an exit to the bottom of the Macocha abyss - in general, very impressive. It is not forbidden to take photographs in the caves (except from a boat, so that carried away tourists do not hit their heads and fall into the water), so high-aperture optics will not hurt - my fifty-kopeck lens did an excellent job here, although a wider angle would have been preferable. At the bottom of Matsokha there is terrifying humidity - it’s like you’re in the tropics!

In Punkevnaya Cave

Various stalactites and stalagmites

Many of the rock formations have unique names, but since the tour was in Czech, all the names had faded from my memory. This stalagmite reminds me of Santa Claus with a bag of gifts :)

Macocha Abyss. At the top you can see an observation deck at an altitude of 92 meters.

Matsokha bottom. Stream feeding the underground river Punkwu

Punkva, in turn, feeds two lakes. This, for example, has a depth of 13 meters!

The end of the underground journey

Matsokha. View from above (if you look closely, you can see both a stream and a lake)

There are hiking trails in the surrounding area; we followed the green one to Blansko, which is eight kilometers through mountains and valleys. In fact, you should just go down a picturesque green path to a paved road with a fork, walk another 2 kilometers to Skalny Mlýn and explore the Katerzyn Cave, then calmly take a bus to Blansko, walk around the city there and return to Brno.

But we still decided to continue along the green path, and it again took us up the mountain. After half a kilometer I could barely move my legs, then it occurred to me that we would no longer get into the Katerzyn Cave - it would be a shame. But going back would have been even more offensive, and we continued on - up the mountain, through the forest, across the field, past Czech villages... It’s good that twinger I prudently downloaded it to my smartphone detailed map Czech Republic - after some time we lost the green path and walked only according to the map.

True, everything ended well, we made it to the outskirts of Blansko, had lunch at a nearby cafe and went to the station. It’s a pity that we didn’t have time to explore Blansko itself - judging by the guidebook, there was also something to admire there. However, we had a great walk, and the weather was favorable to us.

The Moravian Karst is one of the most famous karst areas in Central Europe. It is formed by Cretaceous Devonian karst deposits. An area of 100 km2 contains surface and underground karst deposits. There are more than 1000 caves on the territory. Five of them are open to visitors. In the interests of preserving this phenomenon, in 1956 the territory of the Moravian Karst was declared a Protected Landscape Area.

The Moravian Karst is the most famous tourist area in our region. Hundreds of thousands of tourists visit the Moravian Karst every year. They admire the beautiful nature of the Moravian Karst, are enchanted by the dizzying depth of the Macocha Abyss and look forward to a tour of the caves.

On this page we would like to give you some practical tips on how to spend your holiday in the Moravian Karst so that you have the most pleasant impressions of it.

Possibilities of arriving at the Moravian Karst and moving around it

The territory of the Moravian Karst is bordered by a network of tourist trails. A green tourist trail leads to Skalny Mlyn (“the heart” of the karst with an information center and parking lot) from Blanska, which starts at the railway station. From Slope or the Slopesko-Shoshuvskie caves you will get here along the yellow route. Another important landmark is the upper bridge of the Macocha Abyss. Here the aforementioned yellow route from Slope intersects with the red route, which comes from Rudice.

Let's take a look at the fact that the Moravian Karst is visited very large number tourists, vehicle travel is limited and replaced by environmentally friendly transport. Cars are prohibited from entering Pusty Zhleb, which connects Punkevnye Caves with the village of Slope, and part of Dry Zhleb (from Katerzynska Cave to the turn to upper bridge Masokha abyss). The car must be left in the parking lot near the Skalni Mlyn hotel or near the upper bridge of the Macocha Abyss.

An ecological train runs from Skalny Mlyn to the Punkevni Caves, and a cable car is laid from the Punkevni Caves to the upper Matsokha bridge. The train and the cable car cabin run depending on the schedule for entering the caves (the train runs every 20 minutes, the cable car cabin – continuously). Tickets for the ride can be purchased at the information center at Skalny Mlyn and at both cable car stations. We recommend that you buy COMBI tickets. This is a discount ticket for round trip train and cable car travel.

You can arrive to Skalni Mlyn by regular or seasonal bus. tourist route“Krasobus”, which transports tourists from Skalny Mlyn to the center of Blansko. Additional information You will find it on the website: www.krasobus.cz.

Ticket booking system

Ticket reservations for cave tours are carried out by the Central Information Service on Skalny Mlyn - telephone number: 516 413 575 or 516 415 354. For groups of more than 15 people, a written application must be submitted.

To enter the Punkevnye Caves, especially at the height of summer tourist season, you must book tickets in advance, We recommend doing this at least a week before your planned visit! A limited group of visitors is allowed into the caves, which can fit in a boat.

Reservations must be received no later than 40 minutes before entering the caves. Otherwise, reservations for tickets are canceled and they can be purchased by visitors who do not have reserved tickets. Every day, especially in the early morning hours, there are tickets available that have not been received by customers. This situation may repeat itself throughout the day, so you can contact the information center from time to time with questions about the possibility of purchasing tickets.

Entrance tickets to the Baltsarka Cave, Kateřinskaya Cave, Vypustek and Slopesko-Shoshuvska Caves are sold without prior reservation.

Each cave has its own guides; you can order a visit to the caves with a story in various foreign languages.

Katerzynska cave, Punkevni caves and Macocha abyss
Your starting point is Skalni Mlyn. Here you can buy tickets to all caves, as well as tickets for ecological transport. A ten-minute walk from here is the Katerinska Cave, which is famous primarily for its stalactite formation of the Enchantress (Witch) and the legend of Katerinska and her lost sheep. The tour of these very popular caves lasts about 30 minutes.

Return to Skalni Mlyn and board the ecological train, which will take you to the Punkevni Caves. The tour in the cave is divided into two parts: land and sailing on the water by boat, the duration of the tour is about 60 minutes. Important warning: children under 3 years old are prohibited from entering the caves. Not far from the entrance to the caves there is the lower station of the cable car, which will take you to the upper bridge of the Macocha Abyss. In a similar way (or hiking trail) You will return to Skalni Mlyn.

Baltsarka and Slopesko-Shoshuvskie caves
Through the village of Vilemovice you will get to Ostrov pod Macochoy, the Balcarka Cave is located in front of the village. From Ostrov, head to Sloup, which received the title of village in 2000. The Slopesko-Shoshuv caves have recently been reconstructed, and the complex also includes the Kulna cave, famous for its archaeological finds. You can go along two routes: a short and a long loop. The excursion along the short ring lasts about 60 minutes; for those who are more resilient, we suggest walking along the long ring; the excursion lasts 100 minutes and during this time you will walk 1670 meters.

Vypustek Cave
From Blansko you will reach Jedovnice, then turn in the direction of Brno and end up in Kštiny. Vypustek Cave is located in the Josefos Valley, approximately 1 km from Kštin. Several centuries ago, the cave was an extensive and unique system. However, in the twentieth century it was clearly marked by the extraction of phosphate clays and the actions of the Czechoslovak and German armies. In the 60s of the twentieth century, an anti-nuclear shelter was built in one of the corridors. During the excursion you will get acquainted with the history of the cave, including the former secret military command post. Currently, the cave is finishing the preparation of the exhibitions “Vypustek Cave in the Kštin Valley” and “Cave of Ancient Rituals”, which present Vypustek as a ancient cave among the caves of the Moravian Karst, open to visitors, the cave of “dragons and unicorns” and the largest bear cave of the Moravian Karst.

And finally, important advice: do not forget to dress warmly, the temperature in the cave does not rise above 7-8°C!!!
