The result of many years of progress towards the progress of the Russian aircraft industry is an airplane Sukhoi Superjet 100. This is an achievement of the aviation industry that everyone can rightfully be proud of. Travel lovers now have the opportunity to cover distances on a domestic short-haul airliner. It operates only on relatively close routes, but the developers envisage a flight of more than 4,000 kilometers. Find out more in this article about how the idea of creating passenger plane by the Sukhoi company, how many stages of production the machine had to go through, how comfortable the flight conditions are, and many other aspects of operation.

What an airliner can do

The modern aircraft product marked a new era of production in Russia. There has been a huge boost in the development of this area thanks to the new product. Sukhoi Superjet 100 has occupied the regional aircraft segment on the global market. It can be described as economical, safe for environment, a passenger-friendly and crew-friendly 100-seat aircraft.

The maximum speed of the aircraft can reach 860 km/h. It covers a given distance at an altitude of about 12,000 meters. The flight range this aircraft can handle is from 3000 to 4500 km. It also has two powerful SaM 146 turbofan engines built into it. This model is manufactured to transport a small number of passengers, its standard layout is 98 seats. The prospects for the further distribution of our aircraft to airlines around the world are quite optimistic, since they are competitive and in demand.

Project development history

The prerequisite for creating our own short-haul airliner in Russia arose at the end of the last century. Most large companies in the construction of aircraft, Boeing and Airbus occupied the market segment for the creation of ships with a capacity of more than 150 passengers. It was necessary to create a project that would be modern, high-quality, and provide short-haul transport. This was the process of creating the Sukhoi Superjet Su 100-95B aircraft.

In the early 2000s, Brazilian and Canadian airliners appeared in this niche, but Sukhoi still had advantages that qualitatively distinguished it from competitors' products. Analysts came to the conclusion that these companies will not be able to meet airline requests on their own. Demand significantly exceeded supply.

The Russian aircraft industry found itself in a crisis; it only shadowed the past successes of the Soviet Union. The Tupolev and Yak-42 aircraft were once masterpieces of engineering, but at the beginning of the 21st century they ceased to meet European standards. The noise level of these models forced Russian airlines urgently update your aircraft fleet in order to continue active operations, ensure air transport. This restriction was introduced in 2002 by the European Union. Among other things, the high fuel consumption of older aircraft provoked higher costs; against their background, Boeing and Airbus airliners seemed the only option. Intensive purchases of used imported aircraft began.

How are aircraft manufactured in the Russian Federation?

2000 is the official date of foundation of the closed joint-stock company Sukhoi Civil Aircraft. Despite the fact that initially this company was engaged in the creation of only military aircraft, in a market economy it became expedient to expand production. The initial name of the development of the passenger aircraft was Russian Regional Jet. A step towards the evolution of aircraft manufacturing in Russia was that the State Air Force decided to involve foreign ideas, developments and significant details in the process of creating its flagship. The Boeing company began consulting on the project.

In 2003, an agreement was concluded with French companies Snecma and PowerJet on joint creation with NPO Saturn of engines for the future aircraft. Development took longer than expected, and tests planned for 2005 were postponed indefinitely. But already in the same 2005, OJSC "Financial Leasing Company" made pre order for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft in the amount of 10 aircraft, and Aeroflot - for as many as 30.

The state was also actively involved in financing the project. It was part of the federal target program "Development of civil aviation equipment in Russia for 2002-2010 and for the period until 2015." These investments amounted to about 8 billion rubles. Thanks to these funds, the assembly of the airliner began in Komsomolsk-on-Amur at the aircraft plant named after. Yu. Gagarin (KnAAPO).

Flight characteristics of the aircraft

Sukhoi Superjet 100-95 with basic configuration can accommodate 98 people. Passenger capacity varies from 98 to 108 seats. The length of the aircraft reaches 30 meters, and the wingspan is 27.8 meters. The maximum possible distance for which it is designed is from 3000 to 4500 kilometers (depending on the model). The speed category of the aircraft is as follows: the cruising speed of the vessel is 830 km/h, and the maximum permissible speed is 860 km/h, which is a high figure. This aircraft is not capable of handling any airport in the Russian Federation; only about 60% meet all the requirements for the runway and functionality.

First flight

The test flight of the Sukhoi Superjet 100-95 was carried out on May 19, 2008. This happened in the city where its main assembly took place - in the sky above Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The test was completed successfully, which made it possible to produce international certification and vessel improvement.

Cooperation with Aeroflot

Aeroflot is the largest customer of SSJ 100 aircraft. The prospect of a long-term relationship was laid down in 2005 during the signing of a lease. The first use of the Sukhoi Superjet 100-95LR by Aeroflot occurred on June 16, 2011. The flight took place from Moscow airport to St. Petersburg.

As for the design features of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft for Aeroflot, the photo reflects the company logo.

The company receives cars at a much lower cost than other partners. Therefore, Aeroflot also faces considerable risks when putting domestic aircraft into operation. Thus, at the initial stages, their cooperation turned out to be unprofitable for Sukhoi Civil Aircraft. The first ten were purchased at a price below the catalog price - 19 million dollars versus 24. Their further activities have already moved to the stage of production recoupment.

Sukhoi Superjet 100: interior

The number of seats and variations in their location in the airliner differ depending on the model. Thus, the Sukhoi Superjet SU 100-95 aircraft has two main cabin modifications - AA and AF. But both models are divided into classes according to comfort - “business” and “economy”.

The first rows of seats from 1st to 3rd are business class seats. Seats marked A, C, D, F are considered the least comfortable due to the separation of the passenger area from the toilet. There is less space in front of them thanks to this partition. Overall, business class offers better seats, accommodations and food.

All other rows have more economical conditions. In the 6th row, seats A, C, D, E, F can be given special attention, since they are located closer to the nose of the aircraft, where the restroom is located, and have a large space in front.

Fundamentally, the equipment of the models differs in the very last, 20th row. In the AA version, the rear seats do not recline, which will create additional discomfort for the passenger. Also, the proximity to the bathroom causes other passengers to often walk past these places, and perhaps even the formation of a small queue. And in the AF model, the developers took care of improving the conditions. The distance to the restrooms has been increased, and the seat can be reclined, but these are still not the best seats on the plane.

Choosing the best place

On the website of the manufacturer of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 airliner, the best seats are clearly demonstrated on the cabin plan. How to choose the best place to fly? It is located in business class, but this ticket costs more. Therefore, to make traveling with savings as comfortable as possible, follow these principles:

  1. Check out the passenger compartment diagram.
  2. If you are not sure which aircraft configuration you will fly on, then choose row 20 only if there are no other seats at all.
  3. You should avoid places at the rear of the car, as this is where turbulence is felt most strongly.
  4. It is better to choose a seat away from the restroom and technical rooms, as unpleasant sounds or smells may haunt you there.
  5. It is important that the seat backs are fully reclined without creating barriers to healthy sleep while traveling.
  6. If difficulties arise with independent choice, qualified airline employees will be able to help you book your seat.

Company achievements

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft was presented in 2007. However, there was a delay in deliveries due to difficulties in the production process. The creation of the vessels took longer than planned. Despite this, it was planned to increase the production rate to 6 aircraft per month. In 2010, the number of finished products was 50 units. In 2011, production was less than expected - 2-3 aircraft per month. Delivery delays provoked an outflow of customers, but the main customers still continued to work closely with the company.

The first important document for the company was received in 2010 - the IAC certificate, and in 2012 even the EASA certificate. This allowed us to confidently enter the short-haul airliner market in accordance with European standards quality. So, the production of the airliner is characterized by high technology and the introduction of the latest developments. The number of foreign components for it has decreased from 80% to 50%, and this is a huge success.

Criticism of the project

As many critics believed, at the initial stage the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft project won the state tender for a reason. The Tu-334 competed with it, which, in their opinion, was more suitable for poor conditions V Russian airports. In the Tupolev, the engines are located at the tail of the ship, while in the SSJ they are installed very low - under the wings of the liner. Flying a Tupolev aircraft is also more familiar to Russian crews. However, the GSS project received funding, and this contributed to its successful implementation.

Also, some argue that the SSJ is similar in appearance to the German Fairchild aircraft. This is speculation; the designers themselves completely denied this connection.

Sukhoi Superjet 100: reviews from pilots and passengers

Pilots and passengers give the airliner a high rating. In terms of control, the ship is simple and obedient, has a high rate of climb, as the pilots themselves note. And travelers on the Sukhoi Superjet 100 enjoy comfortable seats, wide aisles and distances between seats, and spacious luggage racks. For airlines, the aircraft is beneficial in terms of fuel consumption.

Sukhoi Superjet 100 (Sukhoi Superjet 100) - short-haul passenger airliner Russian production. Developed and manufactured by Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, it has been used on commercial flights since 2011.

Currently, Sukhoi Superjet aircraft fly not only in Russia. Among the foreign operating companies are CityJet (Ireland), Interjet (Mexico), ArmAvia (Armenia), Sky Aviation (Indonesia), Lao Central Airlines (Laos).

Interior diagram of Sukhoi Superjet 100

The cabin layout may vary depending on the airline, but the difference is not as dramatic as on larger long-haul aircraft, which have more options for comfort zones and regular seats.

Aeroflot

Aeroflot's fleet of Sukhoi Superjet 100-95B aircraft is huge: 42 aircraft of this model are used on flights.

Aeroflot's Sukhoi Superjet design is the same for all aircraft:

  • Business class (the best Sukhoi Superjet seats at Aeroflot): rows 1-3, a total of 12 seats, arranged in a 2-2 pattern;
  • Space+ places ( increased comfort in economy class): 6th row, 5 seats in a 2-3 pattern;
  • Regular seats in economy class are 70 seats from rows 7 to 20, layout is 2-3.

There are 3 toilets on board: 1 at the front of the aircraft on the left side, 2 at the rear.

The worst seats are considered to be at the end of the cabin (row 20) and every middle seat in a three-seat block (in the diagram from Aeroflot these are all seats E).

Gazprom avia

Gazprom Avia airline operates a modification of the Sukhoi Superjet 100LR.

On the official website, the carrier does not provide a diagram of the layout of the passenger compartment. However, it is known that in the main part the typical arrangement of seats for the Sukhoi Superjet cabin is used - according to the 2-3 scheme.

IrAero

IrAero's fleet includes the RRJ-95B (basic type) and RRJ-95LR-100 (extended range modification); a total of 8 Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft fly on regular flights.

Depending on the layout and modification of the board, the aircraft can accommodate 93 or 103 passengers.

Basic scheme:

  • Business class - rows 1-3, 12 seats arranged in pairs;
  • Economy class - rows 6-20, seat arrangement - 2-3.

IN economy class Sukhoi Superjet 100 the best seats are located at the beginning of the cabin - on row No. 6. The least favorable seats in the cabin are standard - every middle one in a block of 3 seats and all seats at the end of the cabin - near the toilets and far from the exits.

Azimuth

Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft - the basis air fleet Azimuth Airlines, based in Rostov-on-Don.

IN aircraft fleet young air carrier includes 8 Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft, while 7 of them were delivered new directly from Aviation plant named after Yu. A. Gagarin. The RA-89036 aircraft was previously in service with Yamal Airlines.

Rostov-based Azimuth uses two layouts for aircraft layout, each is a single cabin, but seats on rows 1-3 are available at the Comfort tariff.

Scheme No. 1

  • Total number of places - 100;
  • Number of rows - 20;
  • The layout on all rows is 2-3.

The pride of the Russian aviation industry, an innovative development on which the government has big plans - it’s all about the model modern aircraft"Sukhoi Suprejet-100".

Despite the fact that the model has a number of shortcomings, it is the next step in the development of domestic passenger transportation over short distances.
Subject to responsible development and modifications, it has every reason to receive the title of best in its class.

History of creation

Work began on creating a prototype of the first Superjet after the PRJ project won the competition for a development license.

In February 2006 the company began assembling the first SSJ model, and exactly 1 year later the model was delivered from Komsomolsk-on-Amur to the Zhukovsky test site for the purpose of presentation and conducting a static control test.

The first performance test was carried out in February 2008 power plant, its compatibility with other systems. After another 2 months, the Sukhoi Superjet-100 was tested on the runway.

The model passed the movement and steering tests successfully.

This fall, the SSJ-100 underwent certification testing at the Interstate Aviation Committee and passed endurance tests.

On December 24, 2008, under the control of test pilot L. Chikunov and N. Pushenko, the airliner took off for more than 2 hours. The height to which the model rose reached 6 km.

The results of TsAGI inspections were received in 2010, as a result of which ZAO received a license to produce this modification. On April 19, the first prototype was donated to the Armenian air carrier Armavia, which successfully operates it for its needs.

Design

The SaM146 turbofan power unit from the Russian-French company Power Jet, installed on both sides of the body, ensures flawless operation of the model. The layout of the Sukhoi Superjet aircraft is no different from standard classical aerodynamic standards, representing an ordinary short-haul passenger aircraft.

The swept-back shape of the wings, equipped with single-slot flaps, the nose fairing, many mechanisms and parts - all this is made of composite materials.

The aircraft is controlled using a sidestick installed instead of a steering wheel, which is used for the first time in domestic developments.

Mechanical shock absorbers are not installed for landing safety, since instead of them the designers used automatic protection against contact with the tail part runway.

Interior layout

The manufacturer comments on the cabin layout with the following words: “The seats in our Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft are designed in such a way that the greatest comfort and safety, created by unprecedented characteristics, are put at the forefront. Thus, a passenger who arrived on a large airliner for long-haul flights and transferred to a small regional one will hardly feel the difference.

The design of the economy class cabin in size comparison is identical to Boeing or Airbus. The distance in the legs allows even tall people to sit quietly and straighten their legs, and the shelf for storing luggage with a capacity of 50 liters breaks all records.

This has the added benefit of not having to check your bag or suitcase as luggage and then wait to receive it upon arrival.”

The arrangement of seats on the Sukhoi Superjet aircraft is designed in such a way that there are 2 categories: economy and business class.

Inexpensive salon has 75 seats versus 12 in a more expensive class.

Separately, the arrangement of the seats should be mentioned; they are placed in such a way that there are 3 in one row on one side of the board, and 2 across the aisle on the second side. Toilets are located in the front and back.

Location of the best places

Total cabin capacity may vary significantly depending on seat selection. The most comfortable ones in economy class are in row 6. Here more space for the legs, since there are no seats in front.

The rest are considered relatively convenient, differing in many ways from their “classmates” used in regional aviation. The distance between adjacent seats is 81 cm.

The opposite situation concerns the last row; the partition installed at the back does not allow you to fully recline the backrest and sit with maximum comfort.

In addition, the structure of the aircraft cabin has some features that apply to almost all places in any public transport. Therefore, it is advisable to take them into account when choosing a place:

  1. The seats located near the window are distinguished by the fact that you can admire the views throughout the entire flight (subject to a daytime flight and clear weather). However, getting out of it is inconvenient; you will have to disturb the neighboring passenger;
  2. Aisle seats have completely opposite characteristics. It’s easy to go to the toilet using them; you don’t need to ask anyone to let you in. But, quite often, passing flight attendants delivering food and water on carts, as well as passengers and a neighbor who needs to get out, can be disturbing.

General technical specifications

One of the main differences that the Sukhoi Superjet-100 has is its production using modern technologies and innovative projects.

Thanks to this, some technical specifications radically different from analogues produced earlier.
You can familiarize yourself with them using the table below:

CharacteristicSize/ Description
Length, m29,95

Thanks to its features, the Sotka can be used on all types of runways.

In addition, the model’s avionics allows it to perform these actions even in difficult weather conditions.

In addition, the price of tickets for a small aircraft is low, which makes it more popular for use in regional transportation.

Modifications of the Super Jet-100 family

As of November 2017, 151 Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft have been produced. However, this applies not only to one model, but to the entire series, developed on a single basis.

Total for at the moment There are 7 different variations known for different purposes:

  1. The Sukhoi Superjet-100 V aircraft is the standard version from which the history of the model began;
  2. Model 100 B-VIP is an administrative and business option developed on the basis of the main model. On given time 2 aircraft are operated in the Rossiya SLO and 1 in the RusJet airline;
  3. 100 LR (Long Range) – has an increased flight range, reaching 4,500 km;
  4. 100 LR-VIP – administrative and business option with an increased flight distance. 5 units of equipment were produced (2 Ministry of Emergency Situations, 2 Royal Court of Thailand, 1 Kazakh branch of a Swiss company);
  5. 100 SV - the model is under development, the manufacturer undertakes to present a prototype with a larger fuselage and greater passenger capacity in 2018;
  6. Sukhoi Business Jet, or SBJ, is intended for flights of important people. Features increased comfort. The interior trim is made to order. Today, the only owner of such a model is the Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations;
  7. Sportjet by Sukhoi is a modification designed to transport athletes; it is planned to begin mass production by the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Of the total number of Superjet aircraft produced, only 117 units were delivered to customers, the rest are in the manufacturer’s hangar or are undergoing static tests in Zhukovsky.

Advantages of the aircraft

As mentioned earlier, the Sukhoi Superjet 100 is produced using modern technologies, which allows us to speak of its high quality, reliability and safety.

The main structures are designed in such a way that this model is the only one certified to the global standard. In addition, during the development of the aircraft, not only technical requirements were taken into account, but also the wishes and recommendations of future customers.

This made it possible to bring Pavel Sukhoi’s designs as close as possible to the ideal option.

Benefits are divided into those received from passengers and operational ones, those that affect pilots and owners involved in maintenance. If we consider the positive characteristics of the aircraft from travelers, we can note the following:

  1. Convenient aircraft layout;
  2. A salon characterized by width and spaciousness;
  3. Conveniently installed soft passenger seats;
  4. Modern production and use of modern finishing materials in the production.

However, despite numerous positive reviews, the opinion is often heard that the model requires significant improvements. Perhaps this is the reason that the model spends most of its time on the ground, and during flights the cabin is filled no more than half.

Disadvantages of the aircraft

A serious blow to the brand's image was the tragedy that occurred during a test flight over Indonesia.

The accident killed 45 people, some of whom could have become potential customers. Although, as a result of the examination, the cause of the collision with the mountain was not the technical condition of the aircraft, but the erroneous actions of the crew, many people’s opinion about the Superjet-100 changed, and the manufacturing company lost large number orders.

Most of the list of manufactured Model 100 and Model 95 aircraft have notes regarding common problems that arise with enviable regularity. This may be explained by the fact that the Superjet is a new development, which, like all new products, has technical errors that only appear during long-term operation.

Another option is Russian assembly. For some customers, this fact is enough to refuse a purchase.

If we look at the statistics, the flight time of models does not exceed 3 – 4 hours a day. The only positive coefficient is shown by Yakutia Airlines with a time above average - 6.5 hours.

The reason for the low popularity is the high cost of spare parts, the production of which is not profitable for the manufacturer due to the small number of aircraft.

Many passengers notice the design feature of the Superjet - the low location of the windows. In order to look through them, an adult has to hunch over or slide down, which is not entirely comfortable. In addition, a number of unpleasant surprises of the model were noted:

  1. Strong floor vibration;
  2. Poor sound insulation;
  3. Lack of individual ventilation;
  4. Poor layout of emergency exits, of which there are very few.

Despite the different dynamics of the advantages and disadvantages of the model, it is a national pride, since it is the only aircraft designed after the collapse of the Soviet Union, while meeting all international requirements. Moreover, despite the description of the Superjet-100 as a model that has a number of shortcomings and constantly requires the intervention of technicians, it does not have cases that radically characterize the danger of the model.

During the entire short period of use with the aircraft, there was not a single serious breakdown that resulted in the death of people. The incident that occurred in Indonesia is not taken into account as it occurred for a different reason.

Today's post is a short overview Russian plane Sukhoi Superjet 100 with tail number RA-89005. The SSJ 100 aircraft, painted in the colors of the SkyTeam alliance, was transferred to Aeroflot on March 5, 2012. My flight on it took place on March 30, 2012, that is, more than a year ago. At that time, only 8 such machines were flying in the world (now there are about 20). I will share my personal impressions of the aircraft. As they say, better late than never.

//glazelki.livejournal.com

A girl in an Aeroflot uniform opens the boarding gate for a flight on the route Moscow - Minsk. The cost of a round-trip ticket was a modest 3,868 rubles (1,013 hryvnia or $127).

//glazelki.livejournal.com

The SSJ 100 cabin comes in two versions for ~75 and ~95 passengers. The Superjet belongs to the class of regional short-haul aircraft, i.e. designed for medium and short-range flights (up to 2,400 kilometers). But there is also an option with an increased flight range. The layout of the economy class cabin is narrow-body - 5 seats in one transverse row, separated by an aisle (3+2).

//glazelki.livejournal.com

As soon as online registration opened on the Aeroflot website, I checked in in the first row after business class.

//glazelki.livejournal.com

Pay attention to the plane diagram; this row has the largest legroom.

//glazelki.livejournal.com

Even with the toe of an outstretched leg it is impossible to reach the seat in front.

//glazelki.livejournal.com

The other chairs are also very comfortable to sit in. The row spacing is decent, as decent as it can be in economy class. For me, as a passenger, this is one of the key characteristics of an airplane.

//glazelki.livejournal.com

The salon turned out to be completely new. So clean that it actually sparkled. The finishing is on par. Let's go over the main components.

Individual panel. LED bulbs shine brightly. The buttons on the panel are simple, but pressed softly and pleasantly.

Senior flight attendant console.

Compartment for hand luggage.

//glazelki.livejournal.com

The designers managed to ensure that the size of the shelves corresponded to the size of the shelves of airliners with a large fuselage diameter, such as the A320 family of medium-range aircraft. Note that the drawer is deeper above the three chairs. So if your “carry-on baggage” is so huge that it doesn’t fit on your right, you can ask your neighbors on your left to accommodate you above them.

//glazelki.livejournal.com

If the cabin is full, and each passenger has a lot of things with them, there will not be enough space in the hand luggage compartment for everyone. However, this is not a problem with a specific aircraft, but a feature of the entire economy class.

Nothing extraordinary at JSC " Civil aircraft They didn’t invent dry food. Everything is standard - breakfast fits right in, but that’s okay.

A brand new wing shines in the window.

It seemed to me that the cabin was a little noisy due to the roar of the engines. Especially during takeoff.

Results.

Well what can I say? The flight went as usual and seemed quite comfortable. Nothing irritated me more than usual. At the same time, the cabin of the SSJ 100 does not have outstanding characteristics compared to the cabins of other aircraft of its class that I have flown. The only noticeable plus is the pleasant novelty of the interior. Old Bombardiers and Embraers are more greasy than the newest Superjet.

The tactical and technical characteristics, cost of maintenance and economic benefits from operating the aircraft are not for me, the average passenger, to judge, but for the airlines' specialized specialists. But I will still say a few words about the project itself. First, I fully endorse the use of imported components in the aircraft development process. International cooperation increased the quality and guaranteed the success of the project as a whole. But the indigestible Latin “Sukhoi Superjet 100”, which became official name On the contrary, it is very confusing. As a wish, I suggest the following new model name a Russian aircraft in Russian.

Well, secondly, the SSJ 100 was launched on a domestic assembly line and is being produced en masse, for the first time in modern history Russia. The firm backlog of orders for the airliner already amounts to 179 units. As the number of Superjets increases, I hope the number of interregional transportations, which we, residents of the regions of a huge country, so lack, will also increase.
