Blanes is a resort with an indescribable medieval flavor. Blanes, Spain: attractions, recreation, tourist reviews Beaches of Blanes Spain

For those who do not have an exact idea of where the town of Blanes is located, I want to clarify for the sake of clarity that it is located north of Barcelona, that is, practically in the northern part of Spain, on the Mediterranean coast, approximately at the latitude of central Italy. Therefore, the climate, or rather the temperature indicators here are approximately the same as, for example, in Montenegro, or, as I already emphasized, in the resorts of central Italy, this is for those who have already been to these places before.

Although there are practically no sub-zero temperatures here in winter, for this time of year, and in Spain itself, there are more interesting places for relaxation. Therefore, you are unlikely to meet tourists here who come specifically to relax during the winter months. But here, thank God, we won’t be talking about winter, but specifically about summer vacation, or rather about the period when it is better to enjoy a full-fledged beach holiday. read in full

Blanes - our Spanish love...

This year my family and I spent only 4 days in Blanes, a quiet and oldest town Costa Brava- but fell in love with it for life...Imagine a place just perfect for family vacation with a beautiful pine promenade, a magnificent three kilometer long organized beach, a wonderful rocky landscape so characteristic of the “Wild Coast” and the majestic Castle of San Juan, located on a cliff and dominating the city - then you will get your first idea of Blanes. The children were delighted with the San Francesk beach - this is not the main beach of Blanes, it is a little to the side, you need to walk to it, but what a beautiful place, everything is in pine trees, and what a wonderful gentle slope into the water, which is generally a rarity, both in the Costa Brava and in the Costa Maresme. We lived in the four-star Beverly Park Hotel, it is a little away from Blanes, but how nice it is to walk in the evening from our quiet place, breathing the pine-sea air, to the slightly more “loud” Blanes itself (which cannot be compared with Lloret de - Mar in decibel level). And what wonderful botanical gardens in Blanes - Marimurtra and Pinha de Rosa - it’s something unimaginable, the most fantastic and most beautiful plants in the world seem to have gathered here. Blanes is excellently located, you can reach Barcelona in an hour, and take a boat to the famous Tossa - de Mar and crazy Lloret de Mar. In general, Blanes is now our Spanish love...

Cost of a holiday in Blanes. October 2016.

Tour cost

Since we flew during the off-season, the trip cost only 1,200 euros for two people. We flew from Moscow to Barcelona airport. The tour operator arranged a transfer to the hotel in Blanes. We took a trip for 10 days, since there is nothing else to do in Spain in October.

I wouldn’t say that excursions in Blanes are very expensive. We went on a sightseeing tour to Barcelona for only 15 euros per person, we also took one day excursion to Andorra, it cost us 90 euros per person. Of course, we went to Montserrat. They paid 20 euros for it. We booked all excursions from street agencies, since they cost 20-30 euros more from a tour operator. Everything went just fine, he was with us Russian speaking guide, comfortable buses and free lunch in Andorra.

Food and products

Food in Blanes turned out to be surprisingly cheap. We had a quiet breakfast for 7-10 euros for two. It’s just that most often we ordered one portion for two, since the plates they brought were simply huge. Let's say a large plate of mussels in sauce cost only 5 euros, we took some sandwich for 1.5 euros. The most expensive were shrimp - we paid from 10 to 15 euros for them. We often bought paella; a large frying pan cost 10 euros.

The city of Blanes with its attractions (Spain, province of Girona, autonomous community Catalonia) is one of the most beautiful and ancient cities on the Costa Brava. This small town, which has preserved its indescribable medieval flavor, is chosen as a holiday destination by both elderly couples or couples with children, as well as young people, especially couples in love.

The town is conventionally divided into 2 parts: northern and southern. It is in the southern part that all tourist facilities are located: shops, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, mini-hotels, hotels, hostels and much more, which no tourist place can do without.

How to get there

Most often, tourists who choose Blanes for their holiday travel either from or from Girona (both there are international airports accepting flights from the CIS countries).

From Barcelona, which is only 60 km away, you can reach the resort by train, bus and taxi. Moreover, at present, ordering a Russian-language transfer to Blanes is not a problem. Naturally, this will not be cheap, about 8 thousand rubles, but it will be reliable and fast. By the way, you can also use the hotel's transfer services, if available.

Trains depart from Barcelona from central station Barcelona Sants. You need to choose directions either directly to the resort, or going to Macanet-Massanes. After arriving at Blanes train station, you can use public transport to reach the city center.

Directly from Barcelona airport you can get to the resort using Sagals buses. The schedule of these buses is different in different seasons, but they always run from 09.30 to 21.15. Local cuisine and restaurants

As in any other resort town, there are many cafes and restaurants in Blanes. They serve dishes of Spanish, Argentine, and Catalan cuisine; local catering establishments are especially famous for their seafood dishes.

It must be said that not only tourists prefer to have lunch and dinner in cafes and restaurants on the embankment, but also local residents and this is probably the main sign of the quality of their work.

You should definitely visit such establishments as:

This is just a small part of the resort's restaurants and cafes. Every tourist can discover something new, suitable only for him. But one thing still unites all the city’s establishments: incredibly tasty sangria is served everywhere here - the best drink for tourists tired of the hot sun.

Blanes is a classic medieval Spanish town that has managed to maintain its authenticity. Naturally, there are not so many attractions here (compared to Barcelona and Girona), but quite enough for those who come for the sake of beach holiday tourist

The Marimurtra Botanical Garden in Blanes is definitely worth a visit.. This is the best botanical garden on the Costa Brava. It is located on a steep seashore and occupies almost 15 hectares. The plant collection here is varied; you can see magnificent flowers that grow only in the Mediterranean. The garden was founded in 1918, so next summer it will be 100 years old.

Another magnificent botanical garden is the Piña de Rosa garden. This amazing place, which was founded in 1945. This garden contains the largest collection of cacti in the world, in addition there are many other plants. Flowering in this garden does not stop all year round. It is better to come here in the afternoon and stay until the evening, as many flowers bloom only after sunset. The evening aroma hovering over the garden is simply unique.

Advice: This Botanical Garden is easily accessible from central square cities (Catalonia). From here there are departures every 15 minutes tourist buses"OPEN TOUR".

What else is interesting in Blanes? Of course, the main attraction is Old town of Blanes. People come here to enjoy medieval architecture and admire Catholic churches, the most important of which is Church of Santa Maria. It is located in the very center of the Old Town, on Carrer Nou. Built in the 14th century and was once part of a large medieval castle, built two centuries earlier than her.

The church is made in the Gothic style, although the authentic appearance was badly damaged during wars and fires. It was because of this that the decision was made to reconstruct it (which began in 1949). By the way, during the fires, the works of Antonio Gaudi himself, who created several altars and pulpits for this church, were destroyed.

The heart of the Old Town is the ruins ancient castle 12th century. Once upon a time, it reliably protected the city’s residents during wars and pirate raids. A little later it was added watchtower, perfectly preserved to this day. Now some of the castle buildings have been restored, and a museum has been opened within its walls, the exhibition of which is dedicated to the history of the city.

Also on San Juan Hill is the Chapel of St. Barbara. St. Barbara is the patroness of the city. Now it is difficult to say exactly what century this Gothic temple dates back to, since it was rebuilt many times. Not far from the chapel there is a hermit’s house carved into the rock. It is also a local landmark.

Popular beaches

Blanes (like other cities on the Costa Brava) has many beaches. From large and comfortable to small, wild, but incredibly cozy and beautiful. All beaches are easily accessible (from a transfer point of view), guarded and protected by local authorities.

First you need to visit central beach city which is located right side from Sa Palomera. It is believed that this is where the Costa Brava beach strip begins. This beach is fully equipped for relaxation, its length is about 700 meters and its width is 30 meters. He was awarded more than once Blue flag– an international symbol of beach quality.

Then you can relax on S’Abanell - the largest beach in the city (3100 by 60 meters) and the most crowded. It is located on the left side of Sa Palomera. This beach offers the full range of tourist beach services and water activities.

Also worth visiting are beaches such as:

  • Sant Francesc or Cala Bona – incredible beautiful beach, surrounded by pine forest;
  • Santa Anna or Playa dels Capellans is a small beach surrounded by rocks, located near the monastery of St. Anna;
  • Treumal is the smallest beach in the city, located on the territory of a national reserve.

All the city’s beaches are sandy, but if you wish, you can also sunbathe on the rocks, enjoying a truly wild landscape.

What else to see

One of the most striking attractions of the city is the San Juan Fountain, located not far from the Viscount de Cabrera Palace. It is believed that this fountain is a classic example of Catalan Gothic. It was once decorated with the family coat of arms and was located in the center of a large square; later it was moved closer to the buildings. It is now located at Calle de Ampla/Carrer de Theolongo Bacchio 2-4.

A mandatory point of the tourist program should be the monastery of the Capuchin Order of St. Anne (Passeig de Carles Faust). The monastery dates back to the 16th century. At first there was only a small chapel of St. Anne, then the monks built monastery buildings and laid out gardens. The monastery was very badly damaged during the Civil War, but has now been restored and the gardens have been revived. It's good to walk here during a hot Spanish siesta.

You should definitely go to the Marineland water park with children. This is an amazing place where there are not only water slides, carousels and other attractions, but also a real zoo. This park houses and gives performances to such inhabitants of the seas and oceans as bottlenose dolphins, sea lions, Humboldt penguins, seal seals. You can also get up close and personal with parrots here. different types who actively take part in performances and willingly communicate with the public.

It’s worth visiting the very nice Gnomo Park with children. This is an amusement park with slides, carousels, water attractions, obstacle courses and mini-karting. The park also has rope slides and even tree huts. Throughout the park there are figurines of gnomes, which kids really like. By the way, adults won’t be bored in this park either. On the territory there are picnic areas, restaurants, cafes, you can play bowling and table tennis. The park is located between Blanes and Lloret de Mar (Carretera blanes a lloret GI-682 PK 8.7, Lloret de Mar).

Beautiful photos of the city

If you want to do it for real beautiful photos, then pay attention to the Sa Palomera rock in Blanes. This is not just a small rock located near the shore, it business card city and the entire Costa Brava. From its top there is a stunning view of the Mediterranean Sea and the city, especially beautiful in the evening.

There are many small towns near Barcelona. My favorite place is Blanes with its embankment, markets, and cozy restaurants. There are two wonderful botanical gardens And wonderful view to the port from the top of the mountain.

Blanes is a famous Catalan resort on the “wild” Costa Brava, on the border with the Costa Marisme. This is a nice and calm, fairly clean and tidy town with an authentic flavor of historical quarters, with a harbor in the center and an elegant pine boulevard, Passeig Marina, along a line of coastal hotels.

When is the best time to go to Blanes?

Blanes belongs to the province of Girona. It is called the “gateway of the Costa Brava”. Cozy city located 60 kilometers from bustling Barcelona - in the southern part of the resort coast, east of the mouth mountain river Torders. There are airports in Barcelona and Girona from which planes fly to all countries of the world, including Russia.

The climate here is mild Mediterranean, but the water warms up well only by mid-June. Average temperature in summer - +25 – 28°С. The warmest month is August (+29°C). The average winter temperature is about +14°C. The rainiest months are March and November. The beach season lasts from June to October.
