Thousands of tourists come here to enjoy the mild climate of the resort, the beauty mountain landscapes and local attractions. To visit all the iconic locations of Crimea, you will need more than one vacation. And if it’s your first time, it’s important to know where exactly to go for the most vivid impressions of the sunny peninsula.

The portal YUGA.ru has collected the ten most interesting sights of Crimea - and the admiration of tourists for them on social networks:

1. Swallow's Nest- a castle in the Gothic style, which is located on a steep 40-meter Aurora rock on the southern coast of Crimea. This is one of the most visited sites on the peninsula, which is also a kind of emblem of Crimea. Castles with similar architecture can be found in Portugal and northeastern Italy. The castle received its current appearance only in the 30s. last century. Some vacationers noted that the most breathtaking view of the architectural creation is from the sea, so they advise going to the castle by boat. Tourists who have visited here have associations with fairy-tale and mystical castles, and for some it even evokes the atmosphere of Harry Potter's Hogwarts, but in fact, Swallow's Nest is best known for filming in the film "Ten Little Indians."

Nearby there is a cave of the same name and a spacious observation deck. 5. Massandra Palace- a truly fabulous possession of Emperor Alexander III, similar to the residence of the French Renaissance. Romanesque and Gothic styles, as well as Baroque and Classicism, are used in the decorative decoration of the interiors. The palace has preserved unique household items: handmade chandeliers, a fireplace, mirrors, decorative panels, mahogany furniture. And its well-groomed territory attracts visitors with its ancient garden and sculptures. Some people find the palace cozy and cute, and some even find it “toy-like”. 10. Vorontsov Palace - the luxurious residence of Count Mikhail Vorontsov, built in Alupka in the 19th century. The palace is surrounded by a magnificent park and is an example of romanticism architecture. Various styles are combined here: from neo-Gothic to neo-Moorish. The palace has 150 rooms, including the front rooms. The residence can be divided into the main and Shuvalov buildings, a library, a clock and western towers, a winter garden, fountains, a palace courtyard, summer terraces and a string of marble steps surrounded by lion figures, leading almost to the sea itself. By the way, Vorontsov and Buckingham palaces have the same architect.

Map golden ring Crimea, circular routes by car and bus along the highway, by off-road vehicles on dirt roads
posted at the bottom of this review.
We recommend your first trip through the “world in miniature” along the circular route Golden Ring of Crimea and recommend a mandatory long stop in Alupka.

Most of the Crimean attractions are located in the southwest, on the ring Simferopol - Bakhchisaray - Inkerman - Sevastopol - Balaklava - Laspi - Simeiz - Alupka - Miskhor - Yalta - Gurzuf - Partenit - Alushta - Angarsk Pass - Salgir Valley - Simferopol. You can get an overview of the Golden Ring of Crimea from any point in 1 day! Of course, you can go in any direction. But we recommend your first trip so that you get to Alupka early. You can return to your place of residence in the dark.

At night, the trolleybus route Yalta - Alushta - Simferopol is also quite suitable. But during the day during the season you will have to give it up - it’s too busy. The highway Simferopol - Bakhchisaray - Sevastopol is suitable at any time of the day. But there are few viewpoints on it. The highest density of attractions is still in the southwest of Crimea.

Circular map car route"Golden Ring of Crimea" - the main route along the highway (red dots), routes for mountain bikes, and motorized off-road vehicles (blue dots).

Separately, over time, we will also analyze routes for off-road vehicles (from mountain bikes to expedition jeeps). But unlike the Golden Ring of Crimea, you cannot cover the route by car along the highway in one day. However, you can do it in a day if you spend part of the route with a bicycle at the beginning or end in an electric train, trolleybus, or arrange for an auto drop-off.

All our routes are also available for travel by public transport. Again, in this case, you won’t be able to get around the Golden Ring of Crimea during daylight hours. You will either need to break it up into loop routes to return to your base point, or spend the night at one of the points on the ring. Apartment bureau agents are always present right at the bus stations around the clock. Inexpensive hostel-type hotels operate directly at bus stations, for example in Yalta.

A list of the most popular attractions in Crimea with photos and logical routes for visiting them is given below.

You can remove or expand some points when planning your vacation in Crimea. It all depends on the time of year, the number of days you have, and transport.

This list contains only those objects that we visited ourselves (I don’t like to write about things that I haven’t seen with my own eyes) and which I recommend that you also visit. And in this article you will find my recommendations on how to create route around Crimea to see how you can more places from this list.

So, let's go...

Sights of Crimea: photos, descriptions, tips for visiting

If you go to Crimea by car, then the first attraction you will have is Crimean Bridge .

The Crimean Bridge consists of two parallel bridges - a road bridge, which is part of the A-290 road, and a railway bridge being built nearby. Total length Crimean Bridge— 19 km.

Well, actually across the bridge we find ourselves in the first city on our route - Kerch .

Kerch

Despite such a good location, tourists often bypass the city of Kerch with their attention, rushing to the more popular places in Crimea that are promoted in guidebooks. But believe me, Kerch is worth a closer look.

Firstly, Kkrch itself is a city with a rich historical past. Its history goes back 26 centuries. And every historical era, every empire that once included these lands left its monuments in Kerch.

Also in the Kerch area there are two national parks, which will be discussed below. Sure, natural beauty these places will not leave you indifferent. Therefore, I advise you to stay in Kerch for the night. For example, here in .

Opuksky Nature Reserve and Koyashskoye Pink Lake

The Opuksky Nature Reserve is located about 50 km from Kerch, on the shores of the Black Sea. Until 1998, the territory of the reserve was closed and belonged to a military base.

I won’t go into detail about the uniqueness of the reserve or the beautiful beaches in this part of the coast. Koyashskoe (or Opukskoe) salt lake— that’s why it’s worth coming here along the local, not very good (and in some places very bad) roads. This lake is also called pink - this is exactly the shade it takes on from mid-April to the end of June.

Karalar Nature Park

This is where I didn’t expect to see such stunning landscapes, it’s on Azov coast !

Feodosia

Another city in Crimea that may not impress you at first, but if you spend time exploring its attractions, it will reveal itself to you in all its glory.

It’s worth coming here if only to visit the museum of the famous painter Aivazovsky . It was the landscapes of Feodosia Bay that inspired him to create many famous paintings.

Read and plan a route around the city:

You can also stay in the city for a couple of days to swim in the famous Golden Beach and go on a boat trip to Golden Gate - beautiful rocks in that area of the coast.

On the way from Feodosia to the next point on our list - Sudak - you can stop by another resort town, the name of which is well-known among tourists - Koktebel .

Here you can literally spend an hour walking along the embankment and visiting the house-museum of the writer Voloshin. But I didn’t notice any special charm in Koktebel. Therefore, I did not highlight it as a separate item.

Sudak: Genoese fortress

The town of Sudak itself is also not amazing. But here there is such a grandiose structure as the Sudak Genoese fortress. Which is well preserved, looks great in photos, and that’s why tourists love it very much.

And half an hour’s drive from Sudak there is an absolutely stunning place - New World.

New World: sparkling wine factory

The small village of Novy Svet is hidden in a beautiful bay:

Chic sandy beach, a gentle entrance to the sea - all this pleases tourists in summer months. But even in the middle of autumn, when the cold wind was already blowing on other beaches of Crimea, the sea was calm here, and the water temperature allowed us to swim.

And right here, in the New World, you have a chance to try elite Crimean champagne , whose history is as impressive as the price tags on the bottles. To do this, you should go on a tour of the local sparkling wine factory:

The founding date of the House of Champagne Wines “New World” is considered to be 1878, when Prince Lev Golitsyn acquired an estate in the area of the modern New World and decided to start a new, promising business here - the production of champagne. How much it cost him and what came out of this venture, you will find out during the excursion. Well, and tasting of several types of champagne will pleasantly please the taste buds.

Golitsyn trail

Another attraction in the New World is associated with the name of this man. This walking trail , moving along which will give you vivid impressions, especially in good weather.

Back in 1912, Prince Lev Golitsyn came up with this route to please Nicholas II, who planned a visit to Paradise - that was the name of the New World at that time. The Golitsyn trail was cut into the rocks in such a way as to demonstrate all the beauty of this place: rocks, bays, cape, juniper grove.

To avoid driving after tasting champagne, you can book a hotel in the New World in advance. True, they are not cheap here, but I can suggest a couple good options: boarding house "New World"

Further from Sudak towards Alushta and Yalta you can drive along the coast. But I warn you: the road will be beautiful, but extremely difficult. The dashingly twisted serpentine road will not allow you to accelerate faster than 30-40 km/h, and the road surface leaves much to be desired. Therefore, having driven along this road once, next time we decided to go through Simferopol. It is not so picturesque here, but the speed of movement will be 80 -90 km/h.

From Simferopol we again turn towards the coast. And before reaching Alushta, we find ourselves in yet another amazing place- Valley of Ghosts.

Mount Demerdzhi and the Valley of Ghosts

Mount Demerdzhi is one of the most beautiful and mysterious mountains in Crimea. She is credited with both color transformations and mysterious visions. That’s why the name is Valley of Ghosts.

This is probably the most unusual place in the mountains of Crimea. You won't take photos like this anywhere else:

And from here it’s already a stone’s throw to the next resort - Alushta.

Alushta

Actually, if you have already visited Mount Demerdzhi, then the rest of the attractions of this town can be seen in half a day. Therefore, whether it is worth staying here for the night is up to you to decide. Well, we decided to do it in Yalta.

Yalta

But in beautiful Yalta, one day is clearly not enough for you to see all the most interesting places.

Perhaps this is the city of Crimea that makes you fall in love at first sight. And if you come here, stay at least 3-4 days. Read this article to understand how much time you will need to explore the city:

There are many hotels in Yalta, and in general they are more expensive than in other resorts in Crimea. Recommended: GC YALTA-INTOURIST, Hotel "Alexandria", Hotel Levant 3*

Gurzuf

There are only five museums in this small resort town:

  • museum A.S. Pushkin,
  • Museum of A.P. Chekhov
  • Museum of K. Korovin
  • Museum of Cosmonautics (yes, cosmonautics - in Gurzuf!)

And Gurzuf is also legendary rocks Adalary. They are a symbol of Gurzuf.

Well, Gurzuf Bay itself, with white houses running up the slope and narrow streets, reminds me in places of the coast of Italy.

It looks like it, doesn't it?

Massandra

Another place in Crimea that can easily be confused with a cute corner of some old lady in Europe is Massandra :

The village of Massandra is located near Yalta and is the birthplace of Crimean wines.

3 must-see attractions in Massandra:

  • Massandra Palace , built for Emperor Alexander III. Each room in the palace has its own style. Here you can see how the princes and emperors of the Russian Empire lived
  • Massandra Park . It's quite big. Its pride is the plants that were brought here in past centuries. For example, it grows here arbutus, Himalayan cedar, giant sequoia and other species.
  • Winzavod« Massandra" . This business card village This is the oldest wine production plant in Crimea. In addition, its territory is simply huge. Millions of bottles of high quality wine are produced here, including collectible ones. Tourists are told more about all this on a tour of the Massandra wine cellars. Tasting is included in the price of the excursion.

Swallow's Nest

Everyone has probably seen this castle, hanging on a steep 40-meter cliff above the Black Sea, in pictures in magazines, TV programs, the Internet... But all these pictures are nothing compared to reality:

There I also wrote in detail how best to get to this place by car.

Mount Ai-Petri

Another popular object in this part of Crimea is Mount Ai-Petri .

The mountain, whose height is 1234 meters, is popular among tourists for several reasons. But above all, they are gorgeous panoramic views on Greater Yalta. In general, from the top of Ai-Petri you can clearly see all the resorts South Bank Crimea, and the sea from here is visible at a distance of 135 km.

And be sure to take warm clothes with you: the weather at the top of the mountain can “delight” you with a strong cold wind (I was almost blown off my feet...)

Livadia: palace complex

This palace, designed by N. Krasnov and commissioned by Nicholas II, is located on the territory of the luxurious Livadia Park with an area of 40 hectares. This is also where the legendary The Royal Path.

It was built in 1909-1911. The architecture of the future palace was inspired by the travel of Nicholas II to Italy, where he was struck by the majestic beauty of Turin and Florence. Architect Krasnov was given the task of designing a palace in the spirit of the Italian Renaissance, but taking into account all the modern trends of the 20th century.

The last time the family of Nicholas II visited Livadia was in 1914, on the eve of the First World War. This palace is also known as the site of the Yalta Allied Conference, which determined the post-war world order.

In Soviet times, until the beginning of the 80s, there was a sanatorium in the palace. Now palace and park ensemble open to the public like a museum. Its exhibition is dedicated to details from the life of the Romanovs. Even if you are not interested in history, visit this place and get purely aesthetic pleasure.

This palace competes with the Vorontsov Palace for the title of the most luxurious residence in Crimea.

Vorontsov Palace

Vorontsov Palace - completely different in style. But it also makes a strong impression. And it is located in the city of Alupka, at the foot of Mount Ai-Petri. Built from volcanic stone - diabase, which was mined nearby.

Until the October Revolution, the castle successfully served as the residence of the Vorontsov family. After the revolution, as usual, it was nationalized and used as a museum (it’s strange that it did not become another sanatorium for proletarians...) Currently, excursions are also held around it.

The palace is traditionally surrounded by a luxurious park, which is also definitely worth a stroll (on your own and completely free):

Balaclava

At a distance of 12 km from Sevastopol there is an amazing bay, and in it a small but cozy townBalaclava .

IN Soviet times Tourists were not allowed to travel to Balaklava. Balaklava was a closed town built specifically for military personnel and their families. But now this beautiful bay is advertised in all guidebooks to Crimea:

In addition to the wonderful landscapes, this place is worth visiting because of one unique object. This is the Balaklava Naval Museum Complex, which is a complex of underground structures designed for the repair and maintenance of submarines. It was built in 1955-1961 by order of Stalin and until 1995 it was used for its intended purpose. In 2003 it was turned into a museum. Now open to tourists.

A tour of this facility makes a strong impression even on a lady as far from military topics as I am! Read and look at the photos here: Balaclava - why it’s worth a visit.

Other entertainment options in Balaklava include diving, trips on boats, off-road vehicles, ATVs, sea fishing, and sea taxi trips to remote beaches. In general, you can spend the night here. We did just that at the time. I can recommend hotels: Hotel Dakkar, Mriya Hotel, Hotel Listrigon 2*.

Sevastopol

It’s worth setting aside a separate day for Sevastopol. Both in the city itself and in its surroundings there are a lot of diverse tourist attractions:

  • Inkerman
  • Chersonesos
  • Sapun Mountain

Bakhchisaray: Khan's Palace

Bakhchisarai - very ancient city, once the capital of the Crimean Khanate, and it is unlike any other city in Crimea. Today it is charming resort with a real oriental flavor. Ancient buildings in Turkish and Byzantine styles emphasize the origins of the city, and the national Tatar cuisine fills the city with the stunning aroma of spices and seasonings.

Tourists in this town are interested in two objects - XAnsky Palace and famous Bakhchisarai fountain . Both of them were examined by us and described in this article:

You will spend at most a couple of hours visiting the palace and fountain. And then tourists usually go to the mysterious cave city of Chufut-Kale.

Chufut-kale

Visiting this place will require some effort. The cave city, as the name suggests, is located in caves, and the caves are in a high mountain range. You will have to climb there on foot - there are no other options. But after the climb you will be rewarded with a worthy spectacle:

Be sure to visit this town, you won’t be disappointed!

How to see all these places and objects

And now, as promised, I’ll tell you how to plan your trip around Crimea in order to capture your favorite objects along the way.

If you in your own (or rented) car , then you can watch in the order in which they are in the list.

Car rental in Crimea

If you are vacationing at a specific resort, the easiest way to do this is by purchasing the appropriate excursion. Almost all of the listed sites are actively visited by organized excursion groups.

But for some people it will be more suitable individual excursions . There are such options too.

Tourists vacationing in Yalta will have the most opportunities:

For those who stay in Alushta, there are also interesting offers:

There are also good options in Sevastopol:

And this is where I will end my review.

If you know what other interesting places you can see in Crimea, please write in the comments - it will be useful for all of us :-)

Enjoy your travels around the beautiful Crimea, friends, and see you on the blog!

The palace is located, as you might guess, in the city of Bakhchisarai, which is approximately 50 kilometers from Sevastopol and 30 kilometers from Simferopol. You can get to the city by car - from the nearest major cities the journey will take about an hour, but, for example, from Yalta or Evpatoria - one and a half hours, from Feodosia - two and a half. Besides by car, you can get to Bakhchisarai from Sevastopol and Simferopol by buses departing several times a day from the bus station, and by train. But periodic restorations and reconstructions after earthquakes and wars have done their job, and now you can’t take your eyes off the Swallow’s Nest.

There is a restaurant and an observation deck inside; there are no museums or exhibitions in the Swallow's Nest. The “castle” is located in the south of the peninsula, approximately 15 kilometers from the city of Yalta. You can get there by car or by buses No. 32 and No. 102. It was created at the beginning of the 19th century, and in 1990 it was given the status of a museum-reserve.

Visiting the Borontsov Palace can take a lot of time. If you want to walk around the grounds and look at the palace from the outside, plan on it taking from several hours to half a day. Well, if your visit plan also includes an inspection of the palace from the inside, then it’s better not to plan anything else for the same day, the museum-reserve is so rich in various “interests”. In addition, there is a beach in the park at the palace, which will allow you to combine a cultural program with a seaside holiday.
